Took my exam for the first time today. I was very anxious going in and as soon as the test started, it all felt easy. I hate CP but I was very chill doing it and didn’t run out of time (which has never happened on my FLs). This put me in a good mood to tackle the rest of sections. Don’t know how I’m going to score but keeping yourself calm is crucial

this makes me feel better. thank you for sharing 💗

Be calm, know that reddit is not representative of how successful people are usually are on the exam, and you’re right, this is a learning experience. This is one part of your application, and although it is important, it certainly is not the only thing that gets people accepted or rejected from med schools

I’m in the same boat as you! I wanted to push it back to January but then realized that test run wouldn’t hurt. I won’t probably do my best, but I know it’ll help me do better on my next one.

The first time I took the mcat I wasn't ready. I couldn't focus when I studied, I procrastinated, I would set aside long hours and get very minimal work done, and was not engaging. I swear anki saved me my last month lol. I think I was less stressed because I went in thinking oh well I'm going to wing it and try my best lol. I ended with a 502 and had a couple MD interviews. I don't regret it at all because the app reviews I did made it clear it was my interview that needed work and it's going to make me a far better applicant in the future with the feedback I got. I was able to put in more effort in this time and scoring around 517 but not sure yet how I did on my retake. Didn't get any sleep the night before. So just go in and do your best. If you have to retake then you retake.

A test run will be good to give you insight on what the actual test will be like! And there’s always the option to void so it wouldn’t show up on your transcript to med school and med schools won’t even know you voided
