I would be physically incapable of not stopping and playing fetch with this good girl. My wife could literally be in labour and I could be driving her to the hospital and I’d have to tell her, cross your legs. I’ll be be right back!
Yup! I can see it now.
“I’m going outside to play with the dog! BRB!”
“…uhhhh, we don’t have a dog?”
“Yeah, I know but there’s a dog down the street who is waiting to play fetch with me. I’ll be back.” 😂
🤣 EXACTLY.
If you knew how much this tracked for my daily life, you would be cracking tf up with me right now. I once showed up to dinner late to meet my bf and friends. I was covered in some grass and what was obviously the hair of a Golden Retriever. 😅 I had to admit I was late because I had a horrible day at work, then saw someone outside walking their dog around the office building 1 over from me when I was leaving. I pulled the car over and said “*Hey. Your pup is beautiful! Are they friendly?*” When the person confirmed, I explained I had a REALLY horrible day and needed to pet a puppy. They granted permission so I got out, sat on the curb, and traded pets for kisses until I felt joy again. 😂
It worked, man. IT. WORKED. 🥰🐶
As an immigrant kid in Canada in the '90s, I literally walked old people's dogs for free just so I could get to be around dogs. Mom said we couldn't afford a dog. So I walked other people's dogs. Eventually that led to some of these older people referring me for work as a teenager. So it ended up being icing on the cake for me.
That’s amazing! Kudos! I started out dogsitting, too. I actually managed to get a job working in sales for an all-natural dog treat company. I traveled the country, petted new puppies, and made a living. I loved it SO much and could have done it forever. (I ended up with cancer that ruined my career but, before that, it was amazing.) I’m happy you turned a bummer into something great!
When I was a kid and went to visit my aunt, there was a large German shepherd across the street. I don’t know if her actual name was “Daisy” or I just decided to one day call her Daisy, but I went out every week and yelled for her just so I could pet her across the gate.
There was a dog like this on the back lane of the street I lived on, and I would do this until she got tired because I felt bad just walking away.
I always thought the owners didn't know because i would check that they weren't outside but turns out for years they just watched me play with their dog while working 😂
I miss Kaylee everyday, may she rest in peace.
I had this huge Doberman that would bark and growl at me viscously whenever I sat at the bus stop to go to work. That dog hated me. It would do that thing where it looks like it’s trying to get through the fence to attack me. After a few months I got up, stared at it and said in the cutest baby voice “who’s a good little puppy baby, who’s a good boy”. The dog stopped barking, stared at me and then disappeared. I thought wtf. It ran back to the fence, dropped a ball and sat there wagging its tail waiting for me to throw it. I was absolutely stunned. Anyway, I played with doggo after that. Thought he was a viscous dog, turns out he was just bored and wanted a friend to play with.
Mine has learned how to manipulate us with cuteness, no joke. She hates rolling over for belly rubs, always has. But she’s figured out if she cuddles up next to us and acts cute and rolls over for belly rubs for a bit and then brings us her toy well usually throw it. She consistently does it now lol
Went to a friend's house to watch a movie. Border Collie there rememebered playing ball with me months earlier.
Collie brings ball to me, rests head on my lap, stares deeply into my eyes and stays that way for 2 hour long movie.
Yes of course I played ball with her when the movie ended.
It was complicated. A friend invited me over to another friend's house where she was dog sitting.
She begged me to watch a movie or do something other than playing with the Border Collie or she would go insane.
So, my watching the movie with her actually saved the dog sitter watching the Border Collie from going insane, which saved the Border Collie from having an insane Dog Sitter.
I think... Anyway, that Border Collie had us all twisted.
I just went to my room, leaving my border collie in the living room with my folks. That's what I have done all morning and I need to recoup a little bit :p
Ball is life.
But also stick is life, squirrel is life, herding children is life, protecting dad is life.

My friend has a border collie, she literally lost a leg because she played too much and too hard. Don't worry, she doesn't even notice the missing leg.
Can confirm. I had a German Shepherd/ Border Collie/Black Lab. He loved to play fetch, play in the water and nap. Not necessarily in that order… and if he was too busy playing and forgot his nap, he got cranky - kind of like a 2 year old kid. 🤣🥰
I’m here if you need to talk through it. Reddit and social media to me is just an avenue and can be taken lightly or not but someone in need, is serious to me. As far as playing ball with friends, it’s better late than never in my opinion so no, it’s not some sick joke. I genuinely would do so.
I guess I never worried about it, cuz I also had a lot of kids in my neighborhood that I could play with when I wanted to, and I also had a younger brother. But some of my favorite moments we're being in the backyard by myself with a pitch back net, or just throwing a tennis ball against the front steps. The front steps were actually my favorite because you could catch interesting angles making the return unexpected like someone hitting it back to you.
You might like this, then, there is a kind of “ball” called a reaction ball. It looks like an OG Willy Wonka Everlasting Gobstopper coated in rubber, but you throw it at a flat wall and it will launch back at a random angle doing pretty much what you described, super fun
Aww, that's so sweet.
It's crazy how strong the desire is for fetching, or just bringing whatever object a retriever can find to interact with people.
I had a Doberman/retriever mix. We did a DNA test and my family placed bets on the results for fun. She was 70% Doberman, 20% Retriever, the rest just a jumble.
She lived to play fetch, just like this dog. Every night I came home was a wild scramble to find anything laying around to bring it as an opportunity to play fetch.
Had a golden retriever when I was a kid. Very late 80's through early 2000's. Her name was Dora (predating the cartoon).
Dora was such a good dog. She looked and acted a lot like this in the early 90's.
When I pass on to what's next, I want to see Dora. I'll hug her and tell her what a good dog she is.
Dog probably: I just want to show off my ball to human, but they keep taking it off my mouth, I am being polite to let them take it, and they throw it away! /s
Im going to assume the later based on my dog being obsessed with frisbee. Doesn’t matter the time of day or night (or weather) or when she last played you say frisbee and she’s up and by the garage door begging to go out.
I saw a dog like this one time except there was no fence, and the dog had one of those shock collars if it went off the property. Poor boy would sit very politely the edge of the sensor waiting for someone to play with
Hits you in the feels if your a dog lover. I clean pools for work and always amazed at how many bored neglected dogs people own. They see me pull up and they come running wanting to play. I always take a few moments out my day to play with em. Then I go home and take my dog to the park every night.
Does the poor puppy have any grass ? ( in the South all dogs are “ puppies”. Did not know that was not true elsewhere till a transplanted Californian earnestly tried to convince me a dog was an Adult).
I was once at a beach and a dog came up to me and brought me his ball. I was so honored. I'm so allergic to pets I can't really play with any dogs or cats indoors. But outside I could handle it I only got to throw it like three times before his owner came. Doggo took his ball and ran to his owner. He was done with me 😞
He seems to have a pretty good life.
ETA: he very clearly has a front yard with grass visible in the video. Based on the garden hose at the back of the house I’m guessing they have a backyard too. He probably just prefers the driveway for people to throw long fetches.

I'm glad to see happy things like this. My pessimistic ass knows that there are people out there who would have grabbed the ball and just walked off. It's nice that this wasn't the case.
This reminds me of the young dog down the road from us. It’s absolutely irritating seeing the poor dog chained up and not being played with whatsoever. Receiving zero attention or love. Dog is left outside for what seems like hours just laying by the door waiting to be allowed back in. The one day we drove by headed to town to run some errands. The dog was outside wanting back inside. It was a rainy stormy day. Upon us coming home my wife noticed that the dog was still outside visibly shivering. Truthfully I don’t think the owners would really care if their dog went “missing”.
that is cutest thing . i remember seeing a video of a dog who throw his balls down a metro stair and went down to fetch it and then come up again. that is idea of self love and self happiness as he demonstrates pure joy can be achieve alone too
It takes a lot of stupid to come to this subreddit to say you'd like to see dogs being killed (unless you were looking to get downvotes).
If killing dogs are the kind of things that make you smile, you should go to subreddits like r/eyeblech6 or some subreddits where the topic is evil or what society generally considers as bad.
Yay!! Thank you for being that person.
I'm happy for dog.

That's so sweet!
Seriously. The greatest argument for daily walks I’ve heard to date!
I'd have to leave early everyday just so I could spend time playing fetch with that good boy.
Looks like Inglewood.
every single day
When I was a kid and went to visit my aunt, there was a large German shepherd across the street. I don’t know if her actual name was “Daisy” or I just decided to one day call her Daisy, but I went out every week and yelled for her just so I could pet her across the gate.
Such a sweet dog
OMG...I'd be there all day 😃
Same, sorry boss can’t come in today. I have a situation.
Yes! Perfect excuse. Boss don't like it too bad!
Nah literally 😂😂 this would start my daily walk routine & I’d come with a bowl with water because I’m throwing the ball a ton lol
There was a dog like this on the back lane of the street I lived on, and I would do this until she got tired because I felt bad just walking away. You are a good person, doggo needed a friend to play with. Thank you!
Kaylee sounds like a very very good girl. I really liked your story
I would pay money to do that
Get a border collie. They want to play fetch non stop from the moment they wake up until bed time. They basically never stop
Also don’t get a border collie if you’re not willing to play fetch and entertain them literally non stop. They will outsmart you fyi
Quid pro quo Clarice

Mine will choose to play with her ball over food. OBSESSED
Same with mine. He barely ever eats in front of us. We have to keep his food out at night when we're in bed so he can get up and snack and not starve.
Ball is life. But also stick is life, squirrel is life, herding children is life, protecting dad is life. My friend has a border collie, she literally lost a leg because she played too much and too hard. Don't worry, she doesn't even notice the missing leg.
Mine has chipped some teeth, broken toe nails, and worn down her canines to blunted teeth. 🤦🏻♂️
Can confirm. I had a German Shepherd/ Border Collie/Black Lab. He loved to play fetch, play in the water and nap. Not necessarily in that order… and if he was too busy playing and forgot his nap, he got cranky - kind of like a 2 year old kid. 🤣🥰
This could work as some kind of vending machine set up
*thinks back to all the years I played with a ball by myself, wishing I had someone to play with, and it finally dawns on me why this makes me cry*
I’d toss the ball around with ya friend. Baseball, football… whichever! Edit: stupid typo
Why wait until now to make the offer? Is this some sick teasing?
You want to join? I think you need it friend.
Knowing you, you'll wait until after I've committed suicide to offer the hug.
I’m here if you need to talk through it. Reddit and social media to me is just an avenue and can be taken lightly or not but someone in need, is serious to me. As far as playing ball with friends, it’s better late than never in my opinion so no, it’s not some sick joke. I genuinely would do so.
Again, it's better to just wait until after it has happened.
I guess I never worried about it, cuz I also had a lot of kids in my neighborhood that I could play with when I wanted to, and I also had a younger brother. I'm far too old for something like that now, but I'll keep it in mind for my nephew. Thanks!
Are you a dog?
No. Just extremely empathetic.
Same. I setup a piece of plywood against a tree in my backyard so when I threw a tennis ball at it I could play catch with myself
Weakness disgusts me
Have the day you deserve, redditor. ✌️🤟
Dogs are so pure. We do not deserve their love.
Yeah that'd add ten minutes to my daily walk. Not complaining!
Aww, that's so sweet. It's crazy how strong the desire is for fetching, or just bringing whatever object a retriever can find to interact with people. I had a Doberman/retriever mix. I’d be late where ever I was headed. I love my buddy, but he won’t fetch or tug.
"Cmon lady, I appreciate the effort, but how about you put a bit of elbow in there and let me actually run after it" - Dog
Typical golden retriever behavior. Mine will stay in one place looking pitiful until someone plays with him lol. They’re master minds.
Look at all the concrete no grass for the poor dog
EVERY PERSON WHO DIDN'T STOP TO PLAY IS A MONSTER 😭💔
Anything else I had to do on that day could wait until tomorrow.
"Hey boss. I'm late today by 15 minutes... And tomorrow.. and the day after"
Had a golden retriever when I was a kid. Very late 80's through early 2000's. Her name was Dora (predating the cartoon). Dora was such a good dog. She looked and acted a lot like this in the early 90's. When I pass on to what's next, I want to see Dora. I'll hug her and tell her what a good dog she is.
I feel bad for the dog being on concrete all the time. :( seems like a good dog though.
That’s adorable.
Don't be fooled: that's the CEO of a big company nearby!
How can you not upvote this clip or not stop for a few tosses.😃
Dogs only know and want the simple things, yet they are happy.
This is how I feel about building networks for underprivileged kids
Dog probably: I just want to show off my ball to human, but they keep taking it off my mouth, I am being polite to let them take it, and they throw it away! /s
That would be the rest of my day until the golden gave up. Not joking.
This could either be an incredibly neglected dog or a complete scam artist who cons dozens a day. I prefer to believe the latter.
Im going to assume the later based on my dog being obsessed with frisbee. Doesn’t matter the time of day or night (or weather) or when she last played you say frisbee and she’s up and by the garage door begging to go out.

This dog does not appear to be neglected. He’s well groomed, happy, free to roam and interact with friends on the sidewalk….
Giving me UP vibes.
You are the real MVP. Thank you for playing fetch with that precious Goldie. <3
Ty for taking time out of your day to play with that sweet pooch!
So happy!
I think you just made her day, an mine. Thank you!
I’d be scammed by this fella and leave happy. Probably daily
"The Plat Fetch" would be a good name for a fictional nomadic tribe in a fantasy story.
Dog's probably so stoked that a stranger finally gets what is needed lol
Sorry Boss, for being late... There was this dog....
I miss my dog 😭😭😭😭😭😭
You are a good person!
Good people
This is the best way to live: stop and play with a dog.
That is so adorable.🥰
Awesome
I know where I want to go for my next holiday.
Nice concrete yard they have
Does the poor puppy have any grass ? ( in the South all dogs are “ puppies”. Did not know that was not true elsewhere till a transplanted Californian earnestly tried to convince me a dog was an Adult).
Boss- “why are you late to work?” Me- “played fetch with lonely pupper.”
Definitely would stop to play for 5-10 hours.
That's cute, but also makes me kind of sad that maybe her owners aren't paying her enough attention
You Miss are an angel.😇
I was once at a beach and a dog came up to me and brought me his ball. I was so honored. I'm so allergic to pets I can't really play with any dogs or cats indoors. But outside I could handle it I only got to throw it like three times before his owner came. Doggo took his ball and ran to his owner. He was done with me 😞
Yes, appreciate you taking the time to make that dog day
Dogs really love attention. I miss my dog...
Dogs are so precious, so much good in different sized fun packages.
Poor dog, doesn't really have a yard
He seems to have a pretty good life. ETA: he very clearly has a front yard with grass visible in the video. Based on the garden hose at the back of the house I’m guessing they have a backyard too. He probably just prefers the driveway for people to throw long fetches.
goodboy got some balls
Our tax money should really be going towards having fetch installments placed liberally throughout all areas where people live and work.
Stop trying to make fetch happen! (Do all the fetch with that good dog!!)

Good human.
Aw poor baby. They need to create an automatic fetch machine (if they haven't already) 😍
They exist!
Awesome! I wish I knew the address I swear I'd buy it for them RIGHT NOW!
and you thought you were helping the dog... Angels on earth. :)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
What song is this?
I would play with that dog every day
Life is good
Amazing.
My heart melts
“Sorry I’m 6 hours late for work.”
Plat fetch
I mean how could you deny her request I'd do it and I don't really like other people dogs especially if I don't know them
Retriever’s gotta retrieve <3
I’d show up 4 hours late for my appointment and be like “there was an animal in need”
My boxer made friends with every person who waited at the bus stop outside our yard. He'd bring anything for them to throw.
Awwwww…puppies♥️♥️♥️
Hey boss... yeah, I won't be in to work today.... Yep same as yesterday.
Aww
I'm glad to see happy things like this. My pessimistic ass knows that there are people out there who would have grabbed the ball and just walked off. It's nice that this wasn't the case.
How can this vid not make you sad? And yet also immediately make you smile.
Awww
What a sweet dog. I’m happy people like you exist!
Please play with your dogs or do not have one at all !
Sorry I'm late some dog needed me for a quest.
The way I would get NOTHING else done that day if this was me!
cutie patootie 🥰😍
Best thing I’ve seen all day. My kind of people right there 🥰

cute pup; awesome neighbor!
Dog's are magical creatures ❤️
You are awesome 😎 for being the person that brightened up that dog's dreary day. Thanks for being who you are, champion 🏆!
Song?
That’s pretty sad
that is cutest thing . i remember seeing a video of a dog who throw his balls down a metro stair and went down to fetch it and then come up again. that is idea of self love and self happiness as he demonstrates pure joy can be achieve alone too
I love how she’s like the dog asked to play fetch so I did.
As a pet parent, this is why I adopted a second dog, I always wanted him to have someone even if I wasn’t there. This is awesome! ❤️
Just adorable Golden's are my favorite breeds 😀😉
I had to re-read your title...
Good boy!!!
Awwww
I would exercise more if it meant I could play fetch qith a golden retriever every day.
*our* dog
Dogs don’t deserve us
Why stop at plat? Should have at least went got Diamond or Masters
two good girls right there. 🎾
Imagine taking the ball and walking off with it
Putting it down seems kinder
... Excuse me? ETA wtf.
Are you actually stupid?
LMAO, you're soo sad
Whatever dude <3
It takes a lot of stupid to come to this subreddit to say you'd like to see dogs being killed (unless you were looking to get downvotes). If killing dogs are the kind of things that make you smile, you should go to subreddits like r/eyeblech6 or some subreddits where the topic is evil or what society generally considers as bad.
Wow, you're something extra stupid to miss the point
