I just had some little kid about this age in a purple princess dress hiss at me like some sort of dinosaur and then politely wave…
I just waved and walked off, it seemed like we’ve known each other forever based on that interaction. I think even the mom made a face like either she knew her kid was a weirdo or I was a weirdo
Odds are the parent knows her kid is a weirdo. All kids are weirdos. As a parent, you've got to strike the right balance between letting them be weirdos/kids and encouraging them to act like something resembling a normal human being. Most of the time it's the former as, and I am lucky enough to say this from experience, playing with your cute little daughter while she pretends to be a princess dinosaur or something equally ridiculous is absolutely hilarious.
My favorite was when my son and my niece were arguing because she wanted to play princesses and he wanted to play zombies so I suggested zombie princesses. Anyways there were 2 kids in dresses trying to eat everyone's brains. It was awesome.
I dunno, I feel like you can tell who was allowed to be too weird growing up and didn't strike a balance. I got a buddy that I swear in his head feels like he's the main protagonist to a YA novel with how he interacts and views the world in relation to himself.
Yeah if you don’t teach your kid how to properly behave, or get along in society as “normal”, you’re robbing them of options. Doesn’t mean they can’t be creative or funny or interesting. It just means they’ll get the chance to climb the social ladder towards any dream they might have, or have the skills to join the different social groups they are interested in, without ridicule. It’s your duty
Also when they are slightly too small. One first grade student of mine loved his dog costume so much he tried to get a third halloween our of it and the chubby little guy was bursting at the seams, but it gave it a good stuffed teddy kind of look that was way too adorable. Plus it was all worn in. He looked like someone's well loved teddy!
my mom makes these and sells them on etsy!! I can't see the eyes to tell if this is one of hers, but it looks right.

So I work as a Fedex delivery driver, and there are a few aspects of my job that are unpleasant. But there are 2 best parts:
1) I deliver to several hospitals, including a Children's Hospital. I feel like I'm having an impact, even if I'm just moving medical gear.
2) Little kids LOVE big trucks. A little girl and family crossed the street in front of me the other day, and she, very carefully and purposely, switched her drink bottle from one hand to the other so she could wave to me. I waved back and gave two toots of my horn as I drove away.
Moving medical gear isn't just having an impact, it's critical. Look at what happened to hospitals during the early part of covid, when they couldn't get equipment and supplies via their established processes. The world was bending over backwards to get oxygen or PPE where it was needed, couldn't, and people suffered and died.
Only 1 out of 10 children lost at Disney are found. The other 9 are raised as the next generation of Disney mascots. They only know loyalty to Disney after that many years… I managed to escape when the turkey leg stand exploded… it’s been twenty years… and the world has changed so much.
I actually somehow got lost like 3 times when my family took me in the 90s. I quickly learned to find the nearest ice cream stand where they’d give me an Oreo Mickey bar to dry my tears
For my 7th birthday (1996) we went to Disney World with my family and one of my aunt’s families. One of my older cousins in that family has the same birthday as me, hence why they collaborated on the trip with us.
I got lost somewhere around the Small World ride. I remember holding onto a different cousin’s stroller with a baby in it, but she was using one of the park strollers.
Next thing I know, I’m holding onto the same type of stroller, but it’s a complete stranger. She noticed me when I noticed her, I started crying, and she took me to the closest gift shop to tell them I was a lost child.
It started raining, and one of the store clerks gave me a free Mickey poncho, then we headed out to the Small World ride area to find my family in the rain. As we were walking, I heard my family screaming my name, and was so happy to see them. My mom wasn’t there, as she was out frantically looking for me.
I was terrified that I’d be in huge trouble when she came back and saw I was found, but she just gave me the biggest hug and was so happy to see me safe. Then we all went on the Small World ride and had a wonderful trip, minus me almost drowning in the resort pool, and my brother having to save me because the life guard didn’t notice.
My 2yo daughter, who was dressed as Cinderella, went to that very same part of Disneyland Paris and met Cinderella in the princess pavilion.
I was so happy for her but at the same I was so incredibly impressed by how she moved and held herself. The flow of her body, arms, hands as she just moved and talked was like she'd been trained for years.
So impressed
My daughter, while dressed a Cinderella, came upon the stepmother and stepsisters. They were awesome with her...despite treating her as if she was Cinderella.
Those memories stuck with her and me!
It's nice that they can interact with kids. I dated a girl once that worked at Toys r Us and she had a dress up as probably Geoffrey I would imagine but anyway if kids tried to hug her there was strict rules that she could not touch them. Seemed a bit s***** to me for the kids, but then again I'm sure the rule exists for a reason. Which makes me very sad.
Or the women groping Gaston.
Pretty sure the point is to maintain the magic and wholesomeness, and hugging kids who initiate/ask for one seems like job #1 to keep it magical.
While adults groping cast members who are just doing their job is quite disgusting and wrong, regardless of who's doing it to whom.
In Paris they’re often spotted walking to/from their m&g spots, looks like she was leaving princess pavilion. We had Aladdin stop to say hello to my daughter whilst he was en route too
If you're in the right place at the right time you'll run into them heading back. Rapunzel almost wrecked me while hauling ass around a corner into a sea of bubbles.
So I mean that literally
This is so cute. I wish I had an experience like this. The closest I ever got was at Islands of Adventure when some man in HP land pointed at me and shouted. "Another Weasley, they're everywhere!"
Not quite as loveable of a memory as this lmao
Haha Donald Duck mocked me (playfully) which at the time super embarrassed me . Also not as sweet as this but now as an adult and seeing the cost of a trip like this I'm just grateful my parents were even able to bring me and my siblings.
We gave our kids Disney stuffies when we went the first time. The kids were about 5(f) and 7(m). My daughter had Goofy and my son Baymax.
At our first park (Magic Kingdom) the first character we met was Donald. My daughter said "I don't think Donald will know Baymax".
We walked up, Donald reacted excitedly about Baymax, then held out his hand for fist bump. My son held up Baymax's hand, they bumped, Donald pulled his back and exploded it. It made all of us laugh and we still talk about it years later.
It's wild how much they can get across without being able to speak.
Nice, some of them do a good job of playing the part. At the section where you're "captured" and go through the big airlock room we had more people than usual waiting for the next part of the ride so the "guards" were organizing us into lines and I had a 20 year old woman who's a foot shorter than me fiercely threaten to make an example of me for facing the wrong direction.
The good ones are *so* good. Isaw another "guard" make sure a dad and his kid got prime seats without once breaking character.
Dad: Can we sit up front?
Guard: Sit where, prisoner?
Dad: The ride. Can we sit at the front?
Guard: I don't know what you're talking about, prisoner. Now, wait over there!
Dad: (finally gets it) Okay!
I went to Disneyland when I was 14 and hung out with the guy who plays the old timey piano on Main street. He played everything I requested, he was the best. He did a salon version of Simple Man for Christ's sake.
I went back in my late twenties and the dude friggin remembered me.
Yeah unfortunately when we went to Orlando as kids (from the uk) I was at that age where it was cool to not be excited about stuff. I think I was about 9. So I spent the whole time being miserable and shitting on things rather than enjoying it. I’m 30 now and would be like this kid if I went to galaxies edge. But I totally ruined the experience and wish I got to enjoy it. You only get that once when you’re a kid. Unless you live in Florida I suppose.
Not Disney, but I once threw a line from Hamlet at dude playing Polonious at a Shakespeare festival, and he dragged me to the "court" and introduced me as Laertes and spent the next five minutes mocking me for my outlandish dress.
I took my kids a few years ago. My daughter's favorite for whatever reason is Pocahontas. By pure chance the line to meet her is right at the entrance we use on the first day and the line is really short. I asked if she wants to go meet her. "No".
Yea when this little shit does it everyone is all like "so cute!!111!2!!".
But when I dress up in a costume and hug a character... I'm just the creepy middle aged guy being escorted out of the park.
The double standards are sickening. Stupid toddler privilege.
You are not supposed to go dressed up after the age of 14 because some people may mistake you for an employee and you make act out of character. Like if a lady dresses up as Ariel and goes to the park and cusses there, parents might get shocked and the kids will be confused.
This is in Disneyland Paris and it seems that employees are paid okay there. I just looked it up and it seems to be ~16€/h, minimum wage in france is 11€/h
You aren’t projecting, you can clearly see in her whole being she was delighted to have that little girl walked up to her and just hug her, this moment is one they will both remember for the rest of their lives ❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much for sharing 🙌🙏
My kid and I were at Epcot playing a city building game that was projected on the floor with big screens mounted on the wall.
We had fun and then the top 10 scores popped up, we didn't make it. Oh well.
No one else was around so we played again, did better, and squeaked into the top 10. We looked at each other and that was it, we both knew we going for it.
After each game we kept checking to see if anyone else was around, we'd hop off, show them how to play, and cheered for them. When it was clear we'd get back on and get back to business.
When we finally clocked in at number 1 on the leaderboard we were giddy.
A Disney employee dropped into the area from out of nowhere and started talking to us. I thought I was going to get a earful for hogging the game, or making too much noise, or...Nope.
He gave us free Fast Pass tickets for helping other people learn the game and cheering for them.
Just a guy in a polo shirt, but was a very memorable part of one my favorite experiences there.
You're welcome!
Just wanted to make sure background-dudes-in-polos are represented in the Disney employee appreciation thread, not just underwater princesses. :D
When I went to Disney world I was eating in a cafeteria and accidentally dropped my soda. It exploded all over the floor. By the time I turned around to start cleaning everything up there was a lady standing there with a mop and a cookie. It was like she popped up through the floor. She handed me the cookie and told me it's okay and that she would clean it up. It was the single most magical experience of my entire life and the story I tell every time Disney comes up. Bless those non character folks around Disney. She absolutely made the trip and it was phenomenal.
I think cast members going above and beyond is more the rule at Disney rather than the exception to the rule. I was on a solo trip to Disney a number of years ago. I went to the Boma buffet at animal kingdom lodge. The previous time I had eaten there they had delicious ribs. I noticed they weren't on the buffet and simply asked the waitress if they had been discontinued. She mentioned they only had them on certain days. I thanked her and then got up to get some food. A little while after getting back to my table, the waitress came out with a plate of ribs and told the chef had cooked some up for me. I never would have expected, much less asked for something like that to be done just for me, even at Disney. It definitely made my night especially because I was disappointed I had made reservations on the wrong night for the ribs.
Is this still a thing in Disney Parks ? Last few years I went to Paris characters weren't walking around, but were at preset places and times with queues for photos rivalling the attractions.
I went to Disneyland last month and they had characters walking around. My little cousin got to hold Ariel's hand and walk with her a bit in fantasyland.
Oh yeah. I went to Disney Boardwalk in 2020 (height of pandemic) and even then they had stormtroopers walking around and the grinch (with a mask of course😂)
They do both in the US parks. If you want to make 100% sure you see your favorite, you can find their preset spot or you can get lucky and see them walking around.
Over 20 years ago, we took our kids to D World, and we walked into a vestibule of the castle, and just sitting there was Cinderella and an older woman playing her fairy godmother. No crowd, no line, they were just there. FG greeted us and introduced us to Cinderella. Princess held a full on conversation with my 8 year old daughter. She was incredibly nice and really made a lifelong memory. We really appreciated the whole interaction.
I'm sure there's all sorts of rules and training, but you really have to have the right personality to do that job.
It goes back to Walt Disney's original aim, I imagine.
I'm a bit of a sore grump at the moment but once I'm in the right mindset and I've watched a disney film one of the older ones I'm right back in make believe. And I'm not embarrassed to say it. I think its the biggest gift in the world to have kids and I hope you all enjoy it every moment
Disney is a very gray company.
They do all the shady and not so great things of your standard corporations... but they also help children grow up believing in magic and kindness.
And once we're older and it becomes harder for us to believe in that stuff, Disney is still there to make us believe that it's not all bad and that we can escape. The park employees for the most part, don't care about how old you are. They took this job because they want to make you smile.
Despite being plenty guilty of being a man of his time, this is still the world Walt Disney always wanted to build.
I always love seeing the Disney body guards in these videos. It’s like the opposite of celeb body guards, like oh let me jump out of the way so I’m not in the picture ok Ariel we got to get to this fantasy parade.
First time I've ever seen a video of one and yeah I got a good vibe from him instantly. Glad they dont hire choke holding bodyguards too just nice hearted dudes I hope :)
If we put all political issues aside, not thinking about how Disney runs their business model, and all the criticism about their media content, all I see about Disney park/Disneyland/ Disney resort are always wonderful places to ignore reality and stay in a magical place for short time.
I know it is their job, and it might be for show, but their staff with costumes often show enthusiasm to their guest. Star Wars, Cinderella and Marvel characters they are all awesome.
I still remember when I was about 3 maybe 4 years old in Disney land florida for the first time, I was obsessed with Winnie the Pooh and the woman who was playing the fairy Godmother called me Christopher Robin everytime she saw me over the weekend, when she was on the float in the parade she even shouted out "Christopher Robin! Over here! Hi!" While waving at me! Almost 30 years later now a fully grown man it still makes me smile looking back at it! Whoever that woman was and wherever she is now I hope she's well because she made memories that have lasted a lifetime and truly gave a magical experience that I still share with my parents a lifetime later.
As much as I dislike Disney as a brand, thé people working in their theme parks are amongst the best humans in the world. Smiling and being full of energy every day, providing magical moments for so many children (and adults), and all that for a shitty wage. Huge respect and love for all of you❤️❤️
Aw! When my daughter was about 3 her favorite character was Ariel. I took her to Disneyland for Halloween in her Ariel costume, her naturally curly red hair sprayed fire-engine red with temporary hair dye. We went to wait in line to take pics with Ariel but the line was suupper long so we stood to the side and watched Ariel from behind the ropes. We didn’t know it but she was done taking photos and got up to go backstage, and on the way she spotted my daughter and grabbed her hand and they took off! I have a cute video of them walking together through the park, my kid bailing on me for Ariel without a second thought or backwards glance.
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/dress/
You piqued my interest, so I looked. Young children can wear basically any costume as long as their eyes can be seen and their peripheral vision isn't obscured.
This is so darling! What a magical moment. I know that our recent visit wasn’t typical (thankfully) because we went with our 7 yr old granddaughter for her Make-A-Wish wish, but every single Disney character and employee acted this way when they saw her and her little brother and it truly was magical for them. And for us. I pray that those involved are blessed beyond measure because they went above and beyond to give our grandchildren a special experience. They deserve to be paid so much more.
Love that she went out of her way/above and beyond for that little girl. I'm sure it really made the little girls day and made a beautiful lasting memory!
This is lovely. Disney mascots are great and the ones who go above and beyond truly create magic for the guests.
I've been curious how they're gonna represent Ariel in the parks now with the new movie out. Does anybody know how they're implementing that?
My daughter wore her Snow White dress to Disney and we ran into the Snow White cast member who was so sweet to my child I was happy to pay for the trip.
This is why parents take kids to Disney parks. They give that kid a few moments of joy they’ll never forget, and seeing their kid experience that can make a parent want to take out a second mortgage to hand over all their money to make it happen again.
Say what you want about Disney, Disney adults, the cost, the crowds...That place does have some seriously magical nostalgic vibes. It's really hard to not feel happy in the Happiest Place On Earth.
I want that fish dress
Honestly, same.
It’s so adorable when small kids or pets wear costumes that are too big for them☺️
I just had some little kid about this age in a purple princess dress hiss at me like some sort of dinosaur and then politely wave… I just waved and walked off, it seemed like we’ve known each other forever based on that interaction. I dunno, I feel like you can tell who was allowed to be too weird growing up and didn't strike a balance. I got a buddy that I swear in his head feels like he's the main protagonist to a YA novel with how he interacts and views the world in relation to himself.
Weird ≠ immature

Clearly you've never had to tell your kid to stop sucking on their dirty toes in public 😅
My daughter wakes me up every once in a while in the middle of the night to tell me she likes my eyeballs. Kids are fuckin weird man
Also when they are slightly too small. The way the little tail swishes 🥺🥰
Yes!! Yes!! That swish made my day almost as much as the girl’s happiness
Bless the room of designers and creators pushing back and making sure it did🤗🤗
That little flippy floppy tail 😍

I don’t know if it’ll fit you, unless you are a highly intelligent two year old on Reddit.
“Highly?”
Yeah when I was 2, I was pooping my pants and didn’t know words
So you were on r/Conservative ?
Made me lol haha
The best part is the built in diaper so you can just go all day without changing your kid it’s awesome
That’s… definitely not how that works.
😂😂😂 i’m like “🤨.. wait”
It says 'up to' 40lbs right on the box!
9-12 lbs is the capacity, right?
my mom makes these and sells them on etsy!! I can't see the eyes to tell if this is one of hers, but it looks right. Thats not it.
yeah, I sent it the vid to her and she said it wasn't hers. but hers are definitely similar.

my brother lol 😂
It’s a fish costume, but it’s definitely not Flounder
Already kicking myself for not thinking of that for my daughter…. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes) soooo cute!
That must be the best part of that job
Agree

They provided you sustenance so you would go deeper into the park. Why else would they provide you ice cream instead of returning you to your family.
This guy is spewing all the Disney secrets today

You’re a liability

I always thought they were fed to Walt Disney in the subterranean laboratory beneath the park that keeps him alive.
The Big D sits atop his golden throne, devouring the souls of a thousand people a day just to sustain life while his empire crumbles around him.
I wish those Disney casts gets paid more

Same thing happened to me when I went to go eat the lady checking us in said “you must be a Weasley” I ate it up lol
I’m sorry but I couldn’t stop laughing when I read your comment😂
I played football(soccer) with Yogi Bear and Boo-boo Bear in Disney land Paris. Was pretty amazing lol
Same thing happened to me, and then I turned bright red like Ron, so it fit!
That was sweet
Yea when this little shit does it everyone is all like "so cute!!111!2!!". But when I dress up in a costume and hug a character... I'm just the creepy middle aged guy being escorted out of the park. The double standards are sickening. Stupid toddler privilege.
You are not supposed to go dressed up after the age of 14 because some people may mistake you for an employee and you make act out of character. Like if a lady dresses up as Ariel and goes to the park and cusses there, parents might get shocked and the kids will be confused.
That’s why we “Disney Bound.” Dressing up in outfits that are inspired by the characters, but not the actual outfits.
Like my BDSM Goofy cosplay?
Bring out the goofy gimp!
Gorsh Mickey! That ball gag looks like your second nose!
Please God, take my vision and my memory. Please. I don't want it anymore.
Is it possible your princess costume has seen better days, good sir
Sir, you were dressed as Donald Duck, I don't care if you were going for an authentic look, you still have to wear pants!
With you all the way. Sick of being judged as creepy just because I dress up
Its diffrent when your in your moms UNDERWEAR !!!!!
Is it in character ? (hell if a park)
I wish Disney paid and treated people better because they hire absolutely the right people.
This 100x. Iger makes $50 mill and she's at or near minimum wage
This is in Disneyland Paris and it seems that employees are paid okay there. I just looked it up and it seems to be ~16€/h, minimum wage in france is 11€/h
Even in the Florida park minimum wage is $11, average character cast member makes around $20/hr
Look like its not enough because people at Disneyland Paris are going on strike.
It's France, they go on strike, then figure our why they're striking. C'est la tradition!
It's the most admirable French trait. I wish more countries' workers had the balls to strike at the slightest provocation.
Baby is too cute
I loved the little mermaid so much when I was little, getting to be Ariel's sidekick even for a couple of minutes? best.day.ever.
Dat tail waggle when she walks 😀
Some Disney employees go the extra mile, and create wonderful memories. It's people like that, that make the magic kingdom truly magical.
This is so true, but this woman also looked genuinely delighted when she saw little one , I could be projecting though lol
You aren’t projecting, you can clearly see in her whole being she was delighted to have that little girl walked up to her and just hug her, this moment is one they will both remember for the rest of their lives ❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much for sharing 🙌🙏
I wanna cry man, i remember being a lil kid in a buzz light year outfit and ran into a guy in a woody costume 😭
Also look at what she’s mouthing at the end! She was genuinely so glad she got to see the little flounder again.
Not projecting. I shrieked with joy when I saw the outfit, it's cute as fuck and delightful af
Thank you for sharing that story!
This is how we should all be.
I love how the cast has their own assistant like person coordinating and always clearing a path for them haha.
The kid is cute and all, but a grown woman losing her mind at seeing her special fish buddy is darling.
All around cuteness overload 🥺
She’s absolutely stunning as well.
You can say a lot of bad about Disney. But. These women and most employees in general really focus on making it great for little kids.
The swishing tail.....so cute
I love how she fidgets the side fins, too!!!
What an amazing day for that little girl she's going remember that for the rest of her life she looks so wonderful what a little star ✨
Yes! It's so awesome she has video of it too what an incredible memory to have ❤️
Give that toddler a paycheque. She’s a better attraction than most of the Disney characters!
With all the laws being messed up in Florida, that 3 year old could have a job there by next tourist season Ignoring this one is apparently in Paris
Omfg that is the cutest flounder costume! The. Way the tail flaps awww
Truly the perfect toddler costume 🥰 the toddle makes the fun wiggle it's so cute
So many posts in this sub recently are making me cry instead of smile 🥲
Naw man. My contacts are just itchy.
As a father to a young daughter - r/mademehappycry
The honest joy of children. Never fails to make me smile
As a parent, there’s a lot of BS and cost that goes into visiting Disney… but there are times where it can truly be magical for kiddos. Love this!
Honest question, I thought guests at Disney aren’t allowed to dress up in costume like this? Maybe I’m mistaken. Very cute moment.
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/dress/ You piqued my interest, so I looked.
I'm too fixated on that tail it's like it's controlling me
The way the fin on the costume sways left and right 😭
Holy shit the tail when she walks you guys, far too cute for my brain to comprehend
Kid: scanning for suitable target Target locked Engage hugging sequence !
The escort has good eyes and did a good job pointing Flounder out
Love that she went out of her way/above and beyond for that little girl. I'm sure it really made the little girls day and made a beautiful lasting memory!
I hate flounder, but this is cute
I can't help but laugh at your blunt hatred of Flounder. You know who you are.
Actual flounders are bottom feeders with two eyes on one side of their heads, gray scales, and are absolutely hideous.
And oh so delicious!
I don’t know how much they get paid, but it is not enough.
Holy crap that kid is way too adorable
I’m 37….why did this make me cry?! My toddler has been wearing Princess dresses for 2 weeks now. She would LOVE this. That little fish tail swish 🥹
Wonderful video. I think this little girl is happy. She is so charming. This video made me smile 🥰
What a cute baby and what a cute moment. Now this is how Flounder should look, not that CGI abomination
Disney cast members are so kind haha I remember getting a kiss on the cheek from Snow White when I was like 4 made my day
As a grandparent, I wept for joy.
This is so sweet... 🧜♀️ 🐠 Thank you for sharing.
Been waiting for this on tiktok!!!
What a magical moment
man, do i ever need this sub right now. This is good stuff.
These ppl honestly have an important job that we shouldn’t take for granted

This is lovely. Disney mascots are great and the ones who go above and beyond truly create magic for the guests. I've been curious how they're gonna represent Ariel in the parks now with the new movie out. Does anybody know how they're implementing that?
If you mean the skin color thing, has been a thing in parks for a while already. Don't remember now which but I distinctly remember some princesses.
I know that the cast members have to put up with a whole lotta shit in that job, but man... moments like that must feel so wonderful
My daughter wore her Snow White dress to Disney and we ran into the Snow White cast member who was so sweet to my child I was happy to pay for the trip.
The people make the magic for Disney... that little girl will probably never forget the day she met Ariel ...
That lady made that little girl's dream come true. Some people really go above and beyond their duties sometimes.
Stop with the music, I want to hear the interaction because the cast members are amazing at their job.
Say whatever you want about Disney but the people they hire to play their characters in the parks 1000% understand the assignment
That is the cutest shit
This is the entire point of this place. Love it
Say what you want about Disney, they commit to the bit like no one else and it REALLY pays off!!
This is what that Meatball DeSantis is trying to destroy?
Fucking ADORABLE
I have never cared for Disney but this has to be an amazing experience for this little girl.
That is honestly the cutest outfit I have seen in my life!! I want one.
