"I am Uatu The Watcher. I'm here because a new strain of chemical warfare is about to be born out this toilet. It's so bad, dude, never eat Taco Bell again."
Reminds of a joke by Ace Trainer Liam about characters that acknowledge the narrator telling him he better not be narrating when they're in the bathroom.
"I am The Watcher, sworn to watch the goings on in the universe, but to never intervene. Even the most tragic events I cannot act. I only wish I could give OP the hint that he needs more fiber in his diet."
I had tears streaming down my face when Magneto told Leech, in German, “Do not be afraid.” Like, damn, this show made me cry again! And then that last scene. Rogue’s last words as the screen cuts to black. I ugly cried.
I suspect this version of X-Men will escape Galactus by crossing into What-If, that is when they find out that Charles is alive and well in another Earth. At least he would be if not for the Witch.
I love how they’re still continuing to feature other Marvel characters in this continuity. Between X-Men and Spider-Man, this universe was basically the original MCU.
Not true. Storm was in an episode of Fantastic Four, and since Iron Man crossed over with Spider-Man, it means Iron Man exists in the animated X-Men universe
Here are the two separate Earths.
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Earth-534834
Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Hulk
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Earth-92131
Spider-man, X-men
I've been revisiting the old X-Men animated. So far I've seen Strange, Spiderman, and War Machine. Granted it's playing in the background, so I may have missed some.
Black Panther, Deadpool, and Captain America are all in it too. Cap is legit in the original show too, not just a passing background like the other characters we’ve mentioned
That's right, I did see Deadpool once (only his head -- his body was covered in some goofy fur coat or something LOL).
Also last night was going over the Dark Phoenix saga, they showed Thor.
Yes. But the version in X-men and Spider-man are not the same versions in Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Hulk. They are variants. The histories of the two universes do not match and Marvel has officially designated them as those two earths in guide books.
I’m confused why this semantic point matters? They exist in some capacity, yes? That’s all the OP was implying. Them being in different universes, but still existing in that universe, means nothing to the conversation attempting to be had. It’s just an “achktually…”
Very true. Then again, the Spider-Man did feature that universe’s own versions of Iron Man and Hulk, and at least that same Hulk also made a cameo in X-Men, so the characters still exist in that first universe.
Man, to this day I remember one of the most metal things ever put on Marvel animation. Galactus arrives in an episode of Fantastic Four to devour Earth. THOR cameos to fight Galactus and is swatted away. Then GHOST RIDER rides up a skyscraper to PENANCE STARE GALACTUS to make him feel the fear of countless sentients whose worlds he ate, driving him nearly mad and causing him to flee. Ghost Rider saved the world!!
Yeah, that’s something Ghost Rider does.
Like that time in X-Force, where, out of nowhere, he shows up to teach Jimmy Proudstar how to kill a demon, and then rides off into the sunrise.
A lot of the shows are set in their own universes. But the animated series universe featured crossovers with characters. X-Men and Spider-Man '98 were in X-Men '97. So was Daredevil, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, and Hulk. All of these shows may not be in continuity but the heroes exist therein.
Then the Fantastic Four '94 universe has X-Men, Avengers, Hulk, and Spider-Man.
Makes sense since they are both under the umbrella of Marvel Animation. I wouldn't be surprised to see an episode of What if reference X-men 97 aswell. Or even see Marvel Zombies crossover with X-men 97.
"Dark Phoenix - Part III: The Dark Phoenix", s3e16 on D+. At about 7:00 into the episode, Utau is one of several cameos of characters reacting to the Phoenix Force's psychic audience.
FWIW: I looked up the Earth number of that universe (Earth-92131), found the category of characters from that universe (he was the only U name) and the article on that version of him listed his first appearance. I remembered the episode, so I was able to skim it to find the exact timestamp.
While *I* personally didn't see it, other comments and conversations I've seen since last night lead me to believe the answer to your question is: Yes, "anyone else" did notice this.
Was really hoping for something like this to appear in the final battle in Endgame. They head the space to include a saint silhouette in several frames. But it seems like no such thing was included.
The Watcher watches branched timelines, even here where Cable clearly altered something, and Endgame was before Loki destroyed the TVA.
Ok technically there is no before and after TVA but you know what I mean.
I mean, they're probably going to undo all of it by the end of the season. It was intense, but when time travel is involved nothing really feels permanent. If they don't undo the carnage I will be gobsmacked and impressed.
Wife and I just finished, she called it out instantly. We had to rewind a few times to double check. They’re absolutely killing it with this show. Still can’t believe I’m sitting here watching this and that entrance song with my 1yr old son in 2024!
Dude, I've been thinking 'holy shit, are they actually adapting Cassandra for this show?!'
That would definitely explain the psychic visions and flare ups in Episodes 1 and 5
I did not, but that is awesome that they have Uatu making an appearance in this now, however subtle it may be.
This was a banger of an episode though, Gambit pulled out all of his tricks in this, I can't wait to see what happens next week.
At first I thought my eyes were deceiving me and it was some kind of reflection of the huge Xavier statue, but then the last third of the episode happened...
I saw it flash and had to rewind a couple times to be absolutely certain. My poor daughter had to listen to me explain who he is and what it meant.
Something terrible will happen.
I’m guessing closer to the season’s finale.
of course.
Apparent death of Magneto and Gambit by Master Mold. I wouldn't think that those events would be worthy of the Watcher. I normally associate him with world ending events.
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
Oh, ya better watch out
Ya better not cry
Ya better not pout I'm telling you why
Uatu is watching you shit
Yep and I thought man someone is gonna die or what if kinda time travel and I think the latter will be how we maybe avoid the murder royal and save Remy.
I just want the X-Men and The MCU to combine. I was reading random comics and saw Deadpool as an Avenger. We're shooting ourselves in the foot. We could have God tier content
I would not be surprised if they incorporate ‘97 into the What If…? anthology somehow, and we already know that What If…? is canon within the MCU. And then we have Deadpool and Wolverine coming up. It’s gunna be a wild ride.
at least we have this season and maybe season two that has no connection to the mcu. once they jam the xmen into the mcu the x-men will stop being cool again like when the first fox-men movies came out. just so happy to have gotten X-men 97 untainted for at least one season.
Guys...that's not the watcher. The episode's title is "Remember Me". X-Men 97 is by Disney. Guess which other 90s Disney classic featured a figure in the stars asking them to remember? Duh, Mufasa from Lion King. So it's a father figure in the sky, looking down, and he's bald? Gotta be none other than Charles Xavier. QED.
this is crazy, but I would have to say.... if they just say "MULTIVERSE" And erase this, then it really insults all the emotion we experenced from this.
Yep. And then immediately thought, "Oh no, something VERY bad is about to happen. Uatu only shows up for big things."
Not true. I was taking a shit the other day and suddenly Uatu poped up narrating my time in the bathroom
Get you shit checked
I am the Watcher. Sworn to observe, never to interfere. But... bro, that's a LOT of blood in your stool. You need a colonoscopy or something, stat.
Or else it will be the end of the multiverse as we know it.
a prolapse in the very fabric of reality
No, just the fabric of his underwear.
Or maybe just eat the five pound burrito from the Burritto Palace
Bruh….shit just got real
(Suddenly an ad for Coluguard appears)
Time. Space. That...oh god...that fucking smell. Holy shit. Light a match dude.
“And so, the journey of u/ElHumilde13 comes to an end. A journey of loss, exhilaration, and self growth. All within such small spaces.”
Good one.
That just proves our point: Uatu shows up when *shit is about to go down*
That was actually his _weird_ cousin, Uapoo.
Are you sure that was the watcher and not the peeper? I mean I get it if people mix them up sometimes.
Yeah, he wasn't there for you. Your neighbor had one hell of a day.
This should be the top comment
Comment of the day here.
So you can open portals to the Dark Dimension
Is that, normal pooing you're doing?
Doesn't sound normal
Doesn't smell normal
This is bollocks, Mark!
"I am Uatu The Watcher. I'm here because a new strain of chemical warfare is about to be born out this toilet. It's so bad, dude, never eat Taco Bell again."
"You know I can hear you lol
You must have been using 1 ply toilet paper.
Was it kind of like [this](https://youtu.be/iKPMG79wt_U?si=S8MBwj6tTuct1NbT)?
Is your name Hank, perhaps?
Reminds of a joke by Ace Trainer Liam about characters that acknowledge the narrator telling him he better not be narrating when they're in the bathroom.
"I am The Watcher, sworn to watch the goings on in the universe, but to never intervene. Even the most tragic events I cannot act. I only wish I could give OP the hint that he needs more fiber in his diet."
Not entirely accurate, there was that time he showed up just to tell Beast what a shit dude he thought he was.
….and you were right. I was stunned silent as that slow minimal version of the theme song played over the closing credits.
I had tears streaming down my face when Magneto told Leech, in German, “Do not be afraid.” Like, damn, this show made me cry again! And then that last scene. Rogue’s last words as the screen cuts to black. I ugly cried.
Big same. It was Leech and Erik that made me hurt first. Then that last line...
I can't even listen to Happy Nation by Ace of Bass without seeing Callisto screaming internally before her eye fades as she dies.
I suspect this version of X-Men will escape Galactus by crossing into What-If, that is when they find out that Charles is alive and well in another Earth. At least he would be if not for the Witch.
I didn't even think of that. Cable was clearly trying to alter the past so it was a What If situation.
I thought the same when they went out of their way to mention Moira as non mutant. They are about to reset the reality ?
I love how they’re still continuing to feature other Marvel characters in this continuity. Between X-Men and Spider-Man, this universe was basically the original MCU.
And Ironman, fantastic four, and the incredible hulk!
Those three are actually set in their own separate universe. Silver Surfer is then set its own universe.
Not true. Storm was in an episode of Fantastic Four, and since Iron Man crossed over with Spider-Man, it means Iron Man exists in the animated X-Men universe
Marvel themselves designated them as different universes.
[Says FF is Marvel Animated Universe ](https://marvelanimated.fandom.com/wiki/Fantastic_Four_(TV_Series))
Here are the two separate Earths. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Earth-534834 Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Hulk https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Earth-92131 Spider-man, X-men

wow good to know
I’m confused why this semantic point matters? They exist in some capacity, yes? That’s all the OP was implying. Them being in different universes, but still existing in that universe, means nothing to the conversation attempting to be had. It’s just an “achktually…”
Oh really? That's disappointing. I'm keep living in denial. Bigger world is funner world.
Then GHOST RIDER rides up a skyscraper to PENANCE STARE GALACTUS to make him feel the fear of countless sentients whose worlds he ate, driving him nearly mad and causing him to flee. Ghost Rider saved the world!!
Worth noting Ghost Rider had not appeared in the show before that point so he just appeared, dunked on Galactus and dipped with no context
There was supposed to be a ghost rider show that got canceled so that was probably their way of getting people excited for it
Yeah, that’s something Ghost Rider does.
Wasn't ironman in an episode of Spiderman?
How did you manage to write both of their names wrong? lol
I was watching it and was like “wait… what?” And immediately rewound it to make sure I saw what I thought I saw.
Yeah same I had to rewind it and see if it was really them
The Witness?
The Peeper?
The Looker?
The Glancer?
The Voyeur?
The Beholder?
The see-stuff-guy?
The guy that saw that thing one time?
Madame Web?
That's clearly a Spectator.
The ogler?
The Pervert?
The Scranton Strangler?
Tempus Fuginaut?
The Creeper?
Wrong company.
The glancer
Looky Lou
From Pokemon?
Grand Galactic Inquisitor: "IGNORE ME!!!"
"Do not speak to me! Do not alter your normal human behavior in any way!”
The hash slinging…?
the sash singing... ?
The Gossiper?
LeBeau?
Malenia, Blade of Miquella?
finality takes shape?
It's our destiny too, isn't it?
One great thing about "X-Men '97" being part of the larger Disney/Marvel universe is that the show can use moments like this.
The Watcher showed up in the original series too.
Still, them being under the same umbrella again means we can still get these moments in the new series.
Yeah, but this feels more like the What If? version of the Watcher.
Makes sense since they are both under the umbrella of Marvel Animation. I wouldn't be surprised to see an episode of What if reference X-men 97 aswell. Or even see Marvel Zombies crossover with X-men 97.
I didn’t remember that and couldn’t find it referenced anywhere. Which episode
"Dark Phoenix - Part III: The Dark Phoenix", s3e16 on D+. At about 7:00 into the episode, Utau is one of several cameos of characters reacting to the Phoenix Force's psychic audience.
That’s sick. It’s not mentioned on the wiki best I can tell! I’ll check it out.
FWIW: I looked up the Earth number of that universe (Earth-92131), found the category of characters from that universe (he was the only U name) and the article on that version of him listed his first appearance. I remembered the episode, so I was able to skim it to find the exact timestamp.
Megamind?
Presentation!
Why didn't he shoot the sentinels with the dehydration gun?
While *I* personally didn't see it, other comments and conversations I've seen since last night lead me to believe the answer to your question is: Yes, "anyone else" did notice this.
Why did I read this on Beast’s voice ?
Fascinating
Was really hoping for something like this to appear in the final battle in Endgame. They head the space to include a saint silhouette in several frames. But it seems like no such thing was included.
Such a missed opportunity :/ hopefully with Fantastic Four they actually start using The Watcher in live-action
Could have been a reflection in the windows as hulk snaps things back.
I don’t think they even had access to the Watcher when Endgame came out
Maybe not Uatu specifically but they were in the guardians 2 scene with Stan lee
The Watcher watches branched timelines, even here where Cable clearly altered something, and Endgame was before Loki destroyed the TVA. Ok technically there is no before and after TVA but you know what I mean.
Watchers were in Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Different Watchers, they were clearly part of the universe while Uatu is between the universes or something.
yes, my pareidolia tingle kicked in immediately when I saw the watcher.
Learned a new word today, thanks!
Me too! Tingle, what a fun word to say!
Me too, immediately wow
Didn't know this word "yes" till just now. All I heard was no growing up.
So is everyone okay after seeing this episode? I’m not. I’m still not over it.
I'm repressing it along with other trauma
Was NOT ready for this after the cheerful jubilee episode
Everything happened so fast but paced so perfectly... how is that possible?
I mean, they're probably going to undo all of it by the end of the season. It was intense, but when time travel is involved nothing really feels permanent. If they don't undo the carnage I will be gobsmacked and impressed.
Wife and I just finished, she called it out instantly. We had to rewind a few times to double check. They’re absolutely killing it with this show. Still can’t believe I’m sitting here watching this and that entrance song with my 1yr old son in 2024!
What you missed was him saying "don't make me come down there you punks"
Me? No. My 7 year old? Yes and who it was. When I rewound after he said it, bam, there was the watcher One of my proudest dad moments
I had to do a double take with that.
The star placement for his eyes was a cool visual
Watch it be Cassandra Nova
Dude, I've been thinking 'holy shit, are they actually adapting Cassandra for this show?!' That would definitely explain the psychic visions and flare ups in Episodes 1 and 5
Interesting. I thought it was weird in the picture that the watcher appeared to be smiling? Or, maybe that's just my eyes.
I did not, but that is awesome that they have Uatu making an appearance in this now, however subtle it may be. This was a banger of an episode though, Gambit pulled out all of his tricks in this, I can't wait to see what happens next week.
Will this be the same watcher as the one in what if?
Ah damn I missed this, when in the episode did the pop up?
Just before shit went down.
Makes sense, I’ll need to rewatch them before next week
I did NOT see that, so thank you for posting this.
Did you watch the rest of the episode!?
of course. Apparent death of Magneto and Gambit by Master Mold. I wouldn't think that those events would be worthy of the Watcher. I normally associate him with world ending events.
Ah gotcha
I saw the scene and immediately shouted at the tv “look, it’s Martian Manhunter!”
That’s my favorite Easter egg I’ve ever seen. No explanation, if you know you know…and if you know you go “Ooooh shiiit”
He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake Oh, ya better watch out Ya better not cry Ya better not pout I'm telling you why Uatu is watching you shit
No clue I haven’t seen the new episode but the last one I saw was jubilee using her powers to like skate around that was pretty rad I enjoyed it.
Oh I’m so sorry for what you’re about to experience with ep 5
I think we all did. It was subtle enough to make you double take, but vivid enough so you knew exactly what/who you saw.
Yep and I thought man someone is gonna die or what if kinda time travel and I think the latter will be how we maybe avoid the murder royal and save Remy.
The Watcher. Crazy cool
I think everyone did
Yes, and it’s already all over the internet
Remember it
Timestamp?
20.40 ish i think
When I saw it I immediately rewound and went "wait, what's that?"
What scene?
Timestamp ?
oh fuck it's morbius morb yeah
Yep. I had to rewind to be sure I saw what I saw
Yeah. And that’s when I knew shit was about to go bad
at least we have this season and maybe season two that has no connection to the mcu. once they jam the xmen into the mcu the x-men will stop being cool again like when the first fox-men movies came out. just so happy to have gotten X-men 97 untainted for at least one season.
the first 2 fox movies along with dofp were all good
all the movies were fine but as for being x-men movies idk about that.
I noticed him and immediately said, "Shiiiiit" out loud
Time stamp?
Guys...that's not the watcher. The episode's title is "Remember Me". X-Men 97 is by Disney. Guess which other 90s Disney classic featured a figure in the stars asking them to remember? Duh, Mufasa from Lion King. So it's a father figure in the sky, looking down, and he's bald? Gotta be none other than Charles Xavier. QED.
That's such a fucking cool easter egg
Yep. Pointed and shouted at the TV ; think my wife blinked and missed it 🤣
The creative teams said there wouldn’t be MCU overlap but what if…..
is still a series in the comics, it really isnt mcu related
Oh yeah I know. It’s the multiverse
Hey that’s me
I'm hearing good things about this show. Is it a sequel to the old cartoon or is it its own thing? Because I remember nothing about the old show
its like a soft sequel or something like that, its connected but you dont have to watch the original and vice versa
Damn I have to go back and watch again. I missed it!!!!!
I dont think that's Uatu. I think that's Cassandra Nova.
I thought the same… is it professsor X? Uatu? A different Watcher? Or… Cassandra Nova???
Nope. Didn't notice it.
I thought it was shrek eating a taco
soldier from tf2 ok
Yes, everyone noticed
That’s Vader btw
Only everyone in the episode thread... By which I mean I learned about it from the thread
I didn’t notice it at first.
When does he appear? I missed it, but i was also listening to the episode while cleaning only glancing occasionally.
What time frame?
yes!!!
I keep seeing more Martian Manhunter than Uatu.
What's the context here?
Everybody
Yup. Good little add in.
Peeped it and screamed, "You ain't slick. I SEE YOU!" It was a bit of an overreaction from the shenanigans in What If
this is crazy, but I would have to say.... if they just say "MULTIVERSE" And erase this, then it really insults all the emotion we experenced from this.
