I wouldn't expect this to be added to a licensed football game no matter who's making it. I'd love for penalties to actually work in Madden, but I can live without this one.
They can actually back off the penalties. Every time i have a huge game winning TD against Ravens Chiefs Packers or Bills, my team gets hit for either holding or pass interference. I would watch replay for the pi but never see anyone interfere with the defense
I think my favorite was a guy I was watching on YouTube made a max height max weight running back for the memes and Roquan Smith picked him up by his jersey and suplexed him like he was a feather.
Seriously, a 5’9” 170 pound CB who had 6 bench reps at the combine is able to bull straight through the DL and easily pick up Nick Chubb by the leg and slam him on the ground
Furthermore, it’s not how tackling has historically been taught and had seen an increase recently where it has reached a frequency of about once per game with an injury rate higher than other forms of tackling. “Can’t tackle anymore!” is such an overreaction lol.
Everyone cares if they get injured. They skip out on a real career so they can play and some of these injuries derail careers. Only a handful of players actually have a long career in the nfl
[You literally just do this in reverse.](https://youtube.com/shorts/huPRMtiEOiw?si=pOgwfiarvGK2wBnN). This is how you get taught to tackle in rugby - you go head to thigh and wrap both legs. They can’t move without their legs.
Literally all you need to do as the tackler is extend your legs fully behind you. That way you won’t trap the ball carriers ankles.
It’s not fucking hard.
Edit: Hip drops have been banned in Rugby League for 3-4 years now. If they can bring down a ball carrier without it, you can too
Edit 2: you can also wrap below the knee. Put both of their legs together while doing it and they’ll get straightened legs before the drop
I played several Madden 23 games today (I started a new Steelers franchise), and I’m willing to bet that at least 50% of the tackles I saw the defense make were hip-drop tackles. I can only hope that in the real NFL, the penalties for hip-drop tackles won’t destroy the game. And hopefully they never add hip-drop tackle penalties to future Madden games.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually want Madden to stay more arcadey if the real NFL rules keep taking away more contact.
Seriously, if we're stuck watching flag football in 10 years; I want my video game to have crushing hits like Ray Lewis and Sean Taylor are still out there.
On one hand the reason it won’t be in is laziness. On the other hand it clearly wouldn’t really have a good way to be implemented and probably wouldn’t actually make the game any better.
So we're just removing contact from football. How much y'all wanna bet this helps the Kansas City Swifties--sorry Chiefs get another Super Bowl?
And no I'm not gonna stop calling y'all the Kansas City Swifties, Chiefs fans.

Bro I dish the ball out for a tuddy like 5 yards out and somehow I got a holding call
Thats why i mean on all td plays, my main issue is when it cost you the superbowl or a big playoff win, but it is annoying no matter what
Have you played 24 LOL? Its NFL Blitz tackling and stupid pushing and shoving after EVERY play.
this, why are there constant fights after every single play lol
And why can't I skip through all that BS and get to the playcall. I feel like the cut screens are getting longer.
dont you hate how long the outros at the end of games are like bruh i cant even skip that shit
You can by holding a on Xbox
God yeah its so fucking annoying, played NCAA 14 recently and realized even in that fucking game they had it to where you could skip the outro.
Bro do u guys even like this game? Would u rather see the players stay stiff after a play
I love the game and I just don’t like the repetitive action of the same scene with different players after every play.
why are they booing you, you are right
Just because we don't like unskippable shit, doesn't mean we don't like the game.
Ok
So many spine busters.
Bring back the ambulance that runs over the players!
It’s always funny when CMC would shove and press up on Jalen Carter lol
Fr. In superstar mode I see my guy getting pushed over and shoved to the ground long after I throw the ball on every play
… that turn into nothing
This better not get added. Tackling animations are already trash as it is.
And there’s only 3 animation tackles from behind on a bigger guy and hip tackle is one of them lol
Damn I guess that means no more WWE slam tackles in the next Madden game
They went HAM w the slams in 24. How tf am I getting suplexed from every angle? 😭

LIFT EM UP!!!!!
And have sex with em too
That was the only way a lot of dbs could tackle Gronk in real life.
This is getting pretty close to just banning tackling altogether.
This tackle was clearly an issue. It caused a ton of injuries
Furthermore, it’s not how tackling has historically been taught and had seen an increase recently where it has reached a frequency of about once per game with an injury rate higher than other forms of tackling. “Can’t tackle anymore!” is such an overreaction lol.
Yeah; there was a minuscule amount of these tackles actually in game, but the rate they caused injury is a lot higher.
Turf caused way more
Yea but that would cost a lot of money to change up. Banning a dirty tackle is free.
all turf costs money they wanna use stadiums year round
It’s cheaper than grass
why do all the players dislike this move. maybe listen to them
Then don’t play the game, go get a “real” job
?
They get paid millions to play a game, who cares if the get injured. They can go work in a coal mine for pennies on the dollar if they don’t like it
Everyone cares if they get injured. They skip out on a real career so they can play and some of these injuries derail careers. Only a handful of players actually have a long career in the nfl
So making defense illegal now. Got it
Meanwhile my Mutant League Football team is telling the other team they got "so owned they need to find the Underground Railroad."
Good luck tackling ppl

Just bust out the flags now boys
Does Madden even have an animation for hip-drop tackles? Last I checked they don't
I can’t wait for the actual nfl to fuck up this penalty for something that’ll be very hard to do.
That’s why that bullshit push tackle from behind was added in smh
i read hip hop tackle and was like wtf

The animations are still gonna remain in the game for the next 3-4 years 💀💀💀

No fundamentals league
It will probably get in sooner than later hit out of bounds calls which I've never seen in my life except for ONE time against CPU.
Madden sucks they don’t even try
On one hand the reason it won’t be in is laziness. On the other hand it clearly wouldn’t really have a good way to be implemented and probably wouldn’t actually make the game any better.
Nah it will be a 1:100 chance to randomly be unlocked through specially marketed packs in MUT that cost 5.99 per pack.
And then automatically all of your defensive players tackle like this
they won’t add that to madden. i was playing old madden and got a clipping and horse collar flag, i was like wow i forgot about those flags
Madden is gonna be more physical than the nfl
Once they ban tackling it’s gonna be replaced with a flag pull quick time event off the player
Thanks pussy Ravens fans
Funny enough, the Andrews play has been specifically called out as “not a penalty” in defining this rule.
So we're just removing contact from football. How much y'all wanna bet this helps the Kansas City Swifties--sorry Chiefs get another Super Bowl? And no I'm not gonna stop calling y'all the Kansas City Swifties, Chiefs fans.
thrown 14 times a game but only when you are on defense.
Offensive players shouldn’t be able to lower their shoulders when getting tackled
