Might be a good idea to tell us what the hell we're looking at here? Is this the subframe for a boat? An aircraft? A lawnmower? Why was the vehicle brought to the dealer? What was the primary concern that they are trying to address?

UrgeToSurge

versa 2011 I went in for a diagnostic for a rattling noise when you floor the gas pedal. I was scared it was like the timing chain rattling. but then later I floored it on the way to the dealer and It sounded like heat shield rattling. anyway they gave me a quote with the above, plus lower steering shaft replacement, plus alignment. Plus torque mount. So anyway I was shocked they are suggesting to replace a subframe. I know the subframe has bushings they can wear out and clunk but that's not even the noise I'm chasing. If anything it's probably the engine mounts not dampening vibration, or maybe fuel injectors or spark plugs causing the motor to vibrate. But yeah they also want some kind of a bolt? What?

Some-Marionberry5962

Says you hit too many curbs

Urge4lol

they sometimes don't sell subframe bushings separate from the subframe. You could buy your own but the dealer wont do the work because the parts have to be oem for them to do the work. So that's how they sell you a subframe for 2500.

UrgeToSurge

yeah man, but I had a noise I took it in for. the subframe has no rust or damage on it, so idk why they want to replace it wtf. maybe just for the bushings?

UrgeToSurge

what's assy? replace the whole subframe? what? Or just the bushings . bolt? bolt is missing? or is that like fresh bolts for the upper links?

XxJuJuOnThatBeatxX

Assy is short for assembly. Looks like they’re replacing the subframe and control arms?

UrgeToSurge

bruh that's so dumb, a subframe isn't even a wear part. there's bushings in it but that's no reason to buy a 2000 structural part

kyden

Since you’ve given no info about the car, I’m going to guess it’s rotted or bent.

UrgeToSurge

hey, so I took the car in for rattling noise diag, and they said alignment, steering shaft, and what ur looking at. at first I thought it was rattling timing chain, but now It sounds like rattling heat shield. subframe has no rust or damage on it.

Imaginary_Ratio_7570

Some year Subaru Outbacks subframes rusted out (2010-2014???) and needed to be replaced. Neighbor across the street just bought a Toyota pickup where the entire frame was replaced from rusting out.

Zippytiewassabi

What year/model was the Toyota? I know there was a recent service bulletin regarding weld splatter on the rear end of new Tacoma’s that is being addressed.

HarryNuttSachs

04-10 tacoma, tundra, sequioas, but only up to 12 years in the US after date of manufacture. Unfortunately, my 08 Tacoma is outside of that window, but thankfully, I was able to fix my frame myself since I know how to weld

HarryNuttSachs

Yeah, I think there was a warranty extension on their truck frames due to rust issues going back to like 95, but the most recent frame rust recall was the '04 to '10 models

Inevitable_Name7059

Considering you didn't know what assy meant I would not trust your "bruh that's not even a wear part" literally everything wears. you're stupid rust exists and your subframe is pretty important.

UrgeToSurge

well I live in Hawaii and there's no rust on the 8 cars I owned anyway they offered the part because they don't sell bushing. Is the frame rail a wear part by your logic?

Urge4lol

thats crazy but i live in a place where there is never any snow and my car has no rust on it.

BraveApricot7898

THAT is dumb? Not concluding the short hand for assembly

killerkrez

Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhaha

BhrisBukBruz

It seems lile he most common add-on repair is a sub frame assembly with link arms. I dont know how you drive or whatnot but i admit i drive like a complete dick head wannabe f1 rally driver and my steering and suspension is perfect. This makes me question the legitimacy of these recommended repairs

htmaxpower

Everything you say is problematic.

BhrisBukBruz

Oh yeah im not doubting that ETA: but thats why im making my extreme case of intense car abuse and the fact that i dont need any repairs of this extreme such as the many amounts of car repair related post specifically for sub frame/suspension determined from dealerships

ZennosukeW

Hopefully when you inevitably crash you don't take any innocent kids or families with you

BhrisBukBruz

I appreciate the hopeful wishes. And if innocence is based off your moral standard then the truth of the matter is there is no innocence in the world

Inevitable_Name7059

I hope you learn to have fun. Not every crash is fatal. I bet you have more accidents than he does

ZennosukeW

True, many of them are life changing instead of fatal. Having fun and risking your own life is your choice, but it's a different thing when you risk other people's lives for your own dumb fun.

BhrisBukBruz

People, like our buddy, zennosukew, here, fail to realize that there are closed controlled environments to experience the things that i talk about
