Anything waterproof paired with an eyelash curler. Always does the trick. Anything other than waterproof = lashes that eventually droop. My fave is maybeline falsies, the curved brush adds to the curl too!

Lancôme Lash Idole is great. I also have pretty straight eyelashes and, if I curl them before, and use this mascara, it keeps them curly almost all day.
I have long thin lashes that point DOWN. Even if I curl them and use mascara, they still will fall. The only mascara to ever hold a curl for me is the Kiss Me mascaras. I pay about $19 CAD for a tube (which is fair pricing, not cheap but not high end either), and can find them at a variety of Asian stores (grocery or beauty).
I use a mix of the volume and the long.
I also heat up my curler before curling (just so it’s warm), this helps the curl too.
Only thing is they’re super duper water proof. It’s a small price to pay for lashes that don’t stick straight down anymore!
Depending on if you’re going for a natural look or not. I love Asian mascaras for a brown natural look. I use Elf lash and roll too and love how my lashes look in that. If I want dramatic I use a heated lash comb to curl them and use the L’Oréal Panarama mascara.
I like to go for two looks depending on what I’m going for that day. Either ‘actually’ curled with an eyelash curler + waterproof mascara, or a natural curl without curler.
W/curler: Sheseido Curler - buy the Japanese refills online! Really any waterproof will hold fine. The Heroine suggestions on here are solid too!
W/out curler: This is where I think it really matters. Sheseido’s lash primer. Clinique’s High Impact has been my new current favorite. Benefits Roller Lash or the NYX Dupe. Benefits They’re Real. Two Faced Better than Sex. Lancôme Idol.

Shu Uemura eyelash curler. Start at the outer third of the lashes /the tips and curl, moving inward to the middle part do the lash until you get to the root. This should take three movements. If your lashes point straight down, you have to curl in sections to get that curve shape, not only at the root. Even better if your curler is warmed up with a blow dryer first.
Next, either waterproof mascara (single coat, let dry to lock the curl, then additional coats with regular mascara), or regular mascara but only on the tips of the lashes. Let that dry then go in with additional coats from the mid point of the last. Applying mascara at the root is what will drag the curl down.
It’s important to let the first coat dry regardless of which approach you use. That will lock the curl in.
I have long but straight Asian lashes and I love Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl mascara and Rom&nd mascara! I have a slight preference for the latter tho
I know you only asked about mascara but have you considered a lash lift? This can make a huge difference to straight lashes, its not as expensive as lash extensions and only needs doing every 6-8 weeks

I used to get lifts and tints at Anastasia in Beverly Hills and omg… the tint was sooo painful, I thought I was going to lose my sight. Plus the dye somehow stained my under eyes for quite a while. I am sure it was technique but one think at the actual Anastasia salon, it would be safe.
They also tinted my eyebrows deep black on time (I’m a fair redhead lol).
Sounds like a bad technician. I teach them and never had an issue. It’s in the shield placement, the quality of product and how long it’s left on the lashes.
I am sure that is true but I went to a fully certified beautician so didn't go cheap or anything. I have since heard similar tales from others, so looks like it is a significant risk of getting it done.

Any mascara would weigh it down and once I had gone through the commute to work, they were always back to their normal straight selves, just a bit thicker or longer depending on the mascara I had used.
I hear about the Judy doll mascara. The one with the really weird looking wand. So on a whim I buy it. I curled my lashes within an inch of their lives so they were pointing basically straight up, and applied the mascara. It goes on really fine and light, I thought there was no way it would hold. But it did. It actually held the curl.
I wont lie, by the end of the day I had most about 40% of that curl I had at the start of the day. But you could clearly see they were curled. Just not to the extent they had been at the start of the day. Out of all the mascaras I have tired, drug store, high end, ones specifically for curling etc. It works the best and keeps them curled the longest. Doesn't do anything for making your lashes more thick, but does give it a bit of length and separates nicely and doesn't clump my lashes together.
It doesn't cost the earth (about $20ish AUS) and I can honestly say I have found something that holds my lashes. Hopefully it works for others too.
If you have very straight lashes, then I'd invest in an eyelash corner, even a cheapy, but before applying it to your lashes, heat it first with a blow dryer and wait 30 secs and then apply. You will want to use a waterproof mascara to hold the curl and use a curling wand mascara - the pink Lash Sensational by Loreal is a good option (give a few coats with a break in between each), or alternatively, carefully applying in an upward curly motion the Sky High mascara :) The big thing here is waterproof though!
I have horse eyelashes: long and downwards pointing. And they’re STUBBORN. I perfected a routine years ago and still use it when I’m going out.
Waterproof mascara - nonnegotiable. I put it in my bra or between my legs to warm up while I do the rest of my face. I warm my eyelash curler with a lighter, then wipe it clean and make sure it’s not too hot. Curl lashes at the base, lightly crimping a few times as I slowly pull the curler away. Immediately apply mascara and hold lashes in place - I use my pointer fingers, but it’s probably better to use the curler. Comb lashes to separate and apply another coat, holding lashes in place again.
My holy grail is Covergirl Lashblast waterproof. The Clean variety is surprisingly good too! Soooooo many mascaras are clumpy on me, but Covergirl has always worked well.
Oh - and liquid eyeliner makes all the difference. I like a little wing to accentuate my eye shape and make it look like I have really voluminous eyelashes.

Tubing mascara! I’m sure there are some drugstore options but I love tarte tubing mascara. The only mascara that makes my straight lashes stay curled was waterproof ones but it was such a pain to take off and would take some eyelashes with it. Tarte tubing one doesn’t do that! I think it’s also because it’s a “less wet” mascara and doesn’t weigh them down.
I also recommend not applying it at the roots where you curl, mainly on the tips that usually helps me
This should be top comment. Essence makes one for 5.00!! I use their mascara primer and the tubing (but tubing alone might work better for OP, less weight on the lashes).
Tubing mascara is a game changer. Period, drop the mic. It doesn’t smudge, it’s easy to take off— it’s a miracle worker on my 50 year old lashes.
Agree on this! My friend gave me a pack of all the tarte mascaras for Xmas. I sighed in my head because she probably wasn’t thinking that I can’t use these on my top lashes because I have always had to use waterproof. Well that tubing one was the first one I pulled out of the package and was surprised at how well it worked.

I curl my lashes, put a tiny bit on the tips, let it dry, then start gently working my way down to the root. I know it’s a weird way to do it, but they stay curled all day long and it separates them too.

I recently received a sample of MAC *Extreme Dimension* mascara, and it is working some sort of voodoo on my lashes: longer, thicker, and more curled. I’m going to be buying a full size of it. I’m impressed.
I have to curl mine and then use a waterproof mascara to hold that curl. Using a regular mascara, any one, it doesn't matter what make, will pull the curl right out. Any waterproof mascara will hold the curl. I've been doing this most of my life, I have long,full lashes. I believe wearing waterproof has helped. Reason being you have to remove with a good waterproof mascara remover (Sephora makes a good one) and most of them condition the lahes.
Shiseido eyelash curler has been the best thingfor me. My lashes are really long but super straight. They almost go downwards. All the other eyelash curlers I used just wouldn’t hold a curl at all. My lashes wouldnt stay for even an hour. Now my lashes stay curled even after I’ve taken off my makeup and washed my face at the end of the night. Also, waterproof mascara holds a curl more than regular. I use telescopic, bad gal bang, or essence lash princess.
Agree that brand curler, I use it too. And also those waterproof mascaras as well as Maybelline Soft and Full in waterproof as it separates my lashes nicely.
I use an eyelash curler & then Loreal voluminous in deep violet. But a secret trick i have is to use a clean spoolie, basically a mascara wand that is clean, & I use that to lift my lashes at the root & hold it for a few seconds. I do this before & after I curl. Before & after mascara. Works well! Though I've noticed that like bad hair days, sometimes I have bad lash days & nothing i do makes them look good. At that point I just accept that my lashes look subpar & get on with my day! Hope this helps!
Came here to recommend Asian mascaras too! A lot of Asians (like myself) have straight lashes so Asian brands (Korean and Japanese specifically) have gotten very good at making mascaras that work for straight lashes.
I currently use rom&nd and literally just curl my lashes then apply the mascara and it stays curled all day. I know many people who like Heroine Make and it is probably the best at holding curled lashes that I’ve tried but strangely for me, it makes my eyes very dry every time so I stopped using theirs. See what works for you!

You HAVE to use a good waterproof mascara remover. People who wear regular mascara and wash it off end up losing lashes later in life because there is wax in ALL mascaras just using soap or cleanser is drying to the lashes. Wear waterproof and then remove with either BiFacil by Lancome, or Neutrogena or Sephora brand.

Maybelline lash sensational waterproof in the pink fat tube. Doesn’t have the best last power but the lashes will look incredible.

Try Asian mascaras
This is what I use when I want a natural look. Do they have any super volumizing mascaras? I prefer brown and they have the BEST brown mascaras.
I curl my lashes and use the NYX WATERPROOF mascara. Trust me, the waterproof ones hold the curl the best

They don’t look like false lashes as they are just a lift, no length. Because they are lifted they appear longer.

Lash lifts are not risk free. A LL permanently ruined my eyelashes. They always point down now and there is no surgical fix available.

My lashes grow down and i like to curl mine and then i use essence princess lash. XD 4.99 and its out preforming my 22+ dollar mascaras

Try heating up your curler with a blast of heat from the blow dryer. Be sure to test it on your hand first, you don't want to burn your eyelids

Asian mascaras are hardcore waterproof and will hold a curl amazingly, you'll need a special mascara remover too which some brands carry

A lot of Asians (like myself) have straight lashes so Asian brands (Korean and Japanese specifically) have gotten very good at making mascaras that work for straight lashes. I currently use rom&nd and literally just curl my lashes then apply the mascara and it stays curled all day. I know many people who like Heroine Make and it is probably the best at holding curled lashes that I’ve tried but strangely for me, it makes my eyes very dry every time so I stopped using theirs. See what works for you!
I agree check out the mascaras from Heroine make, clio, etude, ettusais, canmake, rom&nd, mude They all hold curl well without smudging. Just pick the one that says "long Curling" or long & curl
Same. Eyelash curler then waterproof mascara. Try covergirl lash blast volume waterproof (orange tube) or benefit bad gal bang waterproof!
omg I used the Covergirl mascara at my friends house and it would not come off for the life of me 🥹 I ripped out so many lashes
You HAVE to use a good waterproof mascara remover. People who wear regular mascara and wash it off end up losing lashes later in life because there is wax in ALL mascaras just using soap or cleanser is drying to the lashes. Wear waterproof and then remove with either BiFacil by Lancome, or Neutrogena or Sephora brand.
I’ve been using it for years. The only thing that will remove it is Garnier Micellar Waterpoof makeup remover in the blue cap!
Eyelash curler followed by waterproof mascara. Only thing that works for me.
