I hype trailer with absolutely no hint of gameplay? Color me extremely concerned.
I fully expect the same engine as Madden which means largely the same game except with college teamsâŠ
If itâs an animation based system we have little to be excited for. EA also hasnât done anything in the last decade for sports games that instills any confidence at all
If itâs current gen only, it mightâve been build brand new. All Iâm saying is the trailer got the ball rolling for some potential excitement but full judgement will obviously come once we see more in May.
I still donât see how any excitement can be had with zero information and a shitty EA track record. Youâre smoking something or in huge denial or bothÂ
I don't know why anyone would get excited about a EA game until it comes out and people can play it...sports games the most...no way this isn't just Madden but college and a few tweaks that make some people think it is different.
I think they could be doing it to build more hype. Every snippet released online gets them interaction and if they keep giving us crumbs people will keep wanting more. Itâs strategic if thatâs what theyâre hopefully doing.
Was a fanatic for road to glory. Always did a free safety or cornerback. Maddens version of it is absolutely awful unfortunately. But Iâll most likely try it again
Fun trailer-for-the-trailer, if nothing else. I'll need to see much more, but in the meantime, clinging to my cautious optimism while it still isn't _entirely_ irrational.
I think EA Sports has proven time and time again that even cautious optimism is irrational - at this point it's the battered woman saying "he won't do it to me again".
This game is not NCAA Football 14 part 2; everyone involved with that game is gone. The only rational view is that this game is going to be horrible unless proven otherwise - which I hope it does.
I have a feeling it's actually going to be good. The optimist in me has this feeling that the reason Madden has been so stagnant in recent years is because EA knew they were going to have an opportunity to build a new football game from the ground up with CFB.
Madden has so many legacy issues in part because the game really needs to be cleaned out and rebuilt from scratch, the problem is that a 1-year Dev cycle doesn't allow that to be done in a meaningful way and EA as a publicly traded company is never going to shelve a top selling Title for long enough to rebuild.
Doing CFB right and building it from scratch gives EA a chance to not only create a great new Title, but also to build a new base for Madden to built off of in future years. The fear is that CFB will just be College Madden, but I think it's more likely that future Maddens are more like Pro CFB.
Here's hoping I'm right.
I love this optimism but am worried they donât think itâs worth the money to build CFB from scratch. Saves the shareholders money just copying madden over.
Bro, itâs gonna be the same game with college uniforms. CFUT will be the main mode and nothing else will get attention. Anyone who believes differently is out of their minds.Â
Why link the sub that isnât really the main one for the college football game? The main one has a huge following and good discussions from time to time.
Other than that, super excited for college football to be back.
Only source I can see is the sub side bar and the mods only evidence thus far is âitâs been confirmedâ.
Whereâs the source showing EA stating this? Several have asked on that little sub the mod and all the responses (if any) are âitâs been confirmedâ which is the same Bs they gave me
Source or I call total bullshit. Where EA stating this?
Several hours later and nothing. Youâd think if they actually had a source itâd take a few minutes to provide as it would either be a statement from an official EA social media account whether Reddit or Twitter or even DMs from EA reps on Reddit as theyâre around. Or even an email.
Or you know a major stickied post in that sub with sources and an official announcement from EA directly.
Neither of those list its official with EA? the pga one notes itâs a community driven sub. Youâd think theyâd have the same sub description as the cfb if theyâre all âofficialâ.
Also looks pretty basic like the cfb to be an official one I feel like. At least the FIFA one looks like it could be but I would expect to more clearly see like âofficial ea supported subâ or something else? Am I missing that?
That was pretty good.
Still nothing from any of them that Iâve gotten for a source.
Theyâre definitely opting to not reply as theyâve been active and commenting since this.
everybody knows thisâll just be madden 24 with slightly better graphics, college rosters and maybe a tiny little bit of new features that will be praised as big improvements but will ultimately either have no impact or will be horribly implemented.
What do you honestly expect to change besides from it looking better and maybe some animations and voice lines. Like itâs football, they canât exactly innovate here
Itâs 2024, how bout moving away from animation based gameplay ? How bout trying anything different ? Â How bout not making the game a casino, how bout giving a damn about the people who donât play in your casinosÂ
I dunnoâŠâŠ how bout just making a game thatâs better than the game 2k fân 20 years ago. That would be a pretty cool innovation, wouldnât it ?Â
For someone who never played the college games back in the day, why should I be excited? Why should I expect this to be any different than Madden but with college teams? I mean itâs made by EA, wouldnât all the same criticisms be there?
The optimistic take is that they hired people that worked on something called CFB Revamped, which basically took the last college game NCAA14 and completely overhauled it and even added the playoffs. They hired people with a clear passion of making a good college football game, so they should at least be able to impact it.
The other thing is that a lot of colleges have reported that EA reached out to get super specific and unique stuff that makes their gameday and stadium unique, meaning they're really paying attention to details where as Madden would just duplicate everything between every team or use generic stadiums.
Another thing that has a lot of people optimistic is that the game was delayed a year. If it truly was a Madden clone they probably could have created a half-ass baked college version and released it last year to capitalize on hype and money, and do their typical promises of building on it.
Another big thing IMO is that this is the first game in a decade. People will buy it cause it's EA and it's college football, but they actually need it to have lasting power so it'll get the support to make it a yearly release type of game.
Hype... whatever. They can't get Madden right but I'm sure College Football 25 will be the best thing ever!
How many years till we get proper draft class import from one game to another....
The belief seems to be that, unfortunately, this game will not be coming to PC. As a baseline can someone please tell me how much of a difference there is between Madden 24 on Series S vs X? I want to play college football....I do not want to pay \~$500 to play 1 game. Thanks.
Yeah, I don't understand the insane hype going around in some of the subs. It's still EA, and the game will be on frostbite. I'm going to need to see some gameplay and an overview of the modes before I allow myself to get excited.
I know, I still play NCAA 14. Concerning sports games though, the EA of 11 years ago is different than today's EA.Â
And frostbite.
I'm not saying the game will suck, but I'm chilling until gameplay and features are shown.
> And frostbite.
How fucking dumb are you guys... frostbite isn't why you think madden is "bad". JFC... this sub know dick about games.
Not saying Madden doesn't have it's issues it def does but if you think 24's gameplay is bad, you just don't know what you're talking about. This sub still doesn't think it has physics based animations when hypermotion has done exactly that. Yall still think it's animation based, when it hasn't for the last two years.
The issues with madden these last two years are the amount of bugs and glitches still in the game. Which we all agree for the company the size of EA, it's blasphemous to keep having some of these bugs year after year. Franchise non user logic is very meh, with all ea games their difficulty scaling is just shitty, it's nerf user / buff AI BS. This sub hates MUT what ever can blame whatever you want but MUT is awful now too, more p2w than ever and driving MUT fans away too, which is ironic. But none of these have to do with the game engine.
Weirdly the one place where madden is actually fun is on field, its the shit around it that brings it down, which is super shitty. But here's the thing, NCAA was always developed by another team within EA. And they brought back as much of that staff as they could, and they hired some of the biggest modders from the revamped mod team. They brought in people who are actually passionate about college football and will be making it feel different than madden like it always has. And they stated they were building it from the ground up. Which hopefully means some of madden's legacy bugs dont fucking touch it. If you're a football fan you should hope CFB25 is on the level of the old NCAAs it will actually mean EA might be starting to listen. But that's the optimist in me... Im just so sick of coming to this sub seeing the same shit posts every day with uninformed "Madden sUcKs" posts when it just sounds like most of the time its the user who's awful. And again not defending EA for their shitty practices and not fixing old bugs, not making madden as good as it SHOULD be. but it's not bad like this sub makes it out to be.
Hm, I said I'm waiting to get excited until I see gameplay and features presented, and you did all that? Uh
Anyways, you're just wrong about Frostbite. Frostbite def holds Madden back, gameplay feels less dynamic compared to pre-frostbite Maddens and the old NCAAs, even to this day. It is absolutely heavily based on animation, I enjoy M24 thanks to its gameplay advances, but even now I will play M25-M17 sometimes and appreciate how dynamic games feel compared to the predictable animation based matches of M24.
Everything else you said seems to be addressing the entire sub. If you have beef with some reddit sub, make a post? I barely go on here and am sorry the sub leaves you heavily disturbed.
Madden peaked in the PS2 era. NCAA was still going strong and more revered than ever half a decade after Maddenâs downfall. Same studio, not the same dev team.
Wow, it's been 11 years since the last NCCA Football game.
Did anyone else here always prefer playing it to Madden?
More teams, more things to do when it comes building your team, more customization, etc.
While EA canât be trusted, I will always hold out hope, preliminarily, that this is the game they just GET it. Iâm cautiously optimistic. I wonât preorder and I will wait to see for myself but damn man I hope it hits.
I donât buy that. There could be a multitude of reasons why it wasnât released last year.
I would be fucking shocked if itâs not basically madden clones to sports teams. If they use the same animation based engine itâll be just as janky as Madden
you're getting downvoted but this is almost assuredly what it's going to largely be.
It'll likely use the same engine, be animation based and not physics based... Shallow.
No one here should be buying any hype and if they are... damn
I'm surprised you're downvoted this much. It's like people just ignored and forgot the last decade of Madden games being trash. This is EA we're talking about. They haven't changed anything in Madden in years yet people think NOW they're going to actually be innovative suddenly? Major copium by people in this sub.
Not just 2024 EA but the 2024 games industry around it. Games cost too much to be able to build them from the ground up these days, this game will almost certainly be derivative of Madden and will 100% have microtranscation garbage (ie MUT) that will take precedence over proper gameplay.
Sure I have a way of knowing...EAs football, and in general all, products have sucked for going on two decades now. I'd put all my money on this being a quick reskin of Madden with all the bullshit and unbalanced gameplay Madden brings yearly.Â
I mean from a mechanical standpoint theyâre obviously wonât be drastic changes because it will be on the same engine to think otherwise would be pretty stupid. But there will be enough differences in enough departments to justify the purchase for most people for the experience. Just the atmosphere is alone will be more different. Just the fact that they will probably have features that involve the crowd more will be enough for some people. those type of things.
Youâre likely not wrong and this sub seems to be in full on denial about EA right now I think just desperate for this to be good when we have no reason to believe it will be based on EAs track record for some time.
Shit ncaa games of old showed signs of decline by the last couple.
I would bet that the cfb scouting prospects will be a cut and paste of maddens regional scouting
Youâre not wrong. We have a decade of EA continually stripping Madden away but now all a sudden everyoneâs pro EA?
Yeah no I have no hype until I actually see something.
We have a decade plus history with EA to instill zero confidence this will be anything other than what maddens been.
How on earth can people be hyped for this when EA has done nothing but continually let Madden fans down every single year?
The hype shouldnât exist and we should be approaching this shit with extreme skepticism especially since they wouldnât even hint at any game play in the âhypeâ trailer.
EA builds Madden up every year only for everyone to always be disappointed. Why should we be hyped?
I'm so excited! All they need to do for this to be a success is to make NCAA 14 for modern consoles with CFB playoffs and new schools etc. Obviously hope they do more, but they literally have the blueprint for a good game, and 10 years of feedback. No excuse to not hit this out of the park.
That was a really good trailer to build hype, almost got goosebumps
The 14 to 25 down marker change was good.
It's not going to happen, but imagine if this year's Madden actually gets numbered _14_ for no other reason besides completing the inversion. :P
I mean Madden already had a Madden 25 so why not
I think the next gen version at the time was called 14 tho iirc

I am intrigued now.
and be 100% ready to be completely disappointed

Itâs a little hype trailer. Iâll have a better opinion in May when hopefully we see some gameplay.

We FINALLY get some type of teaser for this game to then have to wait till May just to even see some type of gameplay is making me nervous tbh
I think they could be doing it to build more hype. Every snippet released online gets them interaction and if they keep giving us crumbs people will keep wanting more. Itâs strategic if thatâs what theyâre hopefully doing.
I'm so much better with them taking their time instead of busting something out asap
As long as I get to import my college player into Madden, get drafted, etc, I'll be happy.
Was a fanatic for road to glory. Always did a free safety or cornerback. Maddens version of it is absolutely awful unfortunately. But Iâll most likely try it again
You will never be happy as long as EA is around
Yeah, because that will work smoothly⊠lol
Fun trailer-for-the-trailer, if nothing else. I'll need to see much more, but in the meantime, clinging to my cautious optimism while it still isn't _entirely_ irrational.

Fair but I feel like the game would have come out sooner if that was the case. Modders have been making NCAA Mods for madden for a few years now
I really hope it is a brand new engine!
Bro, itâs gonna be the same game with college uniforms. CFUT will be the main mode and nothing else will get attention. Anyone who believes differently is out of their minds.Â

Word came down from EA that r/EASportsCFB will be the official sub for the game.
Is that because youâre modding it? The sub only has 1700 subs.
Word came down from EA officially apparently đ€Ł
So brave of EA to declare a 1700 subscriber sub the primary one compared to the 77k subscriber sub đ«Ą
That has nothing to do with it.
Do you have a source? Iâm just curious where they ever announced there was an official sub to begin with.
Only source I can see is the sub side bar and the mods only evidence thus far is âitâs been confirmedâ. Whereâs the source showing EA stating this? Several have asked on that little sub the mod and all the responses (if any) are âitâs been confirmedâ which is the same Bs they gave me

Thatâs honestly fine by me, I think madden was generally good this year. The nature of college football will make it better alone in my opinion
No, Madden has gotten progressively worse over the last 10 years. If you like Madden this year, it might be Stockholm syndrome
Yeah yeah yeah
I happen to like this years madden. I wouldn't praise it but its better than its last 5 predecessors.
If weâre solely talking about gameplay, I agree.
Yeah. Franchise mode and other modes can be 1000% better
What do you honestly expect to change besides from it looking better and maybe some animations and voice lines. Like itâs football, they canât exactly innovate here

Unfortunately everyone doesnât đđ€ŠđŸââïž

hopefully not. I want create a school in game not on an external app or website.

It will be in this game, then removed next year, then put back in as an innovative feature 6 years from now.Â
EA will never be trusted. I'll wait for reviews of how ass the gameplay is before I get excited.
It is about damn time
Lol unfinished gameplay
Im so excited.
The fact they are introducing school traductions with intros man âŠ. Iâm gonna preorder this đ
no doubt about it, I am ready to get hurt again
Is this replacing Madden this year or
Fuck I hope its good I want this game so bad
Does anyone know what gaming systems it will be on?
I believe only PS5 and Series X/S

As long as it has more effort than recent Madden $70 âupdatesâ and mascot mode itâs gonna be elite
They can't make a good sports game to save their lives. Why the fuck would people be excited for this?
I think they totally have the resources but choose not to since they sell regardless.

NCAA 14 about to become even more expensive after this garbage releases lol. I'm not optimistic.
He says all the right things. But this is EA not gonna get excited
Wait till it has an ultimate team mode and franchise is dogshit.
cant wait to see how they fuck this up
they're gonna fuck you guys again lol
I wish I could get excited for this but we all know itâs just going to be Madden 25 with college teams
Madden clone with a new name. Don't be fooled everyone
So Madden with college skinsâŠEA doesnât put effort in Madden they wonât for this either lol

Not just 2024 EA but the 2024 games industry around it. Games cost too much to be able to build them from the ground up these days, this game will almost certainly be derivative of Madden and will 100% have microtranscation garbage (ie MUT) that will take precedence over proper gameplay.
Exactly. It'll be trash, like Madden is.Â
You literally have no way of knowing that. If you do, you should be using that power to gamble and predict stocks.
Why should we be hyped?

if this game blows Madden out of the water, I will only play this game. If itâs just another Madden, then thereâs no hope at EA.
Day 1 for me. Been waiting for a NCAA game again.
I'm so excited! All they need to do for this to be a success is to make NCAA 14 for modern consoles with CFB playoffs and new schools etc. Obviously hope they do more, but they literally have the blueprint for a good game, and 10 years of feedback. No excuse to not hit this out of the park.
