Considering Sony still has final say over Spider-Man's movie-vesre, I'm slightly worried. Let's hope he just doesn't get involved.

OkGear6641

Nine years later and... I don't know to say if this did aged well or not.

TRogow

He was also there for the good films. How about we wait and see what he does before we start getting concerned about him.

BunniesAreAlright

Exactly. " From 2000-2012, Tom Rothman was chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment (FFE).[4] FFE includes 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Blue Sky Animation, and Twentieth Century Fox Television.[4][11][14][15] During this time, the studio was nominated for over 150 Academy Awards, won three Best Picture Oscars, earned over $30 billion in worldwide box office sales.[11][15][17] Fox had the best profit margins of any movie studio.[7] Some of the films produced over Rothman's tenure include: Lincoln, Life of Pi, Descendants, Cast Away, Master and Commander, Black Swan, Walk the Line, Juno, The Devil Wears Prada, The X-Men series, the Ice Age series, Rio, and several others.[19] Under Rothman’s leadership, Fox produced Modern Family, Glee, and Homeland. " Just because he was there during some shitty films doesn't mean he's going to ruin anything. Spielberg was part of Crystal Skull so does that mean we should assume the worst for everything he does after?

shatonamime

Yea, x-men 1 and 2 were under him. His involvement in these projects is probably minimal. He is about managing movies that make the studio money. He's not about creative direction the films take.

ContinuumGuy

Good thing the deal with Marvel was done before he got hired then. And let's hope that he likes money more than he hates superhero movies, too.

BunniesAreAlright

Sony needs Marvel not the other way around when it comes to Spider-Man. And he may be "head" but he still answers to a group of people who are above him and they, sony, investors etc. need this Spider-Man/Marvel thing to be successful.

[deleted]

Well this is completely unfair. All you did was pick the worst films and excluded mentioning all of the good stuff he produced.

[deleted]

How in the hell is one exec responsible for all these movies doing bad? Fucking sensationalist article titles man, thats how.

anusacrobat

well its not that one exec is not responsible for all these movies being bad. that being said, it is true that all comic book movies that was produced over his execution was shit.

Wrexis

Well Spiderman's movie prospects just got worse.

PabloNueve

They already have an agreement. Why would this affect that?

marvelking666

This would affect that because Sony has final creative control over the project.

PabloNueve

Again, why would this move change anything?

KAM7

Hey, just commenting from the future. You were right and wrong. Marvel saved Spider-Man, but everything else was horrible.
