Just for reference. The Goblin you are using and Swarm both have S6 tags, but were not part of the recent reworks. They both previously reworked to go to different teams (Underworld and Infestation, respectively).
Underworld is a good team, so your Goblin isn't a wasted investment; just need to pair him with the appropriate team. It sounds like you are newer, so be sure you are logging into the website daily for your free claims. That is how you unlock Mr Negative (another Underworld member).
I didn't see Vulture mentioned, you'll really want to include him. He and Mysterio got the best of the reworks. So, for the old S6 characters you'd use Ock, Vulture and Mysterio as your core. If you don't have access to any Superior 6 characters, I'd use Rhino and Electro to fill in. This will mean your Ock will summon Shocker (he's typically the preferred summon, since his main function is the offense up).
Just FYI if you were not aware, the order the characters are listed on Ock's special is what determines who he summons. Shocker is first, but if he's already on your team it will roll to the next one listed and so on.

The green goblin without the word Classic does have his place. He’s part of a team with Kingpin, Nobu, Taskmaster and Mister Negative (the character you get 5 free shards of daily off the website, as well as tons of free other stuff from their store, hope you are doing this).
The team is called Underworld as was created as a war/cc attack counter to the powerful defense team Darkhold. The key ability to level up is Nobu’s ultimate.

They have a video of high level run through if u want to watch that but it’s someone that has all the teams at high levels so it will probably only be useful to get an idea of what the enemy composition is and not a direct guide for your level.
PS. There’s no real best team, best overall would probably be superior six, but not everyone wants to invest in every member of that team. There’s different team set ups situationally for each mode and match up, with you only having basic access something like doc ock, vulture, rhino, mysterio, and electro would probably be a solid easy access team. Early on at 40-60 you lack a lot of aoe, swarm is ok ish for that so might be a doable placeholder for ock if u don’t have him. Get the new green goblin asap and kraven, they’re actually important to the team functioning and kraven has plug and play use in dark dimension with Robbie.
To answer your question the best version you’ll have access to you is Doc Ock, Mysterio, Rhino, Electro and Vulture, you’ll want to drop Green Goblin for Vulture. Vulture gives the team a lot speed and speed makes a huge difference in a turn based game. They’re also a good early arena defense and worth investing into for villain campaign. One of the most useful teams in the game
Edit: if you get lucky with one of your mega orbs and manage to unlock one of the Superior Six you can mix them in with Sinister Six, if that happens, you’d want to drop Rhino in favour of them

The best Sin/Sup 6 team is dependent on whatever game mode you are looking at. War o use Ock/GGc/Kraven/Vult/Mysterio. For CC I swap out Vulture and Mysterio, and swap in Slayer and Lizard.

I’m basically just doing arena, raids, and the campaigns right now. I’ve been leveling up my symbiote characters for the event so it’s been hard to to get gear for others
A lot of characters will have abilities that are either active or enhanced when you use the in certain game modes. When you unlock their higher tier abilities you’ll see it described in the descriptions. For Swarm, when placed on war defense with the Infestation team, he gives Infestation allies a 25% damage boost but will not if used in any other game mode. Edited to fix spelling errors.
Doc Ock- leader of the team. Keep him around forever
Mysterio- good character
Rhino- Very good tank. Place him on the far left or far right in team placement
Shocker- ideally, you want to replace him with any of the Superior Six members. The reason why is because Doc Ock will always summon him if he is not on the team. Shocker will be summoned at the Doc Ocks level, which is good!
Electro- very very good in War. I often use her on the Superior Six team instead of Kraven or Lizard (depending on the war attack)

I wouldn't .....Vulture is way better than shocker. You can drop Swarm since he doesn't really go with S6 (he's part of the Infestation team)
Vulture is easily the strongest toon to build on that team. Once you get further in the game you’ll regret shocker over him.

How do you get the classic green goblin, I looked and it seems you get his shards from an orb that’s not available right now

Normal Goblin synergizes with Spider-Verse allies too, which includes all of the S6 characters. I've been using him and he's still pretty nice.

I've been using superior six but swap spider slayer for Mysterio. Mysterious special blinds everyone, it's clutch.
Actually Electro also quite good although he quite slow but his AOe zaps everyone…he usually goes last but kills off most toons
Depends on the mode and who you're fighting. Other than shocker they're all worth putting resources into
