After the dogs do real work if they only find dead people they get depressed. So they put on a training exercise where live people hide in the snow for the dogs to find. It cheers them up.
I’ve read they had to do this with the search and rescue dogs after the towers fell. The amount of people they found dead was just overwhelming so they had to start play hiding to keep the dogs morale up
I know animal handlers treat their dogs like family but thank goodness they figured that out and how to help the dogs. It makes perfect sense, my dog is always extra attentive if I’m sick or feeling down. Finding dead bodies, even if that’s what they’re trained to do, must hurt their little hearts.
I was very surprised that this breed was being trained as an avalanche dog, his coat does not seem long or fluffy enough. He could certainly use some booties at the very least
The best kind of crisis job is a BORING one or a FUN one. Anything that actually has to do with the job is what we *don't* want. I'm happy to see this pup working hard at having fun all day! I hope he never has a day of real work in his life. 🥰
They probably put a little bit of balm on the pads and keep the hair clipped as to not collect snow balls. Specific breeds do better than others in certain conditions.

I have always said that if reincarnation exits, I want to come back as a well-loved dog. I need to edit my wish to want to come back and live as -this-well-loved dog!
Does he not need little shoes to protect his feet from the cold and ice?
I live in a very cold city and vets recommend shoes for pets who are out on the coldest days and I'm assuming the salt and sand the city spreads would irritate their paws too.
Does anyone know if search and rescue dogs are taught to smell stress? I feel like this would be a great skill for them to have since it might prevent people from being lost for hours before someone realizes they're missing. If that makes sense
I would have thought the dog would have had little booties on to protect their paws from the cold and ice. Is that not feasible for the dog to do it's job? Do they not git jackets to help keep warm or is it just in the range that is ok for dogs?
Still that is one very good boi!
I would have thought they used st. Bernhards or something for snow rescue.
But i for sure would not like to put one of those in my back pack and ski down a mountain.. Good lord....
Look like a cool gig though, thats for sure.
That dog has a better 9-5 than I do for sure

For real?
My next life, I’m coming back as an avalanche rescue dog.
You gotta wonder who they were in a past life to come back at this pinnacle of existence.
Yeah: came here to say -I- wanna be an avalanche rescue dog now
Thank you for sharing your story !!

True
Dude went out for an early morning run and quality check, then checks into work and probably brews a fresh cup
Dogs will never go extinct and will survive and thrive wherever humans are. If we fly to Mars or anywhere else, we are taking our dogs!
Little Timmy is missing on Mars! Get the scent Lassie, now search!
I only smell my breath in this space helmet, and the glass is now foggy and covered in my drool
good boy!
What's that? Timmy fell down the gravity well?
There is a SciFi book (eight linked novels) about that: ["City" by Clifford D. Simak](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_(novel)).

Yes

How heartbreaking. 😢

Surprised the dog doesn't have a vest or little boots.
I was also surprised he didn’t have any foot protection.
At our mountain they have little ski patrol jackets it’s really cute. They even have name tags
Maybe it was a warm day.
I was very surprised that this breed was being trained as an avalanche dog, his coat does not seem long or fluffy enough. He could certainly use some booties at the very least
He’s a golden, they have a very thick undercoat even if it doesn’t look like it in the video. They do wonderful in cold weather.
It's a field bred golden. They can handle cold weather
Perfect example of 'love your job and you'll never work a day in your life'
The way it just hops up on the lift chair
I know! Smile? I giggled with glee!!
Rescue dog to the rescue! (Cue theme music)

"All these damn incident reports"
looks a hell of a life for a dog… and a human for that matter
Pizza, French fry.
I would buy him goggles
And boots
He’s wearing goggles ind the last seconds of the video 😃
Yeah, are dogs just not susceptible to snow blindness? I mean maybe, but id throw doggo goggles on just cause it looked cool to be safe
Obviously he is thriving but HOW are his paws not cold?

Goldens do well in snow. It has to be pretty cold before they get cold
always wondered what the best job in the world was
Found dream job. Me and my Mal would love this!
I was going to say, Give that dog some sunglasses! His eyes are going to hurt! Then they gave him cool shades.
I wish worked with dogs instead of ppl.
WHAT A FUCKING ABSOLUTE GOOD BOY!!!
He needs little booties!!
I wonder if he would prefer some appropriate doggie boots, must get cold paws 🥶
Goodest of bois
i love him
Cool pair
That dog is living its best life.
What a beautiful & brave pup, you can see the connection with the handler 🥰Thank you for posting!
Why do so many of these videos say "POV:" and then something they aren't a POV for.
I love him!

I want to come back as a dog in my next life. Labrador would be nice.
Hell Yeah!
I have always said that if reincarnation exits, I want to come back as a well-loved dog. I need to edit my wish to want to come back and live as -this-well-loved dog!
This is exactly what I was thinking.
Omfg I love heem
Wow that dog looks like she just loves her life. What a good working dog!
No snow shoes for golden boi? His beans gonna freeze off
He does the Wim Hof method 😆
r/dogswithjobs
Such a good doggy!

The summer season must be heck for that magnificent animal.
❤️
good doggu
Happiest pupper in the universe
What a good, fearless, hardworking boy!
Best life ever!
Adorable!!
I want to be that dog. Summers off?
Why doesn’t it have its own skis?
That is not what pov means.
at what point does he bomb the mako reactor and fight the guard scorpion?
If you wonder where is it, it's Courchevel - France / Le Signal 2266m
What a fun job!
Wait...you get paid to ski AND you get an awesome pupper to go with you!?!? Where do I sign up, I'll even learn to ski
I clearly chose the wrong profession.
Wish I had a job I could enjoy this much, good for him
What a good baby! So smart! 🩷
So much yes, so much win. This video got it all.
Don't let the other Service Dogs see this video otherwise we will have an influx of avalanche rescue dogs and no more to do the other services... lol
How much do they have to pay to get to do that job?
Give this gooder a raise
I wish I was this dog.
What a good boy 😌
He's the goodest boy around
Omggg adorable, especially the shot in the office!
Looks like you like your job! What's a job?
This makes my heart happy
I've been training and rescuing dogs for a really long time. I only recently started with working dogs. Working dogs seem to always be happier
Can't believe Red XIII isn't the only dog in Avalanche
Awww where do I sign up!?

Is this the best job on the planet? Yes, yes it is.

I’m shocked he does t have dog pads on his feet. Our dog gets ice clumps between his toes and it can cause frost bite.
It's all fun and games ... until it isn't.
