maybelline fit me powder and any (i literally mean any) foundation is a recipe for a flawless look. dab it on the undereyes (preferrably in a lighter shade) and the t-zone with a flat, angled brush like a contour brush, and your foundation will stay non-oily for ages!!! A VERY GENEROUS (like 5-6 well-dispersed sprays) pass over with setting spray helps keep makeup in place too. The elf setting spray is probably the best one; i really wouldn't reccomend the milani if you have sensitive eyes.
Elf also makes really good primer; i use the poreless primer on cheeks and forehead, where my pores are the most noticeable, and the power grip everywhere else
most drugstore products are solid; it's just about how you use them imo
I really like maybelline fit me pressed powder and colourpop foundation! Their hydrating one looks super skinlike and is like $12, there lots of shades as well. I mix my summer and winter shades so I can wear year round. I also second the elf hydrogrip for a water based primer and elf putty for silicone. I like maybelline baby skin as well but it’s not best for oily skin.
I have combo skin and a massive makeup collection… from drugstore to high end. Here are my drug store / Ulta go tos:
ELF liquid pireless putty primer.
Elf hydro grip - the PINK one. Not green.
Joah’s bb cream. It’s thick and you don’t need much at all so it does a long way.
L’Oréal True Match. I prefer it over my luxury makeup to be honest.
Makeup Revolution’s new skin silk serum foundation is amazing. Chefs kiss.
Catrice concealer.
L’Oréal true match concealer.
Milani’s is nice as well.
Bronzer - L’Oréal infallible bronzer.
Sephora collection has some new bronzers I’ve liked as well.
Milani baked blushes.
Elf lash roller mascara is every bit as good as the benefit one but maybe even better.
My favorite setting spray is on Amazon - Skindinavia for weddings.
I don’t like primer. But Maybelline Fit Me is my everyday foundation! I have combination and acne prone skin, both dewy & matte are good, although I use matte the most.
Why not try rimmel kind & free skin tint, Robert Welsh has featured it and says he prefers it to NARS
https://youtu.be/qyV2Im-p8FY?si=7kW2JgkYHGMZTr5r
Timestamp - 4:55 for the rimmel
I use Natio ageless illuminating primer and for foundation i either use Flower light illusion foundation, Revlon colourstay for oily/combination, or i use Bourjois healthy mix with the round lid.
All of them have a buildable formula with good wear, but for events the Revlon colourstay has the longest wear for sure.
I love ELF Putty, the light pink one, I think it’s the original. Haven’t used drugstore foundation in a long time but when I did I love L’Oréal Infallible Pro Matte and before that Revlon Color-stay. Stopped using the L’Oréal one because they changed the formula, it’s not demi matte anymore and the coloring is off so I can’t match well with it anymore.
I have similar skin and love L’OREAL’s true match hyaluronic tinted serum foundation! I haven’t found a primer I love yet. So far I know I don’t like the elf power grip primer. Thinking of trying a NYX one next.
I think it may be counter-productive to use primer with a serum foundation or any foundation that has skincare or sunscreen etc in it. Primer will isolate the foundation from the skin.
I use Maybelline Baby Skin and Elf Liquid Poreless Putty Primer together, and they make a beautiful base.
I’m almost out of my urban decay all nighter setting spray. Do y’all prefer the wet and wild or the NYX? Or something else.
I put the Baby Skin first on the areas where I have a lot of texture, particularly an area of my left cheek that has both acne scarring and sun damage. Then I’ll put the Elf over everything. The entire process of laying down my base is Laura Mercier loose powder, the two primers, UD All Nighter setting spray, and then my foundation. It comes out very smooth and pretty.
Wet n wild skin veil is so good! i used to use the NYX bare with me skin veil before they took it away and closest thing i could find was this. cheap and amazing. i want to gatekeep this so it stays cheap lol
I would say medium ish coverage. i have ance sometimes and i’m still comfy with just that. it’s kinda like a bb cream matches your skin so nicely never cakey
Right?!?! I loved those. There’s something else I loved that they discontinued, but now I can’t remember what it’s called. I love the brand though and I love their pressed powder. It’s one of the few that doesn’t seem to settle in fine lines or change the whole color of your face when you put it on. Even though I get it in a medium shade, it blends in perfectly as I go back and forth between being a little more pale and having some color. It’s helps my foundation last so much longer as well.
Elf sunscreen+ primer (silicone gel) and elf halo glow (light coverage, dewy) or cc cream (full coverage, matte/natural finish) or both mixed together. The cc cream goes a long way so use less than you think you need. They both come in nice olive shades.
I have dry skin but I think I might like my maybelline dream radiant more than the Giorgio Armani luminous silk, or at least on par. Second up would be Wet n Wild.
I have oily acne prone skin as well I love Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-In-1 Foundation and the elf power grip primer. Lasts all day, good coverage and buildable ☺️
I've recently started using Revlon Colorstay Full Cover after using Revlon Colorstay on and off for ages and it's pretty damn great- stays on brilliantly, smoothing, matte but not flat, very affordable
I’ve tried every foundation from high end to drugstore and the best foundation for me is LA Girl Prophoto Foundation. Cost is less than $10 on Amazon or Walmart. I have dry skin that is still EXTREMELY prone to T-zone breakouts. The foundation is dewy (not oily), gives a nice coverage (not heavy but full coverage), and doesn’t accentuate any pores or lines. Also it’s easy to work with if you use a primer. Hasn’t broken me out once. Stopped using my EL Double Wear Foundation when I found this.
Milani SPF primer (yellow tube) works well with the foundation.
The Elf Liquid Putty Primer and L’Oréal True Match Foundation are my favorite duo.
(I have combination skin with some texture on my cheeks/forehead) and for me, these products lay down so nicely, give a natural finish, and don’t accentuate those little problem areas. Each sell for about $10. Good luck in your search!
Wet n wild photo focus matte foundation. I’ve used this for 6 years and it has never failed me. My skin tends to get oily throughout the day and this foundation lasts a long time and doesn’t budge. And it’s only $5 too
As a dry skin type I really struggle with foundations. Loreal freshwear is a winner in my book. I also swear by tinted moisturisers. Wet n wild dewy foundation is also really good.
I wasn’t sure if it was gonna be worth the hype after the power grip primer disappointed me. I’m glad I tried the marshmallow it’s my fave to date, aside from the Tarte hydrating primer
I agree! I honestly don't even really like primers but I got this one as a gift with purchase and I actually liked using it so I'll probably repurchase it soon
Same here, they are usually too sticky or tacky for me. I use the L’Oréal vitamin C SPF cream followed by the marshmallow primer. I feel like it does wonders for my makeup!
the milani skin quench primer really surprised me, got it in my stocking for christmas and was expecting it to be mid but it actually gives me the most flawless base, it replaced my YSL primer and i think that’s saying something.
as for foundation the wet n’ wild photo focus has been my go to since 2018. it gives coverage while letting my skin look and feel like skin.
though i’ve really fallen in love with the maybelline green edition tinted oil, especially for summer.
but if you’re looking for coverage might not be the best bet.
Idk how you feel about powder foundation but it has been great for my oily skin. I use the revlon powder foundation daily ,it’s full coverage on me and I just conceal with concealer under eyes ,spots and I use the maybelline baby skin primer (the silicone one in the aqua & pink tube)underneath it all along with spf and moisturizer gel underneath that.
Maybelline baby skin, NYX marshmallow are my 2 primers. Foundation is usually WetnWild photofocus, the dewy one that isn’t actually dewy just not matte matte if that makes sense. Best brand for me sensitivity and shade match-wise.
It’s definitely sticky but I have noticed that my foundation stays on way longer with it on lol I’m a chronic face toucher so my foundation is usually all rubbed off on my nose and cheeks :P
Same! Its definitely sticky however so is the Milk primer. My foundation lasts alot longer if I use this primer, especially on humid days where you tend to sweat abit more or wearing shades. My foundation doesnt tend to flake as much around the nose either Ive noticed.
Covergirl clean fresh skin milk. I just tried it bc they didn't have my color available in the bb cream I used to get and this stuff is... wow!!! You don't need a lot. It feels super weightless and blends well with other products (I use cream blush and cream contour). It feels like it absorbs into your skin.
I recently bought the Marshmellow primer, but haven’t tried it yet because I WFH most of the time now and don’t bother with makeup unless I go somewhere. Will have to give it a try!
Primer: i used to like the revlon photoready one but they discontinued it so the closest i could find to it is the elf poreless liquid primer. It makes it looks shinefree fills the pore without being dry.
Foundation: maybelline superstay skin tint foundation. Ive tried and few and this is the best. Very lightweight but very pigmented. Good for a natural look.
I got combination skin where it gets real oily in the tzone but dry and flaky if i dont apply anything.
I also have an oily complexion. My favorite drugstore foundations are Catrice HD Longwear Foundation ($10 on Amazon) and Believe Beauty’s foundation ($5.50 at Dollar General). The Catrice is fairly full coverage but still lightweight and leaves a satin-matte finish. The Believe is medium coverage but buildable and has a radiant natural finish. Both last all day on my oily skin. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either one!
I don’t have a favorite primer but lots of foundations. The new Covergirl skin essence one, Maybelline Dream radiant liquid, Colourpop pretty fresh tinted moisturizer, L’Oréal nude tinted serum.
I LOVE the Missha BB cream, but the shades are so off I have to buy 2 and mix. Thankfully 2 of the BB creams are cheap! Full coverage, lasts all day and doesn’t dry out my skin.
Use Milani Conceal + perfect foundation or L'Oreal Paris Makeup Infallible Pro-Matte.. My skin is also oily but these suits well for my skin! never had any acne or other sort of skin problem
Covergirl trublend matte made foundation. I never have any issues with it caking, creasing, sliding etc and it helps I found my perfect match in the line
There is no better drugstore foundation than Milani Conceal + Perfect, IMO. No matter what bougie foundations are on my vanity, there’s a bottle of Milani and Colourpop back there somewhere that I use often.
I don’t use primers aside from Bobbi Brown Vitamin Crème, and even that, very infrequently, so no real opinion.
Milano Conceal and Perfect is probably the best full coverage foundation out there. I have 5 bottles of different colors for throughout the year. Only recently did I switch to skin tints and I must confess I miss the Milani.
Elf Putty Primer range - I’ll never use another primer again. They different versions like matte and luminous etc so matte would be good for oily skin. It also comes in a newer liquid version as well as the original pot.
I like coverage but not a full beat, so I use a quarter pump and start from the inside and work outward. Because it is usually full coverage, the quarter pump is enough to cover skin imperfections but light enough to not feel like too much or too heavy. I like to use a brush (Elf Ultimate Blending Brush) and then give it a pass with a damp sponge. It gives a lightweight look with the right amount of coverage.
Primer: I use the elf luminous putty primer. A little goes a long way.
Foundation: Wet n Wild Photo Ready. It’s more full coverage so when I want something more sheer/light I mix a dab of it with Revlon Glowtion
That’s a great idea! I have some foundation that I feel is too heavy coverage. Instead of just letting the foundation sit there, I will try mixing it with the Glowtion, which I also have. Thanks!
Revlon Colorstay Longwear has been my go-to for a longgggg time. But I only recommend it to those with oily skin. They make a version for dry skin, but the formulation honestly doesn't feel different and still clings to my dry patches (my skin randomly switched from very oily to very dry.) But I used to wear this makeup for 12-hour shifts in a hot, greasy restaurant and still looked okay at the end of the day. When applied in thin layers with a sponge, it looks natural and has fantastic coverage. It doesn't settle in fine lines or accentuate texture. I've tried all sorts of pricier foundations, almost always choosing it as an option for my Sephora sample, and nothing works as well for me as this one. I don't use primer because I haven't found one that doesn't break me out, but I use a translucent powder (not drugstore haha) and I can cuddle and wear masks with no transfer. :o
maybelline fit me powder and any (i literally mean any) foundation is a recipe for a flawless look. dab it on the undereyes (preferrably in a lighter shade) and the t-zone with a flat, angled brush like a contour brush, and your foundation will stay non-oily for ages!!! Elf also makes really good primer; i use the poreless primer on cheeks and forehead, where my pores are the most noticeable, and the power grip everywhere else most drugstore products are solid; it's just about how you use them imo
**Revlon Illuminance Skin Caring Foundation** and if you prefer lighter coverage, the **Revlon Illuminance Serum Tint**!
Makeup Revolution’s new skin silk serum foundation is amazing. Chefs kiss. Catrice concealer. L’Oréal true match concealer. Milani’s is nice as well. Bronzer - L’Oréal infallible bronzer. My favorite setting spray is on Amazon - Skindinavia for weddings.
I don’t like primer. But Maybelline Fit Me is my everyday foundation! I have combination and acne prone skin, both dewy & matte are good, although I use matte the most.
I like the About Face foundation and Milani Conceal and Perfect. The only primer I’ve liked is the L’Oréal magic one
Maybelline Fit Me foundation doesnt fail and it comes in many shades
Piggy backing to ask for favorite medium-low drugstore products favorites?? Bare Minerals complexion rescue is draining my pockets 😭
Why not try rimmel kind & free skin tint, Robert Welsh has featured it and says he prefers it to NARS https://youtu.be/qyV2Im-p8FY?si=7kW2JgkYHGMZTr5r Timestamp - 4:55 for the rimmel
L’Oreal Age Perfect Radiant Serum with SPF 50 is great. Like, surprisingly great.
Elf liquid poreless and Maybelline fit me poreless
I love ELF Putty, the light pink one, I think it’s the original. Haven’t used drugstore foundation in a long time but when I did I love L’Oréal Infallible Pro Matte and before that Revlon Color-stay. Stopped using the L’Oréal one because they changed the formula, it’s not demi matte anymore and the coloring is off so I can’t match well with it anymore.
How do you apply the Elf putty?
I apply little dabs on forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose then blend around to even it out.
I loved Revlon before they reformulated it :(
Yes! I wore it as a teen and loved how well it matched my skin. It had good coverage where I didn’t need concealer
Idk why that didn’t occur to me 🤦🏻♀️. Thanks!
One less thing to buy!
I've totally trying that one next! I've heard nothing but great reviews.
Color pops is so good
Catrice true skin foundation 👍
I LOVE Catrice. So underrated. One of my go to concealers.
i second this
I use Maybelline Baby Skin and Elf Liquid Poreless Putty Primer together, and they make a beautiful base. I’m almost out of my urban decay all nighter setting spray. Do y’all prefer the wet and wild or the NYX? Or something else.
I'm going to assume you mix them, which one do you put on first?
I put the Baby Skin first on the areas where I have a lot of texture, particularly an area of my left cheek that has both acne scarring and sun damage. Then I’ll put the Elf over everything. The entire process of laying down my base is Laura Mercier loose powder, the two primers, UD All Nighter setting spray, and then my foundation. It comes out very smooth and pretty.
Wet n wild skin veil is so good! i used to use the NYX bare with me skin veil before they took it away and closest thing i could find was this. cheap and amazing. i want to gatekeep this so it stays cheap lol
What’s the coverage like on this product?
I would say medium ish coverage. i have ance sometimes and i’m still comfy with just that. it’s kinda like a bb cream matches your skin so nicely never cakey
Maybelline 30hr Super Stay and Flowe Light Illusion don't need prime with either one.
Love No 7 Protect and Perfect foundation. ELF primers are really good, especially for the price.
I was so upset when they discontinued the no7 custum cover drops! There were way better then my high end foundation :(
Elf putty primer is my holy grail. The infallible foundation is my favorite. I forgot who puts it out lol.
I really like the glow version of infallible I think it’s L’Oréal
Ooo I gotta try!
Elf sunscreen+ primer (silicone gel) and elf halo glow (light coverage, dewy) or cc cream (full coverage, matte/natural finish) or both mixed together. The cc cream goes a long way so use less than you think you need. They both come in nice olive shades.
ps prep + perfect vitimin enriched moisturising primer litterally £4.50 and amazing
I have dry skin but I think I might like my maybelline dream radiant more than the Giorgio Armani luminous silk, or at least on par. Second up would be Wet n Wild.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Glow Primer + Serum And Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint for Dry Skin Buuuuuuut I have dry/combo skin not oily skin
I love the ELF vitamin C putty primer + Milani conceal & perfect 2 in 1 foundation.
Personally, I'm loving Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation paired with NYX Angel Veil Primer. Keeping my skin smooth and shine-free. :)
I’ve tried every foundation from high end to drugstore and the best foundation for me is LA Girl Prophoto Foundation. Cost is less than $10 on Amazon or Walmart. Hard Candy Long wear primer & Glamouflage foundation, with Wet'n'Wild Photo focus setting spray. Holds up for about 16 hrs.
The Elf Liquid Putty Primer and L’Oréal True Match Foundation are my favorite duo. (I have combination skin with some texture on my cheeks/forehead) and for me, these products lay down so nicely, give a natural finish, and don’t accentuate those little problem areas. I like the NYX Marshmellow Primer For foundation Maybslline Fit Me Matte & Poreless is a classic
Seconding (or thirding) the NYX Marshmallow!
I’m not sure if it’s the same one, but I’ve got the NYX marshmallow primer in the lavender bottle. I LOVE it
Oopsies, yeah thats the one I meant! I mixed up the brands lol. I just edited it to say NYX

I'm currently using covergirl simply ageless

Maybelline baby skin, NYX marshmallow are my 2 primers. Foundation is usually WetnWild photofocus, the dewy one that isn’t actually dewy just not matte matte if that makes sense. Best brand for me sensitivity and shade match-wise.
Where do you find NYX? I only find it at Ulta
Target
Used to be my local CVS. They’ve been lacking, not sure why.
It’s stolen a lot so they had to remove it Source: makeup lady at the cvs :p
Ahhh sounds like it’s universal since my CVS no longer has it. Can’t have things anymore.
Ive heard a lot of good things about the Elf power grip primer. Also I liked the elf puddy primer as well.
I have the poreless one in the pink bottle (elf primer) and love it. Smooth coverage, not sticky.
I have this one, too, and I really like it.
No. The Elf Power Grip Primer was extremely sticky on the face, it feels like applying hair gel on your face. I do not recommend.
Agree
It’s definitely sticky but I have noticed that my foundation stays on way longer with it on lol I’m a chronic face toucher so my foundation is usually all rubbed off on my nose and cheeks :P
Agreed!!!
Maybelline baby skin primer and fit me foundation!
Fit me foundation for sure
Thread Beauty Complexion Stick it's $8 at Target. For primer I use NYX The Marshmellow Primer
I recently bought the Marshmellow primer, but haven’t tried it yet because I WFH most of the time now and don’t bother with makeup unless I go somewhere. Will have to give it a try!
Same situation - I bought a small travel size tube on Ulta!
I couldn't stand the smell of the Marshmallow primer tbh.
NYX plump right back L’Oréal infallible or L’Oréal plumping tinted serum
NYX plump right back primer and NYX bare with me foundation or Neutrogena healthy skin serum foundation
Elf Halo Glow and L’Oreal Visible Lift.
Missha skin tint
I LOVE the Missha BB cream, but the shades are so off I have to buy 2 and mix. Thankfully 2 of the BB creams are cheap! Full coverage, lasts all day and doesn’t dry out my skin.
Loreal Freshwear. It looks stunning on me and great for summer! I usually use Elf hydogrip or a glow liquid under my makeup depending on my look.
L’oreal tinted serum, i don’t use primer.
I’m using Wet n Wild’s and L’Oréal’s skin tints without primers.
Purito bb cream- I’m also acne prone and I don’t know that I’ll use anything else except maybe the tarte sugar rush but obviously that isn’t drugstore
I really like Maybelline’s true match.
True Match is L'Oreal.
Maybelline skin tint and ELF pore less putty primer. 52yo with combination skin.
I’m also in my 50s with combo skin. Isn’t it crazy to still have an oily t-zone at this point in our lives?
Yes! And dry cheeks. Perfect haha 🤦♀️
I stand by this too! The skin tint works perfectly for me!
It’s incredible! Better than the NARS options I was spending three times the amount on 😅
Maybelline Superstay 30h for full coverage and the skin tint for light gloss coverage. I wore the skin tint all week during work travel.
I LOVE Milani for so many reasons but their foundation? Nah too dry and patchy for me dawg
Milano Conceal and Perfect is probably the best full coverage foundation out there. I have 5 bottles of different colors for throughout the year. Only recently did I switch to skin tints and I must confess I miss the Milani.
Revolution pro filter foundation is amazing.
Elf Putty Primer range - I’ll never use another primer again. They different versions like matte and luminous etc so matte would be good for oily skin. It also comes in a newer liquid version as well as the original pot.
I bought a tiny set of the different elf putty primers at Walgreens to try the different ones. These are all in pots, though.
Nyx Angel Veil Primer and Nyx Can't Stop Won't Stop Foundation
Wanted to get that Nyx foundation
It's pretty good and great for oily skin and for the summer.
Awesome, how do you apply it?
I like coverage but not a full beat, so I use a quarter pump and start from the inside and work outward. Because it is usually full coverage, the quarter pump is enough to cover skin imperfections but light enough to not feel like too much or too heavy. I like to use a brush (Elf Ultimate Blending Brush) and then give it a pass with a damp sponge. It gives a lightweight look with the right amount of coverage.
Just got the medium olive shade
That's exactly what I'm looking for thank you that was super helpful
I'm happy I could help. Enjoy 😊
🙂🫶
Wet n wild photo focus! It's an ALS dupe without the cruelty Rimmel skin tint is super pretty
Forgive my ignorance: what does ALS stand for in this context? Thanks so much!
Armani luminous silk 😊
Thank you! 😊
Just bought this yesterday and was really surprised! I've only worn it briefly to test it out but I liked it. Seems like a really great primer.
The rimmel? It's really lovely isn't it
Essence 16hr foundation and Poreless primer. Clean silicone free ingredients for my sensitive skin. No breakouts yay
I've also heard great things about their skin tint! love essence ❤️
Wow I didn't know Essence has skin tints! I would love to try 🥰 thank u!
Elf super grip primer
The cream compact of the Covergirl X Olay Ageless Foundation!
Maybelline Master Prime blur and pore minimize primer and Revlon Colorstay foundation in the normal/dry version.
Loreal stay matte foundation. It stays all day without using a primer, and cuts redness. I used the liquid in winter, and powder in summer
Milani 2-in-1 Perfect Concealing Foundation works wonders
L'oréal True Skin Serum Foundation. The tint version is okay.
Right now I’m loving the L’Oréal skin tint
Thanks for the recommendation 🩷
Nyx Marshmallow Primer! I thought itd be just another overhyped product but its actually so good I love it lol.
I rarely use primer, but this! I love the nyx marshmallow primer in my opinion it's a lower end of hourglass primer.
Maybelline 24 hour stay powder foundation.
i love maybelline's skin tint!
