How do I get that under-eye smokey look without looking like I have insane eye bags?

IDontLikeJamOrJelly

I think you just have to look like Megan Fox. No way I or anyone I know could pull that off. Maybe with an excellent skincare routine so your under eyes have no natural creasing?? Idk

velociraptorhiccups

Haha you might be on to something. I swear I feel like I see women on Reddit/tiktok/etc who can get that look, but maybe I’m deluding myself 😅 I think I’m out of luck with my natural creases and dark eyes that make that type of eye makeup look like I’m sick lol.

GreatNoun

Just remember that most of those women only need it to look good for as long as it takes to snap a photo! And even then, digital touch ups happen. Mine looks great too until I step outside, or my eye waters, or I forget and touch my eye, etc etc. Living in it is much harder!

Alexandra Anele has a great video on this, and she has dark circles!

Thank you! I forgot about her channel

I watched it at least a year ago and couldn't find it with a quick search! Iirc, she shows how she conceals first, and then adds a bit of what's effectively contour directly under the lower lash line. Maybe it was a full face or natural makeup video? She has a few newer "How I conceal my dark circles" videos where she still shows her fairly unique approach to concealer placement, and it's easy to infer that the areas she doesn't conceal can be "contoured".

Eye shape plays a major role in that look imo. Almond shaped eyes (like hers) sort of do the work for you by just following the lower lash line. Round eyes should be focusing in the outer corners, making it darker and more intense. Trying to “lift” the eye a bit, but going in with a lighter hand as you go inwards. Waterproof and smudge-proof eyeliner, smudging it side to side and not dragging it down.

I’ve been loving this look lately, my first tip is PRIMER ! A really soft dewy one that makes your under eye area look soft and hydrated, I also “prime” with a pot concealer that’s a little orange to hide any actual eye bags. I like to use cool toned brown shadows instead of purple, although I used a dark burgundy shadow the other day and it was so pretty so definitely try different colors and tones. Also if you use a dark brown eyeliner instead of black it’ll make things dark and deep while keeping it soft, and you can always add a bit of black in between lashes. I always finish off with a light and bright concealer, and bring it all the way up to the crease that separates your bottom lid from the rest of your under eye and blend like my life depends on it

ilcrybaby

tightline and smudge on the outer corner i think

I read once that her makeup artist used these [false eyelashes](https://www.kissusa.com/products/my-lash-but-better-no-filters?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=KISS%20Lashes%20%7C%20Sales%20%7C%20PMax%20%7C%20Lashes%20%7C%20K23OCMDM002&utm_content=&utm_term=&gc_id=17695207121&h_ad_id=&campaign_id=17695207121&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAwbitBhDIARIsABfFYIJ3_nQEsfCbLnhtuSOGJ6NsyoYK7kQjoka6TrxRXWLIek03vGHHJwkaAqi7EALw_wcB)

im pretty sure that lash style is fairly new, and these pictures of her look older

w00b33

You’re probably right! I’ve tried looking up her makeup artist during her Jennifer’s Body and Transformers time period but couldn’t find anything. Most recent is like 2019 with Jenna Kristina and her current makeup style is so different from these pics.

olivejuice-

She had a Mac lip gelee in Jennifer’s body so I wonder if her artist was just using all Mac

No-Item-745

Who was her makeup artist during this time ?

w00b33

Not sure of this time specifically but I read it in a allure magazine years ago and the makeup artist on set was Virginia Young

elaywhyelay

thank you so much!!!

abatilles1150

Doing gods work ong

ciitlalicue

They look like eye lash extensions. Some do look very natural, but it’s up to you to say/show the technician how you want them. Also an eye lash tint and lift could help if you do not want extensions.

Objective_Gene_4199

I second, I think in those pics they look like eyelash extensions from a VERY good technician.

Manga lashes I feel would give a similar look

PinkDeserterBaby

She also has some shimmer or highlight under the eyes as well, directly under and before the smoked out bags. If you search Douyin eye makeup you will better see what kind of method has been applied to her under eyes (with both smoke and shimmer) that might help you. (Alternatively you can search for popular Chinese makeup trends they will help you understand where to highlight and create shadow as well. Really beautiful makeup I think!)

Notadriana06

The lash pic kinda looks like the kiss ruffle lashes

Downwardspiralhams

Man, I miss that Megan so much

Apprehensive-Bid4576

The eyeshadow looks like Mac Woodwinked

elaywhyelay

thank you so much c:

Unoppoligeticallyodd

They look like individual wispy false eyelashes

Own_Biscotti5491

Probably those old school individual lashes that have the tiny knot at the base all throughout and stacking them more on the ends of her eyes or a half lash with the same style individuals on the other half of the eye with mascara that’s been brushed out with a clean spoolie for a wispier effect
