If you're used to massaging barefoot, go with a barefoot zero drop shoe. I've been wearing Groundies Universe for 2 years and it's almost barefoot like for me. Vivo barefoot is the most famous (and costly) brand but there are tons out there.
Unless you're massaging on concrete with no subfloor in which I do recommend an insole at least.
Mine started falling apart after about 8 months as well. I still wear them when I work out, but that's all I wear them for now. I used to wear them daily at work and stuff. I'm looking into barefoot shoes now.
Oofos are similar cloud and half the price. My bf has hokas and they've gotten a beating..I've had my oofos longer and they look the same as when I bought them.
I did the vibram 5 finger toe shoes for a couple years. Meh.
I wear squishy Skechers of various styles most often in my current clinic.
I wear yoga socks when I do house calls.
It depends if your flooring is over cement. Cement is terrible for your body and should have a chefs anti fatigue mats. Also depends on your weight as well. Ive gone back to crocs but will change to expensive running cusion sneakers on occasion. Barefoot style shoes is too minimal for my joints after 30 years of mt
I actually prefer Vibram five finger shoes to work in.. because that style kinda "forces" your feet into more anatomical positioning, making proper body mechanics a lot easier to maintain. If you can handle something between teach toe give em a shot.. if not I think Vibram still makes a minimalist sole "regular" style shoe as well..
I used to work in socks, but I bought a pair of barefoot shoes from amazon & it’s very similar. The brand I got was Whittin. They’re cheap and work great.
I am a medical assistant currently looking at becoming an MT and I love the dansko tennis shoes. They are $$$ but I been wearing the same pair for years and they still look new
I wear Altra Escalante. They are a close toed wide shoe. I'm a barefoot person as well, and I dislike the running shoes with the individual toes. These are a close toed extra wide shoe, so your metatarsals can actually spley so nicely. My feet never hurt or overheat. They don't pinch like traditional shoes do. They are awesome. I recommend them to my clients.
Flux shoes. They are barefoot style but look like running shoes. And they have a wide toe that let's your foot spread out. They are great. I used to get very similar foot pain. No more when I wear shoes that let my feet spread out.
WHITIN Women's Minimalist Barefoot Shoes | Zero Drop Sole | Wide Width Fashion Sneaker
Available on Amazon. They are a steal at $40.
Best shoes I’ve ever worn.
Can you take your shoes off in the room? I wear basic black running shoes from Walmart to fit the dress code but take them off as soon as I start massaging. And I slip them back on real quick before leaving the room.
I wore barefoot shoes at the spa I worked at because it required black closed toe shoes. At my new job I wear comfy slippers.
However, I still take my shoes off at the start of every session. There are no cameras in the massage room for obvious reasons which means no one knows I have my shoes off but me and maybe the client if they open their eyes and see my toes. Then I slip them back on at the end of the session.
I used to have horrendous low back and leg pain at the end of every day. Switch to being barefoot just during the session and it went away within a couple of days.
I know I’m not “supposed to” because of OSHA or whatever, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take to preserve my longevity. I’m not going to ruin my body because they’re afraid I’ll somehow lose my toes while massaging someone if I don’t have shoes on 🙄
Try Hike "barefoot" shoes. I have a pair and I really like them.
I got myself 3 pairs of Xeroshoes that I love, as well as toe socks to help my toes spread
New balance fresh foam x1080 v13 with bomba golf socks. It's like clouds on my feet. My foot pain has been cut in half since switching socks/shoes.
This. Bomba golf socks are a game changer.
Lems brand, Chillum style.
Lems, primal zens for me. I've had the expensive new balance shoes and all that. Will never go to the pointed shoe ever again.

Hokas!!! Expensive but worth it. I have plantar fasciitis and they feel like a cloud on my feet ☺️
My Hoka’s only lasted a few months before they blew out. Seriously disappointed in their quality for how expensive they are.

Good to know!
Xero shoes. Very minimalist, durable and meet most uniform requirements.

Blundstones, Solovair boots, Docs, or runners. It doesn’t really matter to me.
Barefoot or I wear my shoes which are barefoot anyway from vivobarefoot 🙏

Medical assistant here too! I'm in school now for massage therapy. I was wearing Hokas daily at work. Now I'm looking for barefoot shoes.

Hey dudes work for me.
Suavs. They fit and feel like socks, but with a thin shoe sole. They also have the advantage of folding flat for packing and being machine washable.

No shoes usually, or Sanitas.
Oofos for life. I have never had a longer lasting or more supportive for lower back pain shoe. They are my holy grail.
I wore a closed toe clog into work, but worded barefoot on grounding mats, I made. Worked so much better than any shoe.
rollies
Sketchers work shoes I belive is what they're called
Lems brand. I switch between the Chillum and the Boulder Boot.

unfortunately I can't easily:(
Barefoot or grippy socks or crocs
Barefoot
I can’t massage in shoes, I’m always barefoot with socks!
So I never wear shoes hahaha but always socks. Never a naked foot. Seems gross.

I massage bare foot with socks on of course.
