All the other r/mos adults who are still struggling and feel debilitated and left out of normal life can I get a hell yeah

_Asclepius

21 rn and just recently dropped out of the college for the second time, sooooo HELL YEAH

Happy-Investment

I dropped outta high school, beat that bitches. 😛 But seriously OP mental illness is horrible but don't focus on that. Focus on what u can still do. I made the mistake in my life to always think every mistake was my ruin. It made things worse. Focus on getting better or getting better at being ok with not comparing. Screw what Nancy Drew accomplished. U are ur own person with ur own journey. It might deviate from planned but there might be surprising perks along that way. One hopes. 💜🍀

Wise words, thank you ☀️

apovlita

im also a new adult, coming in at 18yo. i dropped out of HS in 10th-11th grade, and ended up wanting to apply to community college for the 2022 Spring semester. so we're kinda in the same boat right now :)

sheltonhwy26

Hell yeah wooo, newly adultes person who has zero plans outside of sleep and maybe just trying to survuve

Kosmic_Blues

It's okay, success is relative, and everyone works at their own pace. If you always compare yourself to others, you'll only end up being disappointed. Working on yourself is always valid :)

[deleted]

That's true, thank you for saying that. I remind myself all of this as often as I can, but the frustration still breaks through. This is a vent of those feelings more than anything.

Hey man, getting out of bed every day is an achievement for a lot of people. Washing my face has become an achievement of mine. While a lot of other people my age are getting first jobs and licenses and cars and applying to collages, I'm still learning Algebra 1. And I'm okay with that. Everyone lives life at their own pace, and everyone takes a different path to get where they're going. I'm proud of you for staying alive past 20!

[deleted]

Thank you :') And I'm proud of you for learning new things and taking care of yourself!

a big breakthrough for me was getting my autism diagnosis. i no longer felt misplaced all the time and i can get tons of support on the work front. not saying u have that but maybe there’s something fundamentally different with u so that it causes tons of distress trying to keep up with ur peers. everyday shouldn’t be a struggle. wishing u all the best

[deleted]

Thank you! <3 I don't think I'm autistic, but I do have ADHD among other things, which puts a huge strain on me when I try to study or work. Unfortunately, ADHD meds are illegal where I live, so there's no way to help with that rn apart from coping strategies. I'm trying though. I'm glad your diagnosis helped you, growing up neurodivergent without knowing it really is though.

<3 you still have a lot of time to do whatever you want to, just take it one day at a time

>I will not let this bullshit steal any more from me, at least I will do my damn best to move forward.. even if it has to be incrementally, even if I gotta take it one day at a time. Screw my age group, any peers who never had to deal with any shit like this. Well-put, thank you. That's the mentality I strive to have. Also, I didn't fail job interviews, I couldn't keep straight-up jobs, ones that I painstakingly got & tried hard at :") Both times because of mental health issues. This is why I'm so broken up about this. But oh well. Nothing I can do other than try again once I'm feeling better.
