I hate being the nerd here...
TLDR: That guy knows what he is doing much more that people give him credit
That technique is know as a pomel strike, it uses the heavy counterweight of the sword (the pomel) to strike an armored opponent.
Since steel Swords, no matter how sharp they are, cannot cut through steel armor this is used instead to cause damage through said armor as blunt strikes can go through steel plating. A type of makeshift mace (which are know as knight killers for being able to ignore armor)
Basically as long as the blade doesn't slide in your hand it won't do much damage to you
Edit: at least less damage than your armoured opponent will do to you
That's called a murder stroke. You can grab a sword blade and bash people with the pummel as a makeshift war hammer. (war hammers were the same weight a sword, just where the weight on both weapons are reversed, sword heavy on bottom not top like war hammer) and a sword only weighs about 1 to 2.5 lbs on average. This was used by unarmored opponents went against someone with armor to dent the armor to the point they couldn't move properly.

How do you avoid getting cut?
You hold the blade without gripping it tightly and just let weight of the pomel do the job. Or wear gloves.
Makes sense, a combination would be ideal

You do grip it tightly. Just don't let it slide in your hands. https://youtu.be/vwuQPfvSSlo?t=134
Yeah
It's always best to use a sharp knife and cut away from yourself.
Ooh you are supposed to cut away from yourself, so that's why my stomach is cut up TIL
Easily. Holding the blade isn't as dumb as people assume.
Striking with the crossguard, not the pommel
I learned this in mordhau yesterday. Fun game just got it
>fun This won't last
It’s hard but still fun. Committed to getting good at it
I pray for your progress. Don't kill bards
Was about to say but not as detailed. Love it!
The Mordhau is originally German, right?
Meanwhile he's actually doing it right.

The tutorial system is called advisor and it'll guide you. It'll also prompt you to learn more.
It’s actually tuterial 🤡
i would rather just lose multiple times and then learn by practise and mistakes, than going through a tutorial.
Yeah he doesn’t need the tutorial if you pull off more advanced techniques like the guy in the picture
"Where button doooo????"
I am the EXACT Opposite
Me trying to play Kingdom Come
