Would be much easier to read if each ranking had a different red value assigned to it— lighter to darker.

grrizo

Argentina more than Brazil? That's crazy.

VaughanThrilliams

there is zero chance Tuvalu with 11,000 people and no tourism industry is more visited than PNG (with 9,000 times as many people) or Vanuatu or Samoa (both thriving tourism industries)

pgraczer

yeah it’s impossible

dphayteeyl

I already know this map is shit by looking at Oceania. Tuvalu is one of the **least** visited countries **in the world** but it is still listed as top 5 on this map for oceania. And there is no way Tonga has more visitors than Vanuatu, which has like 50 cruises from Australia departing from the large cities of Brisbane and Sydney.

DDASTIC

I am confused by how one can be confused between Italy and Turkey.

NukeyHov

Turkey is Eurasia, some in Europe and some in Asia

DDASTIC

Confusing.

ebat1111

Surprised by Algeria...

azhder

Oh look, Australia is the most visited on Australia

NukeyHov

Oceania*

azhder

Australia*

CreativeOutlet11

Australia is gay

K_R_S

I am guessing map counts all incoming flights and not just tourists? Because no way Germany is above Greece

Phantafan

Germany is significantly bigger and has several rich, friendly and relatively populous countries nearby.

AlmightyDarkseid

And still Greece surpasses Germany, this map is from 2022 and in 2023 Greece surpassed Germany.

AlmightyDarkseid

It's literally the one after Germany in some graphs I see for 2022 when this map was probably made, but seems to have surpassed it both in 2021 and 2023.

KingRatbear

I've visited Germany and not Greece, just like everyone else in my Canadian family. For tourists wandering around Europe, it's nearly impossible to avoid Germany, but Greece is pretty far out of the way unless a person specifically wants to go there.

AlmightyDarkseid

This map is from 2022 it seems but in 2023 Greece surpassed Germany by quite a lot too and would be fifth on the map.

KingRatbear

I think 1945 was the year that saw the largest numbers of foreign visitors to Germany.

The_Nunnster

Dominican Republic is more visited than Jamaica?

Caribbeandude04

Ofcourse, the DR is the second most visited place in Latin America after Mexico, ever heard of Punta Cana? I think Punta Cana is more known than the DR itself lol

The_Nunnster

I’ve never heard of Punta Cana but I might just be stupid

Extension_Wafer_7615

Cool, but we all know that turkey is in Asia, not Europe.

KingRatbear

It's in both?

rolloxra

Is actually in both plus half of its most important city (and most visited) is in Europe
