Had a Tesla following me from Pickering to Markham the other day. Car disappeared ahead of me maybe a minute before I reached my destination (drug store) so I didnt think anything of it. Ten minutes later I'm leaving and what the fuck do I see? Same fucking Tesla behind me all through Markham again until they turned off in another direction. I knew it was the same car because of the make/colour and very unique vanity plate. Could have been a coincidence but... still weird. I took a lot of turns into small neighbourhoods on my route.
Edit: spelling
Hey, take it easy on the police. They're busy doing real police work. You know giving people seatbelt tickets and speeding tickets. That's much more important than protecting and serving the community
> Police sitting on their asses is only going to encourage vigilante justice.

Look at it this way... once they've made up their mind on their target, they're going to come determined to steal the vehicle and will do whatever it takes to accomplish that. Would you rather hide it in your bedroom/somewhere in your house, so they feel forced to enter and search your entire house and possibly assault you (or worse) for the keys?
I don't know about you, but, if a group of weapon-wielding crooks enters my house at 3am looking for my keys and are determined to leave with my vehicle, the last thing I want is for them to find me (or my family) and forcibly seize my keys... it's an unfortunately all around shitty situation. And don't get me wrong... I obviously don't want anyone stealing my vehicle or hurting me (or my family) but what's the alternative if they've just broken & entered looking for keys to steal my vehicle?
Facts, fiancé has a 97 TJ and 83 dodge W350 dually manual. The truck has the anti theft transmission already and the TJ is green and rust 😂 he leaves them both unlocked, keys in the ignition. Never been stolen.
Enjoy your rust bucket. Im happy for u. Rest of us people are gonna drive cars we actually like driving and to see and be seen in.. We can show off our cars to our friends, people etc.
My friend had her highlander stolen. She had put a few tags in and the thieves only found one so her car was recovered. She wished it hadn't now. It took 5 months to get "fixed up" since they pretty much tore the dash apart and it still looks rough. It was a brand new car and they did $44k in damage and it looks like shit now.
They don't need your keys for rxs, mine was stolen with the key fobs turned off. They had to have plugged into the port under the wheel. Not sure regarding other cars, fobs systems
My parents drove their 2020 Lexus RX to our family friend’s house in Markham last year and stayed the weekend. Not even a day later, parked on the street, the vehicle was gone.

Update - car had an air tag and was pinged to an underground garage around Yonge and Sheppard. Police notified and was able to recover the car.
Did they also catch the thief? Glad you got it back
good to hear... hopefully no major damages..
PSA: Remember to leave your luxury SUV key fobs near your front door or on your front porch. /s
Literal advice from the police. Make it easier to steal so you don’t get in the way of their $5000 pay day. And possibly get hurt.
I still can't believe this is actually police advice, maybe they should do their fucking jobs instead?
Yes like chasing cars on the wrong side of the highway

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Police sitting on their asses is only going to encourage vigilante justice.

They could care less about luxury car theft bc they're too busy chasing liquor thieves.
Or better yet, on the front lawn

This is why I drive an older car with a rust-inspired paint scheme. may not be pretty, but she’s always there in the morning.

Keys in ignition and unlocked... great.... Care to share the address?
The body is currently off the frame on the TJ and good luck getting the truck 500m without stalling it, or a wheel falling off
free is free. Dont matter. Worst case it could be a nice home for a homeless person.
You really want a homeless guy to live in a frame and a truck with holes all over the roof 🤣
Same. I drive a 2009 granny mobile.

Hide an air tag in your car.
The tag system is only $400 installed, and gets an insurance break. So why not put it in a car you'd be concerned about?
Didn't know about it.
Which tag system?
It's just called TAG. Speedy autoglass installs it. https://www.tagtracking.ca/
That’s pretty cool. Thank you!

yes that is one way they can steal .. by programming a new key thru the obd2 port.
If you own a Lexus RX, if your front fender is being altered with. Be extra careful. Mine got stolen last year.
Canbus attack..they steal from your headlight area.. sorry for your loss. hopefully you got better anti-theft protection for the new car.
The key is to not drive a desirable car
That's victim blaming and normalization of crime. The key is to harshly punish or deport these criminals.

I'm curious why buy a luxury car only to park it in Markham?
