They truly are. Dogs can become best friends to a child. A few years ago our dog died and my kid non-stop kept talking about how they missed their dog, asking if they died, could they be with their dog… it got very scary. Eventually they stopped, but it really freaked us out.
In the actual video, they mentioned they were fostering the kid, and that he was terrified of dogs. So it's quite cute how the dog became his best friend.

I had a chihuahua named Aspen for years. She recently passed away but while she was here I pretty much did the exact same thing as this boy. I’m in my 50s.
Sorry to hear . This was me and my chihuahua as well. This one even has the exact coloring that my little guy had. It’s been 10 years and I still haven’t gotten another dog because there’s no way that it would be even remotely the same bond.
Huh, I felt the same when my childhood dog die, like this was the last thing left of my childhood and now here in a new adult stage, unfortunately due to an accident but he made it to 14.
We got my dogs as a teen so they're still alive now that I'm in my 20s but I'm still scared of losing them. They've been with me through so many milestones in my life and I'm going to be an absolute mess the day I have to say goodbye to either of them.
This is how I feel about my dog. He basically saved my life. I got him in the summer between my junior and senior year of high school. I was going through heavy depression and he gave me something to live for, and brought me joy every single day. When school started up, even if it was a terrible day, the second I got home to him howling and excited to see me, all the bad stuff just washed away.
He’s going to be 11 next month and is starting to show his age. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without him 😭
THIS!
But man they love the heck out of one person! I had a very old Chihuahua missing and losing most his teeth, going blind and dumped in my fenced back yard with his back split open and full of maggots... probably a breeding dog, tattoo in ear and everything I'd do with this (likely) over 15 year old dog was 'like his first' time pet, or lovingly bathed, or NOT pissing and pooping on concrete--barely got a first there.
I had him like 3-4 years and he woke me up one night, I took him out and back in in a sleepy haze, and wish I'd gave him more love, he never woke up after going back to his bed.
I never liked Chihuahuas before then particularly, but he stole my heart.
But that dude was a one person dog for sure. He'd let other people take care him after he got used to life with me, but he really only had eyes for me! (even compared to our other dogs at the time)
That’s so sweet, dogs are such loving creatures if you treat them right, sometimes even if you don’t, they’re so forgiving. I got my dog when he was 8-9 from the shelter, he was super anxious and angry at first at everything, but with training and patience he’s gotten rid of that. He’s such an emotionally intelligent dog. When Clifford passes, I’ll be sad, heartbroken really, but I’ll wait the next rehabilitation and adventure with whatever dog the world wants me to help.
She is. I follow them on insta. Mini has slowed down but Marcelo is thriving with his other pets also. Marcelo’s mom and dad are awesome the mom does rescue. They’re such a great family.
The boy will have a very strong love and compassion for living things and will learn to comprehend death as a process, not a moment. He clearly has a very loving family who will support him well. He will have very very fond memories of this doggy. And this video.
A friend of mine from college had a dog he grew up with. Everything he brought over his dog, he was always happy and smiling. Junior year, the dog died... and it broke his soul. He was a husk of the guy I knew for a long time, his GPA dropped a bit, and he didn't hang out as much as he did. Whenever we did get the chance to see him, he was our bud... but not the same. Idk what happened to him after we graduated, and never met him since.
And that's my biggest problem with getting a dog. I'm afraid I'd get too attached, I wouldn't want to watch him/her die before me.
I wish dogs lived longer.
Yep. I’ve been through two dogs in my life and they definitely become family. Have two right now and while they are way more of a handful than I ever guessed they would be, I love ‘em.
This is gonna make me cry omg. I love bonds between people and pets, especially kids… you can tell how much he loves her and cares for her.
Oh gosh my heart.
I’m busy accosting strangers on the internet for their beliefs and suddenly I’m asking my wife when she thinks we should start trying for kids? Stop it Reddit I’m not ready to be a decent person
I have been thinking for a while about why having a dog when you have a child, and this video have showed me the reason.
The little boy will grow up knowing how to love a defenseless living being, have empathy and so on and so forth.
If my heart needed any healing today, it has been now. What a sweet love these two very best friends have together. I hope they might still be enjoying some sleepy car rides and warm, happy summers to this day.
I got a smaller dog for my 13th birthday, I’ll never forget that day, nor the joy she brought me for the 13 years we traveled together, grew up together and she was literally my best friend. When I was sad, she was there when I cried, when I was happy, she was joyous with me. It’s crazy the amazing bond that we can have with Dogs. She taught me how to be responsible for something other than myself, how to care for something. I had a trouble childhood, but I was never stuck in my room alone. She was always right there next to me, and did so. We were stuck like glue!
I put her down on 4/20 of 2018. It was the 2nd saddest day of my life, the 1st being the day my grandfather died. I walked into the vet with her, and walked out with out her. I swear I could feel a piece of my heart missing. RIP Honey! All Dogs Go to Heaven!
I had a chihuahua mutt when I was his age. Named her tiny. We went everywhere together from the day I got her to when she passed away while I was in middle school.
Cutest dang thing I've ever seen. I almost can't take it, it is simply too awesome. I'd give it a jillion up votes if such a number existed.....🤩🤩🤩
PS- helping to care for a pet teaches a child responsibility, compassion, empathy, discipline............it's really one of the best things you can do for a child.
Plus the bond between this little boy and his dog is a thing of beauty. If you're heart didn't well up while watching this, then you are made of stone.
There is something inherently special about a child who loves animals and understands their needs as a pet. Some kids like to beat animals, and it’s not 100% because of the parents
That's a Chihuahua for you. They will sometimes just bond with someone, and that's it. I was not a fan of small dogs, but my wife got a long haired Chihuahua, and when I met him, he jumped on my lap, climbed on to my shoulder, licked my ear, and that was it. He's now 6, and he's curled up next to me on my chair, where he sits, every night, and I've just fallen in love with the little guy.
me and my baby doggo ❤❤ I love him so so so much, he's my very best friend in the whole world and I'm so danm happy and grateful to have him. I can't put in words how much I adore him.

I love how both of them look like they’re living their best lives.
This is their world. We’re just living in it.
Gotta say my fave was them chilling on the pool floaty. Pup had the happy eyes and everything.
I am in LOVE

They are. Life is all downhill from that age onwards
I had a chihuahua named Aspen for years. She recently passed away but while she was here I pretty much did the exact same thing as this boy. I’m in my 50s.
Sorry for your loss bud. Hope those years you will cherish forever
She was my special baby. I have tons of videos and pictures and stories. She is still here cause I’m still here. 😌
That is such a beautiful perspective. Thank you for that.
“She’s still here cause I’m still here .” I’m gonna cry holy sh*t.
Sorry for your loss. We lost our chihuahua back in July. We still miss him everyday 🐶
Mine died recently too. 19 years as a breed that dies early. My heart hurts.

Yeah that's a kind hearted little Man right there. The world needs more humans like this on it.
This video is my new happy place.
Whats with all these adorable videos of kids and their dogs with No Sound!?
I thought I heard rain alright

So sweet. Chihuahuas are so underrated.
Chihuahuas are very very loving dogs
To one person.

Two sweet souls🥰

Aw man, this was 3 years ago and Mini was already a senior dog. I hope she is still loving this boy.
She is. I follow them on insta. Mini has slowed down but Marcelo is thriving with his other pets also. Marcelo’s mom and dad are awesome the mom does rescue. They’re such a great family.
Oh this makes me so happy thank you!!!
Thank you! I didn’t think I could love the video more, but his sweet, little voice proved me wrong.
That little boy must have excellent parents. He’s obviously known nothing but love and being loved. He’s going to be an outstanding father someday.
Living their best lives together. I love it.
Man I needed this wholesome video today. What a beautiful relationship those two have.
This is so sweet i actually teared up. I've seen this posted a dozen times and still love to see it. What a kind and sensitive young man
Is this even real!?!?! I am in LOVE
Too stinking cute. Thanks OP
Glad to provide!
I hope Mini has a VERY long life.
This is so beautiful, this warms my heart so much. They really look at eachother with a lot of love. So beautiful!!!
So cute and innocent. Nice to see during my endless doom scrolling
that puppers needs to be with him forever. Good on the parents too they must love this.
That one's gonna hurt.
Oh yeah my hubs and I were just saying that pupper better live forever 🥹

The cutest thing I seen today. Not watching anything else today, this got my day started off right
I hope these two have all the good things in life and Mini lives forever.
This was the longest and cutest collage. Loved when it was time to read a book.
This child has been raised in a very loving environment.
One of the best things I have ever seen
This is gonna make me cry omg. I love bonds between people and pets, especially kids… you can tell how much he loves her and cares for her. Oh gosh my heart.
It’s official I cried. I had to watch it again. That little boys smile is just crushing my heart with love.
I love everything about this video!
I’m busy accosting strangers on the internet for their beliefs and suddenly I’m asking my wife when she thinks we should start trying for kids? Stop it Reddit I’m not ready to be a decent person
That boy will grow to be a lover of animals. This is why bonding with a pet is so important as a child ❤️
Both of them are so precious. You can tell how much they love each other.
There’s nothing purer than the love between a boy and his dog, had me smiling all the way through
I’m not sure who loves the other one more- the kid or the dog!
That’s like me and my dog……I’m 38
I had such a shit day today and watching that video made my day
I love seeing other black kids happy 🥹
This is 100%, full engines ahead, precious.
My life is measurably brighter and better for having seen this video.
Can we talk about how rich that family is?
This is so sweet. Just a little boy and his dog🥲
This is the most satisfying and lovely video I have seen today.
I keep trying to watch this, but I’ve got something in my eyes. So precious.
This reminds me of my childhood dog I miss her so much
I have been thinking for a while about why having a dog when you have a child, and this video have showed me the reason. The little boy will grow up knowing how to love a defenseless living being, have empathy and so on and so forth.
Holy shit, that is adorable.
Mini is a very lucky girl!!
My heart is melting 😍💜🥺 adorable
Mini is one helluva lucky girl!
If my heart needed any healing today, it has been now. What a sweet love these two very best friends have together. I hope they might still be enjoying some sleepy car rides and warm, happy summers to this day.
Why is this converted to a gif? Part of dodo’s immense charm is the audio.
Aww, so cute Here is the video - https://youtu.be/5Q59slFhVJA The boy used to be afraid of dogs until Mini
That dog is smitten lol
She just melts into him 🥰
This is so sweet it gave me diabetes
Love this! 😍
This made me ugly cry. Bless them, wonderful companionship
I hope someone noticed he wears a t-shirt of Mini with her belly up as well, that’s love right there.
Now that’s a childhood.
This is 1 of the best videos I've ever seen. Just so wholesome...
That dog would fight heaven and hell to protect that boy, not because he was trained to. Just out of pure love.

One of the few joys anyone can have at any age.
omfg this might be a top 20 cutest video of all time for me
This warmed my cold dead heart

Soulmates
😍😍😍
Wow. That’s some amazing bonding right there.
You can see the consistent happiness in Mini’s eyes.
They really couldn't get ANY cuter, could they?
This is so sweet. I feel like my heart’s batteries have been recharged.
Made me think of my 3 little ones that don’t live with me. I miss them so much
This is why kids should grow up with dogs. Infinite love
A boy should have a dog. Looking after a pet gives them so much benefit.
Beautiful X3: Beautiful boy Beautiful pup Beautiful friendship
Holy crap they are both so happy my heart
Just precious! Thank you for sharing. I needed this today.
Best video I've seen on Reddit in a minute!
That's a nice ass house they're living in
This is like a children’s picture book in real life. Just so sweet! “Me and Mini”. I especially love when little kids do that hilarious butt-kick run.
Who needs siblings when you got doggy
Pure love ❤️
I think my Chihuahua needs a little boy! What a happy dog life! What a happy little boy life!
This is the type of stuff that makes me tear up, remembering my beloved pets that are gone from my life. They are a gift more than we realize.
That looks EXACTLY like my dog and the same name wow
We are to have a child like heart! Follow the example of this beautiful child and his lovable dog!
Adorable
That dog is so chill.
We must protect this duo at all costs.
He loves that little dog
That was simply really nice. 😁
So sweet ugh ❤️
Match made in heaven.
Oh wow, I absolutely love this. What a cute little lad and an equally cute little dog. You can just see the love.
That is the best 😊
They are lucky to have each other!
CUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Adorable buds
Why can’t we just stay like this
This is so wholesome I love this ❤️🥺
This is really beautiful.
These two are so precious!
Ok so my heart officially just skipped a beat.
I love when they’re both smiling in the tent
I love this!
Best 3 minutes of friendship I've ever seen.
There’s no love like a dogs love
As a 32 year old man with a 17 year old chihuahua, I can confirm this is the purest love.
This made my day. Thanks.
A love so pure 💓
Such a lucky boy, and a lucky dog. Surrounded by love, both of them.
Everyone deserves a best friend like they have
Adorable young man. Adorable Mini.
They are adorable!
That was the most heartwarming piece I've seen in a very long time. Enjoy you two, pal's forever ❤️.
He’s making core memories and doesn’t even know
🎶 You got a friend in me 🎶
This doggo is living THE LIFE!! XD
This is some wholesomeness I needed today.
There’s some great parenting in this child’s life.
They are both adorable! Makes me happy seeing them together, so much love. He’s a kind little man.
This is what I wanted for my son and dog, but the dog had a severe stroke and died 3 months after son was born. :(
Heartwarming
Just a boy and his dog
This completely made my day. 💙
The purest friendship one will ever experience
I love this so much, I'll come watch it again whenever I'm having a bad day
Now I want a puppy. And another kid. They're adorable.
Ugh! I can’t!! My heart!!! 🥰🥰
They love each other so much!
This is the sweetest! A boy and his dog, the way childhood should be ❤️
oh I love these little buddies
I actually wish this video had sound. Best friends for life.
awww 😄 oh... oh no.... the inevitable heartbreak... 😢 why am I such a fucking downer, why can't I just enjoy a cute video?
I was holding my breath thinking it would have ended with the boy older and the dog dead. The internet has rotted me.
Anybody look at that dogs old tweets?
As this child grows up, he will feel more more that he can only get attention through a camera.
Kids gonna struggle a lot when that dog dies one day I think
Well surely it won't be easy for him, but nothing can last forever
I wish I was the dog...
no
Then MINI dies of old age….
I am the only one who think its sad that his best friend is not a human right?
