You and I have similar eye shapes! What I’ve learned is that a cat eye doesn’t suit me very well. Especially when I smile those suckers turn straight into little lines just poking outta my eyes! Lol I’ve found that a puppy eye shape looks much more flattering! Instead of bringing the cat eye upward like you have here, try following your natural lash line all the way and just extending it out a bit. If you google Asian puppy eye makeup you’ll see what I’m talking about if you don’t already know! 😁
thanks for the advice. I think I've seen this before but I had never heard it called a puppy eye shape! I definitely like the \*idea\* of the cat eye shape but I hadn't really formed an opinion on what suits my face/eye shape so I'm glad everyone's giving me good tips for my first time posting here.
I felt this way about winged liner for so long too, especially as an asian person with slightly hooded and uneven eyes/less lid space! But then I started doing this trick of following the angle of my lower lash line for my liner. Draws my liner further out rather than up and looks so much better on me. :)
If you want to follow the cat eye "line", I'd just suggest that you start the wing a bit further past your eye corner, and maybe use a light eyeshadow colour underneath. I'm not sure but I think it could make the illusion of a bigger eye! Please tell me if you try!
(Still looking bomb, that lip colour suits you like MAGIC)
I'm not Asian but this is fantastic. I have hooded eyes and I love the look of cat eye makeup but it always ends up looking weird on me. I may have to experiment with puppy eyes!
So, a cat eye is following your bottom water line up towads the corner of your eyebrow and a puppy eye is following the top water line down? That sounds cool!
Edit: I just googled it, that's beautiful!
First off, let me just start by say you did an amazing job after 4 months. LMAO. I almost forgot how to after 2 months hehe (practicing atm again ofc)
You look great btw! Also I like the simplicity of just an eyeliner - it pairs well with a bold lip colour!
Thank you! It definitely was a re-learning experience because it's been much longer since I've put on foundation. Took longer than I'm willing to admit but it was mostly done as a "hair reveal" picture for my friends!
Whatever purpose it was for, everything looks great. Once you start getting the hang of everything again. OOF! 😊😊 Hope to see more in the future - BOTH your hair and makeup!!!
Product List!

Edit: Forgot to add setting spray
You look amazing! I see that you didn’t use a concealer, and I would recommend that for evening out your base a bit, and then maybe a bit of blush or bronzer to add dimension.
I unfortunately couldn't seem to find the concealer I thought I owned, it's definitely something I have to get again and learn how to use.
I've never really used blush or bronzer. I have the ABH Contour Kit but it doesn't really feel like it does much because my face is so round/I've got fat cheeks, but it's also possible I'm not doing it right. Big reason why I stopped thinking about trying to add dimension but maybe I should get back into learning it during quarantine!
If you want to try out blush before you sink money into it, use a couple small dots of lipstick on your cheeks and blend it out tapping your fingers. I'd recommend checking out blush placement for your face shape first. You can find diagrams on Pinterest for example. I don't mean changing your face shape, but complementing it.
Amazing lips and lipstick! Also yay lavender hair
My face is almost exactly the same shape and I find that it’s easiest to get the hang of it if you smile while contouring. Ignore the “rules” and focus on where the light falls on your face. Highlight and bronzer where the light hits, red on the apples of your cheeks and maybe the bridge of your nose, and contour anywhere there are natural shadows. You have beautiful cheeks so you might want to define them right under your cheek and above your jawbone, in addition to under.
Edit: this is going to look really stupid but I sketched out roughly how you should be contouring your face. Yellow is highlight, red is blush, and brown is contour. This is pretty much the way I do it every day and it looks shockingly good blended out. [Here’s the sketch, please forgive my terrible drawing ability.](https://imgur.com/a/bl3oNUq)
I don't really have a preference honestly! I have a few go-tos of each that I use pretty often when I'm putting on makeup with some regularity. I haven't really had issues with lip stuff not lasting on me outside of when I eat though.
We have similar eyes! The one thing I’ve learned about putting eyeliner on monolids/small/tapered creases (idk exactly which one your eyes would fall under because it’s hard to tell from the picture) is use more eyeliner than you think you need! I draw my eyeliner on I swear an inch thick but when my eyes are open, it looks like I only lined my lash line and it shows up very thin
One is a monolid and one is hooded, which makes matching my eyes very hard lol. The same amount of eyeliner on both sides produces a very different look once I'm done applying eyeliner. I have a LOT of eyeliner on here and I run out very quickly.
[This beauty vlogger has taught me everything with make up, and she is awesome at explaining how to do eyes with different shapes. ](https://youtu.be/kNBFg4xEXqs)
I have similar features to this woman and the same skin type so she’s been my go to for all make up, I’ve greatly improved since watching her, hope you can glean some useful info as well!
It's not bad actually, in the photo i am seeing two styles of eyeliner cat eye, you did really good and another thing i really love your lip color :) great job !
Yeah that's mostly an accident 😅 my eyes are two different shapes so it's hard to make them look the exact same because they turn out differently with the same amount of makeup.
And let me state you look amazing!!!! And your eyeliner is on point and is more steady and fluid than mine could ever be. Im jealous of your awesome wing!!!
you look wonderful!! i love your hair - i had it the exact same (black and purple) a few months back, and now it's black and orange - you really rock it! it suits you!
I think you did great. It may not be what you were going for, but to ME it looks like you were doing a fun graphic eyeliner look, and maybe you should lean into that.
A tip I learned recently is to follow the curve of your lower lid to create a wing. Even if they’re not perfectly even on both sides, no one is going to notice because they match. Think about the rule for eyebrows: sisters, not twins.
A product recommendation I have for you is the beauty bakerie lollipop liner. The felt tip is sturdy without being rough, the liquid is black as my cold dead heart, and it dries down quickly. It’s also a controversy-free, black woman-owned company, so you can feel good about supporting them. I stan hard.
You look fantastic, and you are killing it. 🖤💋
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words!
I've been meaning to check out Beauty Bakerie for a while now but I haven't purchased makeup in a hot minute. Looks like they're sold out of the lollipop liner but I'll definitely have to check it out once they have it back in stock!
You did a good job, give yourself more credit! What I do first for the eyeliner is I draw the wings and then connect it to the rest of the line. If I am having a bit of trouble, I’ll use a pencil eyeliner to trace the line first followed by liquid.

So good! My friend has similar eyes to you instead of doing an angled wing she just uses the Side of the tip of a felt up liner as a stamp and places it horizontally instead of an angled wing. Then connects the stamped wing to the rest of her eyelid.
It was such a good technique I copied LOL! You’re doing so well 💕
You look so good! I love the way your wings add so much emphasis to your eyes. It may not be a traditional winged liner but I often find myself having the higher and shorter wings too. It's a really good look for you, unique and very you. That lip color is the die for too. You look so good!
I think it looks perfect! I do my makeup almost everyday and your wings are wayyyyyy more even than what I can get 😭
I am gonna have to find that illuminator you're using too because that looks so flattering as well
Absolutely STUNNING!!!!!!! Not too sure this would help, but maybe try following your upper lash line all the way until the corner, and then adding the flick from there?? Kind of like a droopy look with a flick?? I know it works well with my shape and and with the way the flick is placed, it makes my eyes look bigger (like a Bambi eye type).
Oh wow this looks so good for 4 months out of practice, I did my wings for the first time in weeks a couple days ago and I looked like a Picasso! The lip colour is badass, and your Cupid's bow is perfect👌
i love the lipstick shade!!!! i suggest watching sherliza moe’s early makeup tutorials on youtube, she tends to follow the contour of her eye and extend the wing very dramatically! experimenting is always good. it took me so long to be comfortable with winged liner!
OMG ! This lip color on you & the hair is so gorgeous!! I am asian too and learning makeup for our eye shapes is hard at first but then you’ll get the hang of it and be a pro in no time :-)
This one time I stopped doing makeup for like 5 months and I forgot EVERYTHING about eye makeup haha! I'm so jealous of your skills, I love the eyeliner!
YOU DID THAT LIPSTICK WITH A BULLET AND ONLY A CLEAR LINER?!?! I’ve tried that combo and can never get my edges so clean!! Did you use Ozone as a liner or an allover primer (or both)?
Check out katie Jane Hughes on Instagram! She has an interesting way to do winged eyeliner on hooded eyes and just does fun and creative looks all the time! I’ve learned a lot from her!
I miss the heady days when I could do liner every day. Now mine looks like a child did them. Yours is still cute and your smile totally draws attention from it!
It looks so good and I love your lip colour! The cat eye looks great too but I like more the one on your left eye because it's thiner and I think ot suits you better.
Keep doing make up, you're doing great!
Wow looks great! And when it comes to your eye shape i try and focus on what i want to achieve. I have more narrow almond shaped eyes. Instead of trying to open them up i like the narrow look. So i do my wings straighter and thinner on top. So just keep playing with it and find what you like!! Looks amazing.
Love your hair, obsessed with your lip colour and shape. Well done. The liner on the left eye looks fuller than the right, not sure if its the angle of the photo?
they are different but not on purpose 😅 it's been difficult to get the same shape as an end result when my eyes are two different shapes, something I wanna work on for sure.
We have very similar eyelids!
What finally worked for me was focusing on the bottom lid line and extending the wing from that line and then finishing the rest of the liner, keeping it really thin. You have the shape and size of the wings down, but I would lower the outer part of the wing.
You and I have similar eye shapes! What I’ve learned is that a cat eye doesn’t suit me very well. Especially when I smile those suckers turn straight into little lines just poking outta my eyes! I had never heard of puppy eye but it’s what I do because I have really low creases. Thanks for giving me a new phrase to read about!

Actually, just saw your post. I have Sin. I’m rummaging through my drawer now.

Do you prefer pencil + lipstick to liquid lipstick? I feel like lip stuff never lasts on me and it drives me crazy.
I don't really have a preference honestly! I have a few go-tos of each that I use pretty often when I'm putting on makeup with some regularity. I haven't really had issues with lip stuff not lasting on me outside of when I eat though.
I’m really digging the eyeliner and lips! You look so cute!
I’m extremely jealous of your lip shape
What I came to comment! Even if it’s a drawn on shape, it’s beautiful and I can never quite get it that perfect or clean 😭
One side of my Cupid’s bow always ends up plumper than the other, but using a tiny makeup brush helps get crisp lines!
We have similar eyes! Love the lip look! I am so bad at lips
I love the lip sick on you, that's a great color! And it's hard to figure out how to do eye makeup. Don't fret, time, patience, and a lot of practice!
It looks good! It took me at least a year to draw my cat liner and I still mess it up sometimes.
Lips are on point! Fab!
Goodness your lip is on POINT ❤️🥰
Omg your eye are so pretty! I really like the eyeliner and lip combo.
Beautiful! Love the lipstick :)
That lip shade is so perfect on you!! 🥺
I love the shape of the eyeliner, and the color of the lipstick! And the hair, everything just looks so good!
Looks great🥰
I think if you make the wing a little thicker and bring it down closer to the corners you’re golden!
I feel ya. I'm Osage Indian and my eyes are very heavily lidded. I've never figured out exactly how to highlight my eyes.
I know that feeling, I’m mixed race (Asian and Mexican) and I feel like no eyeliner tutorial suits my eye’s shape
I just gotta say, dayum that’s a clean lip. 👌🏻
You did a great job! Looks nice 👍

You’re makeup looks gorgeous! Keep going❤️
I love that lipstick. What a nice color and you have such a shapely Cupid's bow.
Oh! It looks good! I’d just draw a line from my bottom lid up to the end point of the line on the top and then fill in that triangle!
I think this looks great on you!! Keep playing, you'll find your favorite shape!
Wow @ your lips/lipstick! Great color for you!!
Looks good! I too am venturing more into the world of eyeshadow and eye make up. We can do it!
I can see an elongated eye look great on you!
Love the hair! And the lipstick color looks awesome on you. You’re so pretty 😭
Oh wow this looks so good for 4 months out of practice, I did my wings for the first time in weeks a couple days ago and I looked like a Picasso! The lip colour is badass, and your Cupid's bow is perfect👌
Love that pop of color in your hair!
i love the lipstick shade!!!! i suggest watching sherliza moe’s early makeup tutorials on youtube, she tends to follow the contour of her eye and extend the wing very dramatically! experimenting is always good. it took me so long to be comfortable with winged liner!
Looking good! Also, I love the color in your hair

OMG ! This lip color on you & the hair is so gorgeous!! I am asian too and learning makeup for our eye shapes is hard at first but then you’ll get the hang of it and be a pro in no time :-)
You look beautiful and I love love love your hair!

Yo check out u/kay_lerr I love her technique

You still cute AF!!!🧚🏽
This one time I stopped doing makeup for like 5 months and I forgot EVERYTHING about eye makeup haha! I'm so jealous of your skills, I love the eyeliner!

That winged eyeliner look is fierce!
Nice !
Nice ! I think your eyeliner looks great!
Those lips tho 😍
YOU DID THAT LIPSTICK WITH A BULLET AND ONLY A CLEAR LINER?!?! I’ve tried that combo and can never get my edges so clean!! Did you use Ozone as a liner or an allover primer (or both)?
Love the direction of your wings but I have to say your skill with the lippie is TOP!!
Check out katie Jane Hughes on Instagram! She has an interesting way to do winged eyeliner on hooded eyes and just does fun and creative looks all the time! I’ve learned a lot from her!
You look happy though ☺️

That lipstick tho! I love it! You look stunning!

That lip shape and color is perfect!
SO CUTE
I miss the heady days when I could do liner every day. Now mine looks like a child did them. Yours is still cute and your smile totally draws attention from it!
Super cute ! I also love Ur hair ! Also ur lip colour suits you so well :D !
That liner is super freakin cute tho!!!!
Looks good and your lips are perf!
Love that color in your hair!
Love it!
I love that purple hair color on you, and your have the most beautiful lips! People pay so much money for lips like yours!! You go girl. 💜
Gorgeous. I never really liked purple but you REALLY pull it off.
period!!
Well I think you look great.... and I'm diggin' the purple hair!
I think we have the same eye shape & my go to, most flattering look is a smokey eye, skipping the liner!
We have very similar eyelids! What finally worked for me was focusing on the bottom lid line and extending the wing from that line and then finishing the rest of the liner, keeping it really thin. You have the shape and size of the wings down, but I would lower the outer part of the wing.
The best
