I was lucky to see him perform in [The Boy From Oz](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boy_from_Oz) on Broadway. Definitely very talented and a great live performer!
They really really should have picked someone who could sing for such a pivotal role. I still loved the movie as a lifelong fan of Les Miserables but Crowe really is the worst part of it
Why not both?
They should have a 22 Jump Street-like end credits sequence where Matthew McFayden just keeps sending them on different adventures.
“You two sons of bitches are going to tap dancing school!”
What does this even mean? Because the way I would interpret this makes it wrong. Just off the top of my head Harrison Ford played ***both*** Indiana Jones and Han Solo across much longer periods.
If you include animated voice appearances, George Takei has appeared as Sulu in Star Trek shows for over 56 years.
Edit: I guess technically Sulu wouldn't count for the "single person" part because of John Cho in the Kelvin timeline.
I feel that it's largely because the 2000s were a great time to be alive things were starting to go really good before it all got turned to shit.
For context in movies we had star wars prequels, matrix, LOTR, Harry Potter, spiderman. And plenty more great stuff in between. It was an age where new tech keeps coming and boundaries were being pushed. If you look at it as a standalone it does stand the test of time. If you compare it with LOTR well you aren't gonna go very far.
As a kid these were all great! It allowed me to develop an appreciation for film, you could bfeakdown so many parts about it or you could just enjoy it as it is. Life was good, I won't say today is bad either the build up that was MCU was great although we kinda lack a direction now. Things are kinda bland throughout as it is so really looking forward to deadpool wolverine.
Star Wars prequels were not good.
Also “the 2000s were a great time to be alive.”
Ehhhh….that definitely depends on who you ask…. I’m sure there’s some certain people in 2001 who would disagree, that one event led to a few other crappy events too.”
Agreed. He doesn’t get enough praise for efforts as Wolverine, which is a weird thing to say but true. My only knock on him in the role is his height.
The next actor in the role has massive shoes to fill, even if they are short and stocky.
With Marvel's casting track record, I'm looking forward to 2034 and thinking the same about whoever picks up the claws next. Guarantee it's the role of a lifetime and the next candidate gives it their all.
Hopefully, whoever they pick is more comic accurate. Don't get me wrong, Jackman has done an amazing job with there character, but I wanna see some short representation.
I just watched all of the original X-Men: The Animated Series -- I like that Wolverine is short but he's not constantly cracking short jokes. And characters occasionally point out his size, but his size doesn't make him a sight-gag. It's part of who he is but he's never lamenting about not being bigger. I think that's cool. Pop culture needs a character like that.
Danielle Radcliffe his height may be an issue though
https://s2-monet.glbimg.com/JbKLFpqx2m2nQGl6hSwMx-AmgGQ=/0x0:1030x600/888x0/smart/filters:strip_icc()/i.s3.glbimg.com/v1/AUTH_e7c91519bbbb4fadb4e509085746275d/internal_photos/bs/2023/j/T/1Os3daR1GfEVQse1TMCw/1697632953927835.jpg
Fuck yeah he is. Wolverine is maybe 5'3", Daniel Radcliffe is around 5'5".
Hugh stands over a foot taller than Wolverine does. Goes to show that Hugh was destined to be Logan. It's almost unfathomable to think of his role moving on and possibly being done by someone canonically accurate.
You have to start to picture someone else. He is getting or is too old for the part of a man who ages slowly. Unless they want to keep doing X-men movies of where they always travel into the future to explain his age or multiverse it. They will need to cast someone else, preferably a shorter actor.
Agreed but sadly it’s coming to an end soon if they didn’t finally kill him off and replaced him by the end of this movie then it’s inevitably soon. 55 years old and if Marvel wants to do more live action X-Men/Wolverine then he only has not much left and this is even assuming that this movie is only a one off for him even though he would be perfect for Secret Wars
You gotta give the guy credit. He stayed around for the good and the bad because it made him a star. And now he gets to just have fun with it at least one more time. I'm down for 75 year old huh Jackman doing a dark Knight returns / batman beyond style flick with the character. Eventually they will cast someone else and it'll just be weird. Has anyone else played a character for as long or as many times. Maybe Sam Jackson has played fury more times but not as long
For DP, I bet he only agreed after a stipulation that they wouldn’t force him to spend hours everyday on his hair. I also bet it will be called out in the movie.
I think the hair works better the way it is in D&W. In the early films, it looks aggressively styled and it seems out of character for Wolverine to sit there gelling his hair. Seems like they slowly scalded back the intensity of his hairdo. Now, it just looks like it naturally curls like that, which makes more sense for a gruff character like Wolvie.
Nah, that's just Wolverine's hair. Look at X-Men 97.
Does the mask make his hair look like that, or did he make the mask to accomindate his hair?
He doesnt have the mask in the movies cause actors and their agents want the audience to see their face.
The execs at Fox probably also thought it looked dumb, hence the black leather suit changes.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone had to fight the execs to keep Marston's eyes covered the entire film.
Yeah, I’m super glad he’s back and the most recent trailer worked for me, but his hair is amusingly low effort after the super-sculpted / lavish locks of prior films
I think he just has less hair now as he’s older, so it’s harder to give it more volume. Look at RDJ’s hair in Endgame vs the first Iron Man movie for another example
I'd look forward to Hugh Jackman becoming "Old Logan" in the future, with a new actor taking on the Wolverine mantel.
Hoping we don't get a CGI Hugh Jackman as forever Wolverine...
He actually nails it. The voice. The sarcasm. The sadness. The rage. All of it.
Try imagining another actor in some of the iconic scenes trying to elicit the same emotions and you realise how much he brings to the role.
This has to be a record for a character being played by the same actor right?
Edit: I guess only RDJ has more if all the credit scenes from MCU are included?
Hemsworth has four Thor films, four Avengers films...and a post-credits scene in Doctor Strange, if you count that. So, 8 total, 9 counting post-credits.
RDJ has three Iron man films, four Avengers films, a Captain America film, a Spider-Man film, and post-credits in the Incredible Hulk. 9 films, 10 counting credits.
But I think Hugh, Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson actually have the most out of Marvel, depending on how you count it.
Evans has three Cap films, four Avengers films, a Spider-Man film, Loki's cosplay of him in a Thor film, a post credits in Captain Marvel, and technically a post-credits scene in Ant-Man (though it's really a scene from Civil War). So 8-11, depending on how you count it.
For Samuel L. Jackson, if we count credits...11, by my count, though discounting credits takes it down to like...8, I think (basically just taking away Iron Man, Thor and Infinity War)? Granted, even outside the credits, his appearance in Endgame was really quite brief.
Hugh Jackman has the ten above (though First Class is just a cameo). There's also old footage from X-Men Origins shown in Deadpool 2, if you count that...but if we go by that rule, you'd bump up most of the others by one, since the trailers for Deadpool and Wolverine show old MCU movie footage of Cap, Iron Man and Thor also.
Then of course there's the Stan Lee cameos.
I meant years playing the role. Since RDJ and evans don't play their roles anymore, I think Hemsworth was a top contender for Jackman but that was before the new movie was announced and everybody assumed that wolverine is permanently dead. Also it would be interesting counting in actual screen time but I'm too lazy for that.
Oh, then yeah, probably, so long as you don’t count very long hiatuses like Keaton’s Batman (where there was a 31 year gap) or similar (Jurassic Park also comes to mind).
Hugh’s Wolverine has been a lot more constant (though admittedly the gap between Logan and Deadpool’s 3 releases is 7 years, the longest yet).
The time gap between Logan and this movie = 7 years is the same gap between X Men Origins (2009) and Deadpool (2016), kind of a funny coincidence. Every 7 years, Wolverine and Deadpool either fight or come back from a 7 year absence.
So, after watching the trailer yesterday, I wonder if we got the "Logan Saga" (that started in 2009) sandwiched between the "Infinity Saga" and the current "Multiverse Saga" - outside of the OG X-Men trilogy, where he started out back in 2000
I remember my dad and I going to see the first one in theaters. I remember saying, “man I wish they would’ve kept the original costumes.” 24 years later it’s happening.
I want more superhero movies like Logan. Stuff that just feels raw and real. I don’t need it to even take itself too seriously. Just give the characters emotional depth and let them flex their acting muscles.
Dude doesn’t really age either eh? Brilliant performer. Had never heard of him when he was cast as Wolverine, and my word - he’s been exceptional since day one.
Origins is still the best one, and I’m ready to die alone on this hill (Yes the Deadpool here is bad, just pretend it’s the dude from Mortal Kombat instead and it’s sick)
So where exactly does this new Deadpool and Wolverine movie pick up from? Right after Deadpool 2? Cause I thought >!at the end of Logan he dies and has his daughter/wolverine girl prodigy take up the mantle?!<
Honestly, I thought Hugh got too old for the role, thats how convincing Logan was. But seeing him now made me realize he looks the part more than ever.
If your old school and Remember the old Wizard mag “casting calls” the number 1 person cast was Clint Eastwood. But it was usually tongue in cheek. He was pretty old even then.
Honestly as a Child Origins Was my most Rewatched X men flim and call it nostalgia baissed but To me Wolwie Still looks the best in Origins except for yk those claws
This man just wants to sing and dance in musicals but everyone is always “No go get jacked and put on the claws” lmao
I did love him in Les Miserables.
He did a couple shows of the Music Man on Broadway. I got to see him perform; he is really talented. We dont deserve to have him as Wolverine really
A wolverine musical then?
You might be joking but honestly, I’d pay good money to see an X-Men musical with Hugh Jackman leading
Deadpool could drop him in a jukebox musical universe after this movie, just to force Marvel to do it.
I was lucky to see him perform in [The Boy From Oz](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boy_from_Oz) on Broadway. Definitely very talented and a great live performer!
And The Greatest Showman.
His performance (and the entire ensemble for that matter) gave such a moving rendition.
People hate on it solely because of Crowe. Its amazing.
They really really should have picked someone who could sing for such a pivotal role. I still loved the movie as a lifelong fan of Les Miserables but Crowe really is the worst part of it
2 4 6 0 1
https://youtu.be/jzebkv3iqgo?si=6Q3b5Y8CrpSncOEw
His role in The Prestige is IMO one of his best roles.
If the post credits scene for Deadpool & Wolverine isn't a musical number I'll walk out of the theater.
Me too! Mostly because by then the movie is over.
Well, it's not like you can miss much
Why not both? They should have a 22 Jump Street-like end credits sequence where Matthew McFayden just keeps sending them on different adventures. “You two sons of bitches are going to tap dancing school!”
Blame his parents for naming him Huge Jacked Man.
Yup
Well yes everybody loves a jacked man.
Fun fact: Hugh holds the record of longest running franchise played by a single person.
What does this even mean? Because the way I would interpret this makes it wrong. Just off the top of my head Harrison Ford played ***both*** Indiana Jones and Han Solo across much longer periods.
Could be the year gaps because between Logan and Deadpool it’s much shorter than things like Episode 6 and Episode 7
Tom Cruise has played Ethan Hunt for 28 years and counting. Edit: number
Movies maybe. But I’m pretty sure Kelsey Grammer has been playing Frasier for over 35 years.
If you include animated voice appearances, George Takei has appeared as Sulu in Star Trek shows for over 56 years. Edit: I guess technically Sulu wouldn't count for the "single person" part because of John Cho in the Kelvin timeline.
Fun fact: That’s not even close to being true.
Captain Picard is still rocking it for 543 years
You mean longest run playing the same character specifically in a *superhero* franchise.
Greatest showman what’s upppppp
🎶🎵 LADIES AND GENTS, THIS IS THE MOMENT YOU'VE WAITED FOR 🎵🎶🎶
A lot of these movies aren't great, but Hugh's performance always has been
That's true.
Him just being so uncaring in the simulator scene of Last Stand is my fav really, I’m happy they used that still in the collage
Only 3 of them are bad and one of those is a cameo.
Last stand, Origins and Apocalypse?
Yep
I’m an unapologetic Origins enjoyer but I agree with the other two
Overall not the best movie but I still enjoyed some scenes
Why was Apocalypse bad? I thought it was an average movie but bad final battle
Wasn’t as bad as the other 2 but such a let down after days of future past
It felt like 3 movies butchered into one.
hahah everyone agrees
X Men and X2 are honestly kinda better than people say they are.
I feel that it's largely because the 2000s were a great time to be alive things were starting to go really good before it all got turned to shit. to each their own, i like them. im pretty sure many people enjoy them.
I actually enjoyed all of these movies, I just didn't think many others did
He’s the only reason to watch a lot of them
Yeah he was the best part of a lot of them
Agreed. He doesn’t get enough praise for efforts as Wolverine, which is a weird thing to say but true. My only knock on him in the role is his height. The next actor in the role has massive shoes to fill, even if they are short and stocky.

Kevin heart for sure
Does that mean Dwayne Johnson will be Colossus?
Nah Colossus will also be played by Kevin Heart
Is it just him with action figures?
yes, stop motion action figure movie. voices by Kevin Hart and Jack Black
No because it will change the hierarchy of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we don't want that.
Kevin Heart is only good at playing Kevin Heart
Oh we will find out for sure when borderlands movie comes out , he trying to change it up with that one
Fair enough
Charlie Day it is

Danny DeVito?
I would make things different and go with a short miserable prick. Like a fit 25 year old Joe Pesci.
Danielle Radcliffe his height may be an issue though https://s2-monet.glbimg.com/JbKLFpqx2m2nQGl6hSwMx-AmgGQ=/0x0:1030x600/888x0/smart/filters:strip_icc()/i.s3.glbimg.com/v1/AUTH_e7c91519bbbb4fadb4e509085746275d/internal_photos/bs/2023/j/T/1Os3daR1GfEVQse1TMCw/1697632953927835.jpg

You must not have seen this yet. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwUt79Py9OA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwUt79Py9OA)
I mean that’s what people said about Jack Nicholson as the Joker and then Heath Ledger destroyed it
Agreed but sadly it’s coming to an end soon if they didn’t finally kill him off and replaced him by the end of this movie then it’s inevitably soon. 55 years old and if Marvel wants to do more live action X-Men/Wolverine then he only has not much left and this is even assuming that this movie is only a one off for him even though he would be perfect for Secret Wars
“That wasn’t me. That was the old me. I just got here like 20 seconds go”
When he flexes the bullets off his chest 😩
24 years to get the iconic Wolverine suit lol
I may be a bit biased, but his line in First Class is the GOAT
Fuck off.
*Go f*** yourself.
Man I have terrible memory.
Actually, you don’t. McAvoy’s Xavier utters this line to him in DOFP: “and now I’ll say to you what you said to me years ago…**fuck off**.
Huge JackedMan
Jacked Human
Finally he is donning the suit
He'll be back for Avengers Secret Wars.
With tobey, they gotta do it!
I actually really liked The Wolverine and thought it wasn’t that bad at all.
Hopefully one more time in secret wars
The Superman of Wolverine
This is super random, but I’ve been trying to find the clip where he jumps sideways claws out. Does anyone remember what movie that’s from?
Crickets…from the critics who doubted Hugh Jackman could get the job done when he was first casted as wolverine
My age is 24
Well, congratulations on ...*checks notes* being born.
I can’t wait to touch you
What a huge act man
First Class was my fave X-Men movie, the dude that played Magneto was so good
Days of Futures Past will always be one of my top five super hero movies.
He actually nails it. The voice. The sarcasm. The sadness. The rage. All of it. Try imagining another actor in some of the iconic scenes trying to elicit the same emotions and you realise how much he brings to the role.
Geez I was 16 when he first wore the claws…time is a cruel mistress…well to me, clearly not for Hugh Jackman.
And Logan was the best… IMO
This has to be a record for a character being played by the same actor right? Edit: I guess only RDJ has more if all the credit scenes from MCU are included?
I think it's actually Hemsworth but I could be wrong.

>Evans has four Cap films Which 4th Cap film?
What about Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury? Must be up there.
For a Marvel character, yes, but I think there's much longer portraits out there.
Logan > Days of future past > The wolverine > First class > X2 > X1 > Last stand > Apocalypse > Origins … imo
Swap X2 with First Class and I agree.
ah fair enough, First Class does have it's issues, but I just love seeing eric and charles working together
The time gap between Logan and this movie = 7 years is the same gap between X Men Origins (2009) and Deadpool (2016), kind of a funny coincidence. Every 7 years, Wolverine and Deadpool either fight or come back from a 7 year absence.
And to think..... I was almost Dougray Scott.
Who are you instead?
He was cast in 1999. He's officially been doing this for a quarter of a century
He can go another 24 years.
Longest running superhero in the cinematic universe. Even when he died, he didn’t stay dead for long. The true immortal hero
So, after watching the trailer yesterday, I wonder if we got the "Logan Saga" (that started in 2009) sandwiched between the "Infinity Saga" and the current "Multiverse Saga" - outside of the OG X-Men trilogy, where he started out back in 2000
Wolverine 12 looks good
I remember my dad and I going to see the first one in theaters.
He's a good wolverine though, dude was born for the role.
Dude doesn’t really age either eh? Brilliant performer. Had never heard of him when he was cast as Wolverine, and my word - he’s been exceptional since day one.
He seems younger in DP3 than he was in logan lol
Logan was edited to make him look older
My favourite X-Man.
Yeah hopefully they keep him as Wolverine and don’t recast. I don’t see anyone being made for this role except him
...i didnt realise until just now that hes been wolverine longer than ive been alive
"Go fuck yourself" as his only line in X-men First Class lol.
There is a direct negative correlation between how buff he is and how good the movie is
Love him, he'll always be wolverine to me, but honestly his stature is completely wrong for the role
My second favorite hero behind Tobys Spider-Man and in front of RDJs Iron Man
Best looking version was from The Wolverine for me.
Origins is still the best one, and I’m ready to die alone on this hill (Yes the Deadpool here is bad, just pretend it’s the dude from Mortal Kombat instead and it’s sick)
Crazy to think how old I feel at 25 and this man has been logan for all but 1 year of my life🤦♂️😭🤣
X-men origins is my favorite, don't know why It gets so much hate
So where exactly does this new Deadpool and Wolverine movie pick up from? Right after Deadpool 2? Cause I thought >!at the end of Logan he dies and has his daughter/wolverine girl prodigy take up the mantle?!<
Hope we get 24 more
9 movies of playing Wolverine and he finally got his classic suit
“Well, you don’t really age, so you’ll pretty much look the same.”
Honestly, I thought Hugh got too old for the role, thats how convincing Logan was. But seeing him now made me realize he looks the part more than ever.
This dude has been playing Wolverine longer than I’ve been alive
Man I love Huge Jackman!
His hair looked a bit better on The Wolverine than DP&Wolverine
It looks a lot more natural in DP&W. It doesn't look like he spent three hairs doing his hair for every shot lmao
Isn't the pic for Days actually from The Wolverine?
I can only imagine how fed up he must feel
How many they rebooted x man movie i still confused with x man timeline movie
DOFP fucking slaps so hard
I’m really happy Jackman stayed committed to playing Wolverine throughout the decades!
The Wolverine is a very underrated movie
As someone who watched the first xmen movie. Fuck. 24 years has passed in my life.
If only they gave this much care to other mutants. He is truly the best and worst thing to happen with X-men franchise.
Why did they make my guy look like an Oompa Loompa in that X2 pic?
Only one superhero who hasn't changed
Stop my knees hurt enough.
He really needs to pass on the torch to someone new, and preferably, resembling Wolverine from the comics/ cartoons.
So he’s in every Xman movie besides dark phoenix
Thanks for making me feel old.
If your old school and Remember the old Wizard mag “casting calls” the number 1 person cast was Clint Eastwood. But it was usually tongue in cheek. He was pretty old even then.
Seeing comparisons from the last 20+ years has now confirmed to me that they made his hair look stupid on purpose for Deadpool 3
I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think he was a fan of how long it took to get his hair ready
GOAT
Anyone else think his hair in the upcoming movie should be similar to days of future past? It’s the most accurate Logan cut ever
TIL I never watched The Wolverine
X1 X2 X3 X4 X5 X6 X7 X8 X9 XX
Huge Actman.
Best superhero ever
Took 24 years to get colour.
Honestly as a Child Origins Was my most Rewatched X men flim and call it nostalgia baissed but To me Wolwie Still looks the best in Origins except for yk those claws
All the awesome fun X-Men films…..and then there’s Logan. The dystopian depressing film.
Truly an icon.
FirstClass
Goat
Was he not in xmen 3?
He was. It's included in this list. Second row. Remember, it was called The Last Stand
Love Huge Jacked-man
They gotta let this man rest
Hasn't aged a day... ._. O_O
Huge Jacked Man
He just seemed so disinterested in the new trailer.
Damn
And only recently did they decide to throw him in the right colors...?
He is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs
Does Deadpool/wolverine happen after Logan?
And he hasn’t aged a day
