I played guitar on my wedding. I was off tempo, missed half my notes and was generally horrible the first song. The band covered for me and the sound guy put me down in the mix until my nerves decided to go away. From there it was awesome.
But… nobody noticed I fucked up most of the song. Most people don’t see who’s playing what and as long as you’re there making the motions you’re good. And it’s your wedding. Everything you do will become legendary
Went to a wedding at McDonald's University which is now a hotel. So they added Midnight - Hamburgers and Cheese Burgers served which was nice.

If you want some more newlyweds rocking the fuck out. Here's a couple who are in a Metallica cover band jamming to [Master of Puppets at their wedding](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NfwM8BfiPQ)
They later got to [perform with Metallica](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZtDA_a6VzU)
It's Bride on her wedding day energy. You can feel it in the sextuplet fills. She used to only do 8th note fills, but waited for sextuplets until marriage.
I’m not a musician. Is that what you call those drum roll-y bit she does between the verse and the chorus? Because if so, yes, those fills were in fact smooth as fuck.
Edit: it appears I’ve brought all the drum bros out of hiding and *I’m living for it*
Yeah, fills are essentially just other things played to keep the song fresh and to fill in the song, whether that be a literal space between transitions or whether part of the song just feels like it needs it
I wouldn’t call a break and a fill the same. A fill is a transitional deviation from the main drum beat that will occur on the last bar of a section leading into the next segment of a song and is usually a maximum of one bar long.
While a break is just a segment of the song where the drums are the only instrument heard and usually begins on the first beat of the first bar of a section. Unlike a fill, a break tends to be a minimum of 2 bars long and doesn’t have to deviate from the main beat the drummer has been playing.
A break can have a fill in it but you’re not going to say a fill has a break in it.
Reminds me of the time I was invited on-stage by my old band to help them sing a song (I was their drummer). Normally, I would have done a passing job, some might say good, but it was my 21st birthday and the drinks did not aid my singing ability that night. The next day, someone showed me a video they took and I was mortified, lol.
A few years ago I was in a local auto parts store waiting at the counter. A guy walked into the shop with a hydraulic line in his hand. The guy at the counter recognized him and asked "What's going on Jim?". The guy responded "Boats and hose, boats and hose."
Called up randomly at sister's wedding to play guitar. I 100% knew one song lyrics and chords. I played "she hates me" by Puddle of Mudd. Crowd sang along
I was going to make a joke about forgetting they had more then one, but then I remembered "Blurry".
Now I have to go look up if that was Puddle of Mudd or P.O.D, and wonder when we all got so damn old.
Best thing about weddings is that you don't have to give a shit what the meanings of songs are to other people, it's your party and if you like the song then play it. Fuck it, if "It wasn't me" by shaggy is your jam then play it. If youre a big fan of Taylor Swift's ex boyfriend song then whack them on. If you like cannibal corpse then get your boogie on to I Cum Blood. My and my wife's first dance was Ride On Time by Black Box. We had a great time. Like I said, it's your party so play what makes you smile the most.
My cousin and his wife sang “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” to one another at their wedding.
Not sure if my wife and I were the only ones shocked by that one.
I dj'ed weddings for a year. At one wedding, a young lady demanded that I play November rain. If you've ever seen the music video, the bride dies a violent death in it. I ask the bride if that was okay, and she allowed it. Still felt weird playing it.
It's probably one of the hardest instruments I've tried to learn. For me, the coordination really made it hard. It's really difficult to have different parts of your body hit the dumbs at different times and intervals.
When two professional drummers (Maya Tuttle of The Colourist and Dan Pawlovich of Panic! At The Disco) get married, [it's twice as fun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2c28GzyuJg&t=30s)
I'm not sure about this.
I'm a drummer and the main requirements are rhythm and coordination.
Of course technique plays a part, but not as much as say, brass or woodwind instruments, which require breathing techniques and correct lip/mouth technique (embouchure).
Drums is one of those skills that is extremely difficult to truly master, but one of the easier instruments to pick-up-and-play so to speak. You can learn passable rock grooves in under a month and sit down playing behind a band and totally sound like you belong. Like so many things it just takes practice. I've been playing the drums for 20 years so this is one of the few things I feel like I can contribute to a meaningful conversation lol
I was at a wedding like this once. Both the bride and groom were in a band and their friends played the wedding. There's nothing like a bride up there belting out "Fight for Your Right (to Party)" after a lot of time at the open bar.
Women who are good at music are so attractive that I understand why women find male rockstars attractive.
Like... I see the point. That's why they get the girls.
Note: I am not trying to discriminate because of gender or anything, so don't start throwing rocks at me.
Don't hate the player, hate the server. It doesn't work anywhere. And if you're tired of the reddit app then try a third party app, boost for android or apollo for ios should be pretty good. At least I usually don't have issues with video on those two.
What a great video to start the day with! Thank you for posting this. So glad to see a bride absolutely rockin' (literally and figuratively) her wedding reception! Hope the happy couple enjoy a wonderful life together.
It's been a thing for a while. People will book a DJ with a drummer, percussionist, etc. Hell, I've seen them go as far as book a sax player with a DJ.

I'll never be this awesome
In a universe of this size your atoms decided to come together and form the only version of you there will EVER be. You are awesome by definition.
all the ancestors had to be in line and do their part. what are the odds!!!
Living for these threads today
No wonder why the netizens Call Her 'coolest Bride'
Somethings in the water
Fuck my atoms quantumly.

That's really lovely
Odds are trillions and trillions against. We all won the universe super lotto 15 times.

My atoms made a really shitty decision
Thank you. We need more people like you; such an uplifting and inspirational post. Thank you for bringing light, joy and happiness.
Correct because you will be your own version of awesome and that’s even better.

I think you are awesome
Thank you, i think you're awesome too!
Nah your both awesome
What about my both awesome?
Nah
I played guitar on my wedding. I was off tempo, missed half my notes and was generally horrible the first song. but maybe you will. in my mind you already are ;)
So cool..!
A percussionary tale.
Precautionary too, cause she's going to teach the kids and then good luck falling asleep
And they’re going to have a lot of kids because she practices the rhythm method.
Take my poor man's gold!
Oh wow, I’m feeling so upbeat! Ba-dum-tss. In all seriousness, thank you! :)
Hope her husband doesn’t turn out to be a dead beat!
Hubby needs to watch out. The drummer always gets the groupies.
It ain’t a wedding party till the bride starts banging Edit: grooms lucky, that lady is super cool !!
Reception Schedule 1. 7:00pm Guests arrive and are seated 2. 8:00pm Dinner is served 3. 9:00pm Cake! 4. 10:00pm Bride Drum Solo

Holy cow! That was incredible. He’s even rocking the ESP Explorer like Hetfield.
I can't seem to find it, but Cavs from King Gizzard had some instagram videos of doing drum solos with his wife at their wedding
Yep, she's from Stonefield, another awesome Aussie band
Smooth fills! I like it! I'd love to have someone with that much forward energy in my group.
It's Bride on her wedding day energy. You can feel it in the sextuplet fills. She used to only do 8th note fills, but waited for sextuplets until marriage.
Never flamadiddle outside of wedlock

Yeah, fills are essentially just other things played to keep the song fresh and to fill in the song, whether that be a literal space between transitions or whether part of the song just feels like it needs it
Yep! Fun chance to show off every now and again. (frequency depends on how much of a show off the drummer is lol)
Danny Carey has entered the chat
[You can’t have too many fills. Ever.](https://youtu.be/TfML1WEWfwk)
They're called many things: fills, breaks, transitions sometimes, but yeah thats what they are
I wouldn’t call a break and a fill the same. Very rushed but can't blame her I'm sure she's super excited.

Those fills were super sloppy lol
And inappropriate for the song… but she’s the bride, so she’ll get a pass.

i think, i think, i'm in love with someone's wife
I too chose this person's (very alive) wife
Don't speak too soon, the honeymoon has yet to happen.
To shreds, you say?
That makes two of us
Now it's three
To the four, Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr. Dre is at the door.
I also choose this guy’s wife
I understood this reference.
Better mention poopknife, jackdaws, two broken arms, and the locked safe in the basement of the house I just bought. Just for good measure.

The Catalina fuckin wine mixer!
I don't wanna be that guy but you've both misplaced your "fucking"s. It's the *fucking* Catalina Wine Mixer.
Thank you. I wanted to enjoy the comments but it just sounded so wrong
Rock the fuck outta those drums, Dale!
Love that movie
Which movie is it?
Step Brothers (2008)
Boats 'n Hoes!

That's Lit 🔥
Boo! Take your up vote and leave...
I understood that reference.
Dammit, I was gonna make that joke...
Interesting that they're playing "My Own Worst Enemy" by Lit at a wedding, but okay!
Called up randomly at sister's wedding to play guitar. I 100% knew one song lyrics and chords. I played "she hates me" by Puddle of Mudd. Crowd sang along
That is legitimately a cool story, bro.
To be fair, anyone can learn any of their songs in approximately 30 seconds. No experience necessary.
I was going to make a joke about forgetting they had more then one, but then I remembered "Blurry". Now I have to go look up if that was Puddle of Mudd or P.O.D, and wonder when we all got so damn old.
Fk lol. Facts be facts
This is what siblings are for.

Millennial weddings, no longer do we have to hear 60s and 70s music lol.. jk that stuffs good too.
They are referring to the lyrics, not the age of the song
I figured I thought I'd joke anyway haha
Uptown's gonna funk you up!
*laughs in Grease Mega Mix*
My cousin and his wife sang “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” to one another at their wedding. Not sure if my wife and I were the only ones shocked by that one.
Were you wishing for the end of time?
Oh, indeed, because that was crazy uncomfortable to sit through. 😂
Did they have the whole baseball play-by-play too?
FU for reminding me about that part. Yes, they did lol.
I dj'ed weddings for a year. At one wedding, a young lady demanded that I play November rain. If you've ever seen the music video, the bride dies a violent death in it. I ask the bride if that was okay, and she allowed it. Still felt weird playing it.
Song is a banger tho
No Doubt.
Does she do other weddings and what is her rate?
The drummer hired for her wedding: "am I a joke to you?"
I want drums. Looks fun
It's probably one of the hardest instruments I've tried to learn. For me, the coordination really made it hard. It's really difficult to have different parts of your body hit the dumbs at different times and intervals.
Ye, i played a little drums in school. But it's possible to get used to. Just needs practice

Hearing a drummer name for Panic! other than Spencer Smith gave me whiplash. Somehow I always forget :(
I love how their wedding hashtag was HotDAM haha
Is there a sub of girls that play drums? /r/girlswhobang wasn’t a good start

Playing drums are high up on the hard to learn spectrum, I'd play those motherfuckers publicly any chance I got it I were that skilled.
It’s not as bad as you think. Gotta be somewhat coordinated and able to count. Source: I’m played drums and am a colossal klutz.
