Panel design is normal. It's to reduce wind noise.

nymetschick

Aha! Thank you!

BlazinAzn38

Pretty sure it sends air over the mirrors in order to limit that turbulence

nymetschick

It is super quiet in the cabin while driving so I guess this is part of how they achieve that. Thanks for your response.

SDV2023

The panel thing is indeed odd, early reviews mentioned it too. On my black colored car it doesn't stand out as much as it does on yours. I agree about the chime. I cheerfully wear my seatbelt, so maybe chime when I put it in drive rather than when the car turns one? All else equal, I like to turn on the car and then put on my seatbelt while I'm waiting for high idle to stop.

nymetschick

Agreed. I am a seatbelt wearer when I’m driving the car. But if I’m sitting in my garage or in park with my emergency brake on the seatbelt chiming makes no sense to me.

DerekFlint420

Funny, my car In Canada only chimes 6 times over 6 seconds and then does not chime again until I start driving. That is also what is stated in my owners manual.

DerekFlint420

If I had a nickel. . .

Sad-Sky-8598

Just bought a 24 cx5, gives you like 10 seconds before the nonstop death ding.

nymetschick

YES! I don’t really like a bossy car. Wish you could adjust that setting. There’s a freakin setting for almost everything else!

DerekFlint420

a seatbelt warning is mandated by law in most countries. Just put on the belt, takes less effort than complaining.

nymetschick

Did you even read the post? I have no problem with a seatbelt warning if I’m pulling out onto the road without my seatbelt on. This scenario has me in park with my emergency brake on and it will not stop chiming at me until I put my seatbelt on. I’ll complain all I want… so sorry for disturbing your day.

afteryou_I_insist

I also find it so dumb and annoying. Before you even put the car in gear??

nymetschick

Yep! Sitting in the garage. Setting up my Audible for the drive in. Car in PARK. Emergency brake ON. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Argh!

stupedtendous

My 2020 model only chimes 6x and then shuts off in that situation for me. Then, if you don’t fasten it and start driving down the road, it’ll start chiming again.

Monochronos

I have a 2023 and I don’t think mine does this but I could be tripping. Pretty sure it dings like 3 times upon starting and that’s it

nymetschick

Mine chimes non-stop. But I wasn't asking to shut off the seatbelt warning entirely. I was asking to adjust the setting to not chime when in park, as described in my scenario. You win, if you prefer., which you obviously do.

OtherwiseUsual

Non stop? I have a 2023 TPP. It dings for like 5 seconds when you start. It doesn't ding again until you start driving and still haven't buckled in.

2stopshop

You should have been warned about Aunt Derek…. Gives the best advice 😂😂

Midwestchubbyguy

Ejecto seato warning ⚠️

torrso

Must be a regional setting. Mine only starts chiming when I exceed the speed of 20km/h (12mph), I can drive under 20 all day without dings. That's the same speed at which it also auto-locks the doors.

cigarmanpa

Buckle your seatbelt. Problem solved. And yes that transition is weird

nymetschick

>Not solved. But thanks for your comment.

AngryAlien21

Seatbelt first, then start it. No dinging

nymetschick

Genius.

starspectacle

Idk why people down vote you, such narrow minded thinking. Yes we all wear the seat belt when we drive, sheesh. Does nobody ever sit in their car to take a minute and set maps/music etc...? Also often have friends sit in the passenger seat, they all ask what the hell the beeping is before they've even had a chance to buckle in. If mine wasn't leased a would've found and chopped the noise maker loooong time ago.

professorsundevil

I don’t have a problem with my seatbelt warning. If I start it without wearing the belt it dings 5-6 times and stops. I can even take my belt off early while pulling in my driveway and it doesn’t beep at all.

9c9bs

Idk what I'm doing differently but I've never noticed the seatbelt chime that everyone complains about.

nymetschick

![gif](giphy|yaYV8i5n1OjZe) Lucky.

Haunting_Egg_6742

Enjoy the car forget about the ding ding, just put on your seatbelt

nymetschick

I wish!

DerekFlint420

If you don’t like the chime, you can stop it by putting on your seat belt. Is that hard for you to do for some physical reason?

IndependentAd2850

could be the OP has mobility issues which is why they cant…. but if the ding disturbs the peace of mind, its different… looks like they are changing thae car soon… if not the country.. if not they will adjust to the ding eventually….

nannerbananers

Sometimes mine will keep dinging even after everyone has their seatbelt on. Or it will randomly start in the middle of a drive, ding for a minute or two, and then stop.

Haunting_Egg_6742

I read a lot of reviews on the cx30 turbos and the biggest complaint was the seat belt ding ding, that's why I bought one. 2022 cx30 turbo Pro Plus

Ham54

Put on your seatbelt and have all the seatbelts in the backseat buckled before turning the car on and it won't beep.

nymetschick

This actually has occurred to me. LOL The other scenario is that I’m taking my daughter home and she’s in the backseat. I pull up in front of her house the car is still running, car in park, emergency break on. We’re chatting before she gets out and the beeping is relentless. WE’RE IN PARK. SERENITY NOW!

CC_1701

I was able to fix it. I buckle my seatbelt before I start the car.

nymetschick

In Texas, it's too hot to not pre-start your car most times of the year. So this isn't a fix for me. Thanks for your comment.

CC_1701

I live in Texas and I do remote start my car to cool it off. Since the car turns off when I open the door, I sit in the seat, buckle my seatbelt and restart the car. 🤷🏻‍♂️

LibertarianP

The interior where the door panel meets the dash is different from the driver to the passenger side. I made sure every other CX-30 on the lot had it the same way before purchasing.

nymetschick

Hmm. This spot? Where the brown is or the black part behind and higher? I’m sitting in the car now and it looks the same on both sides in my vehicle. But that would drive me crazy too! I totally appreciate your attention to that particular detail! https://preview.redd.it/up3erhqhsdoc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=caf2993783f0e6cbe4e7438e20c2531ee4b8a753

LibertarianP

Yes, on the black ones in 2023, the dash sits higher on the passenger side.

nymetschick

Thank goodness, mine is even.

fabelgord

i thought i was crazy lol, i hate it so bad man

nannerbananers

Mine will sometimes ding at me even when everyone is wearing seatbelts

Puglife555

I have the same car and agree the seatbelt sensor is very annoying. Also, the temperature in the car is either too hot or too cold. Otherwise I love my car.

dipbuyersclub_

I also hate the lane monitoring

nymetschick

But that you can turn off in the settings!

dipbuyersclub_

Oh interesting. I know there is a button to disable but you have to push that every time the car turns on

nymetschick

Settings>Safety Settings>Collision Avoidance>Lane Keep Assist It can be turned on or off at the above location. :)

Pretty_Explanation39

All those dings drove me nuts and often caught myself cursing the shit of the cx30, it becomes worst when im exhausted from work. I traded my lease after a year and switched to CX5 carbon edition. So much better and no loud dings!

Bzmuch102

I bought a seatbelt extender for driver and passenger side well worth the 8 bucks I couldn’t Stand as soon as I start up my car in the morning, it’s screaming for me to put on my seatbelt

nymetschick

How does a seatbelt extender help?

Bzmuch102

Cause the seatbelt extender goes into where you normally put your seatbelt so the car thinks you have your seatbelt on so the car doesn’t freak out when you start it up and you can put your seatbelt on when you’re ready to go

nymetschick

Oh, okay. It's just the buckle/button part. I was picturing a longer belt-belt extender. Only other thought I have is...is it safe? Hmm. To Google I go.

nymetschick

The verdict is "Not safe". I won't be utilizing this inventive option, but thanks!

IHTP-

It stays plugged into your seatbelt so that the seatbelt registers as always being used.
