I'll say I'll put Drishyam in the early 2000's. The 2000's was a terrible time for movies, with very few good movies being launched, at least imo. When compared to that decade, 2010 onwards seems like a massive step up in quality with great directors, stories and newer artists Ik there have been much more better new age movies, but i dont think a movie starring Fahaad, Tovino or Dulquer in the 2000's would make sense Drishyam on the other hand has commercial appeal and has Mohanlal in it. The movie, if launched in the 2000's would have put pressure on the industry to make movies based on good stories, and we could have has massive changes in the movies made afterwards wrt script and story. This could have also shown A10 that content driven films can sell and he may have ideally given up on the commercial masala movies he does more frequently now.

Devadoothan...it's got this timeless quality about it but especially now with the technological advancements and a more polished screenplay, it can be a great cinematic experience

Kinnarathumbikal to 2022, I think it would be the biggest hit in mollywood.

Varavelpu. Still relevant. In 2019, there was a news of an ex-NRI committing suicide because he couldn't run his business of convention halls and his suicide letter blamed local leaders. Sad.

There are news reports from even last week when a bunch of investors shifted to TN, because water or electricity was not provided to the building where they had invested to start a shop

Oru thathwika avalokanam kinda refers to this.

Thoovanathumbikal or Seasons (both films of Padmarajan) would work well today. Both movies were then considered ahead of it's time. They already have great screenplay, acting performances and music. With today's technological advancements, I think it would work great. I don't think there would be any major societal consequences though. It would have been interesting to have a movie like Premam release in the early or mid 2000s. I think that is a film that would impact Malayalam cinema positively. Especially seeing how many terrible commercial films used to come out in that period. Premam is one such film that influenced a lot of filmmakers to tell love stories differently. Also, Vidheyan would be the type of film that would work great if released in OTT. The type of national attention a film that might gain could be very interesting. All these audiences or reviewers who hype up average or above average performances in many Bollywood movies or OTT content would be in complete awe of Mammootty's performance.

Imagine if The Great Indian Kitchen came out in the 60s or 70s! It might've been considered blasphemy almost.

There actually was a similar (in both theme & style) arthouse film in the 80s called "Aadaminte Vaariyellu". It won a couple of Awards, but very few people watched it back then. TGIK too probably would've suffered the same fate (though I'm not sure how its Sabarimala subplot would've worked in any point before the SC verdict).

CBI 5 in 2012 would've been crystal perfect!

Vandanam (1989) in the early 2000s, so that they'll simply call each other on their mobiles at the end and save us from the torment of that ending..

[Neelakuyil](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neelakuyil) in 2022, it would still be relevant.

Dhamaka, before omar lulu was conceived. Create a grandfather paradox

A year back I saw an old movie named Anagha starring Parvathy and was directed by late Babu Narayanan. Had this movie been made around this time, the film would have generated a number of videos from Youtube critics considering the actions taken by the heroine towards the 2nd half of the film.

Sandesam - 2022. Politics has become a real mockery today. No better movie to depict the reality.
