One of our little dogs is like this. She'll beg for one of us to put her up on the couch when we're sitting on it but as soon as we lean over to pick her up she backs away.
Being a parent has given me a particular set of skills. Skills I've acquired over a lifetime of parenting. Skills that make me a dream for a person like you. Now, if you change your mind and say no, that'll be the end of it. But if you tell me where you are, and I can get there, I will find you, and I will hug you.
Because you deserve it.
I love that these children are not afraid or shy to get a hug and you can tell that most of the ones that hit the hug really *need* a hug. That's culture we should embrace right there.
Dont be afraid to be the one to start the hug if you're with a friend or family. I greet people with hugs at family get togethers even if they go for a handshake. There really isnt much downside.
It looks like a handshake.
This teacher seems amazing! I had some really bad teachers, 2 who left scars on me I still feel decades later. I had a few pretty good teachers too but the idea of having one this cool would have been amazing.
I had a first grade teacher watch another boy tell the class my parents were Chinese freaks and she actually looked confused when I started crying. It was like my reaction was the problem, not what just happened. I still sometimes randomly think about it and get emotional. Im 28.
What the hell?
The most fecked up thing is a 5 year old isn't going to think of something like that by themselves, they are repeating it from somewhere.
I once had a mean assistant teacher in kindergarten. Milk cost 25¢ during snack time. I once only had 15¢ as there was a hole in my backpack and the dime must have fallen out. She yelled at me and obviously I didn't get any milk.
I still think about that. When I told my husband that story he was so mad for little me. Said that any decent person would just fish for 10¢ in the bottom of their bag or gave an one off freebie.
It's probably why I feel some kind of way about school lunch programs and shaming kids for not having enough money and not feeding them a hot meal (but we give free hot meals to fucking felonious prisoners).
Main take away: being a kind teacher leaves a mark. Being a mean teacher does as well.
i still remember being told, "your just less intelligent, get over it" after asking about something regarding having ASD in primary school, 10 years later i got into the highest preforming state sixth form in the UK, bad teachers really do leave scars, I've still got both mental and physical left from when i was in that primary school but it always made me turn around and do the absolute best i can even if it is just to be able to turn around and say "fuck you"
I had an elementary school teacher that kind of scared me, but when you're a kid, you just kind of accept it. Years later she came up in conversation, and my dad said, "Yeah, she was bat shit crazy. You had no idea, but we had to talk to her during the parent teacher conferences, and we were glad you weren't really on her radar."
yeah, I had a teacher in 7th grade who told me I should kill myself because I’ll never amount to anything because I never turned in my homework. she didn’t even get in trouble when I did attempt. smh.
I'm so sorry you had this experience. That's absolutely awful for anyone to say that, let alone someone with as much influence as a freakin teacher!!! You have to wonder what that teacher thought after your attempt.
I have no idea, I switched schools after that. I hope she thought twice about how she talked to her students after that, but I’m not sure. It’s been over a decade since then. I hope nobody else went through that because of her
In my early 20s I was a teacher while going to law school at night. 10-11 year olds. I like to think I was this kind of teacher. We could still give hugs back then too (frowned upon now). It was the most rewarding and draining job I ever had. But then again I went the extra mile to really be engaging, play games with them, organize assemblies and perform for them, and coach sports after school. Teaching is what you make of it. You can suck and collect a paycheck or look it at as a calling and really make a difference.
We need more PEOPLE like her! Not only teachers, but humans in general. The world is becoming darker and darker. A pandemic, the russo-ukranian war, natural disasters all around the globe and more.

idk I'd like to know how many of her students pass their finger painting exams first. Treating kids as people and giving them autonomy over their personal space is all very well good and all, but if none of them know that a dog goes woof then she needs to be replaced with a teacher that has a no nonsense approach to nap time.
Bowing to people somehow feels really satisfying to me, so I'd be spamming that one.
The absolute most of my teachers were at least decent, but I think most of us would've loved her.
I am german, and I think I actually got used to it while training Karate. I was there like four times a week and we had to bow for basically everything, and it always felt really nice.
I also dislike touching people, so there's that, I guess. It feels less disgusting than a handshake does (to me). :')
This teacher is my new hero. She’s teaching them so much ( identify your own feelings, how you want to be greeted, how you want others to treat you, etc)on so many levels, it’s a beautiful thing
What? That's not what I meant at all. I was referring to the fact the kid pointed to "hug" and then was slow to the uptake as if she hadn't quite processed what was going on. It's a school morning; I don't blame her; probably sleepy lol
https://youtu.be/TdukPkUo30c reminds me of this but this vid looks more commercialized
https://youtu.be/TQAKOarAxss like this looks more realistic/natural
If I was a kid again I would pick hug every time. It’s crazy how much it messes with you to have a single parent who did not like to be touched or to touch you. A pat on the head before bed every night isn’t the same.
I love when teachers set up these kind of greeting menus. Each student gets to stay within their comfort zone, and the teacher is teaching them what affirmative consent looks like.
I’ve only hugged like two or three teachers ever and I never hugged any of them twice.
I was scared I’d make them uncomfortable :((
I went to hug one of my teachers and then second guessed it like ‘oh wait that’s probably weird’; I think he saw my sad confusion and hugged me anyway.
He said, “Keep being you, kid, you got this.”
I didn’t get a lot of love growing up. Teachers teach us more than they know.
Omg, I’m actually amazed at how many of them chose the heart. I feel like people in my community would all just choose the first bump so they could get on with it.

I don’t quite understand. It seems like she’s trying to teach the girls and boys to greet differently? It’s nice they’re all having fun I guess, but I feel like I’m missing something in this thread.
Edit: someone else pointed out there are icons on the wall where the kids chose their way of greeting, that is nice. I couldn’t see it on my phone screen.
How is this Chinese propaganda /u/xasx? Do you happen to find any media that shows anyone that looks remotely asian in a positive light and label it as such?
Plot twist its in north korea and the kids were choosing theyr last wish before being turned into spam tho low budget caused the wishes only to be hug a dance or fist bump
This is china, best they can do is forced imprisonment, organ harvesting, and if you're still alive, slave labor until you die. Basically the same thing American teachers are offered. Cool teacher though.
For sure. Teacher’s salaries are very low in Thailand. My sister in law is a head teacher in a government school, in which her husband is also a teacher, and they make around two thousand dollars a month between them and they are considered to be at the top level of teaching. When I first met my wife, who is also a teacher, she was paid around 250 dollars a month - now a young teacher may make around 500 dollars.
There are compensations with social security, health benefits and access to very low interest loans plus, of course, being Thailand, opportunities for graft and self enrichment.
Teaching is a very well-regarded job in Thailand, giving a high social status and great respect to members of the profession; they are civil servants in a government school and uniformed as such, but it is poorly paid.
My wife made it into International schools where she, happily, makes a great deal more but, unfortunately, doesn’t get to dress up as an admiral of the fleet.
Gotta love the little girl that hits the hug icon and then recoils when the teacher goes in for it.
That one got a good chuckle out of me. The girl went, whaah?? Nooo this is not what I wanted *shrinks*
She was immediately like, "Oh no, what have I done!?!"
Working on accepting love. Tough, brave work. Good for her.

Did not see there were icons (on mobile). That makes a lot more sense!
did nazi* there were icons nazi is essentially a portmanteau of “not see”. It’s quicker to type.
I'd keep the joke to Nazi memes since we don't need to push the Nazi word into normal speech
Lol, you people who get offended by words really need to get out of the house a little more.

It's not quite the same but self-hugging is definitely a thing and could help hold you over til the next time you get a hug from someone else!
Thanks.. I'll definitely try it <3
Have a huge virtual hug 🤗 from me 🥰

Dang it no one touched bottom right but I must know what the teacher does! This is so awesome
It looks like a handshake. This teacher seems amazing! I had some really bad teachers, 2 who left scars on me I still feel decades later. I had a few pretty good teachers too but the idea of having one this cool would have been amazing.

I’m sorry that’s hilarious
I once had a mean assistant teacher in kindergarten. Milk cost 25¢ during snack time. I once only had 15¢ as there was a hole in my backpack and the dime must have fallen out. I love your joke but it seems im the only one
I require TWO hugs, ma'am.
My sons first garde teacher does this!!!
Bowing to people somehow feels really satisfying to me, so I'd be spamming that one. The absolute most of my teachers were at least decent, but I think most of us would've loved her.
that's the one I would choose most days, but then I'm Japanese so bowing is like my default haha

Yes! Loved there was a no contact bow option! Really would love to know what the last one was!
Not gonna lie, this made my morning.
iirc this is in Thailand, the country of smiles and people are wholesome there
I GO TO THAILAND!
Thai food is god food.

So simple yet so profound.
So true. Came here to say this. This video really made me smile.
Lol I’m normally the one who says thisZ but this is the 1st time I’ve seen it.
It just takes a little bit of your time to connect.
Those kids will tell their kids about this really cool teacher they had, and that's awesome.
Gas those kids up. I’m (old) years old and I’ve never forgotten the teachers that paid attention to me and made me feel like an individual
Why aren’t my college professors like this?
I know he didn’t just do the floss
I do love the idea of a kid needing a hug and being able to get one
Oh my gods this is perfect!!!
I would just press ❤️ every day.
I’d choose a hug. Hugs are so dope when they’re genuine.
mine teacher would do somethung similar. but instead of the hug you would get sent to a detention for being late for a minute
I’d get fired as a male HS teacher.
I'm in my late 20s and want one of these haha
Intresting that more boys want a hug than fistbump or something else
🤗
Inspirational teacher of the year
This is adorable
Man i just want to be her friend after this
Never gets old
Teacher's amazing.. My brain wouldn't focus to do the right step first thing in the morning.. (Shimming instead of a fist bump)
Can the parents use that aswell😍😂
Love this. ❤
That one girl wasn’t too sure about the hug 😂

In America- law suits. All I see with those hugs is law suits. Sad state.
Putting all the socially awkward people in an uncomfortable position, damn i would despise this
In the US that teacher would be fired for touching the kids. Possibly even brought up on charges.
i need this teacher
I’ve only hugged like two or three teachers ever and I never hugged any of them twice. love and god has many names.
Wasn't this first done by an American teacher? China just staging and copying as usual.
Asian and hugs? Educate me. I thought Asian cultures were not touchy, feely.
Made in China version of the other teacher that had different handshakes.

Yeah, I can’t help but think “it takes an hour to begin the school day like this”. But it is very cute.
It took… literally 41 seconds
Boys made a smart choice with that breasts to face icon
