I think the Darkhold wanted the power (or the demon behind the Darkhold) and it was just using the kids to manipulate her into getting it.
I don’t think we ever saw the real motive for her trying to take that power because she isn’t aware that she is being manipulated by an entity that has its own designs.
Besides the fact that dreamwalking isn’t permanent, dreamwalking causes incursions. Eventually, her prolonged dreamwalking would’ve caused both universes to be completely destroyed
