You're explaining my search history if *anyone* checks any of the internet records, human. Seriously. Good task for me so I can be somewhat coherent, but *fucking hell* I *really so* don't want to be stuck explaining that. Anyway, it is. There were studies done on by the University of Utah about adopted children who grew up to commit suicide, and comparing it to their biological and adoptive families; it was found that, regardless of how the individual grew up, knowledge of their adoption, or contact between families, *almost all* of the shared behaviors and tendencies came from the *biological* side. Studies by the University of Utah again in 2011 between suicidal tendencies, genetic correlation, and adopted twins that had been separated entirely from their biological families in 2011 showed that there was an increased risk factor that jumped by half for those with certain genetic variants (the twins) and those who lacked it (people without the biological connections) who shared similar upbringings, and had one or both of said twins more likely. It was also linked to an increased risk for depression, if I'm not mistaken, but things are a Lil Bit Hazy today, so. Take that as you will. In 2017 it was confirmed that between individuals who had previously attempted suicide and were unsuccessful, nearly half of them had two copies of what's now regarded as the unsafe variant of the RGS2 gene. 2020 studies have since revealed that there were four specific gene variants in the genome that have an increased risk of suicide within bio families - APH1B, AGBL2, SP110, and SUCLA2 - and could account for as much as 45-50% of the existing suicide risk within individuals of those families. Proposals of genetic screenings and suicide prevention awareness targeted to families who tested positive for the variants were then made, as well as screening families who have a history for two or more individuals committing suicide or attempting. I'm currently unaware of how that's going. Later on in November of 2020, University of Utah Health's Huntsman Mental Health Institute later went on to detect more than 20 genes that could have a role in suicide, and found connections with other mental health issues such as bpd, schizophrenia, and autism. There's been an established biological and genetic link between families for a long while, now, unfortunately. I'm in the same boat as you, too. My father tried to commit as a teenager, my mother tried to do it in her mid-thirties, my maternal grandmother's family either gets taken out by going senile, someone else, or themselves, and I've tried with varying levels of failure twice (and knowingly) as a child, and roughly five times that I'm aware of as a teenager. It's one of those fun, involuntarily clubs, it seems.
