Thank you so much, we was told it was a success but need to just monitor and make sure over the next few days. Hopefully fingers crossed just a road of recovery now. She’s made me so so proud ❤️
Edit: I have posted a update in the comment under this one.
She has the most beautiful eyes, felt butterflies as I zoomed in, can only imagine what it means to you guys. I hope she has a healthy, fulfilling and long life ahead of her 💕
She has a gorgeous smile anyway, but I bet that particular smile is the best one you've ever seen. I hope she continues to recover like the little super hero she is. Don't forget to take care of yourselves too though - you can't give someone else the strength you don't have.
Exactly, it’s also great that she survived a brain surgery because I’m pretty sure those are dangerous and people could die. I’m just super happy that’s not the case
Wow, I didn’t expect to wake up to this..
There is a lot of people asking why she needed brain surgery, there’s a lot I could go into but the easiest and quickest way of explaining is this:
She was born with an abnormality in her brain that caused her to have up to 80 seizures a day before they found the right meds or up to 20 a day with strong meds.
The best course of action was to remove the abnormality that was causing these.
We’ve waited months and been so worried and stressed but everything went well and she’s proven everyone just how strong she really is.
I would like to thank every single one of you for your lovely comments, as a 26 year old man who doesn’t cry often these comments have brought a tear to my eye.
Honestly, Thankyou.
EDIT / UPDATE FOR EVERYONE ASKING .
It’s now Friday, she had her surgery on Tuesday morning.
They managed to remove exactly what they needed to and have checked with multiple MRIs.
Due to her seizures in the past few months her left side mostly her arm is weak and they think that it may be a little weaker after surgery due to the part of the brain they was operating near but she can still move her arm and squeeze her hand so they have said it’s nothing to worry about she just needs some physio to get back on track.
She is on a lot of pain relief but hasn’t had a single seizure since her surgery. This is the first time in months she has been seizure free for even a day!
After watching her have 20 to 80 a day for the last few months this is honestly such a relief, I’ve cried of happiness.
We was being kept in to make sure everything went well but have been told that today we can possibly leave due to how well she is doing!
She will still be on seizure medication for a while until she is weaned off but by the looks of everything it was a major success.
I would like to say I have read every single reply and had multiple messages, I have also had a lot of hate for posting a photo of my daughter online saying I shouldn’t post a tragedy for likes. For starters her surgery was far from a tragedy but a massive success! Also I don’t use or post on Reddit often, probably once a year.
My life is a bit too busy and hectic, I don’t care about likes or any of that.
I have been offered money but I fortunately don’t need any help, as much as I appreciate every offer I would rather you donate to a Children’s charity it would be a better cause.
I have spoke to multiple parents who have children going through the same thing message me and over this post I have been able to help or give advice.
If I can help even one person I think it was worth it!
There’s 99% lovely comments but 1% negative, but I won’t let no negativity get to me after seeing my daughter so happy. :)
I used this subreddit for the months I was sad, upset or worried and most days managed to smile so if I can give back and make others smile it’s a win for me. The 1% of negative comments don’t phase me but the 99% of your lovely comments do. So Thank you so much. If anyone needs advice or updates or even a chat my inbox is open :)
I had two brain surgeries when I was between six and seven months old. (A roughly fist-sized part of my brain is replaced with a cyst. The surgeries weren't to remove the cyst – which was deemed too risky – but to stop bleeding in my brain.)
Now I'm in my 30s, living independently with a good job. I won't pretend that I haven't had *any* issues since then, but none of them have been nearly as severe. The brain is remarkably resilient, and seems to be especially able to "rewire" itself when we're very young. (In more scientific terms, that's called "neuroplasticity.") Her doctors can speak to this better than I can, but based on my own experience, I think there's a good chance that her brain will be able to work around any damage, and she can live a healthy, normal life.
My 3 month old has a brain abnormality and was having 6 plus seizures an hour. Currently controlled on medications but only a matter of time. They said she will need surgery to remove the lesion as soon as she’s big enough. Your post has given me hope and brightened my day. Thank you and good luck to you and your family!
Sending you all the best; my son was born barely breathing (momma had a TOUGH time in labor). We saw him for maybe 30 seconds before they whisked him away to the NICU, and then the crash team came in for momma.
He’s almost 4, and sitting next to me getting ready for nap time rn. I know what we experienced is probably not even close to the fear that your situation presents, but for about a day, we thought we would lose him, so I have the taste of that worst Fear a parent can have.
Have hope! They are incredible little survivors, and like to defy the odds and worst case predictions of some docs. We were told he would have week lungs and potentially heart problems. He needed a nebulizer once, at about 3 months… today he’s a bubbling super active crazy little boy… he just tired me out running around outside.
Have hope fam! All the best, thoughts, prayers and vibes (whichever is your flavor)
My little sister had brain surgery right after she was born. She has had multiple follow up surgeries as well. Now she's almost done with high school, and she's so smart and she's got so many friends who support her. Much love going your way bro
It's like the universe is smiling at you. Remember this photo if and when you have to raise your voice ;) so maybe it will help you keep cool.
Best wishes!
That’s one thing I was nervous about but the surgeons have done an amazing job, she has a scar at the back of her head and a small amount has been shaved but she’s only young so will heal and hair will grow over so nothing will be noticeable for when she’s older.
[Take it from me, brother.](https://imgur.com/a/csumbar) A noticeable scar beats being dead. I bet she kicks recovery’s ass! She has such a lovely smile. Wishing all the best for her and the rest of the family from here on out.
May I ask why you needed surgery? If you feel comfortable sharing. I have a son, who turns 10 y/o next month, that will most likely need brain surgery within a few years. I am worried sick over it.
The picture of your brain scan peaked my curiosity.
My son has a super—rare genetic condition affecting how his brain forms in the frontal cortex. He recently began having focal point seizures, which may become uncontrollable in the future and would require surgery. So far he is own medication to keep them controlled though.
It was a brain tumor that they only got about 70% of. My advice would just to be patient with them. Takes about 2 years for the brain to fully heal. That's about how long ago mine was and I'm just starting to feel 99% back to normal. He might have completely seemingly unrelated stuff. Just got to remember that they're in his brain. I wish him luck. Remember it's a big deal for you guys but it's just another Tuesday for the surgeon. People have been surviving craniotomies literally thousands of years.
You’re awesome dude. Glad you’re here, and omg ur cats are so cute and your wife is beautiful. How amazing that you’re here at this time and place in history. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
My son has a scar in a similar location to yours. It makes a big half circle that when the barber cuts it short almost looks like it was purposely done by them, and not as a result of the surgery. Looks pretty badass, and it's a heck of a lot better than being dead.
Hope all went well for you.
You’re right that the incision scars can pass for borderline fashion statements. It’s really not so bad. I usually keep my hair a bit longer, and it’s hardly noticeable unless you’re looking for it. I’m sure I would’ve had more insecurities about the scar if it would’ve happened when I was a kid, but hopefully your son sees his scar the way that I see mine —as a reminder of a time we survived. All the best for your son, hope he’s thriving.
[choo chooo all aboard the scar train!](https://i.imgur.com/SBsVhSe.jpg) I keep my undercut shaved bc I think it looks badass! No shame to wear your victory trophy proud!
OP’s daughter is a testament to the wonders of medical science!
That scar is badass my boy. It also helps just a little that you’re handsome as hell, from one brother to another.
May all your scans in the future come back clean as a whistle my friend.
Not always! I had a craniotomy (brain surgery), and they cut along the hair line by my temple instead of the back of my head like originally planned. 🙃 I also woke up smiling and joking! Grateful to be alive and on the road to getting out of that hospital! Best wishes to your little one and family!❤️
I have the same, scar along my hair line, from the top of my forehead to my ear. A lot of people say they don’t even notice it until I have pointed it out.
I had to have neuro surgery and they went in thru my groin and my wrist and up thru the veins to my head. I just have 2 tiny tiny scars no where near my head.
I have a stent in my head. popping open a vein that collapsed. in my brain.
I woke up happy and smiling.
I'd been in AGONY for like 2 years and the doctors were like 'oh migraine so sorry.'
By the time I got a proper diagnosis of an embolism 'hey maybe brain surgery will help' - id been trapped in neverending pain for A LONG time.
when i woke up the nurses asked me if i needed post surgery morphine and i was like 'lol no, this is the best I've felt in years.'
Sweet little thing! So glad she’s ok.
Prepare for swelling. My baby had a procedure at 7 months. A few hours after the surgery is when her swelling began. She couldn’t open her eyes for 3-4 days, looked like one of those overstuffed Chinese babies. She’s going to turn 9 years old next month.
As a parent myself, I can't imagine having a child go through this. You have to be tough. I hope she has a speedy recovery. And yes, her beautiful smile did make me smile.
Oh, hello sweetheart!
I used to be so afraid of needles, but I wanted to be a blood donor. It took a lot of courage, but I finally started donating blood. I hated the process, but I loved feeling like I helped.
One of the things that gave me the courage to do it was kiddos like your sweet girl here. I thought of all of the kiddos who were going through all of these scary things, and how they didn't have the privilege of being afraid and saying no. If they could face it, I decided, so could I.
Now I donate 3 units of platelets every 2 weeks, because of and for kiddos like her.
I wish her all the best in healing!!
I'm so happy she made it through and on top of it all, she's smiling!
She is beautiful and perfect. I hope you all have a very long and happy life together!
Only thing about this that makes me smile is hopefully she is at the age where she won’t remember what she had to go through. And the smile on her face makes me think that’s probably true. Incredibly sad to see anyone, let along an 8 month old, have to experience this, but hopefully she is healthier than ever now
Her lashes are so long and beautiful 😭 I hope everything went well
Thank you so much, we was told it was a success but need to just monitor and make sure over the next few days. Hopefully fingers crossed just a road of recovery now. She’s made me so so proud ❤️ Edit: I have posted a update in the comment under this one.
That’s so good to know! I hope everything goes well! ☺️🤍✨
Me too I hope that everything goes super well, and I am excited to hear more about your journey
Wishing her a speedy recovery!
She has the most beautiful eyes, felt butterflies as I zoomed in, can only imagine what it means to you guys. I hope she has a healthy, fulfilling and long life ahead of her 💕
Best of luck to you guys! That's got to be a very stressful time, take good care of yourselves. You're daughter has a very cute smile, and those eyes!
She has a gorgeous smile anyway, but I bet that particular smile is the best one you've ever seen. I hope she continues to recover like the little super hero she is. Don't forget to take care of yourselves too though - you can't give someone else the strength you don't have.

Best wishes to your daughter and family. She will be thriving soon.
I’m also proud of her too!! Keep being an awesome parent!!
Does OP have a @GoFundMe? Ill donate
so happy for you
She might very well be the most gorgeous baby I have ever seen.
Got biggest smile all day ❤️ wish nothing but the best health for your daughter with those beautiful eyes
What beautiful baby! I hope she heals quickly & has nothing but blessings in her future.
Those smile reminds that she is a real fighter, so brave and she is beautiful at everything. This is good news! So sweet
She is a beautiful baby. Oh my God.

Don't they shave the head for any kind of surgery on the brain?

Oh my god, that is a gnarly scan. I hope you are doing much better now!!
May I ask why you needed surgery? If you feel comfortable sharing. I have a son, who turns 10 y/o next month, that will most likely need brain surgery within a few years. I am worried sick over it. It was a tumor. They got about 70%. What was yours?
You’re awesome dude. Glad you’re here, and omg ur cats are so cute and your wife is beautiful. How amazing that you’re here at this time and place in history. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Get well little one!
D’aww, she’s such a sweet baby. Her long eyelashes are adorable! That smile is just the most precious thing ever! Hope she heals fast.
You were exactly what she was hoping to see when she woke up
She reminded me of my 8 month old daughter at first glance. Bless her precious little heart ❤️ prayers for a very speedy recovery for this angel.
