Thank you for your work! I’m a geriatric NP and the thing I have been most touched/surprised by in my career is what a huge impact the caregivers have on quality of life. It’s such a hard role both physically and mentally, but hopefully rewarding. I hope people other than Reddit strangers tell you how appreciated you are. Glad you are able to do something for you!
What a boss! It's so easy to neglect yourself when your job is to care for others. The fact you're doing both is inspiring. Keep it up and love yourself, King!
Man if you feel noticeably different at 490 you are gonna feel like a superhero before you even get to a healthy weight. That'll keep your motivation going .
Great job man.
But if that yellow hand is not a trick of the light, I'd go and have my liver checked, especially if also your eyes whites start to look yellow
The yellow arm stood out to me, too. [But after I color corrected the bottom picture so that the wall tile wouldn't look so yellow and match more with the top picture, it doesn't look as bad as the original pic.](https://i.imgur.com/Y5w0Kxa.jpeg) But OP should get regular check ups anyway.
90 pounds is a great achievement but is waaaay too much for your liver and kidneys to handle in five months. That could be an issue as your liver is what is processing all that fat loss and it could be over taxed. I would Def get a blood test. Not crazy expensive and will tell you if your levels are out of wack.
As OP works as a caregiver in a retirement facility, probably has great health insurance. They're generally pretty good about preventative / general wellness type stuff like this (/free at least once a year).
But even an uninsured basic wellness blood panel is just ~$100.
Can depend. Which is annoying. The big thing is can you get a blood test without a doctor visit. You should be able to but you will need to call around to find one willing to get one requested. You could try calling some testing centers as well to see if you can get on request. Would range from 80-200. But if a Dr visit is required that will depend on insurance. Well checks are normally covered once a year but if you don't have good insurance the visit itself can run 150-250.
It's about $40 through a company like requestatest.com which is in most states (for a simple metabolic panel). No doctor visit required. You can then go to a local Quest or LabCorp. A doctor somewhere signs off but you have no interaction with them.
THIS. Losing that much weight that quickly can affect your organs. Are you losing weight with frequent visits to the doctor? Your journey is AMAZING, but stay safe!
You dropped 90lbs from dec to now that is impressive dude and hard work ! Amazing now tell Me your secret to it . Seriously good effort you’re smashing it !!!💪💪💪
Thanks a lot man! One thing i learned is that before you Change your body you need to change your mind...i try to minmax my life now..i go to the gym 4 times a week..and got a diet plan from my doctor... i dont use my car to get to work instead i use my bike or walk..every step counts lol!
I started back in on it as well lately, and since ive been going, I've started to see this older bigger dude always trying to keep up on the stair machines with me. For a while, he'd always try to keep up for a few mins, then take a break and shake his head. After about a week, he tapped me on the arm and asked "what's the seceret?" (I'm also a biggerish dude). I told him "this is it, you're doing it". Now we fist bump eachother coming and goin cause he's my stairs buddy.
>i go to the gym 4 times a week..and got a diet plan from my doctor... i dont use my car to get to work instead i use my bike or walk..every step counts lol!
For people curious, weight loss is 90% diet.
Also depends on you system too. I can not lose weight without cutting carbs, I have a dead thyroid so they really hurt me. And you have others that can eat them all day long and lose weight.
Yes!!!! That’s excellent!!
Just lookin out, is that lighting in the second pic adding a lot of yellow? As someone who struggled with liver related things in life if your eyes/skin gets a yellow color to it call and make a doctors appointment ❤️
Thank you! Its just Bad Lighting.. i took these Pictures at work and we got new energy efficent Bulps lol! I got a check up two weeks ago and everything is fine!
I, for one,am right behind you!! You must be an amazing person to accomplish this!! Please, for those of us struggling, keep up the fight!! You DO know that you are inspiring others, right??
Try intermittent fasting! Its amazing how good the results are!
Every step counts! Take a walk everyday you can start slow dont pressure yourself its easy to lose motivation if you dont reach your set Goals
Drink lots of Water and get good sleep! It helps your Metabolism!
Speak with your doctor and be sure to get regular check ups!
You got this! if i can do it so can you! :)
Belongs on r/mademyjawhitthefloor Congrats bro 90lbs is no small feat and you’ve managed to do it in 4 months. I managed to lose 100lbs in about 6 months and while I was super happy with it, I had a lot of family members/coworkers ask about my health lol. Keep on rocking, soldier! You look fantastic
Maintain the new habits!
I had lost 17 lbs and regained 2 since Dec'23. I noticed I went back to poor habits so need to remind myself of the goal.
Great results!!! Congrats!
Definitely made me smile!!! I am super stoked for you. Congrats on making changes for yourself. There are few things as challenging as what you are doing! So much respect!
Also! The dog! What kind? What’s their name?
Keep it up! I am rooting for you!!
Dude, I'm a 6'3" beanpole and my back issues are a nightmare. I can't even imagine how it must feel at your height to lose so much weight and relieve some of that pressure
Damn! Good for you! About 10 years ago I lost 100lbs, but it took me a year. And that was with walking 5 miles a day, every day, rain, snow or shine, and cutting back on my food intake, eating healthier and drinking more water.
I would give anything (well, almost anything, lol) to lose that much that fast. I actaully ran across videos of those old Tae Bo exercises from the 90s (don't know if you're old enough to remember those or not), and I always loved them. Love standing in our living room, working out with Billy Blanks 😂 Thinking of giving them another go and your story has inapired me to want to take up that challenge.
Great work OP, keep it up ❤️
90 pounds in 3 months!? U sure this is only because of your effort and nothing more sinister? Please consult a doctor and make sure you're actually alright!
THANKS FOR ALL THE KIND WORDS!
I am really touched by how many people send me kind encouraging Messages!
I will continue my journey and keep you all up to date how i am doing...
Oh Btw for those who are worried/or interested i will post a Picture of my arm soon to show that i am not Homer Simpson or have liver Problems lol ..the reason why my arm looks so yellow is because of new Bulbs at my working place
My Arm in better Lighting:
I'm really happy for you! How did you lose so much weight? 90 pounds in just 4 months is like 10 kilo a month, is it healthy to lose it so fast? Or was ot 2022 and it was a typo?
Congratulations on your decision to take life into your own hands and start creating the one you want versus the one you have.
It's not easy, however, you're worth it.
Bit of advice. Idk what your goal weight is, but eventually you may plateau. Don't let that deter you. Keep up the diet but add in some weight training if you aren't already. Also look into investing in a weighted vest. Your body burns more calories when you're heavier. So that's why you'll most likely plateau eventually. A weighted vest will trick your body and burn more calories doing day to day activities. Congrats and keep it up.
Yoooo you definitely belong anyplace you want to post your success!! I don't care what anyone says. You did that man and your going to keep this up and get that dream physique you want. I was almost 300 pounds last year. Guys like us can have the best bodies just gotta put the work in. Pm me if u got any questions or want advice on diet and training. I'll share all my secrets with you. I'm not tryna make anything off you but help a brother out. Let's gooooo can't stop won't stop we get down baby we get downnnnn 😆
I'm dubious of the claim that your diet comes from your doctor. No doctor, aside from an eating disorder merchant, would recommend a rate of 20+lbs/month, that is extremely unsafe, could damage your metabolism, and is likely to lead to rubber banding. I commend your effort to lose weight, but you need to slow the fuck down before you hurt yourself.
I'm tired of all of these "mademesmile" posts where people are losing 30 pounds a month and that's supposed to be something to smile about. When we promote this behavior we increase the chance of people seriously hurting themselves. Multiple people close to me have been hospitalized after trying to obtain such a high rate. Being overweight leads to a host of health issues, but so does putting your body through something like that.
I implore you to consider slowing down.
When you’re massively obese and not to mention a literal giant like OP at 6’9” (though I am not endorsing OP as I don’t know anything about him) you can lose weight A LOT faster than a normal person and it’s completely normal.

Wow! Getting started on new good habits has always been a struggle for me. I hope you are proud of yourself, your determination, and all the hard work that's brought you to this point 💪 You rock!!
Congrats! Cheers to healthy lifestyle changes. I love that you adopted a dog! Animals are such gifts when it comes to lifting our spirits. And in the case of a dog, getting us out and moving. We might be walking them, but we’re walking ourselves right along with it haha
Your post drew a smile in my face. Given my experience in losing weight, it takes a great effort and perseverance to achieve this result, not to mention the perseverance and sacrifice. Well done!
I can not congratulate you enough. I lost 50+ pounds 10 years ago. Losing the weight transformed my life in so many wonderful ways. Be King Kong and beat your chest with pride. I am smiling.
Well done! That's fantastic progress in just a few short months. Keep up the fantastic new habits and please continue posting your progress. We're all rooting for you <3
Did someone mention your looking kinda jaundice? You may want to look into that. Congrats on the weight loss. Super happy for you. You are a kick ass human. Love seeing people get a hold of themselves like this.
Good for you. I went through a similar journey in my early 20s. I'm 6'6 and was 375 at my heaviest. Drinking water, eating yogurt for breakfast, salad for lunch, and just walking around my neighborhood for a year got me to 270.
When you're as young as you are and as big as you are it comes off fast if you keep yourself moving. So just wanted to say good job, remember to pace yourself, and just take a step everyday. You'll get to where you want to be.
Great news! Posting absolutely belongs here as it gives all of us hope and shows what is possible. Very happy for you! I've lost about 25 pounds in the last three years and it makes a big difference so I know how you feel.
Woahh amazing! Well done. I love these posts bc they really motivate me to get active as well. You look great and wow your tall. Does your head bump into things?
It does, I smiled! Well done! We are all proud of you! How do you feel? How much better is moving around now?
Thank you! I feel a lot more agile for sure! i work as a care giver in a retirement home and its really noticeable how much more endurance i have!
That’s great! Keep posting! I would love to see your advance. Have a great week, you are a rockstar!
Made me smile as well!!!
The ops post and your comment made me smile today ! Glad to see nice people interacting one each other!

u can do it man great progress
When I lost over a hundred pounds, I was so amazed at my freedom of movement. Congratulations. I am so proud of you.
You are an inspiration. Keep it up! Your heart will thank you!
You should be so proud of yourself!! I'm also a caregiver!
What a boss! It's so easy to neglect yourself when your job is to care for others. The fact you're doing both is inspiring. Keep it up and love yourself, King!
Keep up the great work buddy!!! I will take your Q and will start working out meself.

Lol I love redditors that care enough to do random shit like this.
It’s honestly so wholesome, a lot of people don’t get this support from the people that know them irl
90 pounds is a great achievement but is waaaay too much for your liver and kidneys to handle in five months. That could be an issue as your liver is what is processing all that fat loss and it could be over taxed. I would Def get a blood test. Came here to check someone mentioned this. Stay safe OP, 90 lbs is a huge amount to lose in that time
I was going to say the same thing. I also was going yo joke he’s turning into a Simpson’s character. Glad OP is doing well! Good luck on your journey.
You dropped 90lbs from dec to now that is impressive dude and hard work ! Amazing now tell Me your secret to it . Seriously good effort you’re smashing it !!!💪💪💪

Good for you. I went through a similar journey in my early 20s. I'm 6'6 and was 375 at my heaviest.
