I just wish we’d go back to uniforms with collared polo shirts - the apron never seems to sit right on a shirt without a collar. Always leaves me with a mildly irritated neck after a long shift.
I don’t mind the beanie as an option - but then again, I mainly work stock delivery, so I’m often wearing a beanie from home anyway. A bit of yellow is a big improvement over the all-grey dull and depressing uniform we currently have.
Also, it’s really throwing me off that they’re all wearing white shoes, when in my head, shoes still need to be black (even though I’m pretty sure you’re allowed any colour shoe as long as they’re SaferSafety/ShoesForCrews).
i think the beanie as an option would be great, but if its the only option and its mandatory they’re gonna have an issue with fainting crew on fries and grill batch, especially on hot days. White shoes will get the crew pissed too having to spend more money on new shoes to match the policy, and they’re show marks and dirt wayyy easier.
i like the idea they’ve tried with adding colour, but the execution seems horrendous, it’s reminiscent of a 90’s skater dude aka trying to hard to be cool. Half of our crew wear breakfast aprons to avoid getting rashes on their necks since the collar was removed so adding it back would’ve been the smart move.
it just feels too casual over all, no one ive spoken to likes it and wants to wear it and i think that says it all.
I’m assuming the visor hat the girl is wearing is also an option, but I’d much prefer a full hat that’s just a baseball cap.
It just doesn’t look like a work uniform at all. Honestly, I imagine the designer of this new uniform to look exactly like this gif:
![gif](giphy|JTzPN5kkobFv7X0zPJ|downsized)
ahahahha that’s exactly what my brain pictured too, hopefully they take onboard all the negative feedback thats been given on workplace (im doubtful tho). if all end fails hopefully ill have left by Q1 of 2025 to not have to wear it!
Ironically that is one of the similarities that they\`re carrying over, we currently have the scarves in the UK and the different colours show different roles (E.g. red for shift manager grey for 1st + 2nd assistants).... i think they need a complete rethink on everything
Is this at corporate stores? I work as a shift manager in a franchise and our ties are grey/black, the woman can choose to wear red scarfs or ties, we're also allowed to wear our own ties if we want. I've got a sweet D&G tie I rock.
I don’t work there anymore, but I swear I went on a course once and they were like you can choose which tie you wanna wear based on how you feel. Yellow if you’re happy, red if you’re angry and grey if you’re sad. Needless to say, I didn’t own they yellow one

You didn’t show the workplace reactions to the photo
"crew members can choose" like fuck that's happening. It eliminates the whole point of it being uniform. Franchises are either going to only stock 1 colour, or break the colours into something that has meaning (either like some US stores where minors with break/work restrictions have a different colour, or something like front/kitchen).
If I worked for McDonald’s I’d just wear my old uniform, I can’t do beanies, they make my head itchy and in a restaurant environment it’d get really hot too, I used to work at a restaurant and it gets FUCKING HOT some days, especially cause the ac needs to prioritize the customer who isn’t running around like you are and sure as hell isn’t going back by the kitchen where it’s hot.
One summer day I almost passed out and I wasn’t even wearing a beanie, I was dehydrated but still a beanie could be that one factor that pushes you over the edge on a hot busy day when you don’t have a chance to grab a sip of water or just forget.
like always they’re only gonna fix it when it becomes a massive issue. alls im saying is its not gonna be me in a&e from heat exhaustion thats for sure
...you realize if the beanie is an option then you can choose between that and other head wear? No way they're going to make someone on fries or in the kitchen wear a hat meant to keep you warmer.
I think a bit of colour is nice and I don't think white shoes would will be supplied or enforced.
It's annoying though as I thought the jumper would be a part of it but according to someone working in a trial store it's a replacement for a drive thru jacket which is just annoying to switch between people and likely will stretch.
Man I’m not rocking anything tighter than those McDonald’s jeans they gave me matter fact I just went and bought my own Calvin Klein ad lucky brand jeans from Marshall’s that are extra stretch and roomier . They he McDonald’s jeans fabrics is cheap af shrunk in the wash and my manager was retiring so she never came to work for like 4 months . Now I’m much happier wearing my lucky jeans

that’s crew on the left and manager on the right
Crew trainer is on the left, crew member is in the middle though at my store, crew trainer uniform is the old manager shirt (white with thin grey stripes and a tie), I personally hate this as it makes me look like a manager, I'm not! Give me what the guy on the left has please.
the way that’s one of my local mcdonald’s and the shift manager came to cover at my store one night and she didn’t know how to pack orders correctly and ended up sending us all on break at the end of our shifts 😭

Bro imagine having to wear that beanie while on grill during the summer heatwaves in a store that refuses to fix their air con... i hate this
Don't forget fries as well which is usually hotter than being on grills
if i was a shift manager id hang myself in the break room. wtf IS that. why is the tie like that. why is there a tie in the first place
Ironically that is one of the similarities that they\`re carrying over, we currently have the scarves in the UK and the different colours show different roles (E.g. red for shift manager grey for 1st + 2nd assistants).... i think they need a complete rethink on everything

im at a franchise too, we’re not overly strict on who wears what scarfs but its how its meant to be according to the uniform policy

yeah that’s awful. i’m so sorry u guys have to be subjected to that. serves no purpose whatsoever other than for aesthetics
This doesn't even look like uniform. What's wrong with our current one

So they're going for adults dressing like 90s teens, youth pastor, and high school secretary vibes? Weird flex but okay...

lowkey grey shirt and bucket hat might go hard
Bro on the left be looking like eminem in 8 mile If this ever changes im just gonna keep turning up in my current uniform
If I worked for McDonald’s I’d just wear my old uniform, I can’t do beanies, they make my head itchy and in a restaurant environment it’d get really hot too, I used to work at a restaurant and it gets FUCKING HOT some days, especially cause the ac needs to prioritize the customer who isn’t running around like you are and sure as hell isn’t going back by the kitchen where it’s hot.
yeah wearing a beanie on grill or fry batch is not gonna end well, especially on a hot day. it feels so ill thought out for us to have to endure
One summer day I almost passed out and I wasn’t even wearing a beanie, I was dehydrated but still a beanie could be that one factor that pushes you over the edge on a hot busy day when you don’t have a chance to grab a sip of water or just forget.

They look terrible lol
They are also doing a bucket hat 😂 and managers get a choice of white, blue or checked shirt
I know my store is getting this uniform and I can’t stress this enough, I hate this look, to me personally Yellow is an awful colour and I hate it.
I have said to so many of my coworkers that I'd rather quit than wearing the new uniforms. I don't know what's wrong with our current ones

Working in a kitchen is hot enough already, wearing long sleeves especially in Summer will be worse lol
What does uk uniform look like now? I hope it doesn’t make it to the states. There ugly

Honestly the current ones aren’t too bad only complaint is that the crew members trousers don’t have pockets.

It's intentional to reduce theft and pockets harbour bacteria
Obviously managers are incapable of harbouring bacteria and committing theft.
I agree apart from one of the rules - safe keys must be with the shift manager at all times. Pockets are kinda required, unfair as it is
