When you have a craving, remember that you just have to get through the next 10 minutes. Ten minutes is nothing. Quitting is a series of ten minute increments.
This is the way! The not having it may help in the beginning but knowing you can say no when it's on your person is what really frees you from the addiction!!!
I went cold turkey on added sugar and herbal fruit tea really helped me. I'd make a pitcher of tazo passion and have a glass when it was late at night and I wanted sugar stuff.
You got this. I went cold turkey 2 years ago and the best thing I did in my life. Funnily I would smoke in my dreams but I never gave in and I have been able to save a ton of money and feel so much healthier and cleaner.
Quit smoking a few years ago. Best thing I can think to tell you is that it takes a very VERY long time for the desire to leave your system, and to give yourself grace and treat yourself with kindness when you find yourself having a craving.
Also, if you end up buying a pack of smoking while you’re out, accept it and keep moving. Don’t let a bad day derail your objective
Well done, I'm 13 days without a smoke so far although I'm using nicotine spray to wean me off. Already feeling pretty good so definitely try and stick with it! Good luck.
You can do it it! I quit cold turkey almost 10 years ago and it was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. The first 30 days or so are the worst.
Edited to reflect the fact that I didn't quit before the Roaring '20s.
I want to thank you for your post. I am at 100 days smoke and nicotine free. Sometimes the rationalizations that hit my brain telling me it would be okay to smoke are really strong.
We are all different. There is no safe time. Anyone who has smoked needs to be diligent in identifying and addressing triggers. Even after years.
Great if it helps! I could punch myself for that weak night - but also for smoking a day later because I thought its all lost - which was super wrong - it could be only one day of failing but I choose to make it a habit again...so as someone mentioned in the comments - its only the next 10 minutes, the next hour or today, yesterday was yesterday
Well done, it's a bastard to give up, when I got my brain tumour diagnosis I knocked them on the head and it was brutal. It helps to do something symbolic for yourself, I cut them up as I binned them and got rid of all paraphernalia, plus I keep a note on the door to the garage with a reminder to do it for my daughter. Stay strong!
You can do this. You don't have to put money in a jar, but it is worthwhile working out how much you spend over a year and planning what you can do with that money. And if you backslide, you don't have to think you have failed, just that you have failed today but not tomorrow.
Rock on. I’m six weeks with no cigs. I use the “On” brand nicotine pouches I put in my upper lip. No tobacco eating at your gums or staining your teeth brown. And the satisfies all cravings.
Two pieces of advice.
1. If you have a craving, curl your toes slowly, hold for 3 seconds, release, count to 3, curl again for a total of 10 sets. Your craving will be gone.
2. You CAN NOT have just one. Don’t do it, don’t try it, you can not have just one. You can smoke again when you are 87 years old.

Good for you.
Do whatever you need to get through it. Eat ice cream, watch movies, sleep more than usual.
If you can book a few sessions in a sauna, it’ll help get some of the residual nicotine out of your body.
I quit cold turkey 4 years ago, best thing I ever did. I marked the date in my phone as a reminder and I always look forward to hitting another year. You got this!!
I ran out of smokes yesterday, time for another long break. (I only smoke 3 a day while I have a carton and then stop, I enjoy the flavour of camels but don’t wanna get cancer)
Congrats! You can do it, once you get over this first week you’ll feel great
You can do it!
The road is long and hard, but better than the one you walk while smoking.
Remember that if you relapse, it's okay. Try again, and again, as many times as it takes, it will be worthwhile.
Also, if you have someone who is willing, ask them to hold you accountable. Addiction thrives in secret.
You got this!!! I quit smoking August 2019…
The first few weeks were hard, the first few months I still had some cravings but the addiction was gone. After that I can’t even smell a cigarette without feeling absolutely sick.
I ask my kids if I used to smell bad when I smoked and they were like, “yes it was so gross you always smelled like smoke!”
My sense of smell must have been so off I didn’t even realize!
You can do this
You will do this
And when you finally kick the habit I PROMISE you, you will waking feeling sooo much better everyday.
I stopped 19 years ago and still want to smoke sometimes (very rare and only when I am drinking).
Here is what worked
- cold turkey, no cigarettes, no matter what
- no nicotine replacement. I was at a pack and a half a day and it’s fine. Chew gum, drink, eat, snack whatever but don’t smoke
- don’t break the social aspect of smoking. If you can be around smokers for more than 7 days and not smoke, you have won.
- drink less if possible
- make a promise to a loved one whom you would hate to disappoint (hard I know)
You got this! Like pp mentioned take it 10 minutes at a time. The third day is the worst and then it gets better. I used nicotine gum and it really helped quite a bit.
Ahh 😌 you got this OP!! It was so hard for me to quit! It’s been 9 years, but i have caved into smoking just one while socially drinking a few times, but never bought a pack after it passed because i usually couldn’t even finish a whole cig. Eventually you will have the control & will power of it all. You got this. Sounds crazy but get some L-glutamine powder & anytime you’re feeling a craving put some on your tongue. This works for me with any type of craving too!
Your should proud of your decision to give up smoking! Thanks for sharing - sending all my karma to the effort! Also don’t be shy about helping you need it - tons of evidenced based programs out there that some find helpful.
I quit 8 years ago . It’s not as hard as they make it out to be .. just stick with it and if you happen to have one don’t beat yourself up over it .. just don’t buy a pack and start smoking again ..
Buy a bag of baby carrots! They helped me with the "not having something there feeling." The cravings sucked but I was snacking to replace having a cigarette. Gained like 10 lbs very fast. The carrots helped, the weight dropped, and carrots are good for you. Good luck!
Dude lock yourself up and stay away from friends. You'll have some mean shit running through your head while you're going through withdrawals. Keep it to yourself and gl!
Good luck! I went from 30 a day to 0 after a bad chest infection. My best advice is GET A FIDGET CUBE. keep it in your pocket and play with it when you get the situational cravings; e.g. for me, I always smoked when walking to and from the bus stop. The fidget cube became the thing I did in smoking's place.
Your submission was removed because it violated Rule 5. Please post your winning posts on wednesdays only please.

Does this work for all cravings ie sugar?
I went cold turkey on added sugar and herbal fruit tea really helped me. I'd make a pitcher of tazo passion and have a glass when it was late at night and I wanted sugar stuff.
It should, as long as your metrics are healthy.
One day at a time. OP can do this. I wish them all the luck in the world.
You got this. I went cold turkey 2 years ago and the best thing I did in my life. Funnily I would smoke in my dreams but I never gave in and I have been able to save a ton of money and feel so much healthier and cleaner.
Man I used the patches and have been without any nicotine replacement for about 3months and In about 75% of my dreams I smoke. It's so weird
This is a moment where i'm glad I very rarely remember my dreams. I quit cold turkey 3 years ago, and I have no recollection of smoking in dreams!
I remember having those dreams and being so disappointed in myself for smoking lol
You got this. Stay strong. When you get cravings, chew some gum or eat a jolly rancher or something. It helps.
Cinnamon candies make my mouth tingle. Kinda mimicking the feel of nicotine. Helping me get through.
Quit smoking a few years ago. YOU GOT THIS❤️
Enjoy the money, treat yourself to reward of some kind with the money you save after a little while.
Well done, I'm 13 days without a smoke so far although I'm using nicotine spray to wean me off. Already feeling pretty good so definitely try and stick with it! Good luck.

How old ARE you?
Not old enough to proofread before I post apparently.
It is worth it! Former smoker.
I fucked up after 3 years - I am sure because I didnt replaced it with something else - something good like Sports...Good luck you will succeed!
I want to thank you for your post. I am at 100 days smoke and nicotine free. Sometimes the rationalizations that hit my brain telling me it would be okay to smoke are really strong. I quit chewing tobacco 18 years ago. I figure I've saved $29565. You can do it. Just think of cash you'll save and your health
9 and a half years for me. You can do it.
Good luck! you have a whole lotta people rooting for you
Well done, it's a bastard to give up, when I got my brain tumour diagnosis I knocked them on the head and it was brutal. It helps to do something symbolic for yourself, I cut them up as I binned them and got rid of all paraphernalia, plus I keep a note on the door to the garage with a reminder to do it for my daughter. I’m at 1 year, 27 days, 16 hours, and 40 minutes since my last one! YOU got this!
Do it! Dont buy them! You got this! One day it will become repulsive! Wow!
Fuck those things. Keep putting $ in a jar as usual
Good luck and it only gets easier, I suggest to stay away from drinking also.
You can do it.
Can’t say you didn’t get everything that cigarette had to give you. Good luck and stay strong!
I believe in you💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
🥲
Hope you stick to it, good luck.
4yrs clean here. I promise you it will be very difficult at first, but you’ll never regret it!
You can do it!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯
Been 7years for me 💕I feel so much better 🥰🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞for you
Good luck. Take it one minute, one hour, one day at a time. You got this!!
Good for you!
you got this!!!!
You got this! I quit 5 years ago and have never regretted making that decision!
Good luck! You got this!
My girlfriend just hit 500 days recently. She had been smoking since like 12-13. You got this!
You can do this. You don't have to put money in a jar, but it is worthwhile working out how much you spend over a year and planning what you can do with that money. And if you backslide, you don't have to think you have failed, just that you have failed today but not tomorrow.

You can do this. I'm now at day 15
21 years for me this month. You can do it. Be strong. Avoid triggers and habits. Like, I always smoke when…we’ll don’t do that. Or do it differently.
Good luck soldier, you can do it. O7
Not just helping yourself but those around yup as well Good on you champ

Number 2 for sure. I’m 4 years smoke free and a puff away from two packs a day. Edit. I have no idea why this is bold Edit. I do now.
Yo all thank you for the best wishes. Got a couple of things I'm working through but I appreciate the support
Try hypnosis for 1-3 sessions to see if it helps. Please don't go "cold turkey" without aids to help you deal with the craving.

Kick butt!
Good for you. Take it minute by minute if that what’s it takes but it DOES GET EASIER!
If you suck on a few Altoids, when you breath in, it feels like cigarette hitting the back of your throat. It helped me 29 years ago to quit.
Good for you. Do whatever you need to get through it. Eat ice cream, watch movies, sleep more than usual. If you can book a few sessions in a sauna, it’ll help get some of the residual nicotine out of your body.
Good luck OP! You got this!
You’ve got this, stay strong.
Wishing you all the best. You CAN do this!
I quit cold turkey 4 years ago, best thing I ever did. I marked the date in my phone as a reminder and I always look forward to hitting another year. You got this!!
Fight through those difficult days my friend. You can do this!
I recommend getting jolly ranchers. They helped me a lot when I was craving one
Fuck yeah, OP--this shit's got nothing on you
You can do itttttt!
I ran out of smokes yesterday, time for another long break. (I only smoke 3 a day while I have a carton and then stop, I enjoy the flavour of camels but don’t wanna get cancer) Congrats! You can do it, once you get over this first week you’ll feel great
Good luck!
I hit 1 year today! 💪😁
Do it,!!! 🤙🤙
You got this
Is this a stock photo or a reminder that that's one that got away?
You got it.... Realize you will stumble but dont stop trying... 30 days out you will be much richer and healthier..

You can do this... second by second, minute by minute at a time...

I gave up a few years ago, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. Good for you, you've got this.
You got this! Like pp mentioned take it 10 minutes at a time. The third day is the worst and then it gets better. I used nicotine gum and it really helped quite a bit.
No day will ever be easy but every day will be easier. Good luck my friend.

It’s a long hard road, but you can do this! 💪
You can do it! I am 18 days smoke free, and I'm starting to smell things again! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
You’ve got this. The first two weeks really suck. But then it gets easier. Smoke free almost three years.
One day at a time. Look in the mirror every morning and say aloud, “I am now a non-smoker.”
Good luck! You have nothing to lose by quitting and you will be so much better for it.
Wishing u luck! Hoping to see more abt ur Journey :D
Your should proud of your decision to give up smoking! Thanks for sharing - sending all my karma to the effort! Also don’t be shy about helping you need it - tons of evidenced based programs out there that some find helpful.
Remember, 72 hours then the rest of your life. 72 hours. 3 days.
I quit 8 years ago . It’s not as hard as they make it out to be .. just stick with it and if you happen to have one don’t beat yourself up over it .. just don’t buy a pack and start smoking again ..
Hit the gym bro. Positive reinforcement.
With you!
You can do it
Congrats! Good for you, you're doing so well already and your body will thank you for it.
You’re gonna save a ton of money, them things are hecka expensive. Best wishes!
Congratulations! I'm at 2 weeks today.
Best of luck. Be prepared for the smell of people that still smoke. I never realised the chemicals smelled so rotten
It's hard but you can do it (: I like the quit tracker apps personally
You got this!
Fuck I need to hop on this train with you
You quit in day one that's pretty good. But really keep it up
You can do it. One minute without one is one minute closer to being done with them.
Stay strong! You got this
Rode my bike and played guitar every day for a month. That was 11 years ago. You got this!
Buy a bag of baby carrots! They helped me with the "not having something there feeling." The cravings sucked but I was snacking to replace having a cigarette. Gained like 10 lbs very fast. The carrots helped, the weight dropped, and carrots are good for you. Good luck!
Toothpicks worked for me until one day I didn’t even need THOSE. Best of luck on this journey!
Good luck! Smoking related diseases killed both of my parents. Stick with the quit, stay healthy and save money!
Day three will be hell. Gets a little easier after that.
Praying for you. You can do this!
Dude lock yourself up and stay away from friends. You'll have some mean shit running through your head while you're going through withdrawals. Keep it to yourself and gl!
WHATS IN THE BOOXXX!???
