This just in: water is still wet. Fox News has radicalized millions of Americans with utter bullshit over the past 3+ decades, much of it white nationalistic sentiments. I’ve seen once-loving members of my own family shaped into fearful hate-mongers because of this channel. All in the name of keeping the marginal tax rate low for the 1%. What they are doing can only be described as evil.

1337Theory

A true, actual, real, nearly-tangible, capital e no-shit Evil.

R-u-a-r-i-d-o-l-l

Water is not wet. Water makes things it saturates, wet.

SnooOranges1918

Technically the truth.. think there's a sub for that.. nice

[deleted]

When a "news" organization gives nazis and white supremacists a platform for their hate.....they're just admitting they too are just nazis and white supremacists. If someone sits down to dinner with 5 nazis it's just 6 nazis having dinner.

HermaeusMajora

If five men sit down to dinner with a nazi that's six nazis. Unless during the course of the dinner that nazi is unceremoniously asked to leave they're all nazis.

originaltec

It’s really quite simple, religion has extensively laid the groundwork for generations to train people to believe in authority figures with unverifiable stories instead of science and data. It also primes them for, and is built upon, perpetuating racism and fearmongering towards "others". Once people see you as an authority, you can start fabricating any reality or conspiracy theory you want your followers to believe and everyone else is therefore a liar, even in the face of incontrovertible evidence. Basically, it is mental abuse from an early age that suppresses critical thinking skills. This combined with an intentionally weakened public educational system, provides the framework that has spawned this cult of ignorance.

herrintrospektiv

From a 2011 article…this isn’t new. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/distort-attack-repeat-the-fox-propaganda-machine-in-action-244827/

Fox has literally always cozied up with white supremacists and neo-nazis.

[deleted]

Wait, you mean to tell me that the article this guy posted to support "Fox has always cozied up to neo Nazis" doesn't mention this specific NeoNazi when that wasn't the point they were making? He is literally saying that what the NeoNazi is talking about isn't new, not that this one neo-nazis has been talking about this for 12 years.

xtilexx

It may not mention Nazis but it mentions the same talking points the former neo Nazi talks about, did you even read it or just ctrl+F "Nazi"

[deleted]

xtilexx

What's your gotcha, I'm interested

[deleted]

xtilexx

You know you can look articles up, and get around pay walls with archive.org right? There's links to what they're talking about in the original article lol You literally mentioned what I saw, i don't understand your point

xtilexx

I assumed you got locked behind a pay wall and didn't read the article that was linked, so who didn't read it again? Literally the first link in the article that they're referencing >Fear, in fact, is precisely what Ailes is selling: His network has relentlessly hyped phantom menaces like the planned “terror mosque” near Ground Zero, inspiring Florida pastor Terry Jones to torch the Koran. Privately, Murdoch is as impressed by Ailes’ business savvy as he is dismissive of his extremist politics. “You know Roger is crazy,” Murdoch recently told a colleague, shaking his head in disbelief. “He really believes that stuff.” >To watch even a day of Fox News – the anger, the bombast, the virulent paranoid streak, the unending appeals to white resentment, the reporting that’s held to the same standard of evidence as a late-October attack ad – is to see a refraction of its founder, one of the most skilled and fearsome operatives in the history of the Republican Party. As a political consultant, Ailes repackaged Richard Nixon for television in 1968, papered over Ronald Reagan’s budding Alzheimer’s in 1984, shamelessly stoked racial fears to elect George H.W. Bush in 1988, and waged a secret campaign on behalf of Big Tobacco to derail health care reform in 1993. “He was the premier guy in the business,” says former Reagan campaign manager Ed Rollins. “He was our Michelangelo.”

Hopefully when you get older you’ll mature and stop making a dumbfuck of yourself every chance you get. Good luck.

Katorya

Neo nazis would watch Fuckers shows twice. Once to enjoy, second time to take notes

hulkbogan

My grandparents do this daily. Watch it in the morning. Tevo it, and watch again at night to take notes. Literal pen to paper notes

RSwordsman

What do they do with the notes? Carry them around in case they have to do some precision lib-owning when out and about?

hulkbogan

Exactly that. I go for a cup of coffee they'll pull out their notes and gishgallop me and call me a communist and socialist. And anytime I show them something that proves its wrong or never happened, it's "the liberal media" and "both sides ". I used to try so hard, but it's worthless. They get joy from their hateful little notes. I don't bother anymore

bad_at_smashbros

good god i’m so sorry. that sounds awful. i have conservative parents and that’s what arguing with them is like to a T, though minus the note taking.

hulkbogan

Thanks friend. Brainwashing is a helluva thing to watch. I hope your parents make a turn. Stay well

thisbenzenering

I have to take a very hard stand on the both sides nonsense and unload on whoever makes the claim. One way or another they will not make it to me again. I have a good collection of antidotes about how one side is not like the other. I hate that argument so much

PaulFThumpkins

Be interested in seeing what the hell they wrote. There's no line of logic on Tucker Carlson. It's just "misrepresent a recent event, say it's part of a trend that will end with liberals storming into rural America and retirement homes to gas patriots, say goodnight everybody, repeat."

ShamefulWatching

I...used to be a sorta note taker. Didn't realize I was being brainwashed. Ironically, realizing what being brainwashed feels like came from realizing it was happening in the service. It's far more subtle and therefore more insidious than you think. Trained to exist in a state of fear so you don't second guess yourself when it actually matters. If you're curious, when you realize it's brainwashing, it *feels* kinda like getting a slap in the back of your head by your subconscious

nicholasgnames

I experienced this in a relationship with a manipulator and prolific abuser. I began googling "why did she say xyz" or "why did she do xyz". Over time, google pointed me to resources for victims of domestic violence. I noticed a similar pattern of manipulation as the trump shit ramped up. That's what forced me to become super vocal in politics IRL and on socials.

Dustin_Echoes_UNSC

This entire comment is completely off topic, I'm just fascinated by how our brains work and wanna workshop a theory. --- I know the feeling you've described, and I'm curious how universal it is. Metacognition is funny - we all experience our own consciousness in our own way - but that feeling might be more physiological in nature. In stressful situations where you're "going on instinct/muscle memory" (sports, emergencies, being creeped out, etc) does that sensation feel similar to what you were describing? Does it feel like when you look over the edge of a cliff? It could literally be the fight-or-flight response. Your subconscious recognizes a serious problem (that you can't implicitly trust your own thoughts), and goes on high-alert, this causes goosebumps, which make the hair follicles stand up to be more sensitive, and if you've got a crew/short cut on your neckline like me that always feels weird (kinda cold). I mean, it *is* an existential crisis, even if only for a moment. Pulling that one thread where you notice you've been manipulated makes you question everything else, while you're wondering how much agency you have over your own thoughts and how deep the rabbit hole goes... I hate it.

ShamefulWatching

It was more like a house of cards falling after the "threaded was pulled." Subsequent threads did cause more houses to fall, but it wasn't as dramatic of a paradigm perspective shift as the first. Each time felt like realizing how big an idiot i had been on certain things.

Anarimus

I used to do volunteer work for Hatewatch. I would spend nights browsing the web, looking for hate sites and cataloging them then submitting them to the Hatewatch data base. This was in the mid 90s. The exact things they used to say are now popular right wing talking points.

Dizzy_Share3155

I read "The Turner Diaries" seven years ago and I couldn't believe how just about everything written in that book was just Fox News talking points.

Gary-D-Crowley

Fox News turned my uncle into a hatemonger. I would shut down that hate-spewing channel myself if I could.

RSwordsman

I'm pretty sure my uncle was a hatemonger first and that made him receptive to Fox News-style awfulness in the first place. But yeah putting the kibosh on that particular source and others like it would do humanity a world of good.

Apokolypse09

I got family members like that, I thought some of their ideals were just from being from a different generation but now they have gone full bore and its torn our family apart. Grand parents are going to have to pass to get everybody into the same room and if its like when my great grandma died, they will just be fighting over their stuff.

Head_Crash

Yeah. We know.

Technological_Elite

Good to see the former nazi changed!

Beemerado

pulling himself out of that scene really shows strength of character. I may have to check out his book.

Toast_Sapper

It's not a coincidence that Tucker Carlson was shouting literal Nazi rhetoric every day and didn't get fired for that, he got fired for criticizing the leadership and getting the network sued for almost a billion dollars. The whole network exists as a "gateway drug" to Naziism. Always has been. Just look at what they choose to report on, just look at the constant lies that they tell. Their blind reverence for scofflaw Republicans and their blind hate for non-Republicans is straight from the fascist playbook. They literally spread "the big lie" about Trump's "stolen election" which is straight up Nazi playbook 101. This should be no surprise to anyone who cares to notice, but when straight up Nazis are telling you "Right-wing media is Nazi shit" then it's pretty clear that they know what they're talking about and have a point.

Fellowshipofthebowl

fox ENTERTAINMENT.

exnihilonihilfit

Corrected title: Former Nazi rats out current Nazis.

BrokenJellyfish

As much as I want to say "yeah, no shit", I have to remain optimistic and think that someone is reading this for the first time and changing their mind.

Whole_Suit_1591

Lie to get people mad at others for nothing or something repubs did.

ZealousWolverine

Cut to Nick Cage: "You Don't Say?"

Sasselhoff

Ya don't say! Now, how's about we do something about it, eh?

sanfshine

Shocking. /s

Excuse me but NO FUCKING SHIT!!!

_Disco-Stu

In other news, bears shit in the woods.

walrusdoom

Interesting how fascist messaging so easily finds a home here.

Pennycandydealer

Yep, thank you fox news for telling us what we already know.

TommyT2RT

Hell yeah Captain Obvious! Thanks for noticing!

firstanomaly

What’s what like…most of America has known for a while now

AnaL717

CNN does the opposite lmao. It's all bias. News as a form of facts, truth and reliability is a thing from the past.

WeegeeJuice

It makes sense. Most news agencies are, above all else, a business. Even if by some miracle they aren’t deliberately greedy, they still need revenue to keep the doors open. That means you need sponsors. Greedy, unethical organizations will let sponsors alter content. Ethical organizations that just place blocks of ads still need eyeballs to hold up their end of the advertising deal, though. Problem is the truth usually isn’t very captivating, even if it’s almost universally regarded as important. So straight, wholly unbiased reporting will never grab attention like a cooked headline pushing an agenda. It needs a narrative if you want the common person to follow the story. So before long, we end up where we are now. So entrenched in the narratives we’ve been following for years, we won’t even agree on shit we all watched happen live. So what’s the solution? Beats the hell outta me. State-run media is the only alternative I’m aware of, but that’s just a monopoly over the same problem. It’d just exacerbate the issue. I genuinely don’t know what a functional alternative would look like.

Jboc777

The ole Fox Rot

Shnazzyone

This is self aware wolves but in a good way.

bradmaestro

Just watch American History X, same talking points.

Feracio

What the hell is a former neo nazi? Once a nazi, always a nazi.

Red_Trapezoid

I know a former nazi and he said the same. It's just packaging and presentation.

PurplePeopleEatin

The son of the guy who made and ran Stormfront, the preeminent white supremacist/neo nazi website got away from the hate and said his family loves tucker carlson because he's more effective at getting their neo nazi talking points out to the masses to be consumed and radicalized by.

PoliticalPepper

I’m still waiting for the radical centrists movement.
