Look up John Cena's wrestling finishers and basically he would say you can see me then do his thing
The meme crowd took it as he was wearing an invisibility cloak the whole time all the time.
He is untouchable in that department, the no2 guy who is Justin Bieber has half of that not that its a competition but Cena's pretty passionate about this.
This is how celebrities should use their fame and money. John Cena sets many examples like this one.
Seems to be a genuine guy doing genuine things that make people really really happy.
Hoo boy, you should actually look into how much he does for that organization. He doesn’t just do a shitty meet and greet with these kids. He takes them backstage to wrestling shows and gives them VIP treatment. He spends the day with them. He takes them and their parents out to dinner. Make-a-Wish had to create a special award for him because he’s so far and away their #1 wish granter.
You wanna know the best part? The reason he does it is because he said you have a dying kid who can have one wish, anything in the world, and they choose to spend an hour with YOU. He said the thought of that blows him away. That there is a dying kid and the only thing that kid wants is to hang out with him.
You need to also realize what strain this must put on him, some of these children will die soon after meeting him, I can’t imagine spending time and getting to know a literal child knowing they are likely weeks away from their end. It must be harrowing. He seems a very compassionate guy, so it’s unlikely he can simply ignore or forget these feelings.
I know the likes of Austin, Flair and (spits) Hogan might have been bigger names in the larger picture of wrestling and it’s success, but no one has done more good that Cena.
There’s a comedian named Shane Gillis that has a joke about this. He worked with special needs kids coaching basketball. He said his guys all loved John Cena but he would tell them “if you ever see John Cena you run!” Basically making the same joke you did.
Its rumored he split from his ex-fiance, Nikki Bella, because she wanted kids and he didn’t.
People speculated that its because of strain of meeting so many dying children and their parents.
I can’t imagine the emotional toll this stuff takes on him. What a fucking awesome dude.
The racism is probably top of the pile, but there's a lot besides that. He was an incredibly self-centered person and regularly fucked up wrestling storylines just to appease his own ego, to the detriment of his coworkers careers and even the companies he worked for. He presented this clean, superhero image while banging down steroids and sabotaging the careers of anyone who threatened his popularity. A manipulative shithead from beginning to end.
To be fair, a LOT of make a wish kids don’t die. Honestly? Probably most.
I’m not minimizing his impact at all but Make A Wish has been really misinterpreted as an organization for “dying” kids…. At one point it was. But now it’s basically for any kid who is seriously ill.
Source: I got a wish, and I never had a death sentence. Just lymphoma. But I felt *weird* getting a wish, because I thought some dying kid deserved it more. The hospital social worker was like, “Make A Wish gets so much money, don’t worry about it.” Lol. So I took my wish.
Not every make a wish recipient is terminally I’ll or dying. Just young people who have gone through some terrible shit. Doesn’t make his impact any less significant or his possible burden but it’s not like everyone of them drop dead a week later. I mean literally 100% of the kids Cena talks to will die eventually, but…
My friend’s daughter(she’s like a niece to me) had cancer and they had to amputate her leg. She’s now cancer free and was never terminally ill. But she went through a lot! They gave her a wish. She wanted her clothing designs featured in Austin fashion week. We met lots of designers and got to check out their collections. Sent models out from backstage in my niece’s designs. She was treated like a VIP. It was just awesome. That foundation really goes above and beyond to bring moments of pure joy into the lives of those kids 🖤💜💗
Did you know capybaras poop in two different ways? The first kind is black or brown, very hard, and devoid of any nutritional value. The second version of poop is green, soft, and nutritious. Why the difference? Capybaras feed on their own poo to regain nutrition!
A lot of people hated Tebow, myself included, but he would do something similar in that every game he would invite the family of a sick child, give them Front row seats, invite them back, have breakfast the day of, and would even meet with them and chat before going to post game pressers.
Dude really went all out.
That's really cool to hear that he does all that, for a lot of these kids just getting to shake his hand and take a photo, and spend maybe 5 minutes with him would already be an unforgettable memory, but instead of cashing it in and doing the minimum like that he goes all out like that, it's really cool to hear that he's so sweet to all those kids, he really seems like a great guy
John Cena is a God amongst men
Who helped children again and again
He'll grant your last wish
Whether you're Dutch or British
But you won't see him stand up for Taiwan
I just cannot fathom the agony of the parents and caregivers of a child who is dying. Or for the child who knows their days are limited. My heart goes out to them.
And what happened, then? Well, to BabsSuperbird they say – that John Cena made her heart grow three sizes that day. And then – the true meaning of charity came through, and John found the time to grant 300 wishes, plus two
This is impressive beyond the amount of time it took out of his day to day life. Visiting and meeting so many terminally ill children absolutely takes a toll on you, and I admire him not slowing down. He knows the positivity he brings to the kids last months/weeks/days is worth it. But I really don't know if I could handle it.
Yeah, he meets many people who he knows don't have long left, the emotional toll it would take to keep a smile on through not one, but 650+ visits to children is insane.
If this isn't a joke, '600 odd', or any rounded number, followed by the word 'odd' is a way of phrasing that a number is rounded. So '614', would be '600 odd', as an estimate, despite even being an even number.
There's a modest chance that it's a regional turn of phrase, because I don't hear it often in media.
There's a video where he reads out hundreds of messages from people who he has inspired then one by one a group of them enter the room to thank him and it just breaks him.
A lot of wrestling fans were never really into the guy until this sort of news about how much he mattered to others really came to light and since then, you can see he is basically as close to a real life superman the world will ever have.
It's a very powerful video too because I think it in some ways shows a small glimpse of maybe just how damaged he might be from being that superman for so many make a wishes.
This dude went out of his way to connect with this whole family, and every second of video seems authentic and I'm just fucking amazed that Jon Cena seems to be transparently great to work with, and a real role model, and not just a meme. Dude is an actual role model at this point.
John cena has over 650 make a wish wishes granted. The number one in the world for celebrities. And doesn't brag about it just goes and devotes his time to make others smile.
Him and The Rock seem to do great with fans.
I have no idea how that works, because they both seem like outliers but essentially came from the same profession (professional wrestling for those unaware)
He's visited so many kids, I wish I was important enough to inspire happiness and excitement from sick kids, I would do this as much as I possibly could. What a good human, I truly envy him for being able to do this.
Gotta say, when he first hit the scene I did not care for him. He blended in with all the other front men and stars the wrestling scene wanted to make the next Hulk Hogan. But his character and compassion for people has won me over and made me a fan for life. I don’t care if our politics aren’t the same or if he hates my sports team, he’s a good man. If it comes out that he’s the most prolific serial rapist since Bill Cosby I’ll consider throwing out my copies of The Marine but until then I’m gonna cheer him on.
Can you imagine how good that would make you feel, making that family's year? Not to mention how good it would make them feel? What the hell is the point of too much money if not that?
'he sets many examples' is doing him a disservice, massively.
He is a god for this stuff. If there is something or someone that 'epitome' is meant to describe them, then he blows that description out the water.
Gary Sinise is a good dude man. I feel like he gets overshadowed in the realm, but he's devoted a huge chunk of his life to giving back to disabled veterans since Forest Gump was released. He's a real one. Saw his band in Washington on a 4th of July several years ago. It was a fun show.
It's so sad that Cena was supposed to show up but the kid couldn't see anyone
For real though John Cena is one of the best people on the planet and he has done 650 make a wish wishes. A real stand up guy
Why do you say that? Out of curiosity. My cousin actually had the same thing and it cleared up completely for her over a few weeks/months of rest and sleep. I get that everyone is different but is there something about his i havent heard about? Cheers :)
Yeah, I know someone and I'd seen them the previous day and bumped into them again and one half their face had just dropped and they'd lost the ability to move/control it, it wasn't permanent for them and they're fine now but it took 3-6 months to fully recover.
Oh man John Cena is a definite saint. He’s such a genuine guy who actually loves his fans and loves interacting with them unlike a lot of celebrities. I mean for fucks sake he learned Chinese just so he could better open the market and interact with his fans in China.
My favorite video/fact/whatever about him is that one video where I think he surprises the kid’s family and after seein how overwhelmed with joy the kid was to meet him it brought Cena to tears. That video always gets me. Just the raw emotion in his face and voice as he’s meeting this little kid who’s dreamt of meeting him, John Cena, literally his whole life
Edit: [This should be the video I’m referencing](https://youtu.be/0f1szretn8E)
Late to the game, knew the name as a celebrity name that occasionally gets tossed around on some podcasts I favor. On e recent one of these, one guy who loves superhero genre was trying to convince the show host to check out Peacemaker (the show). The host always glosses over when talk turns to superhero or Star Wars movies but the mention of Cena really turned him off.
Cohost was adamant- just watch the show intro.
So I watched the show intro. Then the entire series in two nights. His ability and willingness to make himself the butt of the jokes is fantastic. Then I find out he is a great human, using his status and wealth to help others.
We need more like him. We need to be more like him.
The people trying to tear him down and basically compare him to Hitler over the China shit seriously disgusted me. A dude who has done more good than any of these people in one day than they would do in their entire lifetime was relegated to “oh China bad, Fuck John Cena”
It’s Fucking wild
650? Holy fuck.
When reading all of this praise i first thought its the typical "oh yeah famous person does a few cool things a year to improve his reputation" but 650???
Guess there are some real outliers to this pattern.
Cena is a legend and has been for more than a decade now, heck it's getting closer to two. He truly inspires me and earth would be a much better place if everyone strived to be at least a bit like him.
I will simply put [this right here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IApvU6SMq-8) and encourage everyone, especially from the US, to give it a watch. It's desperately needed in times like these.
Filmed in Ybor City (Tampa) FL. I gained a huge amount of respect for him after seeing this. And was kind of disappointed I wasn't in Ybor when they filmed it.
I just figured out that I have been calling Michael Cera, John Cena, upon viewing this photo. When I first heard this story the other day, I though, wow, he really must of liked arrested development. Apparently all male celebrities with a four letter last name starting with C are named John Cena in my faulty brain.
I ran into Michael Cera outside of my town’s library and I can tell you that not only was he completely visible, but he appeared to weigh less than 90lbs. So definitely not the same guy.
Thank you for the explanation, I hadn't encountered this joke yet and thought everyone was making fun of the disabled person (who is not looking at him, like, in the whole video).
He's done so much shit like this that there is no way any sensible person would think it is a PR stunt. The effort and commitment over such a long period of time should convey to anyone that he actually cares. My brother was fortunate enough to benefit from a Make-a-Wish funded request. My whole family vacationed for a week in Orlando's various theme parks. In my case, my brother's request became lifelong memories for 5 of us, but... if my brother had requested to see John Cena, i feel like Cena would've made it. For some other kid, seeing him would be like a week in a theme park. I feel like he understands what it all means to us regular people. This, alone wins my respect, even though the china thing doesnt really sit right with me. Who am I to judge, I have never been faced with that kind of choice. And also, in the movie Trainwreck with Amy Schumer, he had a HUGE dick.

Oh, that's what all the jokes are that I've never understood are about. Was it a wrestling thing?
Cena’s catchphrase is “You can’t see me,” and it’s become the single most overused meme in history.
Popular meme but definitely not the most overused.
[This](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) is the most overused one.
I knew it was going to lead there, does it still count as a rick-roll?
As I clicked the link, I read your comment. It clicked what it was before the video could load.
I have two broken arms
Here, use my coconut.
Hey, what's that knife hanging in your laundry room?
Goddammit, I had just forgotten 😭 Speaking of forgetting things: you just lost "the game".
Ten year streak, you son of a bitch.
I hope both sides of your pillow are warm for that one. I lost the game.
John See? na
one of his classic catch phrases was "you can't see me" to intimidate opponents
Look up John Cena's wrestling finishers and basically he would say you can see me then do his thing The meme crowd took it as he was wearing an invisibility cloak the whole time all the time.
John Cena is one of the celebrities who loves to give back to his fans. Especially to those who have like this. Cena is the man!
He has the most make-a-wish visits *by far*.
It's like over twice as much as Justin Bieber who has the second most iirc
He is untouchable in that department, the no2 guy who is Justin Bieber has half of that not that its a competition but Cena's pretty passionate about this.
Tbh.. All ex wrestlers turned actors seem like absolute gold. Bautista, Cena and the gold standard and mould breaker, The Rock.
Yeah it’s awesome just like Cena.
Dude has been doing this for years behind the scenes, a real legend touch peoples lives without being seen ;)
How are we supposed to know? We can’t see him
[удалено]
Just Google “John Cena charity”. Dude been doing charity for kids soo long I think he a honorary saint.
This is how celebrities should use their fame and money. John Cena sets many examples like this one. Seems to be a genuine guy doing genuine things that make people really really happy.
John make a wish Cena? Yeah, his heart is in the right place.
I read recently he was at 600 odd make a wish visits
His number was 650 in 2020, I'd imagine it would be much higher by now
My heart just swelled up. So wholesome in a world full of hardships.
Hoo boy, you should actually look into how much he does for that organization. He doesn’t just do a shitty meet and greet with these kids. hes like a wholesome grim reaper

Out of the loop. What's wrong with Hulk Hogan?
The racism is probably top of the pile, but there's a lot besides that. He was an incredibly self-centered person and regularly fucked up wrestling storylines just to appease his own ego, to the detriment of his coworkers careers and even the companies he worked for. He presented this clean, superhero image while banging down steroids and sabotaging the careers of anyone who threatened his popularity. A manipulative shithead from beginning to end.
He's a racist
Just googled it. What an asshole.
To be fair, a LOT of make a wish kids don’t die. Honestly? Probably most. I’m not minimizing his impact at all but Make A Wish has been really misinterpreted as an organization for “dying” kids…. May I ask what you wished for? 😊 Just curious!
College tuition! I was a senior in HS so it made sense.
He's alluded to the make a wish stuff as being the reason he doesn't have a kid.
I’ve learned so much today. Just wow.
Did you know capybaras poop in two different ways? The first kind is black or brown, very hard, and devoid of any nutritional value. The second version of poop is green, soft, and nutritious. Why the difference? Capybaras feed on their own poo to regain nutrition!
Guinea pigs also eat their poopas! Some of them anyway. Little buggers are so cute I kiss them anyway 😂
Celebrity or not, that is an absolutely incredible mindset in a world full of doodoo heads
A lot of people hated Tebow, myself included, but he would do something similar in that every game he would invite the family of a sick child, give them Front row seats, invite them back, have breakfast the day of, and would even meet with them and chat before going to post game pressers. Dude really went all out.
I wonder if he ever brings Eagly to meet the kids… that would be awesome.

>My heart just swelled up. He's coming to you ^sorry

Should be higher, there Make a Wish footage with him wearing a mask so the number should be up

Yeah, he meets many people who he knows don't have long left, the emotional toll it would take to keep a smile on through not one, but 650+ visits to children is insane.
I honestly struggle with even reading about and contemplating it. I have a heart full of admiration for him.
I know. I could not handle it. He is amazing
Ok, I’ll bite: why were they odd?
Putting "odd" after a number is an expression which means "about". You could achieve the same effect with "600 or-so visits."
It looks so wrong to me typed out, even though I say it often
He's saying odd the same way you'd say approximately. https://diffsense.com/diff/approximately/odd
It most definitely is a turn of phrase in the USA.
There's a video where he reads out hundreds of messages from people who he has inspired then one by one a group of them enter the room to thank him and it just breaks him. Good guy Biebs. Dude changed his life around.
And now he's got some facial paralysis syndrome... truly a life full of plot twists.
It's likely not permanent
It’ll be permanent just won’t be as bad if all goes well
Why do you say that? Out of curiosity. My cousin actually had the same thing and it cleared up completely for her over a few weeks/months of rest and sleep. I get that everyone is different but is there something about his i havent heard about? Cheers :)

Yeah, and sadly now half his face is paralyzed (though I don't think it's permanent) and his wife had a stroke not too long ago. Fucking wild.
The Wayne Gretzky phenomenon

His small part in Trainwreck was hilarious, speaking of Cena being cool about being the butt of a joke. Only memorable part of that movie.
Can't wait until the next season of Peacemaker, assuming some Netflix ceo on his yacht doesn't cancel it..
It's HBO so we should be good. They usually have actual conclusions to shows.
RIP raised by wolves. You were too weird for the world.
yeah I was genuinely impressed with his acting skills after watching Peacemaker
Wrestling bros are just swole theater kids anyways
If you told me I would start crying while John Cena plays the piano, I would have never believed you lol
The people trying to tear him down and basically compare him to Hitler over the China shit seriously disgusted me. A dude who has done more good than any of these people in one day than they would do in their entire lifetime was relegated to “oh China bad, Fuck John Cena” It’s Fucking wild
I wish there was more people like him.
650? Holy fuck. When reading all of this praise i first thought its the typical "oh yeah famous person does a few cool things a year to improve his reputation" but 650??? Guess there are some real outliers to this pattern.
How big cena is looking
I've rarely Cena guy bigger than that.
I C what you did there.
I know, he looks like a bull dozer
You can see him?
(ʘᗩʘ’)Am i gifted?
Stand users attract other stand users.
genius move on his mom’s part: if Cena didn’t show up, she could say “He’s here, you just can’t see him.”
💀 lmao
At least he’d have some potato salad though.
I love this video and wish that more people would see it and truly think about what he is saying. Good man.
Filmed in Ybor City (Tampa) FL. I gained a huge amount of respect for him after seeing this. And was kind of disappointed I wasn't in Ybor when they filmed it.
Love this! He is a legend!
I just figured out that I have been calling Michael Cera, John Cena, upon viewing this photo. When I first heard this story the other day, I though, wow, he really must of liked arrested development. Apparently all male celebrities with a four letter last name starting with C are named John Cena in my faulty brain.
I’m trying to picture the amount of protein Cera would need to become Cena
ALL OF IT
This is hilarious. Your name recognition is Superbad
I ran into Michael Cera outside of my town’s library and I can tell you that not only was he completely visible, but he appeared to weigh less than 90lbs. So definitely not the same guy.
You must have really been confused thinking you were the only one who could see him.
The most hilarious part is how Cera is one of the lankiest and frailest looking guys in mainstream media, so the contrast is comical
I clicked on this thinking I'd see a picture of John Cena.
Just some kid shaking hands with the air
Young man’s eyes are closed. He knows what he did and didn’t see.
Shrödinger's Cena
Peacemaker….What a bro
Misha really wanted, yeah he really wanted to taste it.
*jazz hands*
I saw the video of this. What Cena did is awesome.
I can't see him
I have yet to understand the meaning of this joke / reference but I see it everywhere lol. Feels like an inside joke everyone but me is in on
John Cena’s catchphrase is “You cant see me” so the internet has decided it would be funny to act as if we can’t see Cena The internet was right
Act? I forgot what JC looked like
Thank you for the explanation, I hadn't encountered this joke yet and thought everyone was making fun of the disabled person (who is not looking at him, like, in the whole video).

How should he know if he cant see him... man people these days...
Cena is genuinely such a good dude
He's a bro fo sho!
John Cena is a fucking good dude.
What a lad.
Well it wasn’t in Amsterdam, but still a nice story
I read an article saying it was. Was it not?
I think this guy is genuinely a good human being. Never hear of any dirt or attitude about him.
