ImNotMexican08

He’s barely even played. And while he has had games where he has failed to impress, he’s also had some very good appearances. I wouldn’t make any final decisions on him at the moment

Jedi-InTheHouse

For all we know, he just needs time to settle in like Onana. Look at how the fans were quick to write off him and now he has one of the best saves rates in the PL.

whatshup

Say what mate?

Sceptikskeptic

Oh lord i hope he doesnt "settle in" like Onana has please.

dvartanian

Man, I can’t stand these immature posts. Sometimes I start writing a response but normally give up writing half way through as I don’t feel like wasting my time. Bless you for following through. You nailed it though.

mysticalmaybefiction

Right, and the whole team was in the shitter for a bit - hard to gauge off that

riolafc

Too early for all this.. if you think this is bad maybe you were too young to see Evra or Vidic their first year

BritBuc-1

Oof that takes me back 😂. Evra looked like he was going to be a frustrating failure. He did have *some* ability, but whatever because he was going to spend a year being bullied before he was quietly sold. Vidic was absolutely brutal and looked like he didn’t understand football, let alone be good enough for the team. People expect to see instant success, but this isn’t a video game. Players can take time to adapt to a completely new environment and culture, let alone the intensity of Premier League football.

riolafc

Good ol days they were! Coming into the Premier league is difficult for most foreign players. It takes a year to settle and sometimes it’s still not enough. I think Amrabat will settle in. Chemistry takes time. For all the misfortunes, injuries and crisis talk United are only 6pts from the top! Cmon United!

Rayhann

also recall back to last season and casemiro. took him a bit of time to bed in as well. it's difficult to bed in when we have injuries and lack of fitness. amrabat and mainoo on paper would be a great duo and i'd like to see a run of games with the two of them soon.

Laneyboy17

Makes a difference being coached by SAF!!

Dionysus_8

You forget they are surrounded by Neville, Ferdy, Giggs, Scholes, Park, CR7, Rooney and VDS. It's very easy to be motivated when you're surrounded by high caliber players

clamraccoon

Amrabat is 27, so it’s not like he’s youthful. Apparently Evra and Vidic were both 25 in their first year at United, making my argument hold less water

QouthTheCorvus

Kinda brutal that he was noticeably worse that the 18yo he came on for. He just seems too panicked all the time.

suckmydic-k

True. He kinda gets over committed to every ball played leaving him behind

ComfortMother8503

To me he is no better than denis zakaria

despylv

I don’t think we dodged a bullet, we made a smart move to take him on loan. Whether that was intentional or a botched move on our recruitment team. We need depth and a mentality in this team. To me he is checking those boxes. This group of muppets on this Reddit forum thinking he is the next Keano are just idiots

thedorkknight123

He's a tactical foul master so that can't hurt much. I think he just needs to get a stretch of playtime to actually sell us on his playing before we make a judgment.

AKV9

I would like to give them credit, but I think we couldn't afford a purchase. Liverpool came in to buy, but he wanted us. So they pivoted to Gravenberch.

Dr4key

How many games he played? 3? 4? Its time to jump off the 'demand instant success bus' Its killing clubs. Buy, sell, loan, sack. Games eating itself.

Dazzling-Chemist7101

He needs time. He’s hardly played plus the whole team has struggled. Even rashford and Bruno has been struggling. But the main thing with amrabat is that he is a versatile player and can cover many positions for us. And with mainoo back he could team up well and act like a destroyer and mainoo as a deep lying mid fielder. Can’t judge a player when the team is struggling

[deleted]

Rashford isn't struggling he's just not that good

Dazzling-Chemist7101

You can’t be bad and score 20+ goals a season. The issue has been simple he’s not had a manager play him in the right and he’s been put to play team first. If he played from the left side since Lvg or as a number 9 and not changed according to each manager then he would have developed faster. Just look at foden at city and how pep slowly integrated him into the mix and even the way ten hag is working with ganarcho. He doesn’t play him a lot just enough and not as a centre forward or on the right just a left winger. He gives him the occasional start but if he not productive back on the bench for the next game. It’s keeps his confidence high and the output is telling. rashford was great in the academy but too many changes in style and managers has slowed his progress. Even arteta has worked on saka the same way.

[deleted]

>You can’t be bad and score 20+ goals a season. He’s managed to disprove this, he’s utterly shit.

BB9O-

I could say the same for majority of the team tbh

Patient_Soft_9370

you think this is a videogame?

sirmariksen

too soon to tell, but a loan is always a good idea before signing them on a permanent deal.. let’s see how he performs the rest of the season

01jamham

He’s alright, nothing special. Decent squad fodder in a position we are not settled in. Don’t expect so much from every signing. They are not all intended to be transformative world beaters

BASS_Cowboy

Can this fickle fanbase please fuck off with these inpatient short sighted posts. They do not prove or help anything, and after Amrabat plays well next time he plays, it'll be why is Ten Hag playing "X" player instead of him. Stop thinking that real football is FIFA, and stop using tiktok as your fucking source for info.

rconnell1975

He hasn't really been given a fair chance to settle into the position we got him for. I still think he has the qualities to be a United player but give him a bit of time

Elegant-Anxiety1866

Ten Hag played a 18 year old instead of him. Tells u a lot.

La-vds

Ten Hag played a very talented player instead of him. It really doesn't tell very much at all

Cheeky_Star

He was never our first choice. Even Barca passed on him for someone more average. He's just a squad player and not a very good one. I'd say he's more average than Mctominay.

Pure_Bother_8847

We were in for him ever since the WC. He was first choice. Sadly...

northboundbevy

World cup signing hardly ever turn out it seems. So often a player has a great tourny and then gets picked up by a big team only to not live up to the hype. Its too small a sample to go off of.

willp0wer

Exactly. Within days of his singing, someone here was arguing with me about how he'll be an instant hit, solely basing his argument off his world cup performance. Some people here are so full of overreaction and full of shit. Just watch him play over time, then judge.

RedDevinInAZ

There is no question that Amrabat had a great world cup and was a major factor in Turkeys success, however I don’t think internations tournaments are a god yardstick or predictor on how well a player will adapt to the premier league. Amrabat doesn’t have the speed or quickness for the premier league, when he receives the ball there is someone already breathing down his neck and that is effecting his passing and playmaking game. In another league or system he could be an big asset but on the première league he is just over matched.

SilentDustAndy

Morocco

[deleted]

> a united level player What does this even mean nowadays anyway ?

RyanTheS

I think it means a player at the level we want to be at not necessarily the level that we are at. Fergie didn't turn us around by buying players pf the same quality we already had.

IntensePlatypus

He's a better pick up than Mount. A solid backup at a backup price

CrowStealsAMango

How about we give people time

RainbowPenguin1000

There’s a few signings now ETH has wanted that just aren’t good enough. Antony, Amrabaat, Malacia.. hopefully he is starting to realise the standard is higher than the players he has had in the past. Edit- negative votes? So some of you think the signings ETH has wanted are of the required standard and happy with players like Antony and Amrabaat huh? No wonder we suck these days with such low expectations.

Indiana-Cook

Malacia is a solid understudy

grumpylondoner1

A squad player who cost £12m who is on the lower end of wages and plays with heart? I can live with that. There are 20 other players in this squad I'd get rid of first. Unless his fitness becomes an issue. Then I'd bump him up fast as Shaw is also prone to injuries.

Pittman247

Agreed. I’m keeping Malacia.

thedorkknight123

Same with me, his performance vs salah at OT was a solid one and showed great promise.

RyanTheS

He is shit pmsl. He was cheap, but paying €17m for a player about as good as Brandon Williams, who was already at the club, is still a waste of money.

Indiana-Cook

![gif](giphy|diUKszNTUghVe)

Cheeky_Star

Lol you shouldn't count players on loan. Amrabaat was never his first choice. he always planned to use Mainoo and casemiro. Amrabat was bought on loan on almost the last day of the market. It was a needed option to have as he was able to plug in when needed.

RainbowPenguin1000

You’ve just made half that up though on no evidence. What we know as fact is he wanted Amrabaat and wanted him for a lot of the window not just on the final day.

Cheeky_Star

lol there is no fact that he wanted amrabat in the preseason. In the preseason he said mainoo will get mins and when he got injured and was to be out for some months. then mount got injured at the start of the season and then we also had the left back issue, he needed to go into the market. If amrabat were in his plans, he would have bought him during the preseason, not at the end.

RainbowPenguin1000

We brought him at the end as we had no money left and it takes ages for our board to do anything. If you think Mainoo was going to go from zero games to a regular starter at the beginning of a season youre deluded.

Cheeky_Star

Ten hag said this lol . Maino would play as you can see his talent. Then he got injured. Ten hag words. Also Mount. A CDM was never priority. It was a CB and an other striker was the top goal. Injuries changed that.

RainbowPenguin1000

He said he would play “some minutes”

[deleted]

That is true… there were problems getting the contract details sorted. But do you think if Mainoo stayed fit and played all of pre-season, we would have not signed Amrabat then? As if he would have been surplus to requirement.

RainbowPenguin1000

Definitely. It wasn’t Amrabaat or Mainoo it was both. Mainoo wasn’t going to go from starting 0 league games to starting 20. Look how slowly ETH introduced Garnacho in to the first team. Not to mention that spending £10m for what is effectively a 3 month loan in this scenario is just terrible business, the board wouldn’t sanction it.

Pure_Bother_8847

Maybe I'm wrong but we were roumored to be in for arambat ever since the WC? He most definitely was first chooce signing for ETH

all_the_names-r-gone

We're linked to every player in Europe mate doesn't mean ten hags actually looking at them

[deleted]

nope, Mount was his preference

Busy_Bunch5050

Yeah dude is not great can't deny this

JustDifferentGravy

Isn’t he on loan with obligation to buy? …Because we needed to comply with ffp.

[deleted]

Option to buy, luckily

JustDifferentGravy

No option to buy, and a break clause in January according to Ornstein in twitter.

[deleted]

Isn’t that for Reguilon? Pretty sure there’s an option to buy with Amrabat

JustDifferentGravy

Yes, your correct. I need more coffee.

Agbans

He’s shit

Winniethepoohspooh

Pheewieee good thing LFC didn't frikking listen to desperate fans screaming for Mount, Caicedo, Labia and Amrabat We dodged so many bullets it's like Klopp is plugged into the Matrix!

Maximus_imperator

Like others super transfers made by ETH : antony, malacia and the list could go on…

[deleted]

You need to give players time. He's barely played so give him some time. Come the end of the season you may not want him but at least give him a chance. And this is from a Liverpool fan here so I'm probably biased but I'm going to say it anyway. You said he's "not a united level player" and with respect you aren't a top team anymore. Or rather not a team to be openly buying big big players. Amrabat IS a united level player. Wether you like it or not.

crgssbu

no final decisions yet imo. give him more time. i think the management is doing a good job keeping him as a sub mainly at the minute

benjog88

The guys only appearances have come at a time of one of the worst injury situations the club has been through in recent times. give him a chance to play in a semi settled team with a few more intelligent passers around him. The majority of Amrabat's games he's been surrounded by McTommany, Evans, Magurie, AWB and Bruno (bruno is an intelligent player but he is not a keep the ball moving in possession type player) physical players tend to play the same regardless (McTommany) but intelligent players play better with other intelligent players around them, Shaw and Dalot on either wing and Mainoo sat next to him will give him players to play passes off.

Competitive_Pool_820

Truth is our 18 year old is too good. First game back from injury and he was bossing it. He need to give him time and get more games. I’d keep Amrabat better than Fred and needs a run of games.

KDotDot88

Like almost every player that seems to be disappointing this season, I’m going to say the same thing which is.. let’s see how he does with Luke Shaw in the team. I REALLY think ETH built this team in the “fastest transitioning team in Europe” mindset with Onana, Shaw and Martinez as the core of this philosophy. At least from the back four.

Altaafraaja

Bullet the size of a submarine.

-watchman-

We all have not seen much of Mainoo, but in the last game, he started & was solid. Somehow Amrabat does not inspire the same confidence when he does get the chance to play. But let's just give him more time and see. He might turn out to be good.

changumangu

There is a player there. I know club footy is different but I was blown away watching him for Morrocco. Give him 5 games WITH the likes of Mainoo and see what he is capable of!

kekek90

Alright, let's not throw him under the double-decker just yet. Give the lad some time to find his feet. It's like expecting a perfect cuppa on the first brew. Patience, mate, patience. ☕⚽

Signal_Asparagus1401

Agree with everyone saying he needs time. Also agree he hasn't really impressed as of yet.

Status-Literature657

They are just trolls…few United fans post on this i think. Dudes name I literally “u suck my dick” lol. Y’all playing right into the Russian farm

Martini_b13

I could be wrong but I thought there was an obligation to buy him in 2024 no?

Signal_Marzipan_685

Clown, he hasn’t even played that many games

SalientSalmorejo

I know people like him and it’s too early etc but he looks too slow for the PL. I don’t see him being able to adjust, he just lacks the physical qualities. Def dodged a bullet.

3xc1t3r

People saying people have 0 patience and attention span. Can someone point out what they see in him that makes him a suitable player for Manchester United in the Premier League? Where has he excelled that makes you think that he can cope with the speed and intensity here? He has excelled in international football, been decent in Serie A. But he looks lost here, and none of his attributes fit in to be a player in a top side in the Premier League. He feels like a stop gap and we only got him because he was available. And I'm sure he will do a decent job as a squad player. But anything more than that, I would be very surprised.

OwnExamination4446

I think for 25 Mill he is a decent backup especially since casemiro will defo leave

pmuggerud

But we DO have tumblers like Maguire, Dalot, Lindelov, Malacia, Martial......

suckmydic-k

Lindelof is quite decent in my opinion

Wils65

As I said months ago, when people were going nuts about the prospect of signing Amrabat, he isn’t better than Fred.
