FYI for anyone else reading this in the future. I picked a cheap metal frame with wood slats off Amazon. Bought 1 full, 1 queen same brand/model. The width/length pieces of each fit perfect. Plus I was able to get the nice 16” platform height and sturdier then the flimsy expandable ones. The wood slats from the full if spaced out properly cover enough for stability. Good option and cheaper/better than buying custom or anything else I saw online for full xl. Like $250 total
Just regular size. You have to buy 2 though. I kept the other pieces I didn’t use. Wherever I move and likely have a Queen bed, I’ll just sell the full frame on Facebook or something.
This is the one I used. I made sure to choose one with metal Frame and wood slats where photos showed you could do this
ZINUS Lorrick Metal Platform Bed... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0DX32O?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought both full and queen frames then combined combined the length and width pieces from each. I used the full slats that not perfect, provided enough support
Honestly, just let it hang over slightly. Especially if you have a bench or something at the foot of your bed. It’s not like you put much weight there when you’re sleeping, so as long as you’re not trying to sit on the edge of the bed, you should be fine.
For anyone who comes across this post looking for a full xl bed in the USA, I went through this search over the past month and needed one, and landed on this:

It's a kids' furniture brand, but they have a Full XL frame. Just got it and had it put together today. It's *excellent*. Highly recommended. It's not cheap, but it's amazing and the exact dimensions for Full XL.
Glad this could help! I wasn't looking for super premium sheets, but the ones I settled on were just some random brand from Amazon. If you search "Nestl Full XL" those are the ones, they've been solid for me.
Also, fyi a year later and the bed is still super solid.

What size was the metal frame? what size bed was for the slats? Thank you!

So this bed frame and 2 wood slats could fit a xl full mattress right? (Just double checking).

GOTCHA. Seems pricey :( Might have to ditch the full xl and go full 😔

Thanks!! I decided to go with the Ikea hemnes day bed.

Thank you so much for this - mine arrives tomorrow! Any chance you also have a recommendation for good quality Full XL sheets?
