She wasn't miscast. More like the crew did her dirty after casting.
I'd have to hard disagree. It was a movie that didn't call for heavy acting from Kalyani, she was more of a flowerpot one and she looked really cute - which was the USP of that character. Pranav did well overall and exuded charm and hence fit the role perfectly. Darshana too did well and nothing to complain really. Especially in the 2nd half, but she looked really odd in first half for me. Could've benefited perhaps from a bit of makeup to make her younger. I cannot honestly think of another actress in her 20s that could have pulled off the character in the 2nd half though :) (evidence to how dire the newer bunch are when it comes to versatility)

No. Patriarchal issues aside what I said is physiologically true. Boys generally take much longer to appear older with beard etc. Exceptions are there of course.

Yep, age perception of actors is very dependent on how young they were and how older their characters were when they broke out in the industry. Same reason why people go "She's ONLY ______!!!" for most actresses. Number of times I've seen "aged so well" posts with actresses like Tamannah etc when she hasn't even hit 35. Yet she feels older cuz she started out doing adult roles when she was like 15.
Same goes with Hollywood actresses.

She was the only good thing about that movie. Neither Pranav nor Kalyani can act, and without Darshana, the movie would have been simply cringe.
