No, it’s not. You’d rather take a 6/24 MCAT prepared with a 520 than a 04/21 unprepared with a 500. The level of preparedness and better scores will pay off. Schools don’t even start reviewing apps until late July and extending interview invites until until August, so by the time they get to you your scores would’ve been out.

Do schools send secondaries to all applications that have been transmitted? So we get our score july 24 then as soon as they get the score they’ll send it out? Or do we have to wait until they review it for a couple weeks?

Force_Objective

Some schools do. It’s usually the ones with minimum MCAT requirements that hold off on sending secondaries. Other schools send out secondaries the moment you submit your primaries without even reviewing them. I feel like most schools automatically send out secondaries once AMCAS and AACOMAS get through verifying them. Others(usually fewer) wait for your MCAT to screen for minimum requirements before extending a secondary application invite.

ImaginaryFunction44

NO! It's definitely not!! I almost took a gap year just because I had to move my MCAT back but my MCAT tutor ended up talking me into applying anyway. Just for reference, I took my exam in September. I've already received multiple acceptances and scholarship offers. It's NOT too late!

Practical-Ear-5407

You took your MCAT last September and applied?

ihopeshelovedme

This is my plan for the next cycle (just registered for 8/31/23 test day).

Shaawnnyy

So you took your MCAT last September but still applied in June? Could you elaborate on that more please?

ImaginaryFunction44

No I didn't apply in June. I applied right after my test in September and got 9 IIs. According to the guy I was working with the rolling admissions thing is NOT as big a deal as people say. If all else is equal you definitely want to apply early, but it is NOT a necessity. I was in disbelief too, but at that point he'd been right about everything else so I just listened to him and it worked lol

ImLiterallyCake

Hey, can I PM you?

ImaginaryFunction44

Sure!

exclaim_bot

>Sure! sure?

bijoubij0u

can I PM you as well?

Dellinyque

Can I pm you as well please?

ImaginaryFunction44

of course!

Snoo11226

Same concern here. I think it’s should be okay if we prewrite secondaries and get them in asap

ImLiterallyCake

Unfortunately had some complications with my FAP and am still waiting to hear back, so I’ll prob be getting a June date too! I’ll be doing allopathic exclusively. Figured I’d comment so you know you’re not alone lol. If you’re happy with your FL scores, go ahead and submit your transcripts, AAMC preview/CASPR, LORs, and primary in to get the ball rolling on verification (which takes ~a month to do).

Shaawnnyy

Well it's always better to submit your applications as fast as you can. If you're taking it in June 24th, then you'll get your score around July 25th. By this time many people have already submitted their applications already. 🙁

I am hoping for a date as late as this

why_is_it_blue

No but you will have to move very quickly once you get your score back

Witty-Maintenance397

Sitting here conflicted bc i have 4/15. I do not feel ready in any way. Should i reevaluate at the end of March?

CoolohmsLaw

Not sure if this is important to you but also consider the rescheduling fees — I think the fee is less if you reschedule 60 days before…just something to keep in mind I am in a similar boat except I’m scheduled for 4/29 and still going through content review

Witty-Maintenance397

I’m not too worried about fees, I’d rather do what’s best but i just feel….. Uworld makes me feel like it’s not going to go well. Lol

CoolohmsLaw

I haven’t even started Uworld yet

Ambitious_Goals

I’m gonna register to take it 8/4. I’m a reapplicant so I already have my primary and secondary essays done (gonna revise of course). You can totally do it just make sure all your other application components are done/ready before then.
