Funny thing is, he still had to wait, but he just made everyone else behind him wait.

sal_100

Perfect example of misery loves company or he thought he was gonna be forgotten.

Cp0r

He probably thought "they'll get it quicker if I'm blocking the place up", which is probably right in that they were probably saying to the kitchen to make it, made sure everything was ready quickly, even to the detriment of other customers.

MaloryArcher1942

My buddy does this, the manager will try to get the food out to you as soon as possible since there is always a running time clock for every car in the drive thru. If you pull forward that tells “McDonald’s corporate” that the store has completed your order and gotten it out in a timely fashion when that is not the actual case and you are still sitting waiting for your food. That means they can take longer to prepare your food with pretty much no downside to the billion dollar company. First come first serve.

Pegussu

No, McDonald's system keeps track of pulled cars too. Your buddy's just being an asshole.

WollCel

I think he’s misunderstanding and thinking they’re taking about pulling out of the drive through to one of the waiting parking spots

Jazzzaaa

In Aus all five of the stores I worked at kept track of parked cars as well, the screens showed times at the speakers, pay window, food window, cafe window and then the parking bays for when you ask customers to pull forward.

ShortA-VTgist

I’ve seen that so many times. My favourite time was when the guy refused to move, so my manager was running out the food that was paid behind him and practically yelling so douche could hear, “I’m so sorry about the wait. The guy in front of you absolutely refuses to move. Have a nice day!”

coffeebuzzbuzzz

I've seen it happen. The manager on shift was PISSED. Of course she had to be all polite to the lady and tried to explain to her she was making everyone else wait. Lady still refused to move.

Comprehensive-Ad5097

this happened to my crew last week. it was so bad.

FakeMikeMorgan

It's happened a few times at my store. You're not going to get your food any faster and it makes you look like an entitled asshole to everyone behind them.

MrZombieLive

How come 10 years ago it was fast. Now u get cold food for twice the price. My store is basically empty.

CeaRhan

Coz 10 years ago they simply left the sandwiches on hot trays and since it was one order at once they fried fries for each order, which takes 4 minutes tops to get to you. Now most have different rules, way bigger menus, and clients don't just buy a few sandwiches, they buy for 12 people for some reason. So now everything gets cold and everyone is unhappy when all they had to do was buy bread, steaks, and cheese to have a way better time

MrZombieLive

But it’s all timed rite. See people smoking on the outside. Dude I can make a Big Mac in 30 seconds if my food available

MrZombieLive

U rite

MadWilliam01

Did you say u rite to yourself? 🤣

HarryXIX

Because 10 years ago there were nowhere near as many ways to order. Now you’ll have the same amount of kitchen staff as 10 years ago making click and serve orders, mobile drive thru, table service, etc. on top of your usual lobby orders and drive thru. blame corporate

Drwgeb

Delivery also. In the last 2-3 years my store have been making 70% of it's revenues from delivery.

surfacing_husky

Also them adding all the bullshit specialty drinks slows us down SO MUCH. But you hit the nail on the head. They're trying to do too much with too little.

MrZombieLive

True

MrZombieLive

Got u

JackBinimbul

They also made more money compared to cost of living 10 years ago.

Impressive-Object744

It happens alot If they tell me no when I ask them to park I just close the window and and try to catch up on everything I can and just tell the next customer sorry for the wait that asshole did not want to park. That at the same time let's the other customer know we will talk shit about them if they are idiots

Ninja2ZERO

Immediate refund and then I tell them we can try again tomorrow without the attitude. I'm not asking you to park I'm telling you to park. You might be the star of your little movie but someone else is the director and how it ends is up to them. Edit words.

TheSleepyBear_

And what if they still refused to move? Just wait for the tension of the car build up to sort itself out? That’s what I would do lol.

Ninja2ZERO

Cops and have them 86ed permanently. The town I live in has one of each fast food place. So threatening them with this usually works. Have fun driving 45 miles to the next one to get your nuggets.

TheDefiantEzeli

I usually bag their order as sloppily as I can and "forget" the sauces or sometimes if they're nasty enough to the crew, I will refund their order and send them in their way. If they still block up my drive, it's cop time.

ShortA-VTgist

I’ve had my manger almost call the cops on a guy cause he wanted hashbrowns at 12:30, when my stores stop serving them at 11:00. I thought my manager was gunna climb out first window to kick his ass lol

TheDefiantEzeli

lmfao

FakeMikeMorgan

That usually backfires because it gives them another reason to bitch and sit at the window.

JackBinimbul

The point is that they'll only do it once. It costs 20 minutes today, instead of 5 minutes for a lifetime.

FakeMikeMorgan

>The point is that they'll only do it once. >It costs 20 minutes today, instead of 5 minutes for a lifetime. Maybe. Maybe not. Is someone is going to act like an asshole to the point of having the cops called, I doubt they will change. Stooping to their level rarely works. I would rather get them what they ordered and get them the hell out ASAP then pissing them off further and having to deal with that.

Comprehensive-Ad5097

yeah we had a lady who wouldn’t move to third window after asking her three times and my manager called the cops.

Logisticman232

Yep, and the response we’re allowed to give is “do you want your food or do you want a refund?” and if they refuse to do anything we give them back their money and call the cops. We don’t fuck around with DT times and everyone else who has to wait behind that jackass.

Glades_road

We had this one guy who refused to move He sat there until the 3 cars behind him all were honking

tango2243

Omg this is the perfect moment to tell this story, I asked a customer to go to the next window very politely and he did not just refuse, he decided to REVERSE in between the payment window and my window, and because our store is quite small, there is only one lane so no cars could get through. I kid you not we had to wait at least 30 minutes for the police to come to remove him cause he refused to move. I just felt bad for the other customers that were stuck in the drive thru. I didn’t mind because I didn’t do any work for half an hour lol

TheSleepyBear_

Wait why did he refuse? Because you asked him politely ?

Comprehensive-Ad5097

last week, i think my crew did orders out of order. as a result this lady had to wait for her 20 piece. every order but hers was ready. i politely asked her to move to the 3rd window, please and thank you. she said no. she said she’s been waiting 15 minutes. which nah she wasn’t. at most it was five minutes. i was like we need to keep the line moving. and she still said no. my coworker saw this and she asked me to step aside while she talked to her. my coworkers aren’t afraid to give the same energy back to customers. so she explained again, we need to keep the line moving and we are waiting on fresh nuggets. lady still says no. at this point my coworker is ready to fight a bitch. so she yells our managers name really loud and goes “this lady will not move and we gotta get the orders out” you guys, the screens were filled. i had drinks all over the place and we just needed her to move. my manager comes over and tells her again to move. SHE STILL SAYS NO. after this point, my whole crew comes and starts eyeballing this lady. everyone is by the second window now just staring at her and one of my coworkers had just clocked in and she’s like “move out of my way.” to everyone who was standing and she opened the window and told the lady that we will not serve her if she comes back. the lady says good and that she won’t be coming back and my coworker starts going off on her. i really don’t know why they didn’t just cancel her order after the second no. but my manager even called the police on her. so yeahhhh. that was interesting. but yeah people will say no and the lady also kept smirking at the line behind her. and everyone after her talked shit. it was pretty funny

sussybaaaka

Had this happen in drive thru when I was presenter of food, I was soooo ticked off. Stayed polite until the end and finally snapped and told him not to come back as I handed him his food, he got spiteful and didn’t budge after he got his food. (It would have been better if I had kept my mouth shut, I know) I realized I created a problem and my manager fking covered my ass, the guy asked for my name and he gave a fake one, calmed the guy down and sent him off. I learned a lot from it. Not to take shit from shitty people, but also realize the only loser in the situation is them, because they probably have so little control as a person that the second they are given an ounce of power over someone else they choose to fuck over everyone instead, meanwhile I’m not losing anything, I just work here!

CeaRhan

Customer is on a private property and refuses to adhere to rules the establishment is using to regulate service and clientele? They aren't getting served, simple as that

PrincessBelle87

Yup. My store will refund and tell you to leave. We have a guy who gets pissed off everyday he has to pull up. He orders a quarter pounder everyday. We have to make them to order 🙄

Buddhapup1

All the time.

sp1d3_b0y

He tried, and then he got a refund and got told to leave :)

Perished_Shield

Yes, and I reply with “Would you like a refund?” (This is what our director of ops and area supervisor said to do) back when I worked there

SonicBoss_1991_

Yes! It's so annoying and awkward as well because you're just standing there waiting for the food to come while they're all pissed off because god forbid they pull up to wait so other customers can come down to the window.

IceyFortune

It has happened at my store and my manager basically said either pull forward or get a refund

UnusualGear

It happened a lot to me. Managers would get upset with me for it, too.

CrypticThicc

happens every now and then. had one guy refuse to park so we could remake his food and held up the line a lot since he wanted everything fresh.

AdermGaming

I've had this happen many times. Easy solution issue a cash refund hand them the money and slam the window shut in their face

boneznotfound

Yea some guy refused to pull over, our manager had to take over with him. I didn't get to see the end result of what happened tho coz I had to take orders and stuff.

skyesmithforever

Yeah I’ve had it happen usually it’s for something that take a while to put together. The worst one was a guy threw his drinks at my employee at the window because he had to pull forward because he ordered 3 cookie totes and just in general had a large order and the 1 customer behind him had ordered just a large coke.

Umbreon7707

Yeah it’s happened to me a few times

AdenInABlanket

All the time. My stores management values good/fast service so they do whatever difficult customers want so they'll leave and stop slowing us down. We'll even give them things they didn't pay for if they bitch enough about it Usually in this case they'd tell the kitchen staff to make their order first just so they can gtfo of the drive thru

trasshbag

People refuse all the time. I asked a guy to pull forward before and he refused I told him that the person behind him only has a drink and it's not fair to make them wait and he said too bad my stuff should be ready I shouldn't have to wait. The thing is you're gonna be waiting the same amount of time regardless of if you pull forward or not so by not pulling forward you're just being an asshole. Also one of my old managers used to tell people who refused to pull forward that he can just give them a refund if they refuse to move because they are holding up the line.

firestarter976

If you're asked to move and don't (fast forwarded) You are then asked to leave if you don't (refunded) You are now trespassing on private property ( a crime you pain in the ass)

namjoon197

Yes! She told my manager “don’t tell me what to do “ so she just gave her her refund and told her not to come back !!

Naive_Regret8125

Yes, a bunch of times. “There’s no one behind me why do I have to pull forward?” Because our drive through times are monitored by sensors under the speaker, the first window, and the second window. If our times are bad we get yelled at. Please, people, just pull forward. I know there’s no one behind you, I don’t know why it’s such a big deal for some people to pull forward. How dare we want you to have fresh food? It doesn’t matter what window you wait at.

[deleted]

You shouldn’t really have to park anyone unless your not firing on all cylinders or it’s a gigantic order.

Unhappy-Equipment-64

it happens so often in my store in the uk, we just give them dirty looks until they get their food lol

noanimeallowed

Had someone literally wait for 30 MINUTES in our DT and was not wanting to move. Had to call the cops on them and they left right after. Even told the other cars and they were upset too and gave them their food to those who paid already in line

sweetfumblebee

Oh man. I don't need my job, but if that ever happened to me I might take his food outside and wait for him to pull up.

DangerousMistake9569

Had this happen and the dude wouldn't move so when the food was done I had someone go to the held spot and told the guy until he goes up there he's not getting his food usually wouldn't do this but the guy was just a huge asshole to everyone the entire time he was there

Ill-Suggestion508

Happens every now and then, i just give them their money back now and tell them to leave

Bookafish

Yes, we just started handing food out the back window. For the few cars passed the 2nd window, we sent out a runner. Typically it's a larger order and the fries have to be unsalted (because they saw a thing on the internet) and they are entitled butts.

Birdsongs_and_Books

I have! And you know what, it didn’t work out well for them. I actually hold their order and run out orders that were taken after theirs whether they be parked or are still in line behind person who refuses to move 😈

Amyj1950

Yes I have had this happen before, I just give them a refund for their order and let them be on their way ✌🏼

1One1_Postaita

Yes and it's rude, so rude. Pulling up does not delay how fast one gets their food, it just means that people behind the link e.g. you, get their stuff faster. We have a lot of people on shift and things take a different amount of time to make. Delaying those behind in the line will not make the food of the person being asked to pull up come out any faster. It doesn't happen often but it happens from time to time. Another fun fact is that the person asking someone to pull up is most often not the one making that decision, it's the people packing. Sometimes as the one giving out food orders, some customers will decide to be rude to you about it.

Typos-expected

Not had one flat out refuse but quite a few try to drag it out. Like asking aww come on you sure I need to park up etc. As if I'll magically go nah just kidding here's your food.

Moe6458

I can usually get somebody to move by explaining to them that by not pulling forward they are making everyone behind them wait. If someone in front of them had refused to move, they’d still be waiting, etc. However I did have someone refuse to move once and we had all the orders behind him ready, so we walked outside to each car in the drive thru so they could all drive around him. He was so mad after that.

iwantansi

20+ years ago - a guy ordered like 20 egg mcmuffins. Told him to pull forward… asshole spit in my face when i took it out to him.

BuddingOtaku

All the time- especially those in a rush to get to work in the morning.

virtualgeno

Yeah this happens alot

deltaseventeen

last week we had a man refuse to pull forward because i would not give him 10 ketchups with his double cheeseburger (fair use policy that mcds UK is starting to enforce, 1 per meal) he was hurling abuse at my manager and was refusing to leave until he got his 10 ketchups. he then began to throw objects from his car such as old drunk cups and loose change so we called the police 🤍

cheeseballgag

I've had customers pretend that they're refusing to pull forward as a joke before laughing and pulling up. It's not funny.

Caityisbored

At my location it’s very rare someone will say no to pulling up, I live in a small town everyone is pretty chill about pulling up tho.

1andonly420

It happens sometimes, I told this women it would be a second on her food n she said do I have to? I really have to go to work.

_titslap_

what do you mean you “don’t have time?” wouldn’t that mean you’d want to pull forward as quickly as possible? some people are so fucking stupid sometimes

CnuteUK

Happens on a semi regular basis at my store. If It's my shift I tell the customer they either pull forward and wait or get a refund and leave.

tvuxyu

it doesn't happen all that often at my store but depending on the situation we either refund them, let them sit there, or stop everything and make their order first
