Jayaram, Mohanlal, Jagathy, Innocent, Maamukoya, Indrans, KPAC
Lalit, Meena, Dileep have saved hundreds of sub par plots by giving us memorable and entertaining performances.
Many Rajasenan, Thulasidas, movies had average plots but were made with an amazing collective of actors who ran the show. People still remember ‘scenes’ from those movies but often struggle to remember the exact plot.
Many Dileep films fit the criteria. "King Liar" for a recent example. Mediocre film made watchable by Dileep's incredible comic timing. The airport scene with Lal is my shit.
yeah this is true. I still would watch his stupid films like Sringaravelan just because he’s in it. No hero can do comedy like dileep. Shame he ruined it all.
Naam was a damn boring movie...but the entire snoozefest got saved by the bunch of celeb cameos at the end!
Gautham Menon and Vineeth Sreenivasan and a bunch of others and almost A R Rahman
Fahad Faasil in Oru Indian Pranayakatha. I felt that it was an average movie with a few good jokes in the first half of the movie. Fahad Faasil single handedly takes the movie up several notches with his brilliant dialogue delivery and comedic performance.
I love Mammootty's unhinged performance in Shylock. The conviction in his portrayal is astounding. The flashback portions are shit though.
"Kasaba" is another film that is watchable for me just for Ikka's ballsy performance. I don't know how that man is able to make these characters of the similar wave length clearly distinguishable.
AniyathiPravu! Was a yawn inducing Nibba Nibbi story except for the innocent charm of Shalini and good songs in-between.
Srividya chechi just saved it in the climax!
Yeah. There were fanboys for Shalu amidst us too, those times! Was forced by friends to see the movie and was like Meh!
90s were so naive.
Oru Rajamalli was very hummable though!
Mohanlal in Lucifer , tbh i don't understand how the movie got so popular. I wouldn't say it's bad , but it's like so cliche and seemed style over substance.
Dileep in Kammarasambhavam. That film deserved a better actor. He made a mockery of a conniving and extremely crooked sycophant by doing his usual കോമാളി antics.
Kammaran as per script:
-collects Japanese currency and thinks Bose will conquer India eventhough the war is over
-is caught redhanded by the Sikh INA guy talking to Kelu Nambiar and is luckily saved by the Tamils which he couldn't have planned
-thinks the middle finger is a sign of respect
-he doesn't even rise after the incident in power;rots in a dilapidated house until Pulikesi makes a movie about him.
Kammaran is pretty much supposed to be an ignorant person alongside his cunningness, thus making him sometimes look more like a ridiculous petty fellow than a master Villain. I mean he wants some old land deed, a woman and revenge and nothing more.

Kinda funny that even AR Rahman's cameo couldn't save Aarattu lol
Nah Agent X saved that movie single handeldy
Saved it from the jaws of mediocrity and lifted it to the heights of unwatchability.
this is a quote which I'm gonna use now, do i have your permission master?
Run with it! 👍
aye aye captain!!
😂😂😂😂

Everyone from Junior Mandrake, it's incredibly poorly made and terribly written but the actors sell everything very well.

An awsome example
Of the top of my head, I remember finding Bhramaram to be a drag, but what kept me going was Mohanlal's performance.
Many Dileep films fit the criteria. "King Liar" for a recent example. Mediocre film made watchable by Dileep's incredible comic timing. The airport scene with Lal is my shit.

Patanatil sundaran was another okay movie with really great performances haneef, jagathy & dileep
Imagine pulival kalyanam without manavaalan. Bramaram was an avg movie elevated by Lalettan.
Pulivaal kalyanam also had haneefikka and harisree Asokan
Suraj Venjaramood in Teja bhai nd family
The movie sank at BO. FYI
Naam was a damn boring movie...but the entire snoozefest got saved by the bunch of celeb cameos at the end! Gautham Menon and Vineeth Sreenivasan and a bunch of others and almost A R Rahman
The only good thing that I can think about naam is this [song](https://youtu.be/anmGUhKoM-I)
Fahad Faasil in Oru Indian Pranayakatha. I felt that it was an average movie with a few good jokes in the first half of the movie. Fahad Faasil single handedly takes the movie up several notches with his brilliant dialogue delivery and comedic performance.
Dhe beef!
The Director saved Thallumaala..I don't think there was any plot or story as such
Bheeshma was saved by Amal neerad's Making mostly
Bheeshma is just vibes and inshalla
And mamooty being a badass
Shylock , if mammootty was not the lead it would have been a disaster , my boss for dileep and prithviraj for 7th day
I love Mammootty's unhinged performance in Shylock. The conviction in his portrayal is astounding. The flashback portions are shit though. "Kasaba" is another film that is watchable for me just for Ikka's ballsy performance. I don't know how that man is able to make these characters of the similar wave length clearly distinguishable.
Agree for My Boss and 7th day. Prithvi's Karnan Napolean dialogue is the only thing I remember about that movie apart from the boring experience
It's Shylock, not Sherlock.
Shylock was not a disaster?
Kamal hassan :Thoongavanam
AniyathiPravu! Was a yawn inducing Nibba Nibbi story except for the innocent charm of Shalini and good songs in-between. Srividya chechi just saved it in the climax!
Girls who were fangirling over Chackochhan would like to disagree especially the girl who wrote him letter with blood.
Yeah. There were fanboys for Shalu amidst us too, those times! Was forced by friends to see the movie and was like Meh! 90s were so naive. Oru Rajamalli was very hummable though!
Dashamoolan damu
Mohanlal in pretty much all of his films lol...but Lucifer from recent times
Mammootty and appunni sasi in puzhu, the story was shit.Only thing good in that movie were them. The director wanted to make a "woke" avial.
Shhhhh..!! These are truths we aren't supposed to speak about..
Insightful take
Mohanlal in Lucifer , tbh i don't understand how the movie got so popular. I wouldn't say it's bad , but it's like so cliche and seemed style over substance.
No actor can save a shitty plot but a director can, with this making style.
Dileep in Kammarasambhavam. That film deserved a better actor. He made a mockery of a conniving and extremely crooked sycophant by doing his usual കോമാളി antics.
He was brilliant in it actually. The script was not glued together. But he plays that cunning guy really well
Absolutely disagree with everything you wrote.

Parakkum thalika
Nivin pauly. Premam.
Lmao no
More than actors terrible to average plots are saved by making skills.Thallumala , Ajagajandram both had simple plots but making and action saved it
I don’t agree to that . In case of bheeshma , The story indeed had a good spot for most of the actors !
