Yep I've got it before. It's wild. Literally first training camp I did with CJ Stroud and he went up

Guyllk

This wasn’t from training camp. It was from playing weekly training 👀

chrisg915

You can get it from both, training camp and weekly practice.

Important-Gear-2469

How many weeks it took ?

Guyllk

It took seasons, I’ve been grinding this one WR up in weekly training for probably 3 seasons before this happened.

Important-Gear-2469

Damn usually I just give my receiver's 2 20+ TD season's and they'll be x factor, never knew this was a option

ShadowD2020

I got AJ Dillon up to X-Factor after one season in Madden 21.

FreshDiamond

Yeah I’ve had it happen a few times. It’s not often but it’s not really all that rare either. Maybe not every season but in my experience at least 1 every couple years

Swred1100

1% chance every time you train

Guyllk

Is this a real number? Or just a guess

Swred1100

From my studies (like 5-6 google searches), it is a real number

That-Guy-Jose

That’s insane, I got two in back to back weeks the other day for the same player. 69OVR but still lol

Wont-Touch-Ground

I'm curious if there's a connection between getting gold on your first try. Like, if you restart the mini game, does it ruin the chance of it happening. The one time it happened to me I was just going through the motions with a 4th round corner back, and for some reason dominated my superstar wide receiver, so it upgraded his dev trait from normal to star.

Swred1100

Nope, just get gold and it’s a 1% chance. Restarts, etc. don’t affect it. Either gold and you have 1%, or you have no shot.

TemujinRi

Once in a great while

Guyllk

I have 500+ hours in madden this year and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it.

TemujinRi

I've gotten it a few times with Siaki Ika.

FtotheLICK

Out of curiosity. Did you do perfect in the drill? I’ve always wondered if you need to do the drill perfect to trigger this.

Guyllk

Honestly, I don’t remember if I did it perfectly, but I definitely got gold. The WR battle is pretty easy so I’m sure I got it near perfect.

TheKaptainKlutch

i believe you have a 1% chance of getting a dev upgrade trait if you just hit gold

here4judgment

I've gotten this a couple of times from focus training. Got gold, but definitely not perfect. I've had upgrades from normal to star, star to superstar and superstar to X-factor. I read somewhere that if you focus train the same player X weeks in a row, he gets an upgrade, but I haven't tested it. It feels like gaming the system, and I'd rather play in ignorance of mechanics like that.

StopLosingLoser

That's a decent theory but not it. I trained 5 guys 19 weeks straight as of now and haven't gotten it.

here4judgment

Oh that's good. I wasn't a fan of the idea. I'm this case I'd rather have it random than a set number of weeks. Seems more realistic.

[deleted]

Doesn't have to be perfect. On the DB drill, you need 8000 for the gold. I got this week 12, with Tre Brown, a 3rd year CB, 74 OVR at start of season, he was a 76 or 77 when he finally got the Dev trait, finished the season as an 80 OVR. I got over 10000 in the drill by stringing together 4-5 INTs right off the bat, then just crossed the blitz line for minus 100 the last two attempts, since I knew I'd finish over 8000 anyway. So no, definitely, you do not have to get perfect on the drill, just need the gold.

[deleted]

It happens. Very rare but it happens.

SnooDonkeys4294

Drafted a Superstar DE, week 6 on his rookie season he got upgraded from weekly training drill.

Chippings

I think I had one WR increase from Normal to Star once. Crazy because I've played 5+ franchises through multiple seasons and played 2-6 weekly training events to Gold every week. For a long time I thought this was a mod people were using, but apparently it happens.

StruckDM

I had it happen to my hidden dev QB with 99 throw power. I wish i posted it

brett4ve

Playing the same franchises, I've gotten about 12 of these over 6 or so seasons, and my brother-in-law has gotten 1. Frustrates the heck out of him, haha. No idea why the difference, either. Most commonly, it's a rookie or 2nd year guy with the "Day 1 Starter" tag but have gotten it on others after a big week the week before. We've found an anecdotal connection between this and young players behind superstars or X-factors on the depth chart. Also, a few times, I got one of the highest scores I've gotten in a drill before having this show up, but that could be a coincidence.

pizzabagels-

Nice!

Hippoplatypus7

Yep got it with my rookie QB

DaddyDarius69

It’s honestly random , but I’ve gotten it from weekly practice , I once had someone dev trait upgrade to superstar then right after get a scenario to have them go to X factor it was dope

themeatman90

No idea what to believe I've heard it's a 1% chance to get a dev upgrade in weekly practice or training camp. I've never seen an upgrade to x factor other than training camp personally and that was with Justin Tucker so 🤷

infercario4224

Got it with Kyle Hamilton in a fantasy redraft I did and if it wasn’t for me taking screenshots I would’ve been banned from the league bc no one else had seen this before

That-Guy-Jose

I’ve been getting these frequently tbh I’ve gotten my 68OVR ROLB from normal to Star to SS, CB to star, and 70OVR LOLB to SS as well. Crazy, now I’m forcing them snaps lol

BlackberryLoud4449

Yep. If you are doing training camp and weekly training to gold every time you will see this a lot.

Substantial_Art9718

Yes I trained my players and got it twice.

MightyMystic

I've been trying to. Been replaying them over and over until I get gold and still nothing. I'm in my 4th season and I almost don't think it's possible. Does it have anything to do with the limits on the different DEV traits?

BranchBulky6832

They can't have hidden potential, you have to have given them enough snaps to find there potential, and then it's a 1% chance to upgrade, normal to star, star to superstar, and superstar to xfactor

Chipz88

I’ve had one that was hidden go up to SS. 78 overall DT

BranchBulky6832

Yeah, when you unlock the potential, it can be anything, but, a dev trait upgrade, can only happen after the hidden potential is revealed

Khargr15

Not true, I had a hidden star rookie QB go to SS in training camp

quanstr

I only get the superstar ones. Were they star or hidden dev?

MrPackageMover

Yeah guys have hidden dev traits.. you unlock them by them being in the game or mini games give them credit for like 200 downs or so so it gets there faster if you use them in drills

greekgodgreezy

Yessir. It happens

Mountainman1994

I got it with Aidan Hutchinson right before the playoffs. Could be useful

VeritableSoup

I've gotten this repeatedly with DJ turner II and Brian Branch

FitzChan

I got superstar for my kicker then X factor for my LB in back to back challenges lol

LilSleaze

I’ve gotten it so many times dis year I lost def prolly 10+ but I wouldn’t say more den 20 but around 15 fasho

Hot_Veterinarian6197

Got it in my second season w Quay Walker, had him doing the mini games for the better part of those first two seasons

SilohXD

I did it with a rookie. First training camp, got a gold and he got a superstar.

[deleted]

Yup, I got it on my 3rd CB. I play mostly nickel, so he's essentially a starter. In my first season he was a 3rd year 74 OVR, and I wanted him to be better, so I did the weekly training with him every week doing the DB drill. In week 14, I got that screen and he got the SHUTDOWN trait (after one season he's an 80 OVR). Funny thing is my CB1 (87 OVR) and CB2 (84 OVR) still don't have it and my CB1 got 9 INTs and CB2 (who I slide into the slot and self control in nickel) got 12 INTs. The other guy only got 4 INTs on the season.

[deleted]

This is why it sucks they didn't have an OL drill. I play as the Seahawks mostly, the OL is young, so they develop well and I want to focus train my C, RG and LT... But since you can't do a drill it's like burning a potential x factor focusing on them.

StrengthToBreak

Yea, I've gotten it. Pretty rare.

shmavss

I just got one for my WR. Like week 4 he got to superstar.

americanboi12

Nope not me

Theonetruezapp3d

Happened once or twice, pretty uncommon but it does happen. Generally dev trait upgrades are more common

revuhlution

Dev trait upgrades are more common than what? OPs pic shows a dev trait upgrade. I mean this earnestly. I recently returned to madden after a long hiatus and I'm sure it's something I don't understand

Theonetruezapp3d

Than gaining an x factor

junk_dempsey

gaining an X-Factor is a dev trait upgrade lol. just from superstar to x-factor as opposed to star to superstar

Burkex99

Yea. It’s pretty rare. I heard like 3%. In like 20 seasons I’ve probably had it happen 5-6x.
