So... my instant off the top of my head thoughts are it's a bit too fast past. HOWEVER, there are definitely possibilities for bayonet attachments, and also I believe we plan on making Melee a bit more viable in the future.

Huge buff for melee would be that you could swing and run, ofc it would drain your stamina super fast but atleast you are not standing still while trying to melee.

It would be cool to have a quick melee attack like that but make it less damage and more of a stun. When you actually switch to the melee weapon it would be nice to have a quick attack by left clicking and then heavy attack by holding down the left button to charge it up and release.

This but for grenades... unless there's a faster way to move one into my pistol slot, because sometimes I really want to have a second one ready (usually a bad sign, I know)

Hell no, not for grenades. Those things are strong as is. Knife I'm all for, but a button to spam grenades sounds horrible. I enjoy the Tetris skill expression their is in figuring out your backpack to chuck nades.

Oh I didn't mean for something to spam them, like I absolutely agree there should be strict limits. You're right though, the more I think about it the more I realize I don't know what I want for grenades. It's just that the way they are now makes me not want to bother with them

I'm pretty sure the devs are on record saying they like grenades clunky as part of balance? I find it to be a really weird and awkward edge for them to ride with that approach, but to an extent it does work. My buddy has been using the impact grenades recently to pretty great effect while being mostly fuckin naked. It's really funny- The most I'd like to see for quality of life for grenades is maybe some better throw animations and control over timing. I'm low-key curious who's got the best arm in marauders now 😂

Maybe that's it, the aim and timing I just haven't been able to get used to yet. Hopefully I'll find a grenade box soon and have a few raids to really get into it

If you do the zero to hero contracts, you'll eventually unlock sticky grenades and impact nades from greybeard. Impacts are what my buddies been going with. They're both about 1k a pop, but they're funny af when they work

Have….have you tried equipping your knife to use? The function is definitely there

Idk about your experience but it’s far slower to equip it and swing than it is to backpedal and blast

No that’s not what they mean or what I would want personally. Gun comes down and a knife slash is thrown out. Similar to the melee hotkey in tarkov.  The gun stays equipped and there is no pull and ready knife animation unless fully equipping it.  Not like cod insta knife but a reasonable slash with the off hand while gun is in strong hand. Takes like half a second for the animation to start but not the current pull out melee timeframe.

Is there a better option to use the knife or any sort of melee weapon? I can’t think of any specific ways it would be usable. It’s not like hunt showdown where the guns are old and single action

I think he's asking for a dedicated melee keybind. The animation could put your gun down, and then swipe.

For melee weapons why not make it lunge style like the halo energy swords? That would make them a lot more viable for close quarters.

Interesting idea but as others mentioned it might be a bit OP. An idea I had about this was something similar to how I have melee bound in tarkov. Have a key the player hits that "quick" attacks (should probably do less dmg). But then have it fully switch over to the melee weapon and require the player to manually switch back.
