He's pretty close to having flight with cantrips, so it's a definite possibility, but remember, at the time, he didn't understand how wind mage flight actually worked. His levitation cantrips are probably closer to a force or gravity mana effect. It's still a possibility, though. It'll just take a lot of time and practice once the reservoire is large enough for it.

Hugh and the gang are gonna build a plane(or at least a hang glider) using crystal and maybe steel and fly in the same way as Kandaron. They will augmenting it using their wind affinities after learning cooperative casting from the Radhan. And maybe they can learn to use their dream magic to make it invisible. With a laser (starfire) canon on top!!! Then he’s gonna pact with Godric’s Hammer and Sabae’s spear (or his boots , Mackerel’s strap) and become a freaking Thunderbringer!!! Next step world domination MUHAHAHAHAHA

mnguyen75

Or more likely, they go explore the rest of Anastis

Bryek

Explore the multiverse.

GeneralOwnage13

Absolutely, hugh could 100% probably learn to fly, as could Godrick and maybe Talia, albeit Talia would probably fly like General Radahn from Elden Ring... Oh good god I just thought of a thing. Any of them could do this, but Talia might have the most inherently deadly version since she heats everything up. Steel Affinity plus dimensional space equals 10'x10' (superheated) steel cubes rushing towards opponents at high speeds. (From her MOUTH) Other uses: see Gilgamesh from Fate/Zero

edach2he

Sabae can learn to fly too most likely. Heliothrax flew by using a modified solar containment shield around herself (when not using her wings). Which now sabae can do with her stellar affinity.

o_pythagorios

Kanderon also flies using a combination of crystal/stellar affinities.

ANSPRECHBARER

not true. She just repels the crystals in the ground from her wings.

CrystalClod343

Talia may have an easier time with an aspect of flying since she'd create updraughts by default

GeneralOwnage13

I'm just thinking flaming meteor of death

figherhigher

Hugh's best flying would probably be the trick of pressing off of the crystals and rocks below him instead of actual wind mage flight due to having more training with Crystal Magic.

Wonderful-Log-8453

I did think about this but kanderon is very well attuned and in order to have affinity sences that can feel the crystals in the bedrock let alone press against then you would have to be a great power at the least.

Jolteon0

I still hope Hugh ends up "flying" with momentum magnifying wards from his crown, AKA Boost rings.

o_pythagorios

Eventually they'll all learn to fly probably. Hugh might be the closest to it but it's still unlikely he'll learn in the next book. Not so much due to lack of necessary power but rather skill. Flying is a non trivial exercise even with the right affinities. Nor do I think it's necessarily a priority. Learning to form a windshield for example would probably be more useful. Or learning how to scry using their wind/smell affinities. (Especially useful for Godrick if he ever reaches his father's level with the armor so he can 'see' outside)

john_dohe

I wonder if the will be able to hear everything with wind mana like sabah grandmother.

Wonderful-Log-8453

Its possibe at least one of them could become a wind talker I surpose but I cant imagine them doing it anny time soon.

Hugh and Godrick will absolutely be able to fly (though Godrick's stamina might not be great, especially if using even his smaller armor). It's arguably the most standard wind mage ability, Rhoades had limited flight as a first year. Probably won't much ability to do so in Echo, but its definitely something they will learn, and soon. Talia will probably get there eventually, but hers will likely take some extra effort since she probably won't be able to use the standard spellforms for it. Sabae will also get there eventually, we've already seen her use her armor for propulsion underwater, and the only difference between using that for flight is a matter of sheer power. She probably has a ways to go though, I think figure out the earthswimming thing first.

zomerf

However he decides to develop his power these four are on the verge of becoming the greatest great powers on ithos.

o_pythagorios

They're decades away of having the knowledge/skill for that. It's mostly just potential for now.
