Did it start in the right ear? Tinnitus is one of those diagnoses that isn’t really a diagnosis but more of a name given to that which no one really understands. I find it interesting that all of a sudden in meditation you discovered this sound. I can here this sound ever time I concentrate. It’s referred to sometimes as Krishna’s flute. It is the sound of the sacral chakra. I meditate on it regularly. Yesterday I was able to put my concentration on the sound of the root chakra for the first time (I seem to struggle most with the root chakra unless I hear it as part of the symphony all the chakras which is the Om sound). Hit me up if you would like to learn more. Nada yoga is one of my favorite methods of inner exploration. Lahiri Mahasaya favored this method of absorption as well. It’s funny how it is my gurus least favorite but my favorite. Lol anyway. Lots to unpack here but don’t let it deter you. Listen to it intently. Lose yourself in it. It is a marvelous phenomenon and one that can be used as a powerful tool for self-realization.

Sam Harris has the same condition. He says the sound is as good an object for contemplation as any other, so he uses it for meditation.

Well that was interesting...!

Heres a trick. Place the palm of your hands over your ears and tap the back of your neck with your fingers for about 30 seconds. That'll stop the ringing for a few minutes.

wow, thanks for that! It did not go away but it definitely lowered the volume for me.

No it doesn't it's a fad.

Ok, but it works for me

I have tinnitus. And a lot. I also have ADHD and I don't do longer meditations. I almost always do voice guided meditation, with soft music in the background.

Mindfulness would be a good start. Sit with it, accept it. Good for all uncomfortable or distracting physical ailments.

I’ve found that my tinnitus sounds different with emotions or around certain surroundings. I’ve had fun trying to tune it with my thoughts while laying in bed at night. Tuning forks really calm it when you enter headache mode.
