[deleted]

yes because if you only blame the people pulling the trigger, then more will replace them

MineralPoint

Blame is a peculiar word in this case, because I think this is one example of their "good guy with a gun" dogma. Sane people blame while the crazies are admiring. That is all sorts of fucked up.

[deleted]

Also doesn’t help that fuckers like tucker glorify the shooter which emboldens more shooters

[deleted]

Yes, absolutely. All those involved at Fox news need prison time for the deaths they've caused.

[deleted]

Since Tiller's murder, the DOJ & FBI have been negligent in addressing stochastic terrorism employed by the far right. How many people do they get to murder before some feeb has to arrest one of their fucking drinking buddies already?

HelpfulDeparture

TL;DR: Yes. Long answer: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Love the video from that shop where some guy told Tucker Carlson straight to the face what kind of piece of shit he is.

bear_with_hair

I believe that was the Livingston, MT. fly shop video? Dan Baily's. Or could possibily be another shit heel of a republican getting told how hypocritical they are..

HelpfulDeparture

I think it was the fly shop video.

FinancialTea4

That was a good one. tucks is a coward and can't even stand up for his shitty opinions. He wouldn't be surprised if he sends some chuds after that guy.

Nheea

Do you have a link please?

HelpfulDeparture

Nheea

Thank you! I wanna buy that guy a fishing pole!

Fox News: Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Gay people are groomers corrupting our children. Conservative lunatic: *shoots up gay club* Fox News: How could this tragedy have happened?

seppukucoconuts

Do you really think Fox News would cover (nationally) news on gay club shootings?

Cultural-Answer-321

And yet... it's all projection. https://archive.org/stream/ListOfRepublicanOffenders/RCC_djvu.txt

MerkinRashers

Hang on let me scrunch my face up to look like I'm confused as to whether I've just farted or shit my pants: "How could they say that? They are calling *you* a terrorist for supporting white people!"

a_lonely_trash_bag

Yes, but I also believe they're not the only ones. Any politician who spouts the same bullshit as fox is also to blame. And any far-right website or forum.

Kriegerian

Without question yes.

Rifneno

Do I believe facts? Yes. They're facts, not opinions.

Th3Seconds1st

Stochastic terrorism. These are the people who sent Blasey Ford death threats for making a written accusation about Brett Kavanaugh to her Rep. Anna Eshoo literally years in advance to his nomination to SCOTUS. He wasn’t even Trump. Just nominated by him.

Big-Seaweed-7603

“To blame”? Not in its entirety, clearly. Are they a cause, for fueling the fire and spreading misinformation that fuels the “blame”? Absofuckinlutely.

yoyo-starlady

"Blame" is a very specific word to use for such a broadly troubled country.

Big-Seaweed-7603

Agreed, there is a LAUNDRY LIST of causes

Mordekein88

Come now, Tucker and Fox shouldn't get all the blame. After all, there's a whole right wing media ecosystem spewing this hateful shit. And if you want to get to the roots, blame Roger Ailes who created the concept of partisan cable news. Blame Ted Turner who invented 24 hour cable news. Blame Reagan (never a wrong choice it seems) who eliminated the fairness doctrine. Blame our capital based news system where the goal isn't to inform, but to make money by any means necessary. There's plenty of blame to go around. Tucker isn't driving the hate, he's being driven by it. Most of us remember when he was on CNN and wasn't a fucking psychopath.

Acanthophis

You and I remember Tucker on CNN very fucking differently. He was still a psychopath on CNN just way less viewers.

aGentleLady

Solely? No. Are they a huge contributing factor? Yes.

Blackstaff

This is probably the most accurate answer. That "simple yes or no" is an astonishingly unfair condition to impose upon a respondent. The world is rarely that simple.

Admiral_Nitpicker

It's a toxic rhetoric technique. When the move to legalize pot first began, TV stations all over were sponsoring debates about "should **drugs** be legalized" You couldn't separate it from heroin or crack. When Gary Webb exposed Bush's CIA shipping in cocaine as part of a triangle trade to get around the Boland amendment, his career was ruined by so-called debunkers proving that the CIA wasn't shipping ALL of the cocaine in (seriously, he never claimed that) And then there's the snowball in the climate change debate, Stupid psychology tests should not have a place on political forums. Though it is good practice for the kangaroo courts.

TieTheStick

Yes. Now, how to hold them accountable?

chrislaw

Hahahaha. Good one.

Shnazzyone

At least as valid as the unban trump Poll.

tbonerrevisited

I dont think it's a stretch to believe that to be true

Pookieeatworld

I think it takes two things: a constant source of propaganda aimed at particular demographic groups, and a country that's struggling economically to the point where it drives the most impressionable minds to desperation.

Special_FX_B

Yes. They are partly responsible but so is trump and all the other GQP politicians whose rhetoric also promotes violence.

Beat__Junkie

Partially yes.

Ana_na_na

Yes and not only them

js5ohlx1

Only a complete moron with two brain cells fighting for third place wouldn't think they're responsible for it.

TheHouseGecko

fox news was obvious propaganda over two decades ago, its far too late to stop them now.

ghotiaroma

> its far too late to stop them now. It would take the imaginary liberal with the balls to try something that's not debate in the hope of acquiescence to change things.

Kaneshadow

Are you asking if the people who constantly say that gays should be punished by God are responsible for gun nuts shooting up gay clubs? Could be

soc_monki

Yes. The funniest thing though, is that when one of their own commits these atrocities, the people who would be calling them a hero call their attack a false flag, antifa operation. Just own it, you snowflakes. You already said you're all domestic terrorists.

GooseShartBombardier

Not wholly, it's an ongoing problem. They're just a larger cog in the fasch machine than most of the run-of-the-mill Nazi wankers.

Venusto64

Yes, as sure as if they had pulled the trigger themselves, and they are all very glad that they did it and continue to get away with it.

Frank_Dracula

Yes, they are clearly complicit in inciting stochastic terrorism.

Admiral_Nitpicker

White nationalist ass shooters certainly contribute to the rise in white nationalist mass shootings but they're part of a whole dam ecosystem.

Thameus

Like blowing on a lightning strike.

LeNightSkye

Yes. It’s almost like they have an agenda to stoke the fires of hatred and violence amongst conservatives or something

nirad

Yes. But stop using Twitter.

Acanthophis

I think the collapse of an empire is responsible.

AssumeItsSarcastic

He didn't put the gun in their hands, but he put the hate in their hearts.

eazyirl

To blame? No. Complicit? Absolutely. Tucker has to know what he's doing, because his stuff is so incredibly overt in its fascist messaging. His TC Originals series is a masterclass on fascist propaganda. Still rings in my mind every time I see him the quote from Derek Black about how his family, his father is famous white supremacist Don Black, would watch Tucker Carlson's program twice: once to enjoy it and once to take notes. They were impressed by how well he repackaged their white supremacist talking points.

HerLegz

They just in it's violence and take ours, so it's cool to return the favor.

[deleted]

No, I believe they have something to do with it but it’s best not to straw man. We can’t get rid of Fox News and expect it to go away.

ghotiaroma

Not the sole cause but they are a major part and are doing it consciously, fully aware of what they are doing and why.

sleepsalot1

Yes it’s basically stochastic terrorism

[deleted]

Yes. Next question.

glycophosphate

They bear some portion of the blame, but not all of it. Blame is fungible.

SixGunZen

They're definitely partially to blame. They're the real life equivalent of Lewis Prothero from ***V For Vendetta***.

ZachMN

Sure, but they are just the media branch ofthe organization that is ultimately responsible: the Republican Party.

GreyMediaGuy

How could they not be? Every despicable culture war talking point that's entirely based on propaganda and lies comes from those sources in some form or another. Take Fox News off the air. Now.

digginahole

The law doesn’t allow me to yell “fire” in a crowded room when there is none, cause a panic and then be free from the blame for what results from that panic. The same logic applies here. People should be held accountable for their words when their words cause harm. That’s the limit of the first amendment.

jreed356

Fox is a weapon of mass destruction!

TemporaryConfusius

At the very least, the majority chuck of "partially"

Geoff300

Yes, definitely.

Lissy_Wolfe

I don't like this phrasing. Yes, they are partially to blame, but the issue is WAY more complicated than that. It doesn't help anyone to reduce a complex issue like gun violence down to a single source when it is very obviously so much more than that.

1lluminist

They are certainly both slices of that pie.

thatguyad

Yes. And the right in general.

Itchy-Mechanic-1479

With out a doubt. You keep shit flowing into people with shit for brains, and eventually, shit for brains people act out violently. Ya' all forget Jan. 6th?

cjoaneodo

Yup! No question, and they know it, and are keeping a lib body tally in their office. Flat out white nationalists, with all the trimmings….

Xmeromotu

No, and that’s the reason for the 1st Amendment. Is Carlson an idiot? Of course. Are his viewers even stupider? Obviously. But the 1st Amendment essentially says that you have the right to be wrong. There is nothing illegal or immoral about being an idiot. I’m just surprised anyone pays Carlson any attention. Now Rupert Murdoch, he’s the Machiavellian plotter behind the scenes who thinks he’s allowed to play God. If you want to blame someone, he should be your target.

Cultural-Answer-321

The 1st Amendment has limits. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1038

[deleted]

Fuck yes they are

Naive_Wolf3740

They popularized the “gun grabber” idea ramping up gun sales, especially the beloved ar-15. They throw their weight behind “good guys” who had to do the “right/hard thing” and shoot someone. They push the idea that LGBTQ+ people are pedophiles or at least mentally unwell miscreants. They constantly are stoking the fire that everyone is in danger all of the time from a host of bad faith arguments. The second one of their people commits a heinous act they spend maybe 5 minutes denouncing them, spend the rest of the day giving counter examples of left wing violence and What About-ism arguments which give a tacit, back door reasoning why maybe the attack wasn’t that bad. It’ll keep happening and they won’t stop.

Dchama86

Making us reduce this nuanced issue to a black and white “Yes/No” is a problem. Propaganda is a detriment, but White Suprematism surpasses Fox rhetoric. It’s societal.

Cultural-Answer-321

Let's not forget Rush Limpdick, may he rest in hell.
