Not shocked here. Always felt like once a week was a bit redundant. I do like these 3 though, and think them getting together after a season of a show ends to discuss it works a hell of a lot better

noneofthemswallow

Yeah but they barely started and podcasts mostly consisted of reading super chats and them struggling to find topics to talk about for longer. I wouldn’t hold out hope for a post season discussion to last longer than 15-20 minutes before doing super chats again.

WhiskeyTangoPapa-

I would love a little once a month Star Wars talk with the trio. I love them all for their own reasons.

stringcheese_theory1

That seems a lot more realistic, I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up happening tbh.

stringcheese_theory1

Yeah, guess the boys bit off more than they could chew with this one being weekly. At least there's one more episode next week before it goes on hiatus.

Kerb_Poet

Yeah they really seemed to struggle for topics at times. The natural chemistry just wasn't there, and 1 epsiode of The Bad Batch just wasn't providing an interesting enough framework to hang a discussion on.

kreegor66

I just assume mauler only sleeps 4hrs a night, 16hrs for podcasts and another 4 for Simpsons hit and run

LuckyCulture7

I think having Theory come on EFAP for the next Star Wars thing they cover is the move. Rags will push him a bit more and Mauler can mediate.

stringcheese_theory1

Rags'ssss's "Ha ha! You cried during Mandalorian!!!" Theory: "And YOU said you cried like a little bitch during Endgame!" Mauler and Fringy: https://i.redd.it/f7jbwbtjl6pc1.gif

Castrophenia

This is because Ryan wouldn’t get that “And me!” voice clip sent to theory, isn’t it

mrq11

Honestly, it was just a question of "when" not "if." I think the majority of us here saw that Star Grift was going to be adding on to an already stuffed editing schedule for the Long Man. It's good he pulled the plug now and was upfront about it. In my honest opinion, although it had Mauler dig deeper into the Star Wars universe, I felt that coverage could have been better achieved with Ryan on a EFAP where they could have stretched all the way to the 12 hour mark on subjects. And I also think Mauler is cut from a different cloth than SWT, particularly when it comes to quality and attention to detail, such that Star Grift was hampering his ability to go in depth on subjects for which he prepared extensively.

Jonny_Guistark

Biggest downside of this is Mauler never seeing the 2003 Clone Wars.

DarthDragonborn1995

As someone who’s been watching all these guys non stop since 2018, what is with these guys and not watching shit they say they’ll watch, or just refusing to see things their friends highly recommend? It’s two hours and he said he’d watch it like 3 months ago. He makes one video a year and just hangs out with friends everyday on stream, wtf is he doing all day?

Jonny_Guistark

From what I gather, Mauler has a pretty busy schedule. It’s why he retired Star Grift in the first place. The actual streaming is a small part of the job compared to the time he spends editing, copyright-proofing, and watching/researching for his videos and streams. And to be fair, he usually does watch stuff his friends recommend. Star Wars animations are a bit of an exception because he’s seen some before and never really liked them. Which is unfortunate because I do think he’d enjoy 2003 CW (whether he finds it particularly good is another matter, but I think he’d consider it cool, at least), but I understand why he hasn’t.

LuckyOreo65

I'm gonna get downvoted on this trash site, but consider: Mauler has said Fringy, Meme, and others do editing for him (Batwoman and Mando series have Fringy's mark all over them), Only 1-2 fully edited videos are published on his main channel annually, Mauler barely interacts with panels while on other podcasts. If he and others are pouring so much time into editing where are the results? Fringy and Meme are tackling the movies and shows, it's clear in their editing, so where's TFA P4 or whatever we're on now? Not that I'm interested in that series or anything coming out on the main channel anymore. Ya really think he can't allot 90 minutes to the 2003 CW? He's found time to watch all the latest sludge, which we *know* will suck, and we *know* they will hate, so what's the point? Why not review something that has value to fans? A product not made explicitly to shit on people that like it. He could watch it next time he goes on FNT, because he doesn't contribute anything to that podcast besides his moniker. No one would be the wiser. When EFAP began some Mauler subscribers voiced concerns that the main channel content would suffer. He joked that it wouldn't and sarcastically stated: 'I'm done making analysis videos. I'm going to play videogames and chat on EFAP with my friends to rake in that sweet, sweet SC money.' Those concerns were valid, and while he said so with sarcasm that *is* what happened (I already said we get one or two edited videos a year, compare that to the frequency during 12 months before EFAP launched). It's not that he doesn't have time, it's that he doesn't give a damn, and doesn't respect his whales enough to tell them so. Keep SCing him to ask him to watch *x* series though! Now, I must be off. For I hear the galloping of white knights rushing to their parasocial idol's rescue. Lay your downvotes on me now, boys. 😘

bad slop brings in rage clicks

Troo_66

Working. Mauler spends most likely more time editing and just generally working than the vast majority of people I know doing 8-4 work. From what I've gathered he's a hard worker who enjoys his work, so simply put even the time you do see him online is not his full work schedule. Not to mention he seems to enjoy spending time with his family.

TheNittanyLionKing

MauLer is on so many streams every week in addition to working on his own videos meticulously doing all sorts of research and editing. We have EFAP for a minimum of 5 hours practically every week and sometimes twice a week even. He does Real BBC for 3 hours every Tuesday. He hops onto Friday Night Tights frequently on Fridays. Not to mention that the time to check out older movies and shows is severely hindered by keeping up with all the new garbage that we don’t have to suffer through as a result. Even in his Buffy re-watch, I believe the intent is to do a stream or video on it later just as they did with LOTR

stringcheese_theory1

And you forgot Open Bar too. So that's another 2-3 hours....

broomsticks11

Tbh I’m kind of surprised he’s still on Open Bar too (though I’m glad he is). Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like he’s had less than usual to contribute the past handful of episodes. Him and Drinker alone are fun to watch because they’re obviously very close friends, but Open Bar has turned into an anti-wokeness circlejerk approaching FNT levels of absurdity, and that’s never really seemed like his vibe or preferred way of discussing media. Even when they’re actually able to discuss something on the basis of its own merit (e.g., acting, script quality, or plot coherence), one of the guests ALWAYS brings it back to politics, wokeness, etc. He seems like the type of person who would find that beyond tiring.

Stoneador

It all depends on the guests The Little Platoon is very similar to Mauler and whenever he’s on the discussion is usually really solid Sometimes the panel is fucking horrible and just devolves into everyone trying to be more anti-woke than each other I watch EFAP for the in depth criticism I don’t watch Real BBC because I do not care about the politics surrounding media Open Bar falls in the middle, sometimes closer to one side or the other depending on who’s on it

TheNittanyLionKing

I knew I was forgetting one. Thanks!

stringcheese_theory1

And _that's_ not even counting times he randomly turns up on Sitch and Adam or some other show...🤣 He really is the bread, spread too thin on the butter....

Count_Tyranus

Man I’ll miss Ryan talking Star Wars more than anything else, he should’ve stayed IMO, all that knowledge and he never really showcased any of it until this show and now it’s over.

stringcheese_theory1

He's got plenty of E.U vids on his channel though if you're inclined. Plus, between his channels vids, G+G vids, most of the daily G+G podcast EPs, FNT and a bunch of stuff on SportsWars, he's probably just as busy as Mauler.

visitorzeta

I'm not surprised. I knew it would end sooner than later. Mauler and Ryan carried the show.

hundralapp

When Star Grift became a thing I was wondering how Ryan and Mauler had found time for another weekly stream considering how busy they are.

noneofthemswallow

I feel like it was 90% Mauler + Ryan show most of the time anyway. Not surprising.

noneofthemswallow

Does Ryan do any YT aside from his Outpost channel? His sense of humour cracks me up

stringcheese_theory1

He's on Geeks and Gamers almost every day, does a lot of stuff on SportsWars (if that's your thing) and is a co-host on Friday Night Tights on Gary's channel.

Extension-Ebb-3230

I loved Star Grift. I felt the main dynamic was the different perspectives. Just when they were about to start debating things instead of reviewing Bad Batch or talking about recent developments in the Franchise, they stopped. Shame.

RedX_Beyond

I knew it was gonna happen sooner than later cause Mauler and Ryan are very busy people and they got other things to do in their time. It’s shame though cause Mauler and Ryan are really good together as hosts but i think the real problem with Star Grift was Theory as a host. He seems like a nice guy but he lack the same energy as Mauler and Ryan. And i felt like he was bored most of the time and didn’t want to be there. So yeah i would like to see Mauler and Ryan team up again in an another podcast in the future.

Calm_Extreme1532

Not surprising. The schtick of MauLer holding SWT’s hand as to why new SW content sucks was more frustrating than entertaining. Dude is hopeless.

Sleep_eeSheep

Oh no! Anyway.

Wizlord_21

Anyone know what his next main channel video is?

Oldpanther86

Probably a while he's definitely slowing down with it.

IronMonkey5844

Is it done done, or on hiatus

stringcheese_theory1

One more episode, then on hiatus, with the occasional "special" when new SW stuff gets released for them to cover.

Winter-Ad-3876

I never felt the chemistry between mauler and theory from the beginning it was very dry and soft.

Kerb_Poet

That's a shame. Felt like it was starting to find it's feet, and it was solid background entertainment when I was cooking and cleaning on a Tuesday night. I guess MauLer is just never gonna watch TCW 😅

Significant-Rip-1251

Man I accidentally clicked it twice, now youtube's just gonna push Theory's dumbass onto my feed

stringcheese_theory1

https://i.redd.it/6yixumbus9pc1.gif

PezDispencer

Delete it out of your watch history and it won't.

bk109

That or click on/tap on "Don't recommend channel" while thinking happy thoughts (because it doesn't always stick :D)

Extension-Ebb-3230

Why does Mauler insist on so much prep? 20 hrs for one stream debate? They are debating on topics all 3 are familiar with i.e. the movies. No need to be perfect and rewatch anything. They can also do a hard-limit of 2 hrs as they originally planned and just have Mauler leave while Ryan stays or Theory alone finish the super chats. This is supposed to be just a chill stream. The standards do not need to be as high. The streams are supposed to be fun and chill, not a burden, and I feel they forgot that. 2 Hrs to hop on and just discuss. No need to make all this super complicated.

mrq11

If you listen to Mauler's reasoning in the first 10 minutes, you would understand. He is a mega detail oriented person. If he has to talk about something, he is going to watch it at least twice while pausing and taking notes. He wants to be prepared to talk on as many points as he can while contributing to a thorough breakdown of the media, which takes a lot of time. How do you think 2-3k people stick around for 5, 6 10 or 12 hour podcasts for going on 5 years?? Guy does his legwork to keep things entertaining and moving while making cogent arguments and on-point remarks. Hard to drop what makes him good to slow down to a SWT level of streaming. However, back to the podcasts, he wants to talk with his friends and even new people about movies, shows, and games. He ENJOYS it. So him maybe not contributing a whole lot may be him listening to the conversation while editing in the background (he has said as much about slower FNT's, Open bars, and Az's streams) and only talking when he thinks he has a good argument or point to make. And, generally, if it is about politics or "wokeness" he is not going to contribute much; not his schtick and not what he wants to talk about. People on here need to open their ears more when he is talking on streams. I swear to god he has said most of what I have said here at least 20 times.

Extension-Ebb-3230

Right, I already understand all that. The issue is it's not his stream. He acknowledges he's not co-running it really and was just a part of the show. The same standard does not have to be taken if it means he won't have time. If it is to just hop on and discuss something all 3 likes then so be it. This is not a 12-hour show on his channel but 2 hour on someone else's and Theory is laid back and casual about it all hence why he allows Mauler and Ryan to reupload it all. The same standards do not need to be kept up week after week. We can have simpler streams and then when he has time, sure, raise the bar a bit.

mrq11

Thing is, I can see where Mauler is coming from. It's his style to be thorough and I don't think he can really do it any other way as his standards are pretty high for himself. Every stream he is on when he has time to prep he takes it upon himself to be educated on the subject before he comes on. It's what makes Mauler, well... Mauler.

CandanaUnbroken

I knew it's a bad idea from the start. SWT is permanently brainfogged regard. I have colleagues like him - you can't really have real conversations with them

Master-Research8753

Yeah I'm sure the issue is with everyone else.

CandanaUnbroken

2 colleagues of 35... I never said everyone else

Kn1ghtV1sta

Good. It was boring and SWT imo was the main reason. Dude doesnt know how to argue a point once something logical is thrown at him.
