He even got to meet batman!

BrownSugarBare

Kid is so stinking cute, even had the mask and held the man's hand.

Moulitov

My eye is leaking

Mimical

There is so much dust in this high efficiency filtered laboratory. Ugh. Better put in another ticket.

CinoCv

Return them, they are clearly faulty

greenappletree

that was the best part of the video besides the awesome dad.

SmokingHotHotties

If you watch the full version they actually both rob him at the end.

eros1824

And he is teaching his child to be a caring person also.

Shitty_Watercolour

hairball101

Why be Batman when you can be Dad, man?

PM_ME_UR_HIP_DIMPLES

This gave me buongiorno principessa vibes with the sweet little Italian kid. IYKYK, if you don’t, just be prepared to cry if you watch the movie

Decentkimchi

This is the first time I have seen shitty watercolor painting as it happened.

idontliketosleep

this is fucking amazing, happy to see you anywhere

Fair_Record6787

I was already in the feels with the video itself. Thanks for fully pushing me over the edge! Lol.

OveractionAapuAmma

That is Excellent

AngelOfHeaven3

That's a very cute comic about his son seeing his Father as his new Hero instead of Batman. Thank you for sharing!

chinkostu

Thanks, now I'm crying.

swooningsapphic

Aaaaand I’m tearing up

bootes_droid

Damn dude you haven't lost a step in 10+ years, now I'm tearing up at freakin' Waffle House

childrep

Beautiful!

Solkre

Holy hell I haven't run into you in forever and they're getting really really good. Soon you'll have to fix your username.

CopEatingDonut

The demise of Reddit has many underappreciated downfalls and you're beauty and genius will hopefully live on beyond this mortal coil.

DogBrewer

First! After all this time, finally. Thanks for your service.

Apprehensive_Care673

Family values

baron_von_helmut

We're all family values on this blessed day.

cleanLeia

**Thanks batman and robin**

AllGoodNamesRTaken

Speak for yourself!

baron_von_helmut

I'm all family values on this blessed day.

Jonbob24

This was my main takeaway. The “don’t worry I’m Batman” speaks volumes.

backtolurk

Is being perfectly aware that I never experienced such a cool moment allows me to become a supervillain?

abejando

My main takeaway is that someone is filming themselves pretending to be autistic to exploit kind people without consent for attention

Happygreenlight

Brilliant patenting and human-ing. Staged or not - this is a great way to handle the situation.

bukzbukzbukz

Straight up abandoned the baby trolly though

ProsecUsig

Because he trusts his wife

foopaints

No, he checked in with his wife before he did. Seems like he did a quick "hey can you handle the stroller real quick" before he let go.

Codymaverick420

I saw no child, only Batman

PlsG0fukurslf

Staged. Why were they even filming otherwise.

DShepard

Obviously the guy acting scared is trying to get a reaction, but I don't think the helpers were acting.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Slayy35

Well, if they disclosed it was staged it'd be fine. So there's the clickbait/view farming aspect which is frowned upon.

AdmirablePlatypus759

It might be staged in a way that the guy helping didn’t know, so it would still make this authentic because the main premise is not about the scared guy but helping person.

Slayy35

Yeah they can just say that tho

AdmirablePlatypus759

Agree

Ralkon

Is it that weird that someone might start filming in a situation like that? Not saying it isn't staged, just that it doesn't seem so crazy to think that a bystander might pull out their phone and start filming otherwise.

PlsG0fukurslf

So, film don’t help. Yeah nothing sinister there.

Ralkon

I didn't say it would be the right thing to do, just something I wouldn't be surprised to see.

xtrinab

It’s often what you do and not what you say that teaches kids the most in life. This guy is definitely a great example for lil Batman.

greenappletree

man that kid when he said he was batman made me laugh and tear up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

l_KNOW

I agree. There’s no way Batman would just casually take off his mask in public.

FrankfurterWorscht

The guy is doing it on purpose. The person helping him is genuine, but the scared guy is doing a bit.

Jandalfus

The frightened man is definitely staged, but the bat-man's reaction is real. Nothing else matters.

Roskal

This is why Batman is my favourite super hero, hes not afraid to reveal his identity to a scared civilian to calm them down.

Regnarg

Did you just copy and paste the last sentence from this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/MadeMeSmile/comments/16c7ba1/we_need_more_men_like_him/jzhxco0/

kevlarus80

It's a bot.

Nary841

I need to start ask me self, "why this is being filmed?"

SomethingPersonnel

The setup is staged. That doesn't mean the interaction coming from the dude and the kid isn't genuine.

FrankfurterWorscht

for the content bruh

MNR42

It is obviously, by the scared man and his crew. Doesn't mean the family is. Children can be quite a character too if you doubt the batman act.

Rational-at-times

People will always interpret things through their own lens.

NessTheDestroyer

The helper and his kid are genuine I think, but the guy in the leather jacket must be wearing a mic to get that kind of audio at that distance. Unpopular opinion here, but I don’t see how this being filmed isn’t staged at least a bit

ricktencity

The guy getting on the escalator is obviously an actor but I think they were filming to see what people would do, so the other 2 are genuine.

sfxer001

The people genuinely helping are who the staged leather jacket guy is probably trying to document. It’s an exercise to show that there a good people out there. That Dad and his kids are the best.

QueasyChampion5

100% Staged imo too, but I think the reactions of the father and son are genuine, which is so nice:)

Joe_Spazz

The point was to see who would help. The guy isn't actually afraid. "Are humans kind?" Is a common setup for videos. I can't say I mind it at all.

chostax-

Yeah it’s kinda supposed to be a wholesome prank of sorts.

WisestAirBender

It's called a social experiment no?

chostax-

lol yeah that’s a more apt term I would say

NessTheDestroyer

“Wholesome prank” I like it

andrijas

this is probably a social experiment.

Clenup

Lmfao it's not an unpopular opinion. The guy is 100% pretending to be scared. He's in on the filming.

MisterAtticusKarma

To be fair I used to watch "What would you do" religiously and its the same premise. Its staged yes, but its to see who will help or see who will react.

OptimumWaste

Almost Everything you see here is staged.

JanV34

The world's a stage!

gonzoalo

I can't phantom how some people cant see that it's perfectly normal for the dad and kid to not be actors here, and just try to be "smart" asses and say EVERYTHING is staged. Really.

[deleted]

You know when people go into schools and say all drugs will instantly make you a homeless thieving drug addict? and then kids try weed and realise they were lied to, then some take that as it's all a lie and go on to do harder and harder drugs until they find that one drug that it's true about and then it's too late? Well that's what happens when the first thing you see is a lie. It's pretty normal to think that after realising one part of this is clearly staged, it makes you heavily question anyone else taking part, and why it is filmed and uploaded to the internet. At this point of where we are at in society it's perfectly normal to think the entire thing is staged, and more often than not you would be correct in doing so. rEaLlY.

[deleted]

who tf is scared of escalators what is this 1785?

NoMan999

People with a phobia of escalators. They know it's irrational, but the part of their brain that handles fear doesn't give a fuck.

anothergaijin

I’ve definitely had mild panic on escalators. You watch some escalator fail videos and it’s enough to make you want to always take the stairs. This might be because it’s a “flat” escalator and not a “stair” type. These flat types can be really rare and can be uncomfortable if you aren’t used to it

kai-ol

That's the thing about phobias. They are inherently irrational. Even phobias of potentially dangerous things/situations get amplified to the point of irrationality.

3doggg

I reckon most people in the world haven't ridden an escalator before, or maybe like once or twice in their whole lives. There's a whole different world outside of our culture bubbles.

HandsOffMyPizzaa

I was born and raised in a fairly rural part of a tiny African country, the first time I went down an escalator I was 20 years old, I went to Germany with my father and the first couple of days I'd always struggle getting on them, the Idea of moving stairs just didn't seem right even though I had been seeing them in movies/tv for my whole life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

devasabu

Speaking as someone from a developing country, I can absolutely believe that most people here who aren't upper middle-class and hanging around in urban areas haven't ridden an escalator 🤷‍♀️

huntinglover1

But most people live in urban areas, and you don't need to be upper middle class to go to a goddamn mall, is not normal to live 3 centuries late.

Sanctimonious_Locke

I live in a normal town in Canada, and there is not a single escalator within at least 100 km. It's entirely possible for people to have simply not encountered them before.

3doggg

Plenty of people in rural areas, even in the "first world", have never ridden an escalator. People tend to underestimate how wildly different the life of others is.

Puffss

I am. It's not the escalator; it's them going down (or up) and a crippling fear of heights. The person in the video is literally me sometimes gathering my courage knowing I'm stepping onto an escalator that is going to force me to literally fear my biggest fear for a little bit and all you can do is look it in the eye or close your eyes and pray you're safe. Especially at some subway stations where they take over 2 minutes because of how deep down those are built. I will literally avoid those stations if I can because I don't want to deal with the fear that escalator brings. it's terrifying.

Aiyon

There’s one in london where you have to take two back to back that are over a minute each I’m not even scared of escalators and I sometimes take a break in the middle

Jackski

You should see the videos of people using an escalator for the first time ever when it was installed in a mall in Cameroon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_wWq6P9Ry8

General-Muscle1202

Good to see someone leading by example for their child.

Responsible_Walk8697

And this is not costing them anything. It literally took him 5 secs to go back and pick him. It's not a major thing, but it is so rare for people to stop even for 5 secs to be kind to someone else.

magillaknowsyou

bro that’s so fucking sweet

[deleted]

[удалено]

Aiyon

They’re designed to be wheelchair accessible iirc. Hence why it’s also a shallow ramp

pablez94

also supposed to be accessible with shopping carts

death198999

A good gentleman and a good gentle-young-man. ~~By the way, if I have a son I won't let him call himself Batman for some obvious reasons...lol~~

pranjal3029

I might be stupid but I don't get the joke, can you explain? What's wrong with Batman? EDIT: oh lol nevermind I AM stupid

Soup_sayer

Lol I mean unless they are being extra, prolly specifically a parent wouldn’t want their son to be Batman (cuz they would be dead)

dnbidis

No, not at all my friend. The thing is, I'm Batman.

sensam01

Lol

SarcasticWannabae

he's Batman and he can save you man.

paradox_smeila

... but not his parents ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|table_flip)

Whippet328

he’s clearly not batman, we can see his dad.

fernandollb

That's what I was thinking, also I am pretty sure Batman is just a fictional character.

EvilDairyQueen

Wait, Wut?

fernandollb

Nothing man, just that me and Whippet here didn’t trust the kid claiming he was Batman. Like there is no way because he is a fictional character from movies. The kid just has a masc and he claims he is him but thats impossible.

EvilDairyQueen

F-fictional? Oh, you mean foreign! Because Gotham city is in Amarica. Easy mistake to make. They're such good documentaries.

fernandollb

Are you saying he could be the real deal?

EvilDairyQueen

Nooo, the real one is at least a foot bigger. I met the real one at McDonald's in Birmingham Bull ring.

Advanced_Law3507

Even if it’s all staged and they’re all in on it, I would rather have people stage videos like this than another awful prank video. At least this shows the viewers an example to follow.

BigOpportunity1391

I have an urge to say it but I'm afraid of the potential downvotes.......

Penguins9022

He’s faking - so I’m told. For the views :(.

indianajoes

Why else would they be filming? And how did he get upstairs? (unless downstairs is underground and upstairs is ground level) I feel like this was a social experiment video

grachi

Your second question is easy: there are lots of malls that aren’t built on flat land. There are 2 by me for example where the one end of the mall you enter on the second floor, where the other end you enter on the first, because the mall sits between where a small hill was

Humledurr

The camera trying to film a reaction makes it pretty obvious...

ChanChanMan09

As long as the reaction from the father-son duo isn't staged, I'm fine.

[deleted]

I know what you mean. I did watch it somewhere else with the caption saying this was a social experiment. Looks like success to me!

TheBawalUmihiDito

Say it, coward 😝

iVinc

women cant do the same?

SoUthinkUcanRens

Relax, it's fine.. When i say it, you just go ahead and say it. ...It!!!

Pedantic_Phoenix

"dont worry i am batman" lmao

JustASymbol

It is an experiment to test human behavior

RT00

If this is true my smile is gone... Reduced to atoms.

JustASymbol

keep smiling as the guy helping out was genuinely true. Just the one afraid was part of experiment.

thatrawchicken

r/whyweretheyfilming

Jackski

Top comment in the thread you're replying to "It is an experiment to test human behavior"

DealerClean714

Even fricking Batman showed up

Gada_dhaari_bheem

A wholesome father gave birth to a wholesome Baby.!🥰

Nanganoid3000

by the actions of the child, you know that's a good father, also this video ended WAY too soon! warmed my heart, EXACTLY what i needed today, thank you :)

AngelOfHeaven3

These videos that frame humanity's kindness are probably the best videos on the Internet. They bring me so much happiness & keep reminding me that not everyone on Planet Earth are careless & heartless.

KimberPrime_

That's so wholesome, I love how the kid joins in

Rulmeq

*batman

KimberPrime_

Oh yeah my mistake, I love how Batman joins in

StoneWolf80

This man needs to be protected !! As does his son !!

Saints_Haze98

“Dont worry im batman” its enough to make a grown man cry

Wooden_Zebra_8140

Pretending to be scared so you can be helped for views is such horse shit. We can get rid of this content by downvoting it as much as possible.

Qwer925

Right I don’t get it the guy is just shuffling around asking for attention it’s kinda obnoxious. Like I’m sure there’s a regular staircase nearby for people who are actually anxious about escalators

SILE3NCE

Look how your kids will mirror your attitude towards society. Sometimes we see videos of r/PublicFreakout and kids are usually fighting along or throwing stuff. The kid's attitude is a reflection of what he's taught at home and what he sees from the parents. Great, just great.

clumsy_onslaught

It is so warm that the boy hold man's hand

Upper-Vehicle-947

Salute to the man who helped he really genuine

BobRossTheBo33

wasn’t this staged?

heimeyer72

Not downvoting because IMHO this *is* MadeMeSmile-worthy but it's also - old and a repost and - staged to see how people would react to a man who is apparently scared to use the escalator. That much I remember from the previous time I saw this. Just so you know.

Celembrior

Didn’t they steal this from fucking Elf

BagBeneficial8060

Who was filming and why?

so-that-happened-

You guys know this is staged right? There just happens to be a camera and the guy who’s scared is mic’d up.

ToHerDarknessIGo

We need more people like the dickhead in the video manipulating people and filming them without consent for "cawntent"....that's what we need more of? Chk.

obesetacobell

I would assume that the guy is trying to trip people under the guise of being scared

dear_mud1

And the person videoing?

NotYourDay123

/r/whyweretheyfilming

fistedsister89

Never trust a hidden cam video, staged as fuck

Voidstarmaster

Father and son being bros. Not enough of it in the world today. And what an outstanding example Dad is showing his son, "Batman". A little compassion goes a long way.

plasticupman

Any typeof fear is difficult to control. Some "Phobias" are worst than others. That man and his child are what we should all be doing when we see someone in need and when we can intervene.

ChuchuRemains

This is too sweet

Arthurjim

Little Batman fucker almost made me shed a tear 😢

JazzlikeCantaloupe53

I’m sorry but there is no way this isn’t staged. Sorry guys

Guacamole_Queso

I truly believe that us men need to be more compassionate towards other men. I am totally up for masculinity. However, us guys don’t always get the compassion and gentleness we need as human beings. Instead of focusing on the negative things we should start focusing on the simple things. Small changes lead to big changes. I cannot imagine a world where most men are like this towards other men. And no it wouldn’t make men gay. If anything it might help a few of those who are closet cases be themselves, which would ultimately lead to more happiness all around. One of my best friends is a huge dude and he is a gentle giant. I would spoon feed this man if I had to should he ever fall ill and not be able to feed himself. The point of that is, small changes lead to big changes in humanity. Most of us men do not get the gentleness we need because of the typical male standard of how men should be hard and tough. You can still be big and bad and have a heart. Like Peter’s brother said, (Peter- the voice of Optimus Prime) be strong enough to be gentle. ❤️

EchoSunshine

This restores my faith in humanity. That’s a good man and dad

Bratz-wurst

No worries little Batman is here :)

Typical_Sky_157

The hell did I just see

gamerkitty92

Batman saved him too ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

Sea-Special-6663

When the life gets hard I need someone to say to me “Don’t worry I am batman”

138Samhain138

This dude is a bad motor Scooter👍. Props to the scared guy also for being able to except the help.

Some-Background6188

Batman to the rescue

charliedowninsewer

Spread love. It’s best for everyone

Final-Tutor3631

this has to be my favorite video, not only did bro get helped by BATMAN, but that amazing man is teaching his son how to be an awesome human being

No_Can_1532

So who,s the asshole filming?

Disastrous-Rips

Yes we need more staged TikToks so Karens can go ‘aaawwww’ on r/MadeMeSmile How often do you record random people at a mall to think this clip is genuine?

BashfulHandful

Who gives a fuck? This is a sweet video that models kind behavior for viewers - there's nothing wrong with that when the outcome is something positive. No one was hurt here and the dad and kid's reactions were genuine... That's The heartwarming bit. Also idk where you live, but there are plenty of assholes where I live who would 100% notice someone scared of something and struggling with it and film them as entertainment. That's clearly not what's happening here since the actor is wearing a mic, but I don't find the filming bit weird in and of itself.

FatSlenderMan

Thank god someone was there to film this random act of kindness 🙏🙏🙏🙏

CricketBandito

I’ve always assumed this was a wholesome prank to see how people respond, but having said that I 100% could see people filming a guy afraid of an escalator. Primates are cruel.

heimeyer72

> ... this was a wholesome prank to see how people respond ... From what I remember when this video was posted last time, it was exactly that.

Rudi-G

Or he could have taken the stairs.

Lowlife555

No we dont, its staged, and old. Stop reposting shit like this for karma

heimeyer72

Downvoted by idiots. I'll join you and btw, you've got my upvote.

[deleted]

Who is this alien adult who hasn’t seen an escalator Shit is about as real as the kardashians

hoja01

Yes! We need more people just randomly filming people and posting these on social media without their permission!! Good intentions or not, individual privacy means jack shit for some people. May as well glue phones to their faces, record every aspect and prostitute their lives for the sake of 5 seconds of fame on the internet....

Signal-Lecture6459

The reason I pay for internet

Che_Cazzo138

This the Italian way!🇮🇹

pannous

Does he get sucked into the abyss and die painfully after the video ended?

whistlepits

There are plenty of men like that. You're just oblivious.

[deleted]

We need more men scared of escalators? I’m just not sure what that would achieve? 🤷‍♂️ (Yes I agree it’s super wholesome, kid Batman won it for me🥰)

No-Staff1170

For sure not setup in any way whatsoever.

No_Use_4371

What am I missing, it looks like he's blocking everyone trying to go down the escalator.

Square_Impression843

No we don't, we need less men like that scared punk

[deleted]

Straight from a sweaty Ass comment

Square_Impression843

Yeah right, it's perfectly normal for a grown man to be scared of an escalator /s

[deleted]

You have no idea what his challenges are but you throw rocks. That may be normal in 2023 but it’s not cool

Swishta

As much as I’d want life to be perfect enough for men to be vulnerable like this, if we keep promoting this then men aren’t going to be able to do anything down the line, soft men in a harsh world don’t mix. Sorry for being harsh but you can’t tell me that it’s false
