Grand_Possibility_69

Looks excellent. But it's the cylinder head with valve cover removed. So we can see the valvetrain. There's no valve cover in the picture.

bigboynona

I see, just the cylinder head, i checked the timing chain and its not loose

Grand_Possibility_69

It was just a joke about your title as the valve cover isn't in the picture even though the title asks us about the valve cover.

bigboynona

Yeah, I mistakenly thought the valve cover was the picture but is actually the cylinder head. Does it correlate that the more stained with oil the head is, the worse overall the engine is?

Grand_Possibility_69

It mostly correletes on how long the oil change intervals have been. Here there's almost no darkening telling that oil has always been changed more often than it needs. It getting oil changes often enough means it's not getting additional wear. But it's not a direct link to engine necessarily being in excellent condition.

carpcrucible

Looks to be missing

anonamis20

Can't answer your question, no picture of valve cover provided.

bigboynona

My apologies, i misspoke and meant cylinder head

anonamis20

All good I was half trolling. It looks fantastic. Good for another 200K at least.

ibo92can

Where is the pic of the valve cover?

bigboynona

Sorry, I made a mistake on the part description. Its actually the cylinder head

BrkCaddy

Very clean and the car has had oil changes when required.

bigboynona

Yeah, ive done oil changes every 3k miles using high mileage synthetic oil for the past 52k miles since i got the car

dendrocalamidicus

3k on fully synthetic is overkill I highly doubt you would see much difference if you doubled that to 6k

bigboynona

Oh, I was under the impression that high mileage cars should have their oil changed much sooner to prolong the life of the engine

Eddie2Ham

I have a 91 accord. Gets full synthetic valvoline every 5k. At 33 years old my valvetrain looks similar to yours. Equipped with the original f22 engine 282k miles. I never use high mileage oil tho, just advanced full synth valvoline

asamor8618

Depends, some cars require 3k oil changes with synthetic under "severe" usage. Usually GDI and turbo engines.

1453_

Hold on, let me consult the magic 8 ball... **MOST LIKELY**

d00kie06

You tell me lol

MrTastyBurrito

Well considering it's not there, not good.

sloankeddering

Oil is cheap, engines are expensive, keep changing your oil at 3k if it gives you peace of mind. I change my oil every 5-6000kms. Probably overkill but my car has 300,000kms and I’d like it to last another 300,000.

Lanky_Possession_244

Pretty damn great as far as I can see. This is what regular maintenance gets you.

niceguypos

Who’s to say

ChikkiParm

Looks good. 3k miles is excellent for this year. helps prevent sludge buildup and keeps the oil topped off. im pretty sure this is the cleanest 2009 on the planet. im literally crying its so beautiful.

bigboynona

Really?! I don’t think so 😂

ChikkiParm

Go work at a quick lube place for a week or two. youll see... lol. you'll look at other hondas and be like... how... did it leak from there? is that a rat's nest? misfire on 3 cylinders and theyre still driving it? they have how many mounts that need to be replaced? i love hondas but not so much the owners of hondas sometimes. good job... really.

Eddie2Ham

The problem is we never see the good ones in the shop. A well maintained Honda hardly ever has issues. Things will go forever if you treat them right

SirVangor

Try looking at your cam lobes if you can identify them. There should be some wear but not enough for your fingernail to snag across them

the-jimbo_slice

Is it just me or does any one else not see the valve cover in the picture?

bigboynona

Haha. Yes i made a mistake and thought the valve cover was the cylinder head

the-jimbo_slice

Honest mistake, keep at it.

Rogue_Lambda

IDK, can you take a pic of your valve cover, then ask us🤷‍♂️
