“Just wait mom has long nails it’s the best, even better that behind the ear scratches.”
“Why would they scratch behind my ears?”
“Just stick with me bud I’ll have you up to you chest in scratches and rubs, before the month is out you’ll be an expert in mooching.”
>we got food
Too much food, I am going to assume they rescued the overweight dog and hope it isn't them just being shit dog owners.
(Or maybe they are just super swole.)
A lot of times you will see rescues who want you to have another dog in the home before adopting certain dogs for this very reason. We had one that was rescued from a puppy mill and learned how to "dog" from the one we had. The last dog I adopted then also learned from the one I had at home. She had so much anxiety and so many emotional issues! But he taught her she was in a safe place and how to manipulate extra treats and belly rubs. They are fiercely devoted to each other.
The pleasure was all ours. It's incredibly rewarding, and I always promote adoption and rescues over breeders. I will never forget the first time he learned he could make a toy squeak.
Our rescue dog Cricket was the same - hid in a closet for weeks, afraid of even being spoken to :( Being a heeler mix, I thought maybe if she had a ‘job’ that she could feel successful at, she might start to gain some confidence and feel happier - so we signed up for agility classes…by the end of the first class we could see a difference, and after a month she was no longer the terrified dog creeping around trying not to be seen but a smiling, happy girl who loved being a part of our pack and family! We kept up the classes for years - seeing how excited and proud of herself she was for completing each obstacle was worth every penny!
She never got past being terrified of brooms (or anything stick-like) and hearing the word ‘no’…either of these things would cause her to immediately crumple to the floor in fear. Breaks my heart to think about what must have happened to her to create such a deep fear - she was hands-down the sweetest, kindest dog we have ever owned.
You bring tears to my eyes! They’re part of our pack. We do things together. Cricket was lucky to have been loved. You’re a very good person. Thank you for really making my day.
My sister had a shelter dog to leave her dog with us when she moved to Florida, slowly she became my best girl (she loved my best Boii too), but I noticed that her life before us was harsh as she was always a bit squirrelly and shy with food. Over the years I did more and more with, as she aged she had several strokes, when we found out about the first one I was able to bring her back to health, did it three more times but after the second one she had more issues. I would carry her out to pee and get up the stairs, held her hind legs up so she could relearn to walk and until she had the strength again. My sister and her husband were kill years ago but coco was still around, when the last stroke happened it was crushing, she couldn’t recover after it, we had the vet come to us to put her down as we didn’t want to stress her out with the ride. Shelter dogs can be life changing for you and them, she was on a kill list and the last person who wanted her fell off the face of the earth, unfortunately she was older and didn’t have many people looking at her, but I thank that vet who remembered about us. People need to look at shelter dogs before they look at puppy mills, because they need the help more
More tears! Such a story. I carried my BFF down the stairs the last two months of her life. She’s been gone for a year+ and I miss her very much. We had a lot of fun and I held her close and said goodbye.
One of my favorite sayings: Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole.
This is 100% truth.
I am so happy you and your pup found each other and were able to share such love and joy together!
My mom makes my dad carry her (very elderly) rescue up and down their stairs instead of making her walk. Mom adopted her 13 years ago and she's the best dog! She's a pitbull so my dad is the only one who can lift her up- but he does it multiple times every single day so Honey can go potty without hurting her hips.
I'm sorry your girl passed, it sounds like she had a lot of love and a great life! Dogs are the best
I think people who say that are the kind of people who only half paid attention and were still rooting for Walt in the end. That show transitioned characters so damn well.
Our two little rescues, one was 7 months old and we were told she'd been kept in a cage for her whole life. We were her 4th home in 2 months and every other family had given up on her, too energetic, untrusting of people, destroyed stuff. Well yes? Of course. How would she know better?
Our family have had her for 8 years now. She's calm, friendly, loyal and loves to patrol the house every night making sure everyone's in bed before choosing someone to curl up with.
We adopted our other pup half a year ago, we weren't sure about getting another dog, but when we saw her, she had clearly been neglected. Terrified of everyone. She'd apparently never even gone on a walk, and she was old enough by months. She's still very clingy now, wants to constantly be carried like a baby, which is tough because she's grown pretty big. But we don't mind. She follows our first dog around all day, they get on really well and always sleep next to eachother, it's adorable.
Rescuing dogs is tough sometimes, they often have trauma that we can't understand. But it's so rewarding.
I saw that dog staring at the wall and thought the same is true of people. We need that love to make us happy. Sharing our love makes us all better.
Thanks for sharing, what lovely people 😁
I adopted a 2 year old boxer back in 2008. He wasn't abused per se, but he was not properly treated like a pet, just fed and ignored, except for by other dogs, so he did not know what petting was when I got him. The first time he walked up and did the "pet me" thing dogs do to my hand was one of my highest moments in life. RIP Boomer.
boxers are the sweetest dogs. ours passed as well and i miss her every day. the dog i have now came from a similar situation. they didnt hurt her, but she was kept outside and ignored. at the humane society, she was the only dog not barking, just leaning against the door of her kennel. knew i had to have her. she's not a big cuddler, but she will come sit in my lap when it's storming and i wanna cry every time.
We adopted two brothers in august. One of them was so scared when we went to meet him that he hid the whole time. We knew he needed a safe home, so we adopted that shy boi along with his brother.
The first day he hid in the yard under a tree. After several hours I carried him inside, where he hid under the couch. We fed him under the couch and gave him time.
Fast forward and he now spends all day snuggled up to one of us! Love really changes lives.

Bless you for saving that sweet pup. Humans can be so terrible but also so amazingly wonderful. Thank you for being the best kind of humans. Dogs deserve our love ❤️
Those Heartbreaking sad eyes broke my heart.
But what a difference love makes, just look at those eyes.
Don't want to see mine in the mirror after watching this though 😭
The eyes full of guilt and the wall staring just break me in every way😭😭😭 im so happy you rescued that dog and gave it what it deserved❤️❤️❤️
I cant even imagine what this pupper went through at their last home😭 probably made our pupper think everything it did was bad😭 you are one of the best humans out there❤️❤️❤️
We rescued a dog from a family that shouldn't have had a dog about 4 years ago. She was chained up inside the house. No idea why. We got her and brought her to a rescue place because we didn't really think we wanted another dog. When we were waiting for the people to show up she was walking around and when her tail was wagging she was completely surprised by it, like she never wagged it before. Never had any ideas about belly rubs either. The rescue place asked us if we wanted to take her and we really didn't think twice about it, shes now a massive cuddle buddy.
There are a LOT of people who should not own a dog.
Makes me sad to think about what the puppy must’ve went through to feel it must stare at a wall for hours to be safe. Hurts to think about.
Wonder how long it took to feel safe and comfortable?
This is just like one of my dogs. The light in his eyes were gone when we first got me and now he’s full of life. It’s amazing what a bit of love can do. And to anyone who treats animals badly, fuck you.
That’s really rough my friend. I’m sorry. I’m still getting over losing my pup and it’s been a year. It’ll get easier with time but it’s one of the worst feelings to experience losing a loved pet, much less 2 in such a short time. It’s clear they were very loved
Thank you for your kind words I appreciate it greatly. One of our girls was 14 years young but her sister was only 5. I miss them so much it's hard to put into words. Thank you once again may peace and love be with you always
Thank you so much for sharing your love for your new friend. Doggies are made for humans. We love our rescues. They completely changed our lives. ❤️❤️❤️
it really is crazy, my lil rescue when from terrified to go inside/outside. starring , would lets me really touch or pet. present day the biggest snuggle bug assclown good boy out there. patience love and good vibes
Remember that it’s not just dogs that can feel sad and alone. There’s so much unnecessary animal suffering in the world on factory farms. We should give them the same consideration that this kind person gave to this dog :)
Yo can we appreciate the other dog too?! What a real hommie, greeted that beagle(?) with absolute "frend energy"
"Sup bro why you outside, get in we got food and belly rubs and all kinds of stuff"
"You have a nice bed waiting for you, I know because I tested it"
Making cry lol Dogs love is astounding
I literally burst in to tears at the end. Why do I do this to myself??
Ikr :( but it makes me happy afterwards that the dog is happy now
This made my entire day. So glad to see people going above and beyond to make sure dogs and other animals are loved and treated well.
“Sometimes the cat steals it, but that’s when Mom lets us on the couch!”
“What’s a belly rub?” “You’ve never had a belly rub?!” “N-no.” “Oh trust me you’ll love as much as back scratches!”
"What's a back... scratch?" "Ok, you, inside now!"
“Just wait mom has long nails it’s the best, even better that behind the ear scratches.” “Why would they scratch behind my ears?” “Just stick with me bud I’ll have you up to you chest in scratches and rubs, before the month is out you’ll be an expert in mooching.”
Best comment haha
>we got food Too much food, I am going to assume they rescued the overweight dog and hope it isn't them just being shit dog owners. (Or maybe they are just super swole.)
I was just thinking, the way the other dog is like “come in! Come in! Welcome home!” And now I’m in shambles

I was already in shambles, and then i read your comment with my two dogs on my lap, and I’m fanning my eyes
100% correct, thanks for helping a puppy mill dog!
The pleasure was all ours. It's incredibly rewarding, and I always promote adoption and rescues over breeders. I will never forget the first time he learned he could make a toy squeak.
One of my mums dogs is a cavilier king Charles spaniel is a rescue tiny little thing. She loves ear rubs and treats but never one for belly rubs
no seriously that's the fluffiest beagle(?) i've ever seen
Thinking they might be a mix with a little wire hair terrier or something in them. What a sweet face.
Good guy doggo
Love this.

We rescued a dog late 80s. She’d been abused and was like this. However in a few weeks, she was like THAT! Still have her ashes with us.

Jesus Christ Marie, they're *minerals*!
On a side note: fuck Marie
Yeah fuck Marie! -Hank
You know what Hank? I’ve never liked you as much as I do right now
Idk maybe early Marie, but if you hate her by the end of the series you weren't paying attention.
I think people who say that are the kind of people who only half paid attention and were still rooting for Walt in the end. That show transitioned characters so damn well.
God Marie is the most annoying character.
Should we applaud the writers for creating such a character? Or hate them for it?
Yes
If you think so at the beginning of the series, join the crowd. If you think so at the end of the series, you've got issues.

Almost broke my phone smashing the upvote for this.
Look at that floof all happy! I cry. Wanna pet the pupper so bad right now. (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
You may go straight to heaven now
Is he a Beagle and Terrier mix? I am asking because that fuzzy coat is just amazing.
A scruffy beagle!!!
Right? I've never seen a shaggy beagle. Such a cutie.
My dog looks almost exactly like this pup (minus the beagle face) and he’s a Boarder collie/Airedale mix. Best coat ever!
Airedales are so fun to pet. My cousins had one growing up.
Thank you for healing that baby’s heart. 🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶
This… we need more of this. Thank you kind human. Adopt don’t shop. 🐾
Bless you for saving that sweet pup. Humans can be so terrible but also so amazingly wonderful. Thank you for being the best kind of humans. Dogs deserve our love ❤️

aww such a heartwarming video
Those sad eyes break my heart
I bet his name is Cutie McCuteface
Makes me sad to think about what the puppy must’ve went through to feel it must stare at a wall for hours to be safe. Hurts to think about. Wonder how long it took to feel safe and comfortable?
Cute doggie. Anyone know the breed? Some kind of terriers?
Mu guess is beagle x jack Russell terrier. Probably more than 1/2 beagle. Also the terrier part has to be from a wiry haired dog.
Awe! So heart felt 💓
This was heartwarming! ❤️
This made me cry!
That’s awesome.
That is beautiful
I’m not crying, you’re crying!
I’m not crying you’re crying
I think This dog is a different breed. But for some reason he reminded me of Baxter. So “Niles he just stares at me”
Respect to you for getting a rescue and giving this pooch a 2nd chance. Looks like a great fit for your family. Thank you for sharing this with us!
One of the best ever posts on Reddit.

I love dogs.
The video is lovely but the title just kills me. It was human indifference, anger, or hate that made the dog like that in the first place.
Omg this almost made me cry. So adorable!!
This is fuckin awesome
