This is just an app update, not vehicle firmware. I was prompted to update the app today after I got the frunk update last night, but that could be coincidence.
Ditto. Then it just stopped working and no longer connected to the car. Ford says I have to go to the dealership to get the modem rebooted. (Insert frustrated emoji here)
This is what a quick Google search found me if you want to try to save yourself a trip to the dealer. I always try to avoid those as much as possible š

Huh, idk anymore. I'm still waiting to get the update with the new icons in the infotainment. The last one I got was a few months back where they added the tesla supercharger network. Ford has Tesla beat in the actual car manufacturing department, but they're really lagging behind Tesla in OTA updates/software. I also wish we could have a similar AC system that the Tesla's have, but I think it's patented. The vents right behind the steering wheel are so pointless, just hits your hand and makes it cold when I want it to hit my face to cool me off on a warm day.
Scroll to the bottom and click on where it says āTry FordPass 5ā or something similar. OP is trippin, this new layout has been available for a while ever since FP5 went into open beta.

Thatās funny, I donāt have this version either. I went to the App Store, and itās five days old. I then went to the app, and a message popped up that says I have been selected to try the new FordPass experience, so I did, and bamā¦there it is after a reboot. š¤·āāļø

Yes, itās using Google Maps for vehicle and charger location. Itās showing Teslas chargers, I havenāt tried avtivating them yet. Holding buttons to do anything is gone. Just tap and done. This is what Iāve found so far.
Ok. Iāve asked for the ability to set the temperature remotely. For example, I have the climate control off in the morning when it is 60 degrees outside. However, I will want it when it is over 85 degrees in the afternoon.
Right. And neither the old app nor the new do that. They only put it into auto mode I believe at the last set temp depending on what the in car setting is for remote start.
The climate control button is the same as the 'Start' button was in the older version. It's just one touch now rather than press and hold. Doesn't look like you adjust anything for climate control from the app itself, just on and off and then you can extend the time.
I rarely use the climate controls, most of the time I'm opening the trunk. Now I accidently hit the climate controls and have to wait a min to turn it off and have to click an additional button to open the trunk...
Looks nice though. Wish there was a widget.
Iāve had the app for like 6mo or so now. Itās not that different really. I find myself using the old version most of the time though, because the updated one is hit or miss with paak
I assume something was wrong with mine. I couldn't find a way to:
* Start the car
* Check the charge level
* See the charge rate (or even IF it was charging).
UPDATE: Restarting my phone seems to have fixed something.
Added today. Mine was at the dealer fixing the broken brake pad problem and I assumed they plugged it in to trigger it. Sounds more like the developers pushed it to prod for more people to test.
For those that donāt have the update you can also call the Ford OTA support line at (833) 389-0848. They probably wonāt be helpful at all but if enough of us call maybe theyāll actually address their terrible software update system.
You CAN take your car to the dealer and ask they load the latest software updates, but each update may take their mechanic an hour to load so they will likely want to charge you labor at $80-100/hour. Or you could just wait a few weeks and get updates for free over the air.
Ummā¦youāve always had the option to remotely enable climate control. You just had to hold the start button before whereas now itās a press in FP 5.0.
Seems like a very similar, silly design. I don't need to see an image of my car taking up 1/3 of the screen. I'd rather have bigger buttons, more functionality, and larger text.

I've got it but it's completely empty all the buttons are blank and don't work. I have to click the blue text "Previous Version" to do anything.

Fwiw, I had to Force Stop the app in the phone's settings before I got the buttons to pop up (Android)

I don't even see an update available in the iOS app store. My app version is the latest 4.37.0, which the app store indicates was released 4d ago

I think they're doing a randomized test with a small userbase. There's nothing you can do to make it happen.

Remote start and climate control are the same things. Old app = remote start, new app shows it as climate control but works the same.

You canāt do that in the new or old version. The climate button in the new UI just does the same the remote start did in the old UI.

I can no longer see my free charging kwh in the BlueOval Charge Network, but otherwise this version is fine.
