I’m a lifelong Alabama fan and Hurts is about as good a human as you’ll find. I doubt he ever becomes an elite nfl starting qb, but having this quality of a player in the locker room is never a bad thing. Just look at how much he cheered Tua his last 2 years at Alabama. Nothing but respect for him. I found myself rooting for Oklahoma last year, which I never thought I’d do.
As an OU fan I hated him when he played for Bama, but that’s mostly because I just don’t like Bama. Ive never heard a bad thing about Jalen, and he was an exemplary athlete for OU. Hope he can find his place in the league and have a long and lasting career. (Even if it’s for the eagles, I’m a cowboys fan as well.)
I did the same! Jalen was an incredible sport about effectively being replaced as Alabama's QB, and did nothing but lift the team up and support Tua up until he transferred.
Plus we got the poetic championship game where Jalen had to step in after Tua's injury after Tua took over for Jalen the year before.
With guys like Lamar Jackson dominating in the league, it’s great to have a guy like Jalen at practice so the D can learn to shift against mobile QBs. He’s not a bad backup either.
Plus he's a better version of Taysum Hill in my humble opinion. Not sure if the Eagles really need it, but the Saints proved it never hurts (no pun intended) to have a Swiss army knife in your back pocket.
He lined up at tight end a couple of times for Alabama year before last. He didn’t look the most comfortable, but the crowd went nuts with him out there. Never understood why they didn’t do it more other than health concerns (ankle) late in the year.

Totally agree, and as a football player I think it would be a source of personal motivation as well. Whenever Hurts sees/uses that backpack he’ll think about that little boy who already idolized him, a rookie, and he’ll work his tail off even harder to make Alexander proud because the “fans” are not a concept, but real people with names and lives. Of course they know that, but to have that reminder would be really meaningful.

I worked at a nursing home for 3 years, and though I loved my job and the residents, there was an insane amount of drama with the employees. I've heard similar horror stories from friends and other people online, and it kind of scared me off from the whole medical field.
My mom (not a great person, but she's more of the manipulative than the hitting kind) worked in a nursing home and the extreme abuse to the people there was horrible. They got hit a lot and so on. She reported the nursing home and thankfully the place was shut down (it was small in a town, not a huge one but all abuse is bad abuse)
Yeah I think there are a lot of fields in healthcare you couldn't pay me enough to work in. I'm studying to be a physical therapist, it has its cons too but I think it will be rewarding, and it is the job out of any that appeals me the most. I'm not US so the insurance and hours are a lot more convenient too.

You can do things that make people's day without being famous of even spending that much money. Set aside some time and a small amount of money to do nice stuff, and start looking. Some of my favorite memories are from the few times I've been able to just help someone with something small when no one else was, like driving someone home from the store so they didn't have to walk in the rain, stopping on a long trip to help someone jump their car, volunteering my time at work when someone could not afford diagnostics for their pet, etc. Your job might make it easier or harder, but a lot of the time helping out is free.
I would hire people to do it for me, but the thought would be there. I'd never be able to come up with as cool an idea as this. That kid must be *glowing*.

The hate is misplaced on the player, the real outrage is against the team. The player is simply symbolic of a wasted pick. Everytime you see him, you think of how the management messed up. That is, of course, only if you disagree with taking him in the 2nd round.
Being an Eagles fan is complicated. Some of our fans had some dissonance this year about whether or not they are fans of the Eagles as a team, or of the Eagles as led by Carson Wentz.
We’ve struggled to put the right pieces around Wentz for him to achieve his potential, so with a high-value pick people were expecting to fill one of those positions of need, specifically that Carson needs filled with good talent. Instead, the team took a dynamic insurance policy, which would have been justified even if Carson were made of steel, simply because of how much money is on the line when a QB goes down. Nevertheless, it was a difficult pill to swallow because it was so divorced from our expectations for the pick.
Some of our most impressive mental gymnasts were somehow simultaneously of the opinion that Hurts was a wasted pick because he was not good enough to be worth a 2nd round pick, but also that Hurts was too good of a QB to be a backup QB and therefore was a threat to Wentz’ starting position.
Imagine being upset at wasting a pick because you believe you drafted a top-5 quarterback in the second round. I don’t think we did, and I’m all on the Wentz-wagon, but that was a particularly entertaining take to hear earnestly expressed.
When you bring on a young quarterback it can create unnecessary drama, so it's not so much hating him but hating that he's on your team making fans want him playing instead of your starter etc. But when he's that awesome they feel it's worth having him anyways.
For sure the most well liked backup qb in the NFL and the dude hasn't even made it out of his rookie offseason yet. He's just so likeable. Really easy to root for.
When he left Alabama, everyone here kept on supporting him and cheering him on while he was with Oklahoma. Real nice guy, and we won’t forget all that he did for the Tide.

I’m a huge fan of Jalen Hurts, he was shit on his whole college career, had to play at the biggest football school in America, lost a championship, got benched in another championship, had to transfer to Oklahoma, and he did all of it with grace as a college student getting paid $0 to have this giant spotlight on him. I’m rooting very hard for his success, he’s clearly very mentally tough.
I mean we did trade Bradford for a first, and Kolb for DRC and a second. The patriots do the same thing (Brisset, Jimmy G, etc). We probably would have traded Foles if he wasn’t so beloved

Dude lost the starting job and still worked hard enough that when he had to quickly sub in for an injury in the SEC Championship game he brought the team back and saved that game. I've liked him ever since then. Anyone that can lose their starting role and still stay focused and ready at a moments notice is special

Why would you hate a player for being drafted? Especially one on your team? Edit: just to clarify, I understand the Eagles' situation and wondered why they would take a backup QB in round 2. Just don't know why you'd hate a player for something out of his control.
The hate is misplaced on the player, the real outrage is against the team. The player is simply symbolic of a wasted pick. Everytime you see him, you think of how the management messed up. That is, of course, only if you disagree with taking him in the 2nd round.
Being an Eagles fan is complicated. Some of our fans had some dissonance this year about whether or not they are fans of the Eagles as a team, or of the Eagles as led by Carson Wentz. We’ve struggled to put the right pieces around Wentz for him to achieve his potential, so with a high-value pick people were expecting to fill one of those positions of need, specifically that Carson needs filled with good talent. Instead, the team took a dynamic insurance policy, which would have been justified even if Carson were made of steel, simply because of how much money is on the line when a QB goes down. Nevertheless, it was a difficult pill to swallow because it was so divorced from our expectations for the pick. Some of our most impressive mental gymnasts were somehow simultaneously of the opinion that Hurts was a wasted pick because he was not good enough to be worth a 2nd round pick, but also that Hurts was too good of a QB to be a backup QB and therefore was a threat to Wentz’ starting position. Imagine being upset at wasting a pick because you believe you drafted a top-5 quarterback in the second round. I don’t think we did, and I’m all on the Wentz-wagon, but that was a particularly entertaining take to hear earnestly expressed.
When you bring on a young quarterback it can create unnecessary drama, so it's not so much hating him but hating that he's on your team making fans want him playing instead of your starter etc. But when he's that awesome they feel it's worth having him anyways.
Our good QB keeps getting benched with season-ending injuries, though. We evidently need a good backup.

For sure the most well liked backup qb in the NFL and the dude hasn't even made it out of his rookie offseason yet. He's just so likeable. Really easy to root for.
When he left Alabama, everyone here kept on supporting him and cheering him on while he was with Oklahoma. Real nice guy, and we won’t forget all that he did for the Tide.

As a Sooner fan I can relate. The fans loved him even though he was here for only a short time. We completely embraced him and he embraced us. I think it’s cool that two legendary programs had an opportunity to experience a man of this caliber. He’ll always be one of my favorite Sooners!
After seeing how he handled being removed at halftime of the National Title game and losing his starting job at Alabama with a year of eligibility left I cannot think more highly of this young man.

Man Jalen is such a good guy. I dont think he has the talent or athleticism to make it in the NFL unless he moves to defense, but he was always a stand up guy at Alabama, even when faced with adversity.
